Located on the southern boarder of Mathew's Bay, The Empyreal Demesne is Kelskanisha "Kelski" K'etir's beginnings of what is planned to be an extensive estate intended to serve as the home base of a GGO. The land is bordered on the west by The Syval Ruins, and marked on the east by the extreme cliffs just south of Empyreal Beach, this demesne consists of multiple acres occupied by determined settlers willing to make a living in the Wilderness.

The Meraki Guild Manifesto

Organization Name: The Meraki

Type: Guild

Tier: T1

Description:

  • The Meraki is a guild of arcanists created by Kelski K'etir to provide a safe location for like minded mages to gather and survive without having to worry about prejudices and cultural or regional shortcomings such as famine, opposing values, and hostile environments.

Purpose:

  • The Meraki exist to rediscover, preserve, guard, and selectively spread the knowledge of obscure and lost magics.

Primary Location/Area of Influence:

  • The Empyreal Demesne - The Sylira Region around Zeltiva/Matthews Bay and Eastern Coast.

Membership Requirements:

  • Members must buy into the Guild with a non-refundable join up fee of 500 GM. This is a one time fee that will not be asked of the guild members again unless they leave the guild and attempt to re-join. If an applicant cannot afford the 500 GM membership fee, they can earn it over time and pay it in increments.

  • Guild members must have at least one magic to be part of the guild or be in the process of learning a singular magic to qualify their first season of being a guild member.

  • Members must complete two guild related threads that will advance the Tier status of the guild.

  • If employed through the guild, the guild member must complete two job threads through the guild to advance themselves.

  • Members must claim good living expenses due to the level of resources which will be available to the Guild Members once the guild is up and running. This includes a room/suite in The Empyreal Manor and Tower privileges according to guild rank.

Advancement/Promotion:

  • Rank in the The Meraki is exclusively determined by skill level. Each guild member must have at least one type of magic. The magic the guild member has should be somehow related to their guild employment. Ie... A guild might be a Hydromancer, but employed as the captain of the ship the guild owns which is based on that member's sailing and leadership. In addition, the guild member must have a secondary skill to support the guild - a weapon, investigation, research, etc. This secondary skill is up to the guild member and tailored to their character concept. Rank Titles are working titles and subject to change.

  • Meraki Postulant -
This is a person wishing to join The Meraki but has no suitable skills as of yet and perhaps has not earned the trust of the guild enough to be allowed to join. These members may be granted a small room in the Empyreal Manor and will be asked to do menial tasks such as assisting with the cooking, cleaning, and day to day operations of the manor until their studies allow them to properly join the Guild.

  • Copper Meraki-
This member is an initiate with a novice magic and a novice support skill level. These members are often referred to as apprentices. An apprentice enjoys a standard room in the Empyreal Manor, full guild member status, access to all the guild resources, and eligible for full employment by the guild in whatever capacity they are needed. At this very basic level, the only resource restricted to the member is the guild library's magical section and the guild tower's magical labs without supervision and full escort.

  • Bronze Meraki-
This member has surpassed their apprenticeship and has become competent in one magic and one support skill. They are considered a full member at this level. A full member enjoys a suite of rooms in the Empyreal Manor, full guild member status, access to all the guild resources and eligible for full employment by the guild in whatever capacity they are needed are granted to Full Members.. In addition, the Full Members may start a cohort and start training in leadership. At this level, the member has full access to the guild's magical library and acquires the use of tower practice labs.

  • Silver Meraki -
The silver Meraki has earned an expert level in at least one magic and one support skill. They are considered advanced members and have privileges accordingly. An Advanced member enjoys suite of rooms in the Empyreal Manor, full guild member status, access to all the guild resources and eligible for full employment by the guild in whatever capacity they are needed are granted to Advanced Members. In addition, the Advanced Member may start a cohort and start training in leadership. At this level, the member has full access to the guild's magical library and acquires the use of tower practice labs. In addition, the member is assigned an entire floor of the tower of which the guild will furnish at the member's request up to a budget of 1,000 GM as funds provide. This tower floor is to be used however the member wishes. In addition, this level allows for the member to take apprentices to mentor. It is expected at this level that in addition to leading ones own cohort, this member will become a member of a master's cohort.

