But I just work here (Zarek & Revy)

Postby Zarek on September 9th, 2011, 7:59 am

Zarek’s grin weakened after Bob tapped his Cain against the floor. He was not looking to fight the girl. But the sensation and excitement he felt after staring into her expression was almost over-whelming. Not over-whelming with fear, but with lust and desire for the adrenalin rush that he knew he would get from fighting her. But he knew why he was here, and Bob was right. While he was not planning to stay in Sunberth for much longer, he also did not have any desire to make too many more enemies. After all, people here held grudges like an old divorced couple.

Zarek’s knuckles flinched as the excitement rushed back up into his chest once more after Revy had barked at Bob. Not because of her loud voice, no in this short while Zarek was already used to her yelling at everything. The sudden flare of excitement was caused by the instinct to try and strike or at least attempt to disarm her while her attention was set on Bob. But again, he was not here for a fight, even though this girl made it very difficult to resist the idea.

Just moments after he suppressed the desire to strike, her stare locked right back onto Zarek. Shyke… the word was all that went through his mind as his heart sank slightly. She catch the hostility? He continued to think as he looked back into the furious glare of Revy. Her expression was still cold, but her eyes burned bright with anger and hostility of her own. You know…Next time I meet you, you’re going to end up with your guts removed, mark. My. Words.” she continued to say to Zarek, her expression as cold as ice but her eyes as hot as fire. He could not help but smile once more by these words. As he bowed his head slightly towards her. I look forward to the day, I look forward to the day…

After Revy had finally sheathed her weapon, Zarek brought both of his hands back down to his sides and turned towards Bob. It was amusing to watch all the different facial expressions go across his face, as he switched from concerned, to relief, to a tense look once more. After a split second, his expression had changed once more to a more lax and natural one, as he addressed both Zarek and Revy. “So you want a dog as happy as you…” he said to Zarek , then switching his look towards Revy. He continued to speak… "And you want a braver horse? Though I think that the problem lies with the owner that the horse is so faint hearted more than the horse itself." Zarek was a drawn aback by these words. Or at least to hear it from Bob’s mouth. He does not know the man well, but he did not think of him to be the type to poke fun at an already irritated tiger.

Without waiting for a response, he had quickly turned around and started to make his way to the desk that was in the room. As he made a hastened stroll to the desk, he looked around his surroundings as if looking for someone or something. Bob then began to start rummaging through the desk, as if looking for something, Zarek could not help but laugh a little in his head as he observed his facial expressions again. I swear, this guy is to entertaining to watch sometimes…I wonder what he’s doing anyway…? Bob continued to rummage through the contests of the counter and drawers, until finally he had stopped. His face had then turned to a relief expression, then to a small grin.

After finding what it appeared to be what it was he was looking for, he looked back up towards Zarek and Revy and smiled at the two. Well then, shall we go see the animals? I don’t mind telling you what I know about them, but you’d have to talk to Mr. Killroy about buying later. He said as he eyed the two of them from behind the desk. I see, and when will Mr. Killroy be back? As much as I’m… with a quick glance towards Revy, then back to Bob, Zarek continued to speak. …Enjoying my time, I do have other plans for the day and night and would like to get this on the move.

But I just work here (Zarek & Revy)

Postby Revy Hiroe on September 9th, 2011, 2:17 pm

The mercenary blinked with her eyes once. Did she hear that well? Did that runt of a man just call her faint hearted? She slowly walked over to the counter, her eyes shooting fire. That guy had crossed the line. It's one thing to be weak, but another to insult her like that. Her right hand lay softly on her longsword.

With her eyes widened with rage, Revy grabbed the loosened towershield on her back and with a quick and sharp throw, sent it flying towards the counter. "WHO ARE YOU CALLING FAINTHEARTED", she yelled completely enraged, "I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD, YOU RUNT."

As she came next to the tall man, she just roughly pushed him away, saying: "Don't you dare come in my way. This is between me and him." Her voice was low, cold and above all else, showed that she was real about her threat towards Bob. Right now, Revy was unreasonable. You'd need to stand strong in your shoes to keep her back.

OOCBob made a very VERY big mistake. He needs to either start running now or risk getting beheaded. Or he needs alot of luck that Zarek holds Revy back.

