Thump

Thump

Thump

Irriaris heart started to pound inside her chest as the pain fluxed inside her skull mixing and melding with the pain in her limbs. Each step became harder and harder as if she was weighed down by unseen weights as she traveled slowly inside the Ziths den.

Her arms that held her bow shook as she turned the first hallway in search of the Zith that she saw just a bit ago. However inside the din laid no signs of life. No signs of slaves or even signs of other zith for that matter. No air brushed along her bare skin from the depths of the warm cave.

However as she turned along the tunnel, that led further downwards, another Zith stood at last in front of her. From the sheer height alone told a male as the wings were warped around as they kept their back towards Irriari however as Irriari crept ever closer the figure turned at last towards her. Yet what greeted her was not a male zith face but of a Zith skull. The skin was melted along the face, the eyes gone from the sockets and the teeth and tongue were gone just leaving a blood filled hole. The wings were gone and the chest of the figure was nothing but a oozing mold almost. The limbs had no skin either but was just made out of nothing but tiny spiders yet before Irriari moved the figure just exploded in a green hazy mist.

It was then that around her that the cave came alive. Her ears picking up the sounds of children playing, mothers singing lullabies, men fighting, the sounds of screaming and the smell of burning bodies all came to her at once warping around her like a winter snow attacking her senses.

The once bare cave walls were all of a sudden blood soaked walls. Her feet sunk inside the warm bloody floor once the walls were of the same type of blood. As she sunk deeper and deeper inside the floor all around her the walls begun to form tiny eyes blinking and watching her as the sounds kept getting louder and louder around her.

Down the tunnel would be the main center chamber if the den was anything like an normal Zith den. She could still make it towards it or turn around and flee to the exit or even do nothing of the sorts. The sounds just kept getting louder as the eyes around her kept blinking faster and faster watching her.

New toys (Irriari)

Postby Irriari on May 14th, 2011, 4:24 am

As Irriari walked down the colony tunnel, she felt at home again. The damp earthern walls were so different from Sahova, so like the ones she had grown up with in the Sea of Grass that it was hard not to rush headlong into the den. But this was not her den. So she remained as calm as she could under the circumstances. She would make it out of here alive, no matter what. This vile haze induced poison would not best her, and when she was away from here, all of Sahova would fall.

At long last she finally saw a fellow Zith. She opened her mouth to voice a greeting again but stopped short. Something did not feel right about the cavern, and as she edged closer in the darkness she understood why. A skull of a Zith greeted her on long dead shoulders. It's face was a mess of blood, holes and gore. Irriari nearly cried for the Zith-thing, for it had no wings and she knew, if it had ever been a Zith, suicide would have been preferable to being wingless. It was a route that some had taken, especially if their wings had been cut off or maimed.

Suddenly the thing exploded into the green mist Irrari had come to fear and hate. She held her breath for as long as she could, but after a half chime she could hold it no longer. She gasped and her lungs filled with the thick poisonous smog.

Irriari coughed and hacked and as she did the cave exploded with sound. The din became louder and sounds of battle and signing, the smell of death and decay were enough to nearly sink her to her knees until she felt the ground beneath her. The packed earth of the den was now a slimy mess and the noises intensified. Irriari wanted to cover her ears but training dictated that she hold onto her bow. She was clutching the wood so tightly that she was afraid it would splinter.

Irriari moved forward, slowly at first and then she ran. She had to escape the noises, the smells, the haze, the chaos. It felt like Rhysol himself had created this room. Irriari screamed as she burst into the main chamber and drew the arrow tight against her bow string.

New toys (Irriari)

As Irriari ran into the main chamber the world around her flashed a bright light. As the light faded she found herself surround by bodies laying along the ground. The cave was back to normal type cave with no blood or sounds around her.

However just bodies laid upon the ground with no marks along them or signs of any type of struggle. The faces she would know for she would know all of them for they were all the people she once knew in her life before she left her colony. All laying on the ground dead.

The pain in her body gone. Her head clearer and her veins no longer burned after the flash of life. Even the copper taste that once filled her mouth was gone as if it never occurred. In fact her body felt prefect in every way as if she woke from a restful night of sleeping.

The cave around her however had no tunnels leading in or out or even the tunnel she just used was now just a rough stone wall. She was trapped inside the center part of the cave system filled with friends and family of past.

No sounds were around her. The only scents she would find would be of zith nature however even with no sources of light the cave still was lit somehow as if the light came from everywhere and yet no where at the same time. However the bodies would show no shadows and even her own body would not hold a shadow inside where was.

