A spot of blood on the desert, the dark keerdash trees leave in late spring with crimson foliage. Their ruddy shade is an occasional resting place for the Tatsuwaat tribe of Chaktawe.

      Season of the Spring, Day 20, 509 AV


      She returned Melanie's smile with her own, more cautious one. The youngest stumbled from their hideaway, mumbling a dreary Good morning before skirting away behind a tree.

      "We just have to be careful of banks," she said. The sand was smooth, barely a wrinkle. She breathed the warm air in with gusto; the heat made her blood flow, and it was a delicious feeling. The Hands gathered their belongings and set off, eyes wide for treasures and scorpions. They dunes became larger and more steep as they walked, and one caused Reshimi to halt. She stared at the mound with a look of incredulity; how in all of Mizahar had such a thing formed?

      "Around or over?"

"Around. My calves are starting to kill me from the incline." Melanie squinted as she looked towards the sky, her hand barely making enough shade.

"There's not going to be anything worth our time at the top of a dune anyways."
