Blythe stayed awake for most of the night. Dozing off for only an hour, waking up instantly when she heard tiny footsteps. It was a feral cat chasing after a mouse. She didn't know who won.
When she checked, she noticed that the boy was still asleep. He seemed peaceful, had inched a bit closer to her, even leaned his head against her shoulder at one point. She found it cute, ran her fingers through his greasy hair for a bit before resting his head, hopefully comfortably, up against the wall again.
The boy awoke a few hours later when the sun peeked out of the clouds, and the rays hit him directly in the face. Blythe watched as his face scrunched. She thought he didn't want to be awake, and was fighting the need to open his eyes, or perhaps, even to cover them, with all of his might.
Eventually, he rubbed his eyes and looked all around him. He still seemed kind of stuck in the realm in-between sleep and wakefulness to Blythe. "Sleep ok?" she asked, as she fished a piece of bread out of her bag split it in two, offering half of it to the boy. The bread's crust was brown and crunchy, it crackled when she split it, and the inside was cold, white, yet fluffy. It smelled good.
