Belated Birthday (Khara, Bran)

Only a nail to nibble on was not quite enough for Brandon, simply because it wasn’t very good nibble-material. A little too hard for his tastes, so he gently put his teeth in her finger instead, chewing softly. It reminded him of Kalinor; Dru’s scent, that is. It wasn’t just because she was a symenestra… no, that certainly wasn’t true. It was because of her race. But the scent of it was mostly covered by that of Wind Reach and its citizens, so Dru kind of smelled like an Inarta. Just a little bit.

One ear moved a little, and he froze for a tick as Dru started to talk about his ears and face. Then he just continued with something that might have resembled a shrug. After a while though, Brandon decided he’d had enough of the finger and released it, glancing around a little, trying to figure out whether he would climb around a bit or not. For one or other reason he really wanted to get on top of Dru’s head, but just like her, he feared he might end up getting tangled in her long hair. But a little bit of clambering around certainly wouldn’t hurt.

With his little bat claws, Brandon could easily move on walls and other rough surfaces, and clothes were no exception. Skin wouldn’t be either, but for that he’d have to actually pierce it; he couldn’t grab it with only his thumbs after all. So it seemed that because of the Inarta fashion, he was stuck on Dru’s torso, but he did not really mind at all. Instead, he began to move down her shoulder, onto her back, grabbing the fabric of her shirt-like garment with his hind claws and hooking his thumb claws through it. Brandon moved down a bit, exploring the edge of the piece of clothing, and then decided to go round, stumbling into the barrier that was Drusilla’s hair.

But he could move underneath it, Brandon was sure of it. As such he clambered onwards, step by step, through the mane of long pale hairs until he managed to reach the other side, emerging with long strands clinging to him, but sliding off soon enough. Before long, Brandon was on the side of her body, going up, discovering he’d reached the other shoulder.

Belated Birthday (Khara, Bran)

Postby Drusilla on April 30th, 2015, 7:54 am

Drusilla pulled her hand away as the bat grew bored of it and turned her full attention to Khara. "No, dresses vary just as much as those who wear them. They can be floor length, knee length, or even shorter. Some are form fitting, others are more airy and flowy. They can have long sleeves, no sleeves, straps, or even strapless! I made Azira a dress custom to her. You are a very different person and so would your dress be different. I've also spoken to Sira about a dress as well. I want all the women of Wind Reach to have a dress they feel beautiful in." Drusilla smiled. "With your permission I could work out some sketches that would be a start and work from there, with changes and alterations."

A happy smirk came to her face, "I'm glad to see you're still up for it and still so excited! It's even exciting for me. Living above as a 'surface walker' I don't get to climb things like the Symenestra in Kalinor. But, in return I understand more about walking. Most of my kind don't understand that surfaces should be level. The inn that caters to visitors has a staircase that people have a hard time climbing, the stairs are crooked and slanted. It's kind of funny to me, a failed set of stairs..." She chuckled to herself.

Drusilla outright laughed, "If those rabbits have any sense they'd up and move far from anywhere Azira knows of!" She paused for a tick. "Speaking of Azira... We had a chat over if any animal could be trained. I said it depends on your will to train said animal, she disagreed. I brought up being able to... train... a... bat..." Drusilla was feeling her shoulder, which was vacant. Panicked her eyes darted around, it took a double take to see the bat had switched shoulders. Drusilla gave a relieved laugh, "Are you getting antsy? Want up?" She pointed to her head and offered the bat a lift to her head. "Up?"

"We should be heading home soon. I'm sure Bitta's getting hungry, and with a few deks he should have a full belly tonight. Or at least he'll get more food that I can catch on my own."

Belated Birthday (Khara, Bran)

Postby Khara on May 2nd, 2015, 7:58 pm

Khara tried to keep watching the bat as Drusilla spoke about the dresses, her attention torn between the two even as the small animal disappeared behind Dru's back. She did listen, though, but it was hard to picture all the different options that the seamstress was speaking about. Sleeves, no sleeves, no straps - how could all those different things be possible from one garment? True there were many different styles of vinati, she even owned one that looked almost more like a highly shortened tunic now, but dresses were more covering, weren't they, what would it even look like?

As if the Symenestra could read minds, Drusilla made a comments about making some sketches - yes, that would help to picture it better. Though the asking for her permission just to draw a few things seemed very wrong, especially considering Dru's new status. "O-of course you can. I look forward to seeing what you draw up."

While still uncertain about the prospect of the dress as a whole, Khara had always been a curious girl and she was genuinely interested in seeing what sort of dress that the Symenestra thought would be right for her. She was equally curious when Dru began to speak of Kalinor and the strange staircase at an inn. That too was something she found difficult to imagine, Kalinor was in caverns like Wind Reach yet it wasn't a thing like the volcanic city as far as Khara could tell. It sounded more like the lower warrens or maybe the Underground Forest - Not that Khara had actually ever been to either one.

The bat reappeared, scaling Dru's opposite shoulder and no sooner had the Avora noticed he had moved and relocated him than she suggested it was time they leave. She had a good point, maybe the bat was starting to become more active since it was hungry, it was hard to tell.

"I wish you luck, one of these night we will try the honey traps, just let me know when. Hopefully I will not be so late with the hunters when you need me." Khara looked back to the bat on Dru's shoulder and immediately felt her lips tug into a smile again. "Thank you for coming by, though. And for the gifts... and for bringing him with you. I'm sorry there's more I cant do to help."

