Drunken Fortunes: A Job Thread

Moxie looked up at a red sign dangling with a white stallion on its surface, the Rearing Stallion. It was one of the few places she went to make a few Mizas telling people their fortunes. She entered the tavern and looked around, the sun was just starting to set and the place was fairly quiet, but was becoming a bit more rowdy now that workers and others started to pour in to relax after a hard day of work. The main room was quite open, with chairs and tables of wood placed in different places. Moxie sat at a table further away from the center, and slightly off to its self. Low lighting from the lanterns, made the atmosphere feel almost romantic, if it was not for the rowdy drunkards singing songs and joking with one another.

A simple looking barmaid came up and Moxie ordered a mug of Ale, as she peered around at the people before her. They all seemed to be in a rather jovial mood, mostly. There were a few with a few looser ladies gracing their laps, as they whispered in the men's ears, pointing outside to the dark alley. Moxie shook her head, she supposed everyone needed to make a living, she just didn't exactly see the reason for that to be a particular profession. The small Konti woman let out a sigh, as a regular to the tavern came up nodding his head.

“Your.. fortune sir?” Moxie asked in common tongue, a small smile gracing her lips. Presenting herself as warm and inviting to the man before her.

The man laughed, sloshing his ale in his Gallon on to her table, making Moxie lean back a bit, keeping her smile on her face although she did not particularly want to smell like Ale. “Sure, why not! The man exclaimed, laughing a hearty laugh and sitting at the table.

The barmaid brought the small Konti her ale, and she took a small sip of it from the mug. It was a bit strong, making her cough into her hand a bit, she told the barmaid thank you and turned her attention to the slightly drunk man before her.

“Moxie..you?” Moxie said, introducing herself by pointing at her chest as she said her name. She would of liked to introduced herself a bit more eloquently, but she struggled with common so she made the best sentence she could, although two words was not exactly a sentence.

“The name is Chuck, it is a mighty fine pleasure to meet you, Miss Moxie.” The man said, gently grasping her hand and making it shake. He set back and took a big gulp of his ale, “So tell me what my fate shall be? Will it be love, money, maybe adventure?” The man asked a bit excitedly, laughing at the end of it. He was obviously not concerned with what the fortune was, just having a good time.

Moxie smiled at the man, he was quite endearing, “Dons know.. let see?” Moxie grabbed his right hand and brought it closer to the dim light from the lantern, and traced the lines on his palm.

The dim light made it hard to really see, but she was feeling a bit foggy from the ale she was drinking on before, so maybe that was the problem as well. She squinted and laughed a little to herself, knowing that the riddles of the palm were still hard for her to decipher, but she would weave a story that was likely to happen to anyone. She observed his hand further though, to get an idea of what she would tell the man before her.

His life line was long, pretty straight with a slight curve Moxie observed. He has lived a long life it seems, full of laughter and happiness, although something else was lurking there that she could not quite put her finger on. It irritated her that she could not remember what the small like circle meant. She shook her head slightly, and went on to the heart line on his palm, tracing the little line, noticing how short it was. It seems there was a great heart ache and loneliness in his life, she was not sure if it was present or past, or maybe even a mixture of both. She let out a little sigh, tracing the head line, as it told her his story of troubles by the medium length of the line, but since it had little breaks in it, it seemed the man had conflicting personality traits. One minute he could be happy, the next not so much.

Moxie set back looking at the lines, then found the faint trace of the fate line that was near the life line, she could not make out what it meant, and knew she would have to weave a story to satisfy the man before her. The length of his fingers she noted was short and stubby, Moxie observed that the nails were short and in a round shape as well. This told Moxie that he was a hardworking man, making a honest living, that he was also a very loving man and it made Moxie blush a little at that. She stopped tracing the lines on his hand and examined the size of it, of course most hands were larger then hers, his was too. Though it was a bit tired looking, which Moxie took that as meaning that he himself was tired of his current lifestyle.

With all that information gathered from his palm, it was now time for Moxie to weave the story to the man, and give him his fortune, although it was riddle and vague to her, not only because of her just learning things, but also because of the ale muddling her mind. She leaned back giving the man a big smile, “It interesting...want know?” Moxie asked with a big grin, as the man's eyes lit up in curiosity.

“To have a beautiful woman such as you even talk to me is enough. Tell me my fortune hun! The man exclaimed excitedly, winking at her and making her feel a bit uncomfortable.