"Killroy? He shou-" Before Bob could even finish answering Zarek's question, his attention was drawn to the tower shield flying towards him. His eyes widened seeing the large thing approach and he quickly ducked under the counter. "I knew it. And she wonders why her horse turns out like that with such an oppressive master like that" he thought to himself. Lucky he was smart enough to plan ahead going behind the counter or it would be the sword he can see the woman handling which would lob his head off.

The shield clattered on the ground after it bounced off the front of the counter. Bob got up and faced the woman while he held on to his cane in preparation. He might be wetting himself right now, if not for the fact that he won't want news to spread that he was being terrorized by a woman. A reputation like that in Sunberth? Not too good.

Putting on a brave face he stared the most intense stare he could muster. "This is why your horse turned into a piece of cowardly shyke. Animals can sense how cruel and violent their masters can be." at least according to what Hannah had thought him. "Now, do you want to buy a better horse or risk yours failing halfway in the middle of the Wildlands?" Bob knew how dangerous the wildlands could be. Unless this woman can find companions who can tolerate her to travel in a group which by the looks of it is highly unlikely, a fast horse is what she needed. But if she suddenly got abandoned by it, her chances of survival will be reduced a lot since any of the dangers will easily catch up to her. He hoped that the fact he was trying to impress her was enough to scare her to back off.

"So do you want to see what we got or not?" Bob asked while he went to pick up her shield. What kind of a monster was she to have spikes on them? Carefully he put his fingers below the spikes to try and lift the shield above the ground. Damn it was heavy too. And she threw this? Even if it landed prematurely it was still quite a feat. Bob continued to push it up, putting his weight behind it.

Bob took care when he carried his shield. He put his arms at the bottom, which was pretty dangerous. But to him it was better for him to risk tipping over than to get his hands cut by all those spikes. It was tough to balance his body weight and the weight of the shield. His body was tipped forward and at more than one time, the shield nearly brought him down to the ground. But his quick reflexes helped a lot. While his arms started falling down, he hurriedly stamped his foot to push the shield back up to go against it and continue carrying it all the way to its owner. "Coming?"

But I just work here (Zarek & Revy)

Postby Zarek on September 15th, 2011, 6:55 pm

Expecting some form of a violent reaction after Bobs little outburst about the horse. Zarek was none too surprised by the sudden sight of a flying shield as it whizzed past Zarek. The large and obviously heavy tower shield made a loud bang from the impact against the counter. Revy must have put a lot of force behind that throw, for the teeth of the shield bore into the wood of the counter. Keeping it lodged there for only half a second till it finally fell to the ground, making another loud thud. The teeth marks from the shield were clearly visible on the wooden counter from where it had made impact.

Zarek turned his head to look at where the shield had flown, wondering if his little gambling salesmen had been squished or not. But, just like stage curtains, the shield fell to the ground to reveal Bob, who sat there, wide eyed and obviously a little shaken up. Shesh…talk about a short fuse… Thought Zarek, with one eyebrow raised and a feeble smirk that grew only on one side of his face. But from what Zarek had gathered from this woman, he knew she wasn’t going to just let it go after simply throwing a shield. But, before Zarek could completely turn around to face the women once more. She had already pushed him to the side, as she started to storm her way towards Bob with her eyes wide and fueled with anger.

Ignoring the words of the barbaric women, Zarek instinctively grabbed onto the wrist she had used to shove him to the side. Zareks grin was finally completely wiped off of his face for the first time since he entered the building. He stared at her, with his head slightly lowered as he glared. He was not looking for a fight, but he needed Bob to remain in one piece for long enough to get his Dog. Besides, Zarek always believed in the saying “you scratch mine, I’ll scratch yours.” Maybe by helping Bob, Bob will in turn help him.

However, it seemed Bob did not need much help, because either he had a plan, or a mad set of balls. Fore he did not cower behind the counter, but instead continued to speak, which could either completely piss Revy off, or get her too calm down. Oi, Oi, Oi, lets not say too much more…I’m the one holding onto her, I don’t need you pissing her off more. He thought as Bob continued. Though, Bobs words did ring true, he knew that the chances of survival were slim if you didn’t have either a good horse or survival skills. Zarek just hoped that she could also come to realize this as well and will hopefully calm down. Let us not kill each other till we get what we want, now shall we? After all, He isn’t of much use to you dead.

