Flames, By Chance (Clyde)

Talya meets Clyde after having a misshap with her fire.

While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

It was one of her first times outside of the city; and the idea that she was heading to foreign lands felt as unfamiliar to her as these woods. Pine and oak reaching for the sky. Their scraggly, twisted branches interwoven as the sun beat down on their bodies; filtering through the leaves, rustling softly in the wind. Their long shadows crawling across the hard-packed soil of the forest floor. Marred by the occasional patch of grass, or aged dandelions, if not a shrubbery tucked into a tight nook beside a tree. The air largely warm, although it was cooler down in the darkness of the trees, nestled between their midst. The sky a soft blue as the sun hung high overhead, suggesting that it was nearing noon, if not just past. A time in which Talya's stomach began to rumble, as it was typically the sort of time she took her lunch back in the city, which meant, now was likely as good a time as any other for her to take it out in the Wildlands too. Especially considering how she had been traveling for the larger portion of the day. So, she stopped in a clearing ringed by trees, and decided to make a fire to re-jerkify some meat she had brought from the city, as for whatever reason, she had always preferred things well charred.

So, Tal set her pack down on the side of the clearing, and then, drew a circle in the middle with her foot. Etching it lightly in the dirt, so that she would know where to build the fire- a place equidistant from the trees, a place, she supposed, where it would be the least likely for her to burn anything. With that done, she realized she would need things to burn, and headed into the thicket of the forest to retrieve some wood- whatever she found on the ground mainly, as she didn't want to harm any of the living trees. So, she grabbed some small, splintering sticks, which looked as though they had been broken off nearby trees in the storm, and she picked up a few leaves and twigs for kindling and headed back to the site where she planned to build her fire.

When she got there, Tal dropped her things off by the side of the circle, and then, began to sort all the sticks she had collected based off their size. When she was finished, she began to make a sort of box in the center of the circle. A lopsided thing, which looked like it could have been a log cabin without the roof and mud tucked between boards to keep everything together. It wasn't very sturdy, and if she wasn't careful, the logs would roll as they weren't locked to well together, but over this, Tal didn't worry, as she didn't intend to keep the fire long or burn herself, and as far as she knew, it couldn't pass over mud without going out anyway.

So, Tal reached for two leftover sticks before inching closer to the site of the future fire, kneeling by its side. She held one stick in each of her hands, and lightly, pressed them together so that they formed a cross. She then began to rub them together. Furiously, so that the bark that remained began to scrape off, and little bits got tossed against her structure of logs. So that the flesh of the stick itself seemed to whiten and grow more smooth, and gradually, the implements grew warm in her hands, although nothing happened.

Deciding, after about fifteen minutes, that nothing was going to, as nothing had as of yet, Tal put the sticks aside, went over to her bag, and rummaged around, until she brought up her flint and steel, and remembered what they were used for- building a fire.

Tal then returned to her fire site, and knelt over it, just as she had before when she was using the sticks. She held the flint in her right hand, and the steel in the left. She then began to strike the steel against the flint, as she held it down into the center of the pit. She heard a faint click-clacking noise as she did so for several minutes, and then grew excited as it began to spark a few times, but catch on... nothing.

Which made her think, that perhaps she should add the kindling. So, Tal put down her flint and steel, and picked up the kindling. Some she wove into the structure of the pit's frame, which lent it some level of strength and support, and the rest she dropped in the center of the pit, rather unceremoniously. She looked down at it a moment later, and realizing that it seemed like nothing at all, and might not be enough, she went to gather some more and stick it in the pit before coming back. When she had done so, she picked up the flint and steel again, and began to slide the steel against the flint. Striking them together as she lowered her hands into the midst of the pit, just to help ensure that the spark caught, and took flame when she managed to attain another.