The Konti smiled deviously and nodded her head, taking his palm in her own, the ale making all her actions seem a bit more seductive then what she really meant for them to be, she cleared her throat, “I see..hardworking man..determined..kind.” Moxie said and hiccuped a little, blushing, and returning to softly trace the lines on his hand, “You..find happiness..soon. Also..warmth.” Moxie was finding it even harder to form words in common, as she took the mug and finished what was left of the ale in it, to rid herself of the hiccups. “Lucky..man..you find woman..tonight.” Moxie explained the best she could, pointing to the woman in the bar, particularly at the prostitutes. Moxie hiccuped again behind her hand and smiled apologetically blushing.

Chuck reached over grabbing her hand and smiled a bit deviously in her direction, stroking her palm with his thumb. “Are you sure I have not found a woman already?” He asked with an arch brow, the suggestion of what he said clear in his eyes.

Moxie could not suppress the laughter that bubbled up, the ale had made her manners some what disappear. Her laugh was like soft music, as it escaped her mouth, shaking her head, “You..kind..but no.” Moxie replied, slowly retrieving her hand from his grasp, smiling. “Better hurry...women...like not waiting.” Moxie replied giggling a bit, pointing to a scantly clad woman, who was rather beautiful. Chuck laughed and smiled, understanding he was being rejected. Leaving the table, the man turned back and winked at Moxie making her blush a deeper shade then what the ale was already doing, and went to the prostitute she pointed at. Moxie shook her head at the man's behavior, he was quite a character and rather funny. The barmaid returned and asked if she would like a refill, Moxie declined politely. She had enough of ale for one night, this was her first time drinking the devious liquid, it made her feel light and happy, less reserved. It some what scared her at how mellow she was becoming because of it, but she shook it off, leaning back in her chair and enjoying the carefree feeling it made her have.

Drunken Fortunes [Solo] Part Two

Postby Moxie on July 18th, 2015, 12:07 am

Moxie listened to the roars of laughter from men, the silently suppressed giggles of women, coming from all around her. She stayed leaned back with her eyes closed, the smell of sweat coming from bodies mixing with the food the cook was making, made her nose crinkle a bit. If it was not for the body odor, the scent of the food wafting in from the kitchen would smell divine, but the body odor made her a bit sick to her stomach, so the idea of eating instantly left her. Although, perhaps another mug of Ale was in order, it seemed to be making her mouth dry. She raised her small white hand in the air, waving the barmaid forth, and ordered another mug of ale.

She sighed and rolled up the sleeves of her tunic, exposing her scales. She did not care though, it was a part of who she was, and at the moment she did not think sitting there naked would really bother her either. “Maybe I should take me clothes off, it is so hot in here..” Moxie contemplated looking down at her clothes, then at the mug now sitting on her table. “No, perhaps that would not be the best of ideas considering this atmosphere.. Although... Moxie's thoughts trailed off as she saw someone familiar walk into the tavern. Her heart stopped for a minute as the handsome young man entered the tavern, and sat at a table. He was not very close, but still in her line of version. She remembered giving him a fortune back in Spring, Cecil. “I am not infatuated or anything.. He is just.. lovely to look at! Moxie reassured herself, forcing her eyes away from the good looking man and inspecting the mug of ale with more attention then it needed. Her mind betrayed her though, as it went back to the face of Cecil, and the bored expression that she found quite charming. He seemed so dangerous and strong, full of himself, and for what ever reason those traits attracted her to her surprise.

Moxie sighed and took a swig of the ale, before she could swallow the evil liquid down though she heard a rather husky and very male voice say, “Well, hello there.” Moxie looked up in the face of Cecil, her mouth full of ale, she spewed it out in a surprise gasp forgetting she had liquid in her mouth. It sprayed on his clothes and she looked up at the man in horror. “Great..I flirt like a professional!” Moxie thought to herself mortified at what she had just accomplished. The man brushed off his garments, and raised an eyebrow to her, that bored expression on his face. “I was expecting a hello back, not..a shower.”

Moxie's face turned a light pink, as she reached over brushing off his garments, apologizing repeatedly at her behavior. “Oh, sorry..sorry..oh so sorry!” She said as she continued to brush off his clothes. His hands came down and removed her hands from his clothes, “It's quite alright.” He replied sitting down at the table with her, making her eyes go wide with shock. “Fortune as an apology then?” He asked with a sly smile. “His face was born to smile..So much better then that bored look he always has.” Moxie thought to herself, and blushed as she realized she forgot to answer his question.