Shortly after Zarek had said this, he grinned towards Revy and let go of her wrist. After letting her wrist go, he saw the tower shield move about in the corner of his eye. The hell..? He thought. Zarek chuckled slightly at the sight of the towershield, while it continued to walk past the two of them with its little stubble of legs. It was obviously Bob who was carrying the object, but it was still amusing to watch the man carry it as it completely covered his upper torso, only showing his legs. He continued past the two, sometimes taking larger, then smaller steps as he wobbled towards the door, trying to find balance. “Coming?” Bob said. While he made his way to the stables.

Zarek was unsure how the violent woman was going to react at this point. He wanted to make sure he kept on eye on her. While he smiled towards her, he waved his hands in a fashion that edged her to move forward. He was not about to let the one with a sword stand behind him and would much rather have her infront of him ,where he could keep an eye out.

But I just work here (Zarek & Revy)

Postby Revy Hiroe on September 17th, 2011, 7:21 am

The mercenary snapped her head at the guy next to her the moment he grabbed her wrist. She opened her mouth to intimidate him into letting her go, but as she heard Bob again, her anger only flared up higher. She knew he was right and suppressed her anger enough to say: "Petching shortstuff, next time I see you, I'll make you a feet shorter. But for now I'll let you off the hook for now."

Snagging her shield from Bob violently as he reached her, she bit at Zarek: "And you... don't dare touch me again or else." Her voice was cold and dark, showing how serious she was. "The both of them won't survive the next meeting of us. I'll make sure of that.", she thought arrogantly.

Putting her towershield back on her back, she started walking to the stables. She wanted to have this done with and fast, so she could go out and rough a couple people up. Her anger seethed inside of her, eating away at her reason. Her whole body was itching for a fight that she couldn't lure. "Come on, I want to fight something. I need to vent my anger on something or I'll definitely attack these two. Not that that would be a problem, but I want to save killing them for later."

Maybe Zarek was not too bad after all. Just like the first time they met he suddenly rushed hto help. At least now Bob knew how things stood, at least in the current situation. While Bob and Zarek were not what a person may call friends, they had a mutual desire to not have the violent woman having her way in the kennels.

Especially when it looked like she looked like she was not doing her bit to keep things civil. Trying to establish dominance over the others around her by making empty threats. Much like he had seen dogs growling and baring fangs at each other without acting on it. Like Bob had not heard threats like that directed to him before and look at him now. He was still standing healthy before her. As for Zarek, Bob did not know what the threat "or else" meant but he was sure that with two people against her she won't be able to do much.

With the two following behind him, Bob opened the door to the stables. "This is where we keep the horses which hopefully one might be the one you are going home with" and may it break your neck on the way out. Now, which stall was that horse in? Bob waved his finger in the air trying to recall the number he saw on the paper. Then he headed over to the second most expensive horse. A smile started to form on his face. He knew this one very well that he never liked going near it.

He turned back to Revy to present the horse with an extended hand. "Well you're in luck. If you want a spirited horse which is unlike that shyke outside, this is the one you want." It was so spirited that Bob heard there were some injuries among the stablehands who tried to take care of it. Bob had a few attempts before. Only to have him running away a few seconds later. "It has very strong legs, and so you can bet that it can get you to Syliras very fast" Bob said with a widening grin. He knew that the horse preferred to use its strong legs on people rather than the ground. "So yes, if you want a powerful horse to get to Syliras you should ask Mister Killroy for this one" but you will probably get injured on your way out first.

After he was done talking about it, Bob walked off to the most expensive horse on the list. He was very disappointed. This one would not do for his purposes. He knew this was more of a show horse. Bred just to make its rider look good. If he did want Revy to get killed with it, it will only happen on her way to Syliras and it would be at the expense of an innocent horse. But still, if she bought it then Killroy might just get happy about it. Better still if she found out its flaw and delayed her trip to Syliras. That should get her in more trouble.