It took Talya several more minutes, but finally, she managed to create a spark that took, and like the kindling. Instantly, as her hands began to glow a faint orange, as they grew warm, she pulled them away and out of the fire. She watched as the kindling began to smoke; a thin tendril rising into the air as the twigs curled and burnt. Pointing at the sky as the leaves blackened and split apart as the flame licked and consumed them. Spitting shards as she pulled away a little more, and then picked up the ends of her dress, and fanned the flame. It didn't seem to work very well, so Tal stopped and smoothed out her dress with her hands, before moving her head beside the pillar of smoke and blowing on the fire until it grew to be a lightly crackling thing.

With that done, she got her jerky from her bag, stuck it on the end of one of the leftover sticks, and held it over the fire until she had practically burnt it to a crisp. At that time, she removed it from the fire, and touched it. Still hot, she realized as she retracted her hand, and waited before eating. She chewed thoughtfully, until she finished her food, and discarded the stick, before wiping her lips with the back of her hand and thinking that perhaps, she should put out the fire now that she was done. So, she went over to her bag, got her waterskin, and poured it on the fire.

The flame smoked and sputtered, spewing spoke as much as little crackling sparks that reminded her of a firefly's behind.

It did not go out, even as she upended the rest of her stores.

Now what? Tal wondered, as she looked onto the fire, and then thought, perhaps, given how weak it was now, she could simply blow it out with a little magical aid. So, she pictured the djed that lingered with the pit of her stomach, and pushed it out into the tips of her fingers. As she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, in through her nose and out through her mouth, she pushed the djed out through her fingers, so that it formed a clear gaseous substance above their points; res. Which, when she opened her eyes, seemed to reflect the sun's light that made its way down into the clearing, in a curious way she could not find a way to describe.

Tal allowed the res to trickle out of her fingers a few seconds, and form a relatively stable sphere above her left and right hand. She held them out before her, and smiled, her eyes glimmering, as she filled each with air, but let the outer shell remain simply res, as she felt it would allow the "orbs" to hold their shape better. With that done, she chucked each of the orbs at the fire, and found that it only fanned the flame. It did not go out, but instead grew, and began to crawl across the kindling toward its wooden encasement. At which point, the logs blackened and groaned, shifting as weight was added to their structure as the fire turned other portions to ash.

Tal stood transfixed a moment, simply watching as the fire spread over the logs, and the fire grew to be a few feet tall. Smoke billowing from its center and rising into the sky as flame licked angrily at the air.

Tal grabbed her waterskin and backed away.

"Petch," Tal whispered, as the flame flickered in the blackness of her eyes, their heavy expanse, "now what do I do? I've got no water..."

Didn't mean to burn the whole place down...

Flames, By Chance (Clyde)

Postby Clyde Sullins on May 30th, 2015, 9:49 pm

5 Spring 515

Clyde didn't wander about in the wilds often. Usually he stayed in Ravok proper when he was in town. But then half the time when he was here it was dead winter, and so not comfortable out in the wilds. It being only early spring, things had thawed out and warmed considerably from the dead of winter, but weren't nearly as hot as things got in summer.

However since he'd been bugged but a few days ago by someone coming to his house unannounced, he felt a need to be away from people in solitude.

The wilds were a simple enough place, and Clyde was safe enough even by himself, unlike the average person who'd be foolish to go out alone or without protection. They could be attacked, or robbed, or many other things. Clyde being a Stryfe and skilled as he was had little to worry about.

Anything deadly enough to cause him harm would likely not be possible to prepare for. And such things did not come up often.

And so he found himself out in the wilds on this day of spring, Cha in hand, his Stryfe robes with the common side showing about him, and his pack on his back with his various bits of camping gear stowed for if he stayed out for the night. A tent, a blanket, a bedroll, and other such pieces of gear. Even a dagger, though he rarely used it. Along with that he had a pair of light sledges, one tucked into his things, and a second one tucked into his belt.