For a moment Khara was tempted to reach out and maybe pet the bat, to say thank you to him as well in a little way, but one glance at the purple ribbon tied around Dru's finger kept her in place. No, maybe it was best to wait until it had gotten more used to people before trying to make friends with the creature - if Drusilla kept him around long enough.

Belated Birthday (Khara, Bran)

Up was good, yes, and Brandon clambered onto the hand Dru held out for him. Before he knew it, he was sitting on top of the Symenestra's head, watching down on the two conversationalists with gleaming beady eyes. Brandon was indeed getting a bit restless, he wanted to spread his wings and fly around a bit, getting rid of the sore stiffness that had settled in his wings, though the wound on his back would not allow it. Nor would Drusilla. Neither would his common sense. Last time he'd been injured rather badly he hadn't been able to wait around, having gone for a flight anyway. Needless to say it did not really end well. He'd made his muscles only more sore.

Fortunately though, it had started to rain soon, and he'd had no choice but to cease flight and hide in a cave. Not one of the most pleasant nights, surrounded by a lot of cousins making a ruckus and wanting to be out and about. Though it hadn't been the worst either, not at all. Despite all that, the bat still wanted to fly around; the psychological torture was too much. He was stuck in bat form -well, not really, but he did not want to worsen his injury by shifting, and that would probably tear out the stitches too- but he could not fly. Though, it may trump being a human though... There were a lot more things he'd want to do when assuming the shape of a man...

Like running, jumping, tumbling, hand-springing, making somersaults and practicing unarmed combat. Rope-walking, exercising and climbing. Cartwheeling and picking locks. Hiding in the shadows or on high places. Sneaking into places he was not supposed to be, claim a trophy and get out without being seen. Too petching many things! Thinking about it did not really make him feel better, nor did picturing it in his mind. A hind leg reached out and scratched away an itch, carefully staying away from the wound on his back, though since the itch came from that exact spot, it did not really help. He snorted in frustration, curling up his upper lip for a tick, revealing his sharp white teeth.

It was already getting close to evening, he could feel it. He knew it, and so did his body. That was probably the reason for his sudden restlessness, the pent up energy wanting to be released. Now Dru mentioned it, yes, he was indeed getting hungry. Well, hungrier than before. He'd been hungry from the start, but that mattered little now. His stomach felt like a pit of sink-sand, but that did not changed the fact that he would probably be hungry for the rest of his stay with the Symenestra. No surprise, he couldn't expect her to be an expert insect hunter, like he was. She couldn't catch the thousands of bugs he ate in a night. If only he could eat other things in this form... Ah well, he would endure, he would survive. He'd survived his trip to this city too, hadn't he? He'd been close to death, but he was still among the living, wasn't he? A bit of starvation wouldn't kill him either. Hopefully.

Either way, leaving sounded good. Food sounded good. Crawling in circles on a bed sounded good too. Wait, she hadn't mentioned that had she? No, did not matter, he'd do that anyway. With one thumb-claw, the bat pulled at Dru's head, as if to try and steer her away from the redhead girl, towards the door.

Belated Birthday (Khara, Bran)

Postby Drusilla on May 7th, 2015, 10:31 am

All Drusilla could do was laugh at the little tugs she felt pulling at her hair, "Okay! Okay! I'll get moving! But if you're going to stay up there you better hold on!" She aimed her vision to the top of her head, not that she could see the bat... But she tried to turn her attention toward whoever she spoke too. That counted the little bat as well.

Turning to Khara Drusilla smiled, "He's tugging at my hair. Antsy little thing! I guess he says it's time for us to be on our way." Drusilla stood and covered the cage before holding it by it's top. "I guess he's riding home." She chuckled, "It was nice to see you chickadee. Once again, Happy Belated Birthday. I'll get to work on the designs. Thank you for having m- us. Thank you for having us."

She spoke to the bat as she left, "I told you to hold on.." A sigh. "Well I have to go get some people if you're gonna eat any better.... Don't make that noise at me! Well, squeaky squeak grunt to you too!" With that she was off to gather the deks she'd need, arguing with the bat the entire way. Had it not been so comical people might of been worried by the Symenestra.

Truth Hidden by a Mirage :
This was a cute little thread, of a type I will be honest and say I am not used to grading. Purely social threads that are not filled with politics and backstabbing are more or less a new thing to me lol. There was not really a whole lot that I could find skill or lore wise here, but I thought it was cool to see the development between the three characters which, in my opinion, is even more important than just lore or XP points.

Brandon, sorry! There just wasn't much there for you. Half the conversation was in a language he didn't understand, at least the half where he could get lores, and the rest of the time he was just being a cute bat. Loved how you portrayed it though keep it up :)

Khara, well done I really do enjoy your writing. I gave you that point in acting for that little bit of hesitation where she tried to make herself sound more happy than she actually was. Acting is always a good skill to learn, maybe she can take it further one day.

Drusilla I just want to make a quick note on your languages. Common is set to basic but in this thread you were writing it as if she were completely fluent in the language itself. At basic there should be a lot more stumbling, hesitation and searching for the right words. You can probably pieces together the right sentence structure but it would take more conscious effort than you showed in this thread. Be more mindful of this in the future and you should be good to go.

All right all in all good thread you guys! If you think I have missed anything do not hesitate to let me know, and as always Happy Writing!

Question your Reality,
Mirage
