Inoadar took a deep breath, deciding that as much as he hated to admit it, Clyde was right. He was going to get nowhere shouting his opinions into these fools' faces. He was glad at least to see that the problems with the other suggestions were being exposed by some of the others present.

He turned to the newest arrival, "Our allies here have made it clear that the beast is fairly discriminating in its diet. It is not going to swallow a bottle. And anyway it would have to chew it to break it open and release the poison. It would probably just spit it back out. And even if it swallowed it, glass is probably the most resistance substance to acid that there is. That is why we store it in glass."

He really did try to keep the sarcasm out of his voice with his last comment, but the condescension was impossible to conceal. He recognized this woman as some servant of his old partner, Valerius. 'Isn't she a slave? What in Dira's Dungeons is a slave doing taking part in this?' he thought to himself. For a moment he thought of posing this question out loud, but decided that it would undermine their credibility in the eyes of their Dhani partners.

"There are some clear misconceptions here. Let me explain. The Vilemoss has no severely abrasive or corrosive quality to it, once processed. But I can promise you, on my life, if the beast eats something with a batch of Vilemoss in it, it will drop this discriminating pickyness and eat anything dumped in front of it."

He gave a sidelong look at Clyde, hoping the man would spare his dignity just this once. "The...subject I tested it on..." he started, not mentioning that he was the one that had accidentally exposed himself to it. "...was even eating rope! He was eating the roots from plants, right out of the pots. Bits of bark, wads of cobwebs, a rubber stopper, you name it! Anything he could chew up or swallow whole. The only issue is the exact method of introducing the vilemoss so that we can be assured of the thing eating it."

He looked at the Iyvess contingent. "You have some way of tracking or luring the beast to us? Then let us have use of one of our ferries. I can process enough Vilemoss to set two armies to attacking each other with their teeth! We can use a preachin' cow! Or a horse! Or whatever we have on hand that you think the beast will want to eat. We strap a packet of Vilemoss to the animal and shove it off the side of the boat. Once we see it eat the thing, then we shove the dead bodies, spiked with the poison components, into the water in front of it."

He looked from face to face, trying to see if there was anything still In question. "We don't need to worry about stomach acid compromising the compound when it's in a dead body. And that's why we attach the vilemoss to the outside of the animal. A live animal's stomach acid might impact its effectiveness."

He looked around. "Forget about spears. Forget about fish, and forget about having to breathe under water. We won't have to do more than get our feet wet. The thrashing animal will lure it to the surface." Like Clyde, Inoadar had no doubt these Dhani would not be here if they were not finding themselves newly supplementing the beast's fish diet. This was no surprise to him. He'd have been surprised if a race so far removed from humans HAD volunteered to aid this human city out of pure altruism. Why should they?

Lucillus Nitrozian

Well, this was a petching mess.

It had all started when Luc arrived at his office late last night - after a series of unfortunate accidents ended up stranding him on the far west side of the city - to discover that half of the paperwork he thought he had sorted out the previous day was in fact incomplete, improperly filed, and looking as if a Zith had torn through his records with wild abandon. Panicked, he spent the next three bells struggling to make sense of his anarchic office, rearranging records, finishing up what contracts he needed to get completed... not fun work to be done while suffering a massive hangover. By the time that he was finally finished, with every loose page returned to its rightful stack and every due contract hastily scrawled out, Luc was so tired that he didn't even bother leaving his office to return to his cubicle just down the hallway. The lawyer had laid his head down against his desk, shut his eyes, and tried to get some much-needed sleep before dawn came. He only managed, at most, a bell of rest before the shakes started, another withdrawal symptom that he was becoming more acutely aware of. As morning slowly dawned on Ravok proper, Lucillus Nitrozian spent his time rolling about on the floor of his office, trying to overcome the stinging pain that was shooting through every inch of his body. He had tried searching through his office for a quick hit, only to realize that he had used up the last of his stash from the fall and was helpless to fight the withdrawal.

And that was about the time when the messenger burst through the door.

"Mr. Lucillus?" came the all-too keen voice, sending a sharp spike through Luc's temples.

Groaning, the Nitrozian struggled to his feet, hauling himself up using the desk. His hair was askew, his clothes dirty beyond belief, his eyes beady and bloodshot - he wasn't very happy to be receiving visitors. Giving the barefaced youth before him a critical look, eyeing with disdain the Nitrozian pin set on his breast, Luc finally gave a deep sigh. "Make it quick."