For some odd reason, upon a whim, he'd also tucked a copy of his book into the pack. He doubted he'd use it, and having written it he knew its contents better than anyone, but it never hurt to be prepared. Being prepared likely had something to do with why he'd also stowed his basic glyphing gear, which amounted to a few pieces of parchment along with some ink and a quill.

Trailing just behind him was Rye, his guard dog and ever faithful pet. The dog seemed to have a serious demeanor, though this was likely simply an imagining of Clyde and not a truth. But Rye certainly didn't play about, didn't jump or wag his tail, instead steadily pacing and following about with Clyde, nor did he chase after the occasional squirrel that came within sight.

He'd been walking about as such for awhile, occasionally stomping the foot of Cha on the ground with a silent thud of wood on dirt or grass, when he felt a small tingle across his skin like a cool wind causing goosebumps. But not literally brushing over him, but over his outer essence and awareness.

Clyde paused when he felt the sensation which had been twinned with Cha, feeling the tingle go up his arm as it gave Cha "goosebumps" for a moment. Having a skin of wood made this even more clear it was not literal.

Clearly something was about, djed on the air, likely a casting of a sort. The particulars Clyde didn't know, but sensing vaguely of magic was something he'd been able to do for some time when it was about.

Clyde had yet to draw the line between the fact that he only seemed to sense weak magic about him, or at least magic weaker than his own skill in Auristics, but it was only a matter of time till he put things together. Of course with his own skill in Auristics chancing upon magic more skilled than his own skill in Auristics was becoming less and less likely, and so perhaps he wouldn't come to notice that fact.

Using his mundane eyes, he sensed something, smoke off to his front/right. Fire. Fire usually meant people. While it might be possible that the source of the magic was something other than a person related to that flame, or smoke, it didn't seem all to likely that there'd be more than one person that close nearby. More likely than not, logically speaking, the source of the flame was also the source of the magic. Or at least someone involved with the fire.

Heading in that direction, Clyde kept his eyes peeled, and Rye followed close behind, heading to investigate. It didn't take him long to find the person in question, or at least a person and the fire which had caused the flames amidst a clearing.

Having spent the time he had as a Reimancer with fire, creating flame, destroying and starving it, manipulating and coming to understand it, it didn't take his knowledgeable eyes to see the fire was getting out of control.

It was quickly burning through its fuel, the wood at its base, but it was starting to spread. The towering flames were being blown close to a tree, and if left alone it would likely catch aflame. And if one tree caught... Likely another would, and who knew how far the fire might spread. Fire was to be respected, it was alive and hungry. This fool though had played with it, and now was facing the consequences. It would serve her right to face the consequences of her own foolishness.

But then Clyde was a Stryfe, and it was his job to protect Ravok. And it the landscape around it was burnt to cinders, that would likely not be good for Ravok. He'd need to question the person who'd clearly started it, but first the flame needed to be dealt with, as it was even now licking across the side of a tree.

Walking forward towards the flame, Clyde slammed down Cha's base upon the dirt in a rhythm at the end of each line, and began to speak in a rhyme he made upon as he walked. As he did a coughing of mist spread outward from Cha, bright silvery gaseous res coming out in a small cloud. Within a chime the cloud had gotten about half the size of a person. But by then Clyde had already uttered several lines.

“Fire, you fool, is not to be played with. Its deadly and hungry, as much as the lowest of zith. You play and you stand doing nothing before me. A fool who trifles is what I do see. A flame is more than just a tool. To ignore or to act, which would be more cruel?”

As he finished speaking, Clyde paused his motion, beginning to make a mixing and churning motion with Cha. As he did the cloud of res began to spin and move, rotating about and above the flames, and through it. With an exertion of his will the res began to attract flame, and the fire began to bend like an image seen in water.

Within a few moments the attraction intensified, and the flame left its source and fuel, being tugged to the res, spun about and circling and isolated about the peripheries of the cloud of res. As the flames began to die down on the ground, it intensified about the res, flaring hotter and denser as more was sucked in, and as it spun about the tiny world-let with its own pull.

