Reunions

There was the deep breath before her hand reached out to the latch of the door and held there for a few moments longer. She steeled herself, her body filled with aches and pains the like of which she had not experienced for some time. She cast her gaze around and wished she could just burn the whole place down, it was far too close to memories long buried of her non-existent childhood. She looked sideways and took a moment to kneel down wearily next to Fallon. She didn’t touch her, that would have been beyond foolish considering her mind set. She did, however, feel the need to give reassurance.

“I’ll get you out again, like last time. You don’t remember, but I did. Stay near Shai, don’t do anything stupid, be the woman I know again and for god’s sake don’t get killed” she muttered softly with her hand hovering just a fraction away from the woman’s shoulder.

That done she pushed herself up and flicked the latch slowly upwards until it could be slid over the catch and the door began to open. Just a crack at first so that she could peer through, though seeing nothing she pulled it open slowly but surely, just waiting for the creak that luckily never came. She looked at the door – leather hinges – they had some damned luck for once. She stepped through and saw nothing, tilted her head and the noise could be heard from the right., a side room perhaps. She stepped carefully out into the open room, feet placed carefully and rolling from heel to toe along the instep so as to decrease the sound o the footfalls. The light was flickering from around the corner and as she held her tonfa in her right hand she led her left hand up and counted out the voices as she heard them.

All three….good…nowhere to search for them then. Quick, clean, win. Nothing else. Already wounded, few more cuts won’t matter she told herself as she let her left hand fall and took a deep breath once more – now or never.

She took a glance around and gripped upon a stray piece of wood leaning against the corner, it looked like it was being shaped into something but what it could have been would never be reached now. She tossed it across the opening and it clattered away across some crates and barrels. The talking ceased and silence rippled for a few ticks where she hoped beyond hope that they would take the bait. Her silent request was answered quickly enough as the sound of rushing footfalls began to reach her ears. Placing her back squarely against the corner her right arm was across her body now as she gauged in her memory the height of the men and listened for all that she was worth. Tonfa was in place across her forearm as her arm snapped out across the opening and smashed into one of the thugs noses with a spray of blood. His own momentum caused him to lose his footing and skid along on his back to crash into the wall opposite – there to slump into a heap.

“Surprise vagik” she growled as the tableaux became kinetic once more and she stepped into the second thug’s personal space.

She ducked under his wild swing and her tonfa flicked out to crack at his wrist to numb the grip of the weapon there. He lunged and she sidestepped to shove him out towards the other two – she hoped they had followed her and were capable – with a glancing blow to the back of his head as he passed. He would still be standing, if a bit dazed, her blow was not hard enough to bring him down but she didn't care. She ignored him then, she was after the woman and as she stepped into what she presumed was the poor excuse for their mess room she found herself laughing in a slightly manic way. The woman was hissing like a drenched cat – she was boxed in. The corridor she had just sacrificed her men in was the only was out for her. Zandelia stepped forwards as she continued to laugh between words.

“Nowehere to run now little girl, except through us. Oh I will enjoy this”

“You won’t kill me, you need me”

“Oh really?” she asked as she wiped the back of her free hand across her mouth, “well you’re right about one of them. I’m not going to kill you. Oh no…I can be far more…inventive” she all bus snarled.

“You two alright back there? If she has any other guards coming now is the time to tell me so I can knock this whore out for later”

“Petch you, I’m no whore!”

“Not…yet,” she hissed at the woman whilst keeping her gaze fixed very carefully upon her, “any more men? Yes? No?”

“Shyke off to Hai and get gutted” she dove forwards then, mad with anger mixed with fear perhaps, she did manage to cannon into her which Zandelia respected her for. It was just a shame that she wasn’t smart enough to get a decent grip on her. She kicked out as her back hit the floor, pushing the woman into the air and to shatter a few chairs as she was flipped into the corner of the room.

“You first,” she pushed herself up with more than a few winces of pain, “grab her and tell me she is alive please. We’re going to use her as a message” she groaned as she retrieved her tonfa and rolled into her front with a his, there to lumber back to her feet once more.

“The wolf and the spider okay?” were the next questions of priority.

Reunions

There was a blink down to the knives as they clattered to the ground, her form shrinking away from them as they stilled and glinted in the low light. It was slowly that she tapped them, finger tips burning where the nails had been ripped and the rest left tender. A tremble as she picked them up within her fingers, feeling the unfamiliar weight resting there as she tried to understand what was wanted. Around her the more conscious and thinking of the two women were buzzing, plans formulated and the luring forward out of their imprisonment there. There was a low, warning hiss when Zandelia came closer, the mind and the body momentarily caught up within itself, the form once more curling in defensively. But she heard those words, the smallest lean forward to the soft tones, before once moving away to the door.