To the boy's credit, he didn't seem fazed by the awful condition of the esteemed noble before him. Striding forward, the messenger pressed a medallion firmly into Luc's hands. "Message from Sitanos, sir. He requests your attendance at the Temple of the Black Sun immediately."

Luc blinked.

The messenger stared back at him.

He blinked again.

The messenger bit his lip, clearly expecting an answer.

Growling, Luc reached forward and slapped the back of the boy's head, lip curling in anger. "You petching idiot. You got the wrong Nitrozian." Pushing the medallion back to the youth, Luc shook his head and walked back around the desk. "Even I know who that medallion is supposed to go to. You're looking for Valerius Nitrozian - he's my prick of a cousin, works at a medical facility. He'll be there if he's not too busy petching some doting maiden that looks suspiciously like yourself."

It was a testament to the messenger's character that he merely offered a respectful bow of his head. "Sir, this is Valerius' medallion. He's retired from the meeting, and Sitanos wants you to take his place." Then, with perhaps the barest hint of a smile, the messenger nodded. "And the good master said that if you did not attend this meeting, then your office would be torn down, your drug dealers exiled out of town, and you'd soon find yourself staring at the bottom of Lake Ravok."

Luc blinked.

The messenger stared back at him.

"Gods be damned," Luc growled, snatching the medallion from the boy's hands and racing out of the office.

- - -

He made record time to the Temple of the Black Sun, sprinting down the streets when possible and paying the ravosolamen extra when he needed to get across the canals. By the time Luc made it to the imposing doors of the Temple, he would have wagered that only half a bell had transpired if not else - but then again, it was hard to keep track of time when he could barely string two thoughts together. His entire world was swimming, and it was a miracle he had not slipped and fallen into the canals on the way here. But he couldn't spend anymore time bemoaning his situation... when you were summoned by the Black Sun, you damn well showed up to the meeting and prepared to listen. Giving a deep breath, slicking back his unruly hair, Luc gave his wrists and single flex and then pushed the doors open, striding into the Temple with as much confidence as he could muster. To the nearest Agent he flashed the medallion that he had been entrusted, making sure his imperious gaze distracted the Agent from taking notice of his disheveled appearance. With a small smile, he was led into the private meeting room and entered discretely.

Thankfully, he was able to catch some of the words that were being exchanged as he entered the room. Though all of the figures gathered in the room were unfamiliar to him, he was able to quickly pick up on their identities as he listened to them speak. That one's some kind of poisoner, he figured of pale man that was standing, ranting about stomach acid and subjects and something called vile moss? And that one's a mage of some kind? he assumed of the gaunt man with the striking blue eyes, for he was discussing cursed objects and mentioned making one. Lucillus had no idea how one would go about making a magically cursed object, but something about the gaunt man's gaze told him that this person was singularly skilled at whatever he chose to do. It was a gaze that gave Luc a bit of a chill, and he tried to shrug it off as he prepared to speak. The other figures seemed like more officials of Ravok, for he could spot the sigils of the Black Sun and the Stryfe among them. He should have been able to recognize such esteemed figures, for no doubt they were friends of the Nitrozians, but for the life of them he could not place their faces. And the three unknown figures that seemed at odds with the rest of the gathering... Did that mage call them 'Dhani?' Are these those freaks that showed up in the city last season?

Luc felt very small when intruding into the presence of such powerful figures. But damn it, he had been forced out of his office this morning to come and speak to them, and he would be a fool if he didn't at least try to contribute to this topic. Of the meeting's purpose, Lucillus was easily able to determine that, for there was only one thing worth talking about in this petching city. The Fish.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Luc began, running a hand through his hair as he made his way to a nearby seat. "My name is Lucillus Nitrozian, legal representative of the Nitrozian merchant family. I've come here in my dearest cousin's stead to help negotiate an end to the problems that been afflicting our poor city for too long, for this monster in the lake needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later." He was aware that he looked a complete mess compared to the finely dressed people all around him, but did not let that fact disturb his speech. Confidence at all costs. Determination above all. "I've been dealing with this mess since the beginning," he began, affecting a quiet, sympathetic tone, "and trust me, I want to see it quelled just as anyone here. I've seen fathers that can't work to support their families, business owners that find themselves on the streets, workers that have come afoul of the beast's attacks... it's been ugly, and I promise you this, you will have the full assurance of the Nitrozian fortunes in dealing with this threat. Ladies and gentlemen," he repeated, casting his eyes about the room, staring at every particular face, trying to commit them to memory, "I -"

He stopped. "Rhysol's balls," he exclaimed, staring in shock at the slave in their midst. "What the hell are you doing here?" Luc had no idea what this girl's name was, but he remembered seeing her around the NHC a few times, sweeping up the place and keeping it tidy... sometimes she had been let into his office to take care of his 'little messes'. Alra, right? Or was it Amia? ... Claudette? Smirking, Luc glanced over to the Ravokian officials. "What, you're letting urchins in now?"