After a few chimes the flames would dim and eventually die out without any source of fuel, as Clyde fed it no djed to keep it alive. Done with his task after but a chime or two, Clyde broke his attention from the spinning flame, to finally look closer at the person in the clearing with him. He only then noticed that it was a female.

“Who are you to play with fire? Those who disrespect the flame shall soon draw my ire!”

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

Flames, By Chance (Clyde)

Postby Talya on June 6th, 2015, 4:13 pm

Talya watched in silence as a man materialized out of the trees, a man who to her, seemed a young boy. Tall and gangly, as though he were still growing, and had yet to fully mature into himself. A man with unruly hair lighter than her own, but still dark, and with eyes a vibrant blue. Strong; yet weak in that they betrayed so much more of his emotion than her own blackened ones ever could. A man with a dog lapping at his heels, chasing after him as opposed to his own tail. A man who fixed everything with his own magic, instead of spreading it as her own had done. To this, she said nothing as she studied him in silence, her eyes wandering over the delicacy of his features; the weakness she perceived, which had made him depend on magic in the first place. A magic, which, judging by his tone of voice, was something he had been infused with in a way. Although not quite. Something, she supposed, he used so frequently that sometimes he forgot where it ended, and he began. Something he used so often that he forgot what normalcy had felt like, what not using it and depending upon it felt like. And having forgotten what his homeostatic state was like, it didn't matter how much he overgave, or that he did if he so much as noticed; for he felt himself above all, king of his miserable little world.

"Fool, no," Talya said in a whisper, edged with a displeased hiss. "I know of the nature of fire," she continued, as she watched it slowly go out. "Of how it can serve if only you have the harness to control." She paused, as the sun's light reflected off the surface of her eyes, lending them an even colder, more distant edge. "But even with that harness in hand," she warned, "can the animal break, if only it has the will to do so."

A peculiar smile crossed the Ethaefal's lips as she studied the eyes of the human. A man, who she supposed young, inexperienced, and sheltered. Provincial in ways and in knowledge, as he had not the blessing of many live's knowledge and memories to serve him well within this one. Her eye's glimmered. "The water ran out, and air only fanned the flame, for it had not the strength to cease it," she paused, as she pulled the waterskin down from its resting place upon her shoulder. A place she had forgotten ever having put it, in the heat of the fire. The intensity of its now dying blaze. She drew the skin into her right hand, and held it out to the enraged human. "Would you mind?" she asked, "as I have said, it ran out."

The woman urged a smile onto her lips, convinced that her level tones would irk and unnerve, if not anger the stranger who stood before her with his dog. "Just as the fire would have run into the lake and sputtered against its moist lips," she paused, as her eyes sparkled again, "leaving the forest barren here for a time, perhaps, but the soil enriched, so it is said." She chuckled to herself, "and I do so enjoy the idea that we'd get to eat more. Don't you?" she asked, her tone edging on playful.

Flames, By Chance (Clyde)

Postby Clyde Sullins on June 7th, 2015, 3:22 am

As Clyde met the gaze of the woman, in her reply, he noted her eyes. Even from a bit aways he could see them, or the lack of them. Devoid of color, they were cleanly black, something he'd not seen before. For a moment he wondered if this was due to some kind of magic, but he was uncertain.

Done with his main focus, that of Reimancy, he was free to inspect the woman more closely. He of course did so in the way that came the most naturally to him, and was the least visibly obtrusive, Auristics.

Channeling his focus into his djed once more, Clyde spoke, funneling his rhyme through his intent as an incantation. As he did he willed his djed to rise and expand, to slither forth from Cha as a tentative limb reaching out to the female. Where other lesser skilled aurists were an untrained hand manhandling and gripping, Clyde's aura reading was a gentle breeze, brushing over and assessing without being noticed.