"Dropped. Dropped. Why?" Taking the rest of the knives up she held onto them and took to the rear of the escape, steps slower and her form swaying as she moved. Bare feet nearly dragging, her shoulder bumping into the wall as she tried to follow. Ahead she could hear the sound of combat, raised voices in anger, the snarling of Zandelia as she looked only for revenge now. Pushing off from the wall once more she gave another stagger, her mind not quite working as she came closer, her hands serving as guides and the little bits of strength to edge her forward. Nostrils flared, the damp caressing and consuming, every crunch and crash causing her to flinch and pause.

Blinking slowly she shifted, peering down at the men who were still where they lay, her lips twitching and moving, the momentary flicker of fear as she heard the angered hiss, louder and clearer now. It was enough to cause her to back off, steps backwards as the perceived danger shifted between the groups. The mind flared up, head lowering and curling up into her neck, lips pulling back as she traced around the edge of the room - eyeballing Zandelia warily as she stepped. Slinking and checking almost.

As far as she was aware there was no one else, she heard no running footsteps of aid, no shouts of another guard. But that was the faint breathing of the woman, the faint groaning of discomfort as she closed in. It was peer over the wreckage that she glanced. Battered, she could see the eyes staring back up through, the lips pursing into a line and finally a sneer. It was with violent nodding that Fallon backed away to safety, hands raised up and clutching the knives tightly. She did not know how to use them, and so her shaking hands gripped tightly around the blades as she retreated back to the corridor, voice croaking as it spoke, "Awake. Awake. Going to come. Going to.... Need to leave. Need to. Need."

Fallon's skin writhed, the want for safety and simplicity clear upon her face, her voice shivering with fear. She did not want to see what happened next, her mind ignited and trembling. She would have bolted had she been able to, but her form for the most part had crumbled, back once more against the wall and her frame sliding down it. Every sound amplified, every creak a loud howling moan. It was all senseless and consuming, the knowing of the impending wrath smothering her mind. And all she wanted to do was run away.

Reunions

Shai took up her place between Bitzer and Zandelia. Letting the spy take the vanguard, the spider had no compulsion against being the currently-fragile woman’s shield. Her friend’s tonfas laid waste to the male thugs. One of which Shai had to shift out of the way as he fell backwards. The woman was a warpath.

As far as Shai could tell there were no other guards. As the trio advanced into the room, Shai split off. No doubt Zandelia had the enemy handled and Bitzer wouldn’t receive any solace from Shai’s closeness. Instead, the spider moved throughout the room in a way she couldn’t during her first traversal. Two things were chief in her mind as she rifled through the contents of the room; items of monetary value and items of informational value.

Work had been her original intent for this night, and though sidetracked the spider had no problem with returning to her chief purpose. In the end all she managed to locate was a secured footlocker, it would take longer than she would have to open it and so she simply cradled it under one arm. Light toes tapped back to Zandelia’s side. “Do you intend to transport her, or interrogate her here?” Shai’s head tilted slightly as she examined the corner wretch. “I can secure the location or scout a path and keep it clear, it is your call. Just say the word and we will not be interfered with.”

Turning once more she moved towards Bitzer. Holding her free hand out to the mercenary, she offered exactly what she denied the first time they met. Now though, the palm was not a greeting but an offer. Hard times forged hard women and yet again stronger bonds. That was the glue of the relationship between Shai and Zandelia, and there was no reason the spider could see not to do the same for the third. Bitzer had never been Edge, but then again none of them were anymore. “You need to leave, well it is about time we all do.” She murmured against the enemy’s whimpering retorts.

Reunions

She rolled over onto her front at the confirmations of being out of immediate danger and breathed out tiredly into the compact dirt below. It took her a few moments to gather her reserves, what remained of them, and pushed herself up slowly as her body grumbled to her of its grievances. She ignored them as best she could until she was upon her knees, making her way shakily towards the crumpled form of their chief captor. As she passed the boots she pulled out the two daggers and straddled the woman's chest. It took considerable effort but heaving them both, one in each hand, she levered her knees upon the woman's upper arms and then drove the points down through the palms to pin them into the floor. There was a scream and a thrashing until she chopped at her throat and that turned to strained gurgling.

“Shut up,” she hissed, “you wanted us. Now you have us. Don't complain because you lost” she growled.