  • Gold Meraki -
This member has a Mastery in at least one magic and one support skill. Then they are eligible for a suite of rooms in the Empyreal Manor, full guild member status, access to all the guild resources and eligible for full employment by the guild in whatever capacity they are needed grated to Top Tier Members. In addition, Top Tier Members may start a cohort and start training in leadership. At this level, the member has full access to the guild's magical library and acquires the use of tower practice labs. In addition, the member is assigned an entire floor of the tower of which the guild will furnish at the member's request up to a budget of 2,000 GM. This tower floor is to be used however the member wishes. At this point, a member might opt to build their own residence on the Empyreal Demesne in a location of their choice. In addition, this level allows for the member to take apprentices. It is expected at this level that in addition to leading ones own cohort, this member will become a member of the leader's cohort.

  • Platinum Meraki -
The Leader of The Meraki receives all the benefits of the Gold Members. However, in addition they are granted the top tower suite. They are in charge of the cohort consisting of the Gold Members. The leader holds a seasonal meeting of all members in which the group as a whole determines allocation of funds, guild purchases, guild advancements, and any profit sharing that might occur.

Benefits:

  • Members enjoy a permanent residence at The Empyreal Demesne, accesses to its food, weapons, research, defense, and travel resources. Travel expenses paid by the guild when members are traveling on guild business. A basic residence includes a room, though as guild members advance, they can opt into a suite or even build their own type of home on the Empyreal Demesne in a location of their choice.

  • The guild gets a 10% discount on skill-based items/structures/services based on the type of guild when purchasing such things for the improvement of the guild itself.

  • The guild gets a 25% discount on items purchased for the outfitting of guild members (for the sake of customizing items for guild members; custom uniforms, weapons, armor, etc.).

  • Members can enjoy employment through the guild if their employment is in line with the guild needs based on the price list wage listings. If enough of a certain type of employment occurs (ie.. world mage) the guild may opt to buy down the specific job to benefit all its members.

  • Guild Member can enjoy a generic occupation (8 gm/day modified by Magic Skill) before they specialize in a guild interest. This was bought up by the guild profit decrease of -2 gm a day.

  • Members enjoy a Good Living Expense at 300 gm / season (2gm/day buy down - savings of 150 gm per season for each member.) This lifestyle is one envied by many. Those of some wealth enjoy this way of life; well-to-do merchants, successful adventurers, treasure-hunters or anyone else possessing higher than average income. One almost always owns their own home or spends a lot of time in good quality inns. Food and drink are of high quality, clean with a varied diet and are either purchased, grown, or otherwise acquired from good quality venders. Clothing is usually silk, velvet or fine linens and may include rare and exotic furs and hides. Health is very good and includes access and use of healers and medicines. Bathing takes place in one's own home or in some of the finer bathhouses.

  • Guild members get storylines related to the guild and can add to the storylines of the guild by crafting or integrating their own issues into the guild issues.

  • Guild members get to share the knowledge other guild members have, including the library the guild has. There are a multitude of magics available to be learned - one teacher has a mastery so any teaching they do earns the student 6 XP per thread.

  • At the conclusion of each season, a meeting will be held by the membership as a whole (either IC or ooc) and the guild earnings for the season will be allocated as savings, for purchases the guild needs, member payouts for furnishings, and then it will be decided if the income will be shared among members as decided by the members. This opens up the membership to a vote of profit sharing if funds would like to be dispersed among members. The Leader/Creator does not have to put in 500 gm to join the guild.

Leaving/Exiting:

  • The whole point of a guild is interacting and staying at a reasonable activity level. By the rules of the GGO system itself, two tier threads per member must be done per season. Two job threads (if employed by the guild) must also be carried out. This is the only qualification for membership. If these threads are not done, members will be asked to find an IC reason for leaving the guild. Placeholders are acceptable if members have a good OOC reason for not being able to post.

If there is conflict either IC or OOC, members will be allowed to leave permanently. However, they may not be allowed to rejoin if conflict resolves. It will be up to a vote of the guild as a whole.

Members who disappear from the site will be resigned from the guild. If they return, their reasons for leaving must be of an IC nature that does not allow for the guild to look bad (aka kidnapping, memory loss, etc) because if the guild looses one of its own, it will do all it can to get them back. If the Ic reason is suitable, they may be allowed back into the guild as per the leadership's determination.