He smiled back at her, and her attempt at showing her displeasure, though found no need to look directly at her as he spoke and listened. He could feel his res in the background, slowing, coming to a halt, the fire within it dying and starving to nothing. Another chime, or two, and he'd be able to safely withdraw the excess djed that had been left unspent, and reabsorb it.

Besides, soon enough he could see her, her face, every twitch and motion, more clearly than if he'd been looking with his mundane eyes.

“A fool asked if he knows says he does. He speaks and affirms, his words but a buzz.”

“You say you know of fire, but do you truly? To say you do, you misinform me cruelly.”

“The control, the leash, a fool does not see its lie. But alas, what can I say, you say you know and so I sigh.”

Here Clyde did in fact pause and sigh, if a bit theatrically and overdone. But then, that was his purpose, an act, a showing, a play. Clyde seemed in a mood of sorts, an odd one, and rhyming just seemed... To fit.

“Those who think themselves in control often miss much right before them. They don't see the danger till their light starts to dim.”

As Clyde spoke his words further acted as his incantation, though her perhaps didn't fully need it. But it was better to be on the safe side, and he felt it kept him better focused on his work and on what he did. As the last of the flames died, Clyde made a small gesture with Cha, a pulling toward him gesture, linking it with his words, and began to call the res back to him. Over a period of another chime or two the res would return to Clyde, soaking back into his body and returning some of the djed, less what had been lost in the time the res had been out.

“The animal but plays, waiting, pretending it cannot break free. It waits for the holder to grow complacent, trusting, sure, till its moment it does see.”

By this point Clyde had well flowed his own aura sight over and onto the woman. He could see her, see her from every way, far more than mundane senses would allow inspection. If he wished he could have pressed within, seen within her, but instead for the moment he pressed outward, pressing a gentle breeze of his awareness at her outer bits, the extension of her aura and its peripheries.

Within her aura he could see a off white color, silvered but still white. She also had a scent, a texture of a... Beach? Not a beach... Sand... The feel of the grit of sand between ones toes, but dry. He couldn't quite figure that one out in his head, or tell for certain what he was seeing or sensing.

Her later statements, of water, confused him, causing him to meet her eyes for a moment again. Seeing the empty water skin, he had an inkling of what had happened. It was rather obvious with her waving said empty skin about.

If she'd thought him enraged, perhaps she had misread him before. Even when he'd been doing his magic, rage hadn't been an emotion he'd felt. Annoyance perhaps, along with a bit of disdain... But rage, no. That would imply a level of caring he did not feel for the female. But then, reading emotions was not the truest or easiest thing to do, certainly not with Clyde and the ways he was.

Clyde let a puzzled look cross his face, as she held out the waterskin to him.

He was honestly uncertain what she expected him to do with it, or how she expected him to fill it. Instead Clyde simply smiled back, and shrugged, not taking the proffered skin.

“It is empty as you said, that is true. But I am unsure what it is you think me to do.”

Her last statement, of burning away the vegetation, and of her matter of fact statement that it wouldn't have done any harm, at least not lasting, did not break his mirrored smile, though he did feel annoyance at the female once more.

“Are you a planter then, to know of such things? Do you toil and work in the earth, to nurture what it brings?”

“Assumptions are nice, but proof is much better. Otherwise such destruction might leave one a debtor.”

At his last line Clyde's smile broadened a bit, for his clever word play. He'd been struggling to find a rhyme that time, and was proud to have found just the right word for the situation. Often his poetry had a deeper meaning, and was quite literal. This was no less true in this case.

“Only a fool would act upon such an assumption. To do so requires stupidity, or perhaps just great gumption.”

“Perhaps it would grow back in time. But the trees, grown in years and years, their death would be a crime. And a crime, is still a crime, even if spoken of in a rhyme.”

Clyde did not believe her words on regrowth were anything more than explaining away her actions after the fact. He doubted she'd planned any of it out, let alone had a good reason for it.

“To destroy the crop today for a gain on the morrow? I think the hungry bellies would fill less with hope and more with sorrow.”