It was then that the punches flew, down and into the woman's face until her knuckles were bruised and bloodied tot he point of almost damaging herself in the process beyond further aches and pains. The girl's form slumped beneath her and with that she pulled one dagger out and levered the jaw open, fingers seeking and pinching as the blade sliced across. She threw the tongue's tip to the side and pushed herself up once more. She pulled the other dagger out of the last hand before throwing them both to the side too. With that she pushed herself upwards and to the side, to her feet once more as she glared down, emerald orb flinty and hard.

“You won't need a tongue for what I have in mind, just your legs open. We don't interrogate these types, we make an example of them Shai. An example to all who would think us prey” she stated in a cold tone of voice before grabbing the woman by one of her boots and began the long process of dragging her behind as she put one foot before the other in a stubborn repetition.

“Get her to our home Shai. And Shai....thank you. For helping us. I am in your debt. I...well I have business to attend to for this one” she grunted out between breaths as they made their way towards the exit.

It took longer than she had thought it would but eventually they found a suitable place, open and in a part of Sunberth that was reputed for its night time proclivities. They drew a number of strange glances but none attempted to stop them. It short order their captor was unclothed, the garments used to secure her in place over a railing. A crowd had gathered by then, all leering and somewhat inebriated men from the smells and the wobbles. Her job done she slapped the woman's face and turned to them all.

“Take what you wish, every which way you want,” she then stared back at the woman, “way her own Hai follow her unto the ends of her days. Knowing that she played, lost and suffered for it” she spat at the ground and pushed her way out of the area.

It was done, they would know to what lengths she would now go in retribution upon those that dared harm the ones she loved. Hai had no fury than a Zandelia scorned. It had been a long evening but she began to make her way back towards the Quay House, there to rest and recover as best she could – and help Fallon do that too.

Reunions

As the two women worked their way around the room, Fallon kept her form still. Orbs watched from beneath the shadows of her eyes, the moment of hesitation as the Symestra took up the footlocker. She could hear a gentle clinking once more, her eyes flickering about as she tried to find its source. Zandelia was enraged, filled with wrath as she struck against the one who had caused all this pain to begin with. It was such viciousness that caused Fallon to simply curl up, hands protectively raising around her head in case such a temper turned onto her. The orbs cracked between the fingers, darting as the Symestra spoke to her and offered down that hand to her. A blink at the claw, she heard the words of her loved speak, the grunted words thick and bitter.

"Home?" she questioned the word, shoulders pressing up against the wall. She looked fearfully upon the hand, lips parting to release a defensive hiss. A trick, a trap, Zandelia did not want her, it must be true it must be. But still, she clambered up on her own accord, entire form hunched down. The voice gave a mumble, "Trick, trick. No home. No home..." The confusion rested upon her entire form, the careful padding steps as she warily embraced the outside world after them - unconscious body being dragged behind. Everything was vibrant, the scents and sensations different here. Toes sheepishly padded at the ground, the form slinking and sliding as she moved all so slowly.

Skin prickled, her form sticking into the shadows as she nervously followed behind for a while - and was later lead away back through the maze of alleyways and streets. There was pauses at the slightest pick up at noise, the form crumbling down as she heard the heavy steps and voices go on past. Every nudge to keep on walking, every small press to keep on moving. It was without thought that she continued, body rebelling to the movement, the sting clenching and sinking into her frame with each step. And then there was a pause, her entire form frozen on moment when she thought she was alone. Gone, had they abandoned her so soon? Was she nothing to them that they just left her on the streets - to wither and die?

Her head turned, a small flinch when Shai came back into view and quickly made her way after her. Sheppard easily, she allowed herself to be lead without complaint. And as the time passed and the walls of the Quay greeted her. Daunting, the final closing steps came to her as she hovered there, a pause at the wide gap of space in between. Through the gatehouse she whimpered, another pause as she peered out to the front door of the Quay house. Lips opened, her entire form hunched as the surroundings begun to tickle at her memory.

Darting out across, the hands slammed against the front door. Wildly grasping at the door handle as she shoved her form against it, no thought as she used the last of her trembling strength and threw herself into the low light of the house. She scrabbled after that, dipping into the streaked shadows to the safety of some corner. Hide, she had to hide, the voice whispered in her ears loudly and spurred her onwards to where she believed safety was. And so Fallon condemned herself to shadow and darkness, waiting in the depths for her moment of peace and to nurse herself alone.

Unfortunately I can't release your grade until you've paid for Spring 515AV living expenses (135GM/season for common, 45/GM for poor). PM me when you've done this and I'll release your grade :)

Comments :
Apologies for the delay here, guys! I found myself reading the thread out of pure enjoyment rather than to actually grade it... So I found myself backtracking every so often. Very well written and uplifting by the end of it (though very heartbreaking and raw at other times).

If you have any question about your grade, please don't hesitate to PM me :)
