The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Rivaal continued his reimancy fueled run for as long as he felt was safe, and then slowly dissipated the energy as he slowed down. For the excited Arev though, he paced himself, and then worked back to a full sprint.

They were only half way through the route he had started to work out, and he dodged a stray passerby. After screwing up his step though, he started to trip, but catching the fence of someone's home, he managed to balance himself and stop. At that point, he realized that he'd used a more energy than he'd expected. He wasn't that far above a beginner with flux magic, and so he paused to rest and let Arev catch up.

Arev bounced up, apparently not even winded. When she saw he'd stopped, she caught up quickly and then leaped up around him, running in a circle and bouncing on her paws. Her tail was still going a hundred miles a minute. Once she realized he was tired, though, she sat down and looked up at him with content golden eyes.

Rivaal laughed and sat on the ground. He reached up and scratched Arev's ear. "I used too much magic there."

After a couple of minutes he stood up and smirked. "Well, it's about the same distance either way. Let's just turn around and head back. It'll get you more familiar with the route anyway."

Arev scratched behind her ear with a hind paw and then jumped up, following at his heels. She was ever alert for anyone who might try to hurt her master--she knew cities could be full of crime, particularly when compared to the woods. Then again, you hardly ever saw another person for weeks on end in the wilds.

She rubbed her nose against his hand for good measure, very happy with this new arrangement.

Rivaal lead the way back. There was no trouble. On the way back, they actually passed a patrolling Shinya. The authority was palpable as they got closer to them, lifting once they were past. The Shinya gave Arev more looks than Rivaal, who gave a friendly smile. People were considered more suspicious during the day after all.

Back at the building, Rivaal opened the door to the room and let Arev in first. "Why don't you get dressed and human? I can't have conversation with a wolf, can I? At least not an overly productive one. I'll wait out here until you're done."

Arev vanished into the room. It took her a remarkably short time to come back clothed, almost as if she had plenty of practice. For her part, the Kelvic looked amazingly more healthy and energetic than she had the other day. There was a spring in her step, a smile on her face, and a healthy flush in her cheeks. Being bonded did a lot for them.

"A conversation about what?" Arev said, sitting down and listening attentively. She somehow gave the air of pricked ears even without the ability to do that.

Rivaal paused. He hadn't thought that far ahead. "Um... Anything. What do you want to talk about?" He gave a nervous laugh as he started fishing through the cabinets for food. "I figure we haven't really gotten to know each other."

He fished out a few eggs, a couple of pans, strips or pork, and some cheese. He figured he could make a decent breakfast for the two of them, though nothing fancy.

Arev's noise twitched and she made a small growling noise. "Bacon?" she said hopefully, eyes following his every movement. She shook her head a little, snapping out of it with difficulty. "There's not much more to me than what you see. I've been on my own a long time now, almost a year. My father died and so I went off on my way. I assume you came to this city for the magic stuff, right?"

Rivaal shook his head. "I could probably find a teacher further south. I actually came here because it just felt like the right place to go. I figure every part of this place has a story, and stories are always fun. Maybe I can learn some good ones. I like being around people, but I guess it's different than in the north. Around here, everyone's a stranger rather than a friend." He cracked the eggs into the first pan and - using an odd skill from his traveling days - he managed to get the pan to rest nicely over the hearth. He threw the bacon into the other pan and let everything cook.

While things started to sizzle and smells of a warm meal flooded the room, Rivaal had gone back to the cabinets and was throwing some bread onto a couple of plates, and putting cheese on them., and he grabbed water for the both of them.

When the eggs had fried, he used a knife and placed half on a slice of bread on each plate. The bacon came next, and he placed it to the side on one plate for Arev (not knowing how she wanted to eat it), but he compiled all of his food into a sandwich for himself. "Breakfast?"

Arev grinned widely, then wolfed it down. She definitely seemed to like meat, and the less cooked, the better. But she ate everything down to the last crumb and seemed to enjoy it greatly. "You're a good cook," she said, sniffing the plate before licking up a tiny piece of bacon. "Why do you burn all the flavor off, though? Is that a Vantha thing?"