Flames, By Chance (Clyde)

Postby Talya on June 13th, 2015, 1:15 pm

She wasn't sure if she knew, if she simply, remembered. If the knowledge stemmed from a fragmented memory of one of her many past lives, which usually came to her in a dream as she slept. But all the same, the information seemed solid, and the words, spoken truth, so she stuck with them even as Clyde continued his irritating rhyming verse. Poorly composed, poorly done. Revealing each hole in his mind and his knowledge. But even so, Talya replied, "once," long before you were born. Long before your family was born. Long before this form came into existence. It was a gift, but whether or not he chose to accept as much was another story. For it didn't appear to the Ethaefal as though Clyde were the type to accept much of anything, and were simply the sort that wanted to pummel you over the head with both his presence and his stupidity.

In any case, Talya pulled her hand that had extended the waterskin back and returned it to her pack before looking back up at him. Thinking on how best to take her leave of the irritant. Her eyes losing their focus as her mind slipped into its brainstorm, until she entered a sort of trance-like state. Once in which auras were birthed, and yet she could not see that which surrounded Clyde. Instead, there seemed, if only she squinted, to be a sort of faint outline where the edges of the aura should have been. Meaning that the aura would have been clear, although this wasn't a possibility. Which left Talya only, to search for smells and senses that were not there, as the "aura," seemed only to magnify the space around it. But perhaps, this was simply her imagination, and not something she was picking up on- which was only, that Clyde was a master aurist, and blocking her view of him. There could be no other explanation, she felt, although she wasn't sure, and had heard only of this, but never seen it done.

So, knowing now that she would be unable to glean anything useful from him with the help of her magic, Talya allowed the aura to drop. As it did, her heart beat a little faster, and then gradually, began to return to a more natural state; that of equilibrium. She knew she had seen nothing; but still, she felt the mage was on some sort of power trip. High of magic, dangerous because of this, and unpredictable.

Tal had to leave, for her own good.

Talya found now, that without trying to concentrate on an aura that was simply not there, her mind was allowed to return to its previous state of trying to escape Clyde's company. It was then she remembered why he was here in the first place- the fire, the need for water. Which made her think that perhaps the water could be of use to her again, as he, not having supplied her, left the Ethaefal still wanting. So, she made to move away saying only that something suitable to drink needed to be found.

Another favor, Tal felt, he didn't deserve of her.

Tal found that she was able to turn unhindered, this came as a bit of a surprise, but she was pleased as she began to step away. Perhaps his eyes would follow her; perhaps she would be tracked by way of her aura. There was nothing she could do about that as she went on her quest for water, and hopefully, was never truly seen by the aurist again.

Flames, By Chance (Clyde)

Postby Clyde Sullins on June 27th, 2015, 1:17 am

As Clyde waited for the females response, he noted a tingle upon the air and his skin. A pressing, or a pressure, urging forth. At the same time he saw a swelling within the girl, within her aura, as an outpouring of sorts.

He'd practiced Auristics enough, and seen enough mages in action, to know what that meant. She was attempting to use magic on him, and if he wasn't mistaken the same one he was using on her.

This was more an assumption based upon the fact that the swelling of djed seemed to be sourced within her aura itself. That and the face the woman made, one he'd seen on other aurists and made quite a few times when he was learning.

Of course, reading an aura often had much to do with understanding oneself and the connections and assumptions one made.

Clyde however was in no mood to have his aura read by some stranger. Who did she think she was, to have permission?

More by instinct, and a good peppering of indignation, Clyde pulled upon his own aura, willing and desiring for her to be unable to read his aura.

Will and desire were often a twinned concept in personal magic, and Clyde's will was strong, as was his desire in that moment for his aura not to be read by the woman. It wasn't till his aura had shrunk and pulled in upon itself considerably that Clyde actually consciously realized what he'd done.