He was getting off the point, and Luc shook his head. "Anyway. While all this talk of, well, poison, seems to be going fine, I have to wonder what the effect will have on the local fisheries. How can you be sure this won't end up drastically affecting the life in Lake Ravok? The Nitrozians won't be keen to endorse something that ends up crippling our businesses later on. Why don't we try a less ruinous method of stopping this beast?" He gestured idly over to the figures that he presumed were Dhani, and the man that he presumed was a mage. Gods be damned, this is what Sitanos gets when he sends me into a situation with no idea of what the petch is going on. "If you're capable of creating some kind of cursed object, why don't you make a few weapons that have a good chance of harming this beast? We don't need weapons that have to work on the surface, for our friends here can take the fight directly below the water. Unless you don't have arms when you do your... Dhani thing?" He shrugged, taking a seat and rolling his head back. "We'd be at our strongest if we can force this beast to surface, and if we can find some way for the Dhani to drive the thing up... we'd have a good shot of killing it while it's trapped between the surface and the Lake floor."

It was clear to all that the slave had missed the initial comments from before she had arrived. It was clear also that her education levels were low, relative to the other occupants of the room.; her ideas were crude, and would most likely be poorly executed. “It would be mossst difficult to get close enough to the Fisssh to sssimply lob a glassss vial of poison inssside the creature’s mouth and not be harmed yourssself.” Came the exasperated answer from one of the younger Dhani. “In principle, yesss, you have magicksss at your disssposal that would also prove ussseful. But a heavy blow to glassss will caussse it to shatter, no?

She would have continues, but the poison crafter broke in, sharing his own knowledge and opinions on what Alea had suggested. “
Yesss, very likely that the vial could just… passss straight through the creature and come out with it’sss stools undamaged.” The others nodded, agreeing with Parnell’s judgement. As Parnell continued with once again preaching the uses of the Vileness poison, Stephin noticed that a distinct silence had fallen over the Ebonstryfe soldier present. Pleased with himself, he hoped that it meant the pair would work well together from now on.

We could lure him… yesss,” the Dhani Elder said slowly, almost reluctantly, “But it would be fassst. You would have a window of only a few ticksss to do what you need to do. Unlesssss you could suspend the Monssster.” Those around the table fell silent, and then the Dhani spoke up again, concern seeping into her voice. “Have you not consssidered that the Fisssh might ssstart… eating the city? We would need to make sssure that Ravok was sssafe from the moment we introduce the Vilemossss until the moment the Fisssh diesss.” All Officials present found themselves amazed at the foreigner’s concern towards the city that was not their’s.

The entrance of a second Nitrozian paused the flow of conversation for a minute, and all were surprised that Valerius had decided not to return, and instead send his cousin to continue with the parley. Clearly the speech that he blurted out without pause for breath had been planned on his journey in, and it was only broken by they surprise at the presence of the Nitrozian slave. “
The girl is here at the will of Rhysol, Mister Nitrozian.” the Acolyte said, though there was still a hint of irritation in his voice as he spoke of the slave, who had effectively been temporarily given the same rank and rights as a full citizen in joining the table.

Aemeli in particular found the new arrival to be of interest; the red-rimmed eyes and dishevelled appearance was still visible under Lucillus’ rushed attempt to look presentable this morning. She found herself wondering at the more respected Nitrozian’s logic on sending his borderline-shameful cousin to the summit. “
The problem with Valerius sending you in his stead, of course,” Stephin Xeres continued, “Is that you have little knowledge of what was previously discussed, boy. The Fish has no predators, so the poison will not be spread further, and should it enter the waters, Rhysol has blessed us with a lake that cannot be contaminated by such mortal creations.