“My pleasure..” Moxie replied, taking his palm. ”Why is everything becoming so seductive?” She thought as her drunken mind tried to read the lines on his palm. It was becoming quite difficult as the lines began to blur more so then with Chuck's and becoming two instead of one. “Better do this slowly, that way when I weave my story of fortune, it won't be so false looking.” Moxie thought to herself as her delicate index finger, traced his Life line, she made her caress soft and slow on purpose, as she traced it not really noticing the length. She shook her head to focus, and observed that it was arched around his thumb, with breaks and small x's. The riddles of his palm still told her he was shallow, intelligent, and proving rumors wrong. Moxie frowned trying to find new information hidden there and also saw that, he had been hurt in life. She sighed, “Haven't we all..” She thought to herself, moving on to the heart line. She traced it slowly, observing the multiple creases, breaks, noting that he still had little interest in romance or love, and still told her of an emotional trauma. “Too bad he has no interest..” Moxie suddenly thought, but punished herself for thinking such things. She could find no new fortunes in that line, it was the same as before, she sighed and moved on to the head line between the index finger and his middle finger. The line still indicated his love for physical activity, adventure, and a high focus on goals. Though it also showed a bit of confusion at something, though she was not sure what exactly. Moxie sighed, her vision was rather bothersome, as the ale intake was starting to really affect her. She decided to stop trying to read the lines, and instead continued to trace them slowly, loving the way the rough texture felt against her soft and delicate skin. She cleared her throat after a few seconds though, becoming a bit flustered at herself, she was never a seductive type and it was quite out of character for her to be acting as such. She supposed though that ale made a lot of people act out of character.

Moxie reluctantly let go of Cecil's hand though, a little upset that she had to do so, he was just so tempting to her. She hiccuped behind her hand and drank the last of the Ale in her mug, regretting it afterward because it made her quite dizzy. She closed and opened her eyes a few times, looking at Cecil's bored expression turn to that of humor, as he watched her intently.

“Should I take what a drunken fortune teller has to say to heart, or should I just listen like a child to a story?” The handsome man asked her, and for what ever reason it made her laugh. She was not sure if it was meant as a joke or not, but it was still hilarious to her at the time. She shook her head, and gave him a smile, flashing her white teeth, and staring him in the eyes.

“The riddles..believe what want..listen or no..up to you.” Moxie stated, still holding his eye contact and leaning forward a bit flirtatiously, as she held his gaze, ”But..fortune is.. interesting.. wanna hear?” She asked on a whisper, her Konti accent becoming thicker, making her common sound soft and lyrical. Cecil said nothing, his expression still holding boredom as he nodded. The Konti woman leaned back, “Can..handle … it?” She asked, the words coming out suggestively, making Cecil's expression falter for a moment then returning to the same expression. She was not sure what the other expression was, but she rather enjoyed riling the man before her.

Cecil leaned forward this time, whispering. “I think I can handle far more then you think, dear.” The words although whispered came out more harsh then she thought they would, no matter though she still enjoyed playing with the man, and grinned deviously nodding.

She inhaled a deep breath, ready to weave her story of his fortune, hoping it would get some sort of reaction from him, “You..heartless. Though..soon..you will..be happy. Rumors still .. spoken. Love not likely... Romance..maybe.” As she said romance she leaned forward, watching his eyes get a bit bigger as she did so, loving the way she could change his expression. “Adventure..and a loss. Tonight.. lucky man..though.” Moxie said, grinning as he contemplated her words. She gestured to the prostitutes, repeating, “Lucky..man” winking at him. He looked over at the prostitutes a frown on his face, then he looked back at her with that same bored expression although something else was hidden in the depths, she was not sure what exactly it was. He nodded got up with out saying bye, and went over to a prostitute, and began chatting with her.

Moxie was a bit jealous, to say she wasn't would be a lie. She enjoyed his presence and company, even if he wanted to act bored and like a dangerous man. The prostitute giggled loudly as they passed her table, and the Konti woman felt a bit sad about that. Cecil left with the woman, with out even glancing at Moxie as he exited the establishment. “I don't blame him, I am nothing like those women. My flirting is rather horrible, they say hello, and I stutter and ask if they like bread. What the petch.. I give up.” Moxie said to herself, not sure why the feelings she was feelings was happening, but blaming that devious liquid they called Ale on it all. She stepped outside of her comfort zone tonight, and it only lead to a more dramatic life then she necessarily wanted. She paid for the two mugs of ale, and left the tavern, ignoring the sounds in the dark alley as she went home, stumbling a bit, and eventually getting assistance from a Knight.
