[Wind Reach OOC] Touching The Sky

I'm getting ready to grade the winter festival glass thread and social thread. Awards will be dispensed based on where everyone left off. Participants, if there is anything you want added in, do so now.

Alright Gingies.

I've been delaying posting the Market Day thread in hopes that some of you would come forward with some ideas for shops you would either like to see (that your PC needs) or that your PC would like to run.

There are just a few requirements:

Your PC has to be skilled in whatever wares their shop is to sell. IE, Joe Blow can't sell Finely crafted leather shoes if he's never even touched a leather tooler before.
Wind Reach doesn't have access to all the supplies in the world. Think about the city, what it has and what your PC can get his/her hands on. IE There isn't going to be a shop every Market Day that sells fresh strawberries. Maybe every once and a while, but not always.
As I have already written up a few, if you want your PC to have a stall similar or exactly like what I have written, just let me know. We can work something out. Don't think that because I put it there, you can't have it.

Alright! GET GOING!!!

Alright, all you silent people out there. The Market thread is up, and looking for more stalls still. Don't be shy, step it up.

Also in one of her threads, Vala brought up the subject of extensiveness of Wind Reach's Library. Jen is really the one to be answering this, but I'm going to take a stab at it.

Books are rare. The market thread has a stall that sells books, but these are of the highest priced items in the market. Wind Reach runs on efficiency and frowns upon waste that could have been used for something else, or avoided and therefore saved time and material. I want to say that the Inartans' aren't really all that concerned with the history of Riverfall or why the sky is blue and not puce. Most don't have the time to read, while others are gleefully ignorant.

Now, this doesn't include everybody and a lot of the cities inhabitants do learn their trades from reading, or like to keep journals, or read for pleasure. But I think what I'm trying to say is that their library wouldn't be overwhelmingly large. And I think the organization would be more conservative (for the lack of the actual word I'm looking for) like they are, and be sorted by subject and date, and be recorded in a logbook rather than some complex filing system.

But, that could all be wrong.

You guys should really take this opportunity to be business owners if you've ever even remotely considered it. Not only would a market stall generate income, but it will generate roleplay for you both in creating and selling your wares. It's also a good way to change castes or broaden your skillset as a pec.

Shop Title: Can’t Fly? I’ll Get You High
Shop Description: A simple booth that consists of a piece of paper, a quill, an ink bottle (all “borrowed” from that guy selling literary supplies in the next stall over), and a fine piece of Endal flesh named Sairque. Don’t get too excited, she isn’t going to be taking you up for joy rides on her Eagle, Catabasis. She’s going to be signing you up for multi-day climbing excursions. The rare kind, the kind on walls and faces and cracks that only Endal have been to because they’re so far away. And with a safety net. Plummeting to the earth? Hello Catabasis!
NPC/PC Description: Sairque won't shank you unless you deserve it, and she'll even do her best to keep you alive on the trip out.

And Vala, I don't see why there's anything wrong with you coming up with a system to organize the books. I think it's completely plausible that the one in place is archaic.

Shop Title: Avant-Card

Shop Description: An off shoot of The Written Word with a focus on fancy cards. Birthday Cards, Wedding Cards, Congratulations Cards, even the oh so subtle I-Passive-Aggressively-Hate-You Cards (Vala has a knack for those.)

On the stall counter lies an open portfolio full of premade card examples in almost every imaginable calligraphic font, with cards loaded with gushing and sentimental cra- wishes. Beside the portfolio lies a stack of stationary that patrons can choose from. There are no extra types in the 'back room', what you see is what you get, so stop asking. There are also several ink vials with colors that range from traditional black, sapphire blue, Inarta Red, Royal Purple, Earth Brown, and if it's been a good many days there might even be a small stock of polished silver or burnished gold colored ink (for a little more coin that is).

While there are pre-mades for the busy Endal and Avora, those with a little time and composing skill can write their own messages, which Vala can pretty up with flourishes and such. All commissions are welcome. Everyone in a while eager lovers will come to Avant-Card to commission a special poem written out to be hung on a wall like a painting - Vala is not just limited to cards. She also does the occasional copying job for anyone who has the coin.

When not making or selling cards Vala is usually helping Warden with his commissions… or is it the other way around?

PC Description: Vala is sweet and nice and helpful and all sorts of bubbly - to your face. Though she doesn't realize it she has a tendency to drop the price for people whose facial structure she likes, is nice to her, or whose vibe she just happens to like. Sometimes, if she has the supplies she makes cards for free.

Both Sairque's and Vala's Stalls have been approved and added to the list.

For NPC run stalls, feel free to self-mod them. But I will be watching closely to make sure that no one goes overboard.

For the PC run stalls, you'll have to make a thread with those PC's to buy their wares. Unless given specific permission from the PC, you cannot mod these stalls yourself.