Master Sullins and Miss Marin both possess strong ability in Reimancy. I am sure they would be capable of keeping the beast from destroying the city. If not, I am sure they wouldn’t mind assistance from other members of the Ebonstryfe or Institute of Higher Learning with the same ability.” Stephin looked behind him and met eyes with the Druvin for a moment, who inclined her head slightly. “I think this is the route you seem set on, and I am willing to support it. Poisoner, I will send an Acolyte with you to collect both the poison that we will be using, and the Vilemoss. Perhaps Mister Sullins would join you?” Without waiting for an answer, he summoned in said Acolyte, one whom the poison crafter knew well. “Miss Grey will escort the pair of you. Please meet us at the Northern Docks, near the Healing Hand… in half a bell.

NoteLooks like we're saying goodbye to our poisoner, and the new one isn't joining us... we'll make it up! Also I've heard nothing of Annalisa since she last posted in January so.. we'll consider her gone too.

Clyde, we'll be writing Inoadar out at Ino Vations, so if you have any ideas, feel free to PM me, if not it will be some problem at the shop he is left to deal with.

Vilemoss! Let's kill this beast!

A young boy knelt before the black shard, the center of all things inside the temple of the black sun. His sword and dagger where at his side and on the dark shaded floor. Since Rhysol's love made the air warm, the boy only wore his sleeved shirt and black pants. He folded his sleeves, bowed his head, and closed his eyes. He prepared every word for this moment when he could speak to his God. He started his prayers slow, giving thanks for Rhysol's protection, then he asked his lord to continue protecting the beautiful citizens of Ravok with all his magnificent power. He spoke with Rhysol for a tick or two before he got to the real important part of his prayer.

Dear lord Rhysol, he thought. I am your vassal, your mark on the world, staining its virtuous text with ink of sin. I wish to serve you, I wish to be the sword at your hip, the stallion in your ride to victory; the reason why all who know your name shake in their boots. I want to be your soldier, your apostle to the nature of protection and destruction. Please my lord, guide me in your ways, show me how I can serve you. I am willing to give my life for any cause, good or evil, little or small. I offer my life in return for your love...

He ended his prayer then thought about all that he said. When he payed close attention to how desperate and foolish he sounded, he knew immediately that Rhysol would not answer. Not even he would think twice about a child the same as him. Finding his prayer hopeless, the boy gathered his property and stood from where he was once knelt. Light shook his head then rubbed his hair in a show of frustration. When he now thought of his worship, he became stressful and his head caused him pain. Most likely, a show that he did not want to think about it.

The boy stayed in the temple- at the far end near an isolated wall- and watched others pray for their patron God, some even for The Voice. He loved the sight and found great bliss with every outspoken prayer he heard. The temple was a wonderful place for the boy to feel true peace, the holy site where he could be a little closer to his one true God. He really loved it there. If he could he would spend the rest of his life inside the temple.

Postby Clyde Sullins on March 4th, 2015, 6:38 pm

Soon enough another person entered, someone else who seemed focused utterly on the task of annoying Clyde. He'd met Nitrozians before, and hadn't had issue with them. Although one had assumed in the heat of an assassination attempt that Clyde was one of said assassins, simply for being a mage displaying magic... He let that go though, due to the heat of the moment, and the common suspicion of mages.

This new Nitrozian though, seemed keen on showing the heights of his own ineptitude. Blathering on about arming people with cursed weapons, and poisoned fisheries, and other such nonsense. Clyde decided to ignore most of what he said, as it seemed rather pointless. He was just another person attempting to seem important by spouting on mindless drivel and half informed nonsense.

Funny how people spoke of magic when they thought the mage was on their side, believing it could be churned out at will and en mass, and for the silliest reasons. If half the mages he'd met weren't crazy, he'd almost prefer their company over non mages. Though even with the crazy ones the conversations were usually enlightening and interesting... So perhaps he would prefer a half crazed mage to speak with, over some of the mundane specimen of humans he so often saw.

In Clyde's case his own choosing to be silent, and his fake smile plastered on, was a sign of his own growing annoyance and discontent. Ironic that the Acolyte would think it meant the opposite, that Clyde had been cowed. Silence with Clyde usually meant that whatever he wanted to say would likely result in him setting half the room ablaze, and so he chose to listen instead. A silent Clyde was certainly much more dangerous of a sign than a talkative one. If Clyde had known of the Acolytes thought about him, likely his smile would have turned true.

“Master Sullins and Miss Marin both possess strong ability in Reimancy. I am sure they would be capable of keeping the beast from destroying the city. If not, I am sure they wouldn’t mind assistance from other members of the Ebonstryfe or Institute of Higher Learning with the same ability.”

Clyde let out a huff of air, interested now in talks of Reimancy... Water attraction could likely cause an upward swell and pull, and keep the beast from diving... Perhaps with a well placed bolt of lightning or two to stun it for a moment. The IHL had other Reimancers, though none as skilled as Clyde himself was, nor likely Anna... And with the monster being submerged half in water, the lightning might be all the more effective and likely to strike. He did not argue with that aspect of the plan.

“I think this is the route you seem set on, and I am willing to support it. Poisoner, I will send an Acolyte with you to collect both the poison that we will be using, and the Vilemoss. Perhaps Mister Sullins would join you?”

Under his breath Clyde responded, grumbling, though loud enough for most to likely here. “Anything to get out of this blasted meeting.” He ended this with a nod of acceptance.

Another Acolyte entered, apparently to escort the two members of the group. Clyde wasn't sure why they needed an escort, since he doubted anyone could stop them with Clyde along, even a angry horde of yukmen, something had before faced down alone. Not that such a thing could make it within Ravok, but that was where Clyde's mind went to.

“Miss Grey will escort the pair of you. Please meet us at the Northern Docks, near the Healing Hand… in half a bell.”

Rising from his seat, and taking Cha a bit more securely in hand, Clyde headed out of the room and onward to get the needed poison from Nolan's shop with the others. He'd seen him make it, though didn't know how to do it himself. But Nolan had made extra, and so it should be simple enough to go and fetch some more of the processed poison. If he'd used it all, he supposed Clyde could summon more. But he doubted they had the time to summon and process more.

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

Alea wasn't entirely sure what her part in the plan was supposed to be. In fact, she wasn't even sure she had a part. But she had gone through a lot of trouble to be here, and she wasn't about to miss the chance to find out what would happen.

She sidled over to the hissing strangers. She didn't really want to go with any of the Ravokians; they were being even bigger jerks than usual today. She addressed all three of the strangers at once, not yet able to tell them apart. "Mind if I follow you?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

All left the room, and all split into their pre-defined groups. The first group to leave, walking through the little of the Temple, was led by the other Acolyte, Stephin, and would be heading out in search of the prime area to find and, then, attack the beast. The three Ivyess remained in this group, at they would be best put to use in helping that group. They knew the movements of the Fish Monster better than anyone else, and they also had abilities that none of the land-dwellers had - racial gifts that could be of great use. As they left, it was the youngest Ivyess Dhani, Vesse that Alea approached, and the Dhani was quick to reply, “
Of courssse, girl.

These Dhani, having remained in the depths of Lake Ravok for the majority of their lives, had no concept of slavery, and thus did not understand the others’ dislike for he girl, calling her a ‘slave’. The Acolyte’s gaze was ignored as the Dhani engaged in conversation with the girl, “
You are having sssomething on your wrissst which you sssay would caussse the Fisssh not to eat? You know thisss Fisssh is bigger than your wrissst?” Vesse smiled kindly as they continued to walk through the main prayer room of the Temple, and turned away to analyse the room as a whole.

‘Tisss remarkable… thessse buildings you have created. A ssshrine to a God, no?” The elder Dhani spoke, to anyone in their group that would answer as they passed a young man praying near to the central piece on the Temple of the Black Sun. Not understanding the need for discretion, the foreigner continued talking as if they were still in the private of the Summit Room. “The Fisssh doessss not like to venture near to this… Ssshard. We will need to either head to the outskirts of your floating city, or onto the watersss to find it-

This is not the place to be discussing these sensitive matters, Madam.” Acolyte Xeres cut in, effectively silencing Yseuse… as politely as he could muster the diplomacy to do so. “This not not something we share lightly with the general populous.” His voice was low, almost hissed to the woman, but anyone close enough, and straining, would hear. Then his voice went back to the regular volume, “we will be using ravosalas to reach the edge of the city, for now.

The second group was guided by the Acolyte, Evelyn Grey - one who had worked with “Nolan Parnell” many times, was give leading the poison crafter and the Ebonstryfe soldier to the former’s crafting labs and poison shop, where she hoped that the Vilemoss would be waiting ready for them to take immediately. Stephin Xeres had given her a quick brief before leaving with the Dhani and others present at the Summit, as the second group to leave the corridors behind the main room of the Temple of the Black Sun. “
Welcome back to Ravok, soldier,” the Acolyte greeted the one she had never met, “I understand it’s a short stay… I hope it’s not a too… stagnant visit for you?” She smiled, “I’m Evelyn Grey.” The journey to Ino Vations was short, and Evelyn opened the door and ushered the two gentlemen in.

NoteGuys... c'mon. Have I seriously only got three people in this?
Light - you have the option to follow either party (as you should have hopefully heard at least a snippet of information from one of the speakers), and integrate or just stalk as you see fit.

Alea shrugged, but jumped onto the chance to talk to someone who spoke to her like a person, rather than a piece of furniture they had just stubbed their toe on. Though she grimaced at the slightly condescending was the hissing stranger discussed the fish's size. "Well, yeah, obviously it's bigger if it's eating people. But maybe it has some kind of, I dunno, appendage or... or protrusion. It doesn't have to be much, the bracelet grabs on by itself."

To demonstrate, she began detaching the teeth from her wrist, one by one. She winced and hissed as each one pulled free, leaving a small red welt where it had rooted itself in her skin. When she finished removing it, she held it tightly in her fist.

"I'm not sure how it works, but when I have the bracelet on, eating meat makes me sick. Other stuff is fine though." She shrugged. "That other guy didn't seem to think it would work on a monster. But I don't know if I believe him. Magic is magic. Why would size make a difference?"

After a few more chimes, when tongues had been still for several ticks at a time, she added reluctantly, "Also I think the bracelet is cursed. The person who owned it last was killed by a crazy fire mage." She shuddered, her mind trying desperately to dodge the memory.

OOCWe'd better hurry up and finish the quest before the number drops even further x.x Also note to Nemesis: I've made references to the bracelet in threads after this one, so hopefully I either don't lose it, or I get it back before the end of the season ^^; Or there's a paradox. Or Alea has hallucinations. That's it, if Alea looses the bracelet, she has hallucinations of it for a while :D

Following along with his group, Clyde met a new Acolyte, or at least one he'd yet to be introduced to.

He wasn't one for idle chatter, and so he did not initiate conversation with the others as he walked. He had better things to do with his time than exchange pleasantries and such.

This plot was just one of many Clyde was involved with. Some would likely never happen, some where purely in the idea stage, and some were long drawn out processes that wouldn't see fruition for seasons or longer.

Such plotting and thoughts and ideas where usually what kept Clyde's mind busy in his idle moments, so much as they could truly be called idle.

With that in mind, it took Clyde a moment to register the comment directed at him, and to respond.

“Welcome back to Ravok, soldier, I understand it’s a short stay… I hope it’s not a too… stagnant visit for you?”

“I’m Evelyn Grey.”

Clyde nodded, turning to meet her gaze once, and then staring ahead as he walked instead of meeting her eyes through his response.

“Yes, probably short. But stagnant... I tend to draw my own intrigue. Somehow I doubt I'll leave without something of interest or note occurring. Or perhaps yet another few people banging on my door asking to be trained in arcane matters... I swear it happens every time I return Mrs.Grey. There must be a posting somewhere I've yet to see that alerts such people.”

Clyde smirked for a moment, and once more met the acolytes gaze, before turning back to his walking. As he'd made mention of "arcane matters" Clyde had absentmindedly clung to Cha with both hands, letting one hand stroke at her blue wooden surface as one might a lover, or some object or toy of ones childhood that brought comfort and security.

“Perhaps though I'll get something accomplished before I go.”

It could be taken from his words that Clyde did not find today's events such an event of note. Or perhaps not, it would depend upon how the listener interpreted his words. But in truth Clyde found the events so far today, the meeting of the snake-ish Dhani, and the talks, as little of note. Perhaps though once they actually got to the active part of the plan he would grow more interested.

As it was Clyde found most of today's events rather tedious, and was glad when they arrived at the poisoners shop, and headed inside.

OOCNemesis, we have a slave who apparently wants to commit suicide by fighting the fish monster, a man who's only use is probably to commit suicide by fighting the fish monster, and a mildly-angry mage who might be the only one who knows how to fight the fish monster and live... We got this!

A great deal of time passed before Light had decided to pray again. He wanted to try talking to Rhysol again, maybe this time he not could seem very desperate.

He walked to the black rock and fell to his knees before it. Once again he took off his weapons and stared into the darkness of the boulder.

Rhysol- he started, but was interrupted by muffled noises. It sounded as though a woman was speaking. If he payed close attention he could almost make out what they said.