He'd wanted his aura to not be read by the girl, and so he'd pulled in his own aura, suppressing it, something he'd not known could be done, let alone that he could do it. He'd simply wanted it done. But then personal magic as a type of magic was a very instinctive thing, Clyde thought to himself, and often worked as such.

In hindsight, now that he'd done it and knew it could be done by the evidence before him, it made sense he'd discover it in such a way.

A small smile edged its way onto half of Clyde's mouth, as he felt the pressure dropping off, and returning to within the depth of the womans aura. Without anyone trying to read him, Clyde let off on the pressure, something he'd begun to do purposely once he'd noticed he was doing it. After a few moments his aura returned to its traditional state, though Clyde wondered if he'd kept focused at it if it would have stayed longer after before springing back.

It was soon after this that the woman began to attempt to leave. Leave without his leave, after having just nearly burnt down the woods.

Clyde coughed loudly, and took a few steps after the girl, before barking out new words, ones spoken without the joy or rhyme of before, and more of an official or demanding tone.

“Excuse me, did I say you could leave? You nearly burn down the woods before me, a member of the Ebonstryfe, forcing me to stop you from doing so, give no good explanation, and think you can leave without my permission?”

If nothing else, having lived in Ravok the name of the Ebonstryfe would be well known to her.

“First of all, manners, I'll have your name.”

“Then... I'll have a lock of your hair. For tab keeping. Then you may leave.”

“But be aware, next time I won't be so kind. If I find out you've been messing about with magic again, or cause damage to Ravok or its environs, I'll do more than demand a lock of hair.”

Clydes Stuff

Postby Talya on June 27th, 2015, 3:54 pm

Talya didn't stop walking, although her throat began to vibrate softly. She chuckled, the stirring of her chords undulating up the length of her neck, as the sound that finally escaped her lips filled the air with its soft melody. "What woman, needs to seek the permission of a man?" she asked, without turning to face him. Without stopping, without looking back. That was until he name dropped. Listed what he was a part of; what he was. Perhaps it was a bluff; the Ethaefal couldn't be certain, although, she didn't know why someone would be stupid enough to lie about something like that. For surely, Rhysol would punish those who slandered his name, and pretended to be something more, a part of him, an extension of his arm. So with a deep sigh, she tilted her head just enough where she could peer over her shoulder at the strange, wiry gentleman. Flash a sort of bemused, coy smile. Her eyes glimmering as she did so. She knew she shouldn't have, that Clyde didn't deserve any more of her attention, but something compelled her. Something about that name. "I don't remember you offering yours," she began. "Nor would I mark you for your expertise with manners, or conducting yourself wisely among other persons."

Talya paused. "Hypocrite," she hissed, as she danced another step away.

The Ethaefal thought she could hear him following her. How very annoying, but what was she to do as she could not control him? So, she simply sighed, as her fingers furled into her palm. And her knuckles clenched over and over. Her arms trembling slightly as the flesh around her hands whitened with her frustration. "It's Talya though," she offered, surprised she used her real one with a man such as him, although, it comforted her in knowing that he had no way of knowing she bore two faces- one during the light of day, and one during the darkness of the night. So if he ever saw her again, she may always offer up something else in her first name's place. "And why, hair?"

Maybe he's some sort of pervert, Tal thought with a sigh, as she ran her right hand through her long hair, pulling out a few strands. She flicked her finger over them, tossing them from her palm and into the air. A wind rose then, carrying them through it. She wanted him to catch them, but that would be mean and he was already angry and clearly unstable and crazy, so she decided not to try his temper any more than she had to. Sighing heavily, she reached for her dagger, unsheathed it, and cut the ends of some of her hair before holding her hand out for Clyde to retrieve them. "Take them," she said as she sheathed her blade, "until we meet again," she finished when he had taken the hair, leaving her to continue on her way.

Hopefully never, she thought to herself, as she disappeared into the line of trees.

Avatar CreditsMy lovely Avatar was drawn and created by the most awesome Nivel

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *
