For those that were hunters, survivors, and men of the natural wilderness would find that the night existed as peacefully as any night in the wilds could be. For those that were soft, more adapted to the comforts of silent knights within stone walls and protected by scores of armed soldiers, such a lonely feeling and the paranoia of every chirp and hum would make the night not pass swiftly nor peacefully, yet in fragments. Periods of slumber and periods of worried fretting would be what existed in their minds until the much awaited shimmer of sunlight shone across the sky's border. Regardless of what they ate and how they slept, Klyphaestus and Jonathon would find themselves aroused early in the morning. The sunlight from Syna's radiance was faint, but already allowed for significant exposure in the lightly wooded region of the Wildlands. Jonathon and Klyphaestus were no longer disarmed of their eyesight, and though their companion, Hrafn, had left with without so much as an explanation of his intended destination, there was no sign of trouble or struggle to lead anyone into believing he met his demise. However, the two young men were still aroused by a noise that wasn't particularly familiar, yet Jonathon might recall such a sound when he saw in the distance who was the villain producing such awful frightening noise. A monstrous Boar had stumbled in the area. The snorting as the massive pig, which was much larger than any standard boar should have been. The tusks on the creature weren't particularly enormous, and it was visible from their distance that the right tusk was broken, cutting off a few inches in its length. Those tusks though were still in proportion with the Boar's massive size, which meant it was large and could easily spill a Human's (or Inarta's) guts with a single stroke. Even somebody with no experience in hunting could figure that such a prize as this, a lone wild boar (which was a typical choice for the males), would be worth a fine piece of gold Miza. The same people would also be able to accurately assume that to take down such a beast would take enormous effort, and an even larger number of arrows. This was the sort of thing groups of hunters prayed to Caiyha to find, yet it was also one that claimed the lives of many who weren't prepared. Jonathon and Klyphaestus had an advantage or two though, as well as several disadvantages. First, and most important, the hunters had the element of surprise. They were both aware of the boar where as the beast itself seemed genuinely unaware of his surroundings, or at least that he was being watched that early in the morning. Second, they were two men, where the boar was only one beast of lesser intellect. They had bows, arrows, and a number advantage, not a huge one, but one none-the-less. But the Boar had his own advantages, should he need them. He was a small powerhouse, and being massive in comparison to the average boar (which was already damn scary and formidable), made him a walking Man-Killer. He was thick with fur, fat, and muscle, and appeared to have no notable injuries to slow him down or deter him from fighting for his life. Let's not forget he could run quicker than humanoids as well. Jonathon and Klyphaestus had a very serious choice to make. To attack, and make a mistake doing so, would be death, but to leave before they were noticed, they could certainly live to hunt something smaller, easier, and less of a threat, but their prize would not be so large as this. Boar600-ish Pounds A little less than three meters long Tusks are roughly 4 inches (partially broken), and 6 inches Solid Brown Color Obviously Male, Mature, and Healthy NoteThis is your first real chance to hunt something, and it's big. I want to restate that by accepting to hunt the boar, your PC's lives are at stake. A foolish, illogical, or generally ridiculous action may decide the very fate of Jonathon and Klyphaestus, yet tactical, skilled, and logical actions (while being reasonable) could earn you some hefty rewards. I suggest you make your choices wisely. |