Something, something, wrissst; something, something, fisssh nautu beat? It was very hard to listen, but the echo of the walls delivered enough to gain Light's attention.

Other than words, Light could hear footsteps, many footsteps. Some where heavy, others nearly silent. The sounds came from above his head and to the right of him. As time moved on the sounds became louder and more susceptible to eavesdropping.

What seemed like a young girl's voice said, "Well, yeah, obviously it's bigger if it's eating people. But maybe it has some kind of, I dunno, appendage or... or protrusion."

Light's ears twitched. He began to second guess if what he had heard was clear. Did the girl just speak about an animal that eats people? The only beast that Light heard of that was truly successful at eating people was the fish monster of lake Ravok. Could she be talking about that creature, the one that has brought terror into the minds of both citizens and non-citizens of Ravok? He continued to listen.

"I'm not sure how it works, but when I have the bracelet on, eating meat makes me sick. Other stuff is fine though.

That other guy didn't seem to think it would work on a monster. But I don't know if I believe him. Magic is magic. Why would size make a difference?"

Magic? Monster? What!? He listened closer and found himself hearing clear sounds and seeing where those sounds, and the prior sounds, came from.

A lot of figures walked down a staircase. Light cocked his head to the side to see them all. Two men and five women. He looked closer and saw that one man had a loss of irises in their eyes, but a mark where one iris should be- so did one of the female of the group from a closer inspection. By the way they dressed, Light figured them to be Acolyte agents, which he thought was extremely cool! They had connections with Rhysol and probably even met them once. If he were not eavesdropping, he would definitely speak with them.

"Tisss remarkable… thessse buildings you have created. A ssshrine to a God, no?" This was said by the older woman of the group. She poke with an unmistakable lisp that discriminated her to only one group, the Dhani. Ever since the Dhani's surfaced unto Ravok, stories of the lake monsters spread like wildfire. Even more, the knowledge of the Dhani race.

An acolyte with four women, one of which has the same speech pattern of a water race thrown from their home by a monster, are now talking about a monster and fish, Light thought. He worked to stop from turning his face into a mischievous grin. I smell a monster slaying quest I wasn't invited to.

This time the man listened very closely as the eldest woman continued conspicuously speaking. "The Fisssh doessss not like to venture near to this… Ssshard. We will need to either head to the outskirts of your floating city, or onto the watersss to find it-”

Light practically shivered with excitement by the thought of joining the crew on this quest, but he froze when the Dhani was cut off by an acolyte accompanying them.

“This is not the place to be discussing these sensitive matters," the Acolyte said in a near whisper, but Light could still clearly hear. "This not not something we share lightly with the general populous.”

Light stayed stiff in his praying position like a wooden board. His eyes were wide open and sweat began to drip from his pores. Should I listen to them? he wondered.

To eavesdrop on an unauthorized conversation was stealing secrets of the black sun. Did doing so make him an enemy, he wondered. Being an enemy of the black sun was like signing a death waver. No one messed with Rhysol's army now, not even the terrorist group who destroyed the third temple appeared anymore.

He clenched his fists and shook a little. This is a test isn't it lord Rhysol? Light thought. A test to see if I am truly worthy of joining your army.

He remained stiff and listened as the group left. He lowered his head and closed his eyes. Inside, his mind was a battlefield where beliefs and fears clashed together.

Should he be apart of this? He was but a man with tiny skills and of little help. He would probably just get in the way, or be secretly used as bait. But it was a test from Rhysol! He asked for a chance and here it was! Why would he not take it!?

I will pass this test, he thought. And when I do, I will prove to you that I am worthy of being among you.

With that in his mind, he stood, collected his weapons again, and walked out the temple. The group quickly split into two- one traveling by ravosala and the other by foot. After great discussion with himself, Light decided to follow the ones on foot. Following a ravosala was a great challenge, and he could be spotted easily by his target if they did so much as look at their back. On foot seemed the best option.

Light followed far behind, moving as though he was taking a nice- calm stroll down Ravok. He moved even slower to not draw their attention. He studied the group a little more, but looked away every-so-often out of some sort of guilt ridding habit.

After trekking for a small portion in time, the group Light followed entered a black building. He continued to walk past the building, throwing a small glance at it to read a sign that said, "For all your preemptive self-defense needs!"

Light strolled to the next building and hid himself behind its structure. He would remain there and wait for the group to come out. When they did he would follow them in secret to his Gods test.