New toys (Irriari)

Postby Irriari on May 14th, 2011, 5:12 am

As Irrari ran into the chamber another bright flash filled her line of sight and left her temporarily blinded. She swore loudly and looked around the chamber for something, anything to shoot. She was tempted to loose her arrow at the first thing that moved, but nothing moved, and all was quiet. Waves of pain no longer echoed through her body like air circulating through her lungs fortunately.

And then she saw them. And she keened. Bodies of her family, her mother, father, slaves and the Elders. She screamed until her voice was little more than a croak and then Irriari clawed at her chest until strips of skin came away. The crimson red poured from her chest onto the dirt and she cried as she saw the first drops of blood hit her mothers corpse. It was too much. The pain, the chaos, the noise, the light. It was too much. This couldn't be real. Shouldn't be real. What had she done to deserve this isolation, alone with her agony?

Irriari slowly picked herself up off the floor and stared at her chest. Maybe it would heal. Maybe not. The rest of the pain was gone, but her heart was dead. The Sahovians could rip out her wings and it would hurt less than this.

Irriari grabbed the closest corpse and began dragging it to the side of the chamber. It was on of the Elders- Ravage. She carefully closed his wings and laid his arms at his side. If she could not give the dead a proper burial, the least she could do was honor them.

New toys (Irriari)

The world around Irriari at last melted away like a stone being thrown into a pond. Darkness overcame all her senses. No more sounds. No more smells. No anything outside of her body that played along her senses and mind.

The world came back to her at first in the way of sounds. The same sounds over and over and that was a quill along paper writing. Endless writing sounds touching along her ears with muttering about something in what sounded like another language that she just could not work out other then harsh sounds. If she did open her eyes she would find herself in what looked like an small room.

She would be laying on a hard rough cot. Her wings folded around her yet her weapons and items no where in sight. The “box on wheels” stood by the door as an older man wearing a robe was in a chair just writing watching her.

The mans skin was a pale white, black hair with dark eyes and his lips were a darker blue. The robes covered most of his body but his bony white hands that just kept writing as his eyes kept watching Irriiari without even blinking once.

“Note ZUF0212 no clear signs of test results. PDG may remove the soul soon and the body will be used for Nuit research.” The old man said in common for once as he kept writing. “ZUF0212 may have suffered a break and untimely death due to the poisons used on her in test room 3C-2. Zith may not be able to withstand the poisons however more data is needed before results are understood. Test stands as a failure as of now.”

New toys (Irriari)

Postby Irriari on May 14th, 2011, 6:57 am

When Irrari awoke, she was fully alert within seconds, but kept her eyes closed as training dictated. 'Assess the situation, then react. Violence is always preferable.' The Elders voices echoed through her head, and she calmed her nerves and breathing. Around her, she heard the scratching of a quill and the slow methodical voice of a man as he spoke what he wrote.

“suffered a break and untimely death due to the poisons used on her in test room 3C-2. Zith may not be able to withstand the poisons however more data is needed before results are understood. Test stands as a failure as of now.”

Irriari listened to the words carefully. Zith? Poison? Failure? They must be talking about her. Had she failed some sort of test? It didn't matter. The rage and pain of the last bells all came flooding back to her. Her own voice echoed in her ears with the sounds of battles and the incessant blinking of eyeballs in her head. Enough. Irriari refused to relive the pain. She had sworn that Sahova would burn and fall, that the petching bastards would pay. It was time to exact the price in blood. They had not only shamed her, but the honor of the Elders and all of her colony to play out this cruel game. Did they take her a puppet? She had come to them, seeking knowledge, had been willing to pay any coin, and they had mocked her and toyed with her. Irriari listened for a second longer and tried to localize the exact placement of the mans voice.

Irriari smiled, for the briefest second and snapped her eyes open. She willed energy and the strength she had to flood her body as she lept up towards the voice. And now, she saw him. The fool. She would rip out every bone, starting at his toes and ending with his ribs. She would string them up in the colony flay off every inch of skin with naught but an rusty nail file. The dark haired monstrosity in front of her would rot. She was close to him now, close enough to rip his heart out with one hand. She wanted to ask him questions and know what he had done and why, but if Sahova had taught her anything so far it was that hesitation could get her killed- or worse.

She smiled at him, harshly, and hoped that he saw the pain he had inflicted, reflected in her eyes.