"Now this one as you can see if very well trained" Bob said holding out his hand to its head. The horse neighed and got closer to him for him to rub it a little. "Its very, very loyal as you can see. So if you want a horse which would obey you all the way to Syliras I'd recommend this one." though any training would get thrown out the window once the horse realized what his owner really was. "And look at it. Can't you see how well taken care of and healthy it looks? I am sure it would be a reliable ride to Syliras for you" at least until you get outrun by wild animals and eaten. But Revy and Zarek should be able to see just how glossy and beautiful its body was. Not to mention how well it has been brushed and fed. It doesn't take an expert to see the efforts put on this horse.

Finally finishing his tricky and sneaky sales pitch Bob turned back to Revy and gave her a little smile. "So which one do you like? If you have any questions I will try to answer then you can talk to Killroy later." Then like he was sharing a secretive tip, Bob leaned forward over to her and said in a low voice "Though I'd recommend the first one I already shown you. You should see that thing in action when Hannah takes it out for a spin." Of course she was experienced and loved by the animals unlike Revy. But the woman didn't need to know that now did she? Well, Zarek was here too. Sooooo "Since there are two horses maybe you might want one too Zarek?" he asked with a grin shaking his head at the second horse to signal Zarek.

But I just work here (Zarek & Revy)

Postby Revy Hiroe on November 18th, 2011, 9:37 pm

The mercenary eyed the runt in front of her as he was talking about the first horse. It did look like a fine horse, but it also looked a bit expensive. And seeing that she was low on hard coin, it would probably be out of her price league anyway. "I hope this runt doesn't have any ideas of selling me a bad horse. Would behead him right away if he did.", she thought as she was suspicious of the little ugly shopkeeper. Revy's knowledge of horses was at best...... nothing. She knew how to keep it fed properly, but that's where it ended usually.

After seeing the second horse, Zarek left, grumbling something about wanting a dog, not a horse. Revy couldn't help but smile a bit demonic as her eyes shot fire. Now there wasn't anything that would prevent her from killing the guy, but first she had to get the deal done with. Cracking her knuckles she said: "Ey runt, you'd better not sell me any crap horse, or I WILL come back to kill you. Mark my words."

Either way, right now she didn't act on those words, but her body language did say that she wasn't kidding. The woman had her hand lightly on her longsword as she then spat on the ground. "Got any other horses? Want to see a couple more, and their price before I decide. And I want to get a second opinion. I don't trust a shortstuff like you."

Did Revy really think that just because Zarek had left she would have an easy time beheading Bob or try to anyway when he sold one of those bad, overpriced horses to her? Everyone seem to easily make the mistake when it comes to the runt that he is not capable of defending himself but that was better than them taking him seriously from the start and making things harder for him. Once this customer went out of line of her role and thinks of bewildering the animals with Bob's blood instead of buying any of them then she will see who exactly gets beheaded. Beheaded does not mean killing does it? Bob saw her cracking her knuckles and just stared and waved her off. "If I really did sell you a crap horse, you would not be able to come back and kill me because..." as Bob had pointed out to her earlier she would have problems in the Wildlands. Exactly what he wanted to achieve besides getting this woman's money and imagining that a smile formed on his face when he said "...I would never dare to anger someone as special as you." He would rather beat her down and if failing that he would just run away.

Watching how she had her hand on her longsword, Bob held his canesword tighter and waved around the stables telling his customer who better enjoy the position as long as she could because he is forced to politely tell her "as you can see, the stables is full of horses and as everyone who is smart enough to know," yes Bob was implying that Revy might be stupid if she did not listen to his advice that "prices always define the quality." She will get the second opinion that she wanted when "Mister Killroy will tell you that when you meet him too. Just think of what I have to say as suggestions from someone who has worked here for some time and knows the animals well. He will set the prices for you" and happily do it too if Bob was successful in convincing Revy that one of these two horses. He needed to make sure that she does it. "If you think that I don't have the best interests of the customer at heart, you can check the horses on your own and ask me for advice when you need it" which she would hopefully do because of her limited knowledge.

Unlike his words which suggested that he could not be trusted, the djed contained in them said otherwise. The suggestion worked into her to try and make her think that if the runt is honest enough to admit that he is untrustworthy, he would be honest enough in recommending her a horse. Bob has not lived long enough in Sunberth to properly assume that Revy would believe that but he had to work with what he know about people in the more nicer places like Zeltiva and Syliras. Even if Bob might fail in trying to get her to buy the horse he wanted for her, that would not stop him from offering her that the choice of "a dog would be cheaper and offer you the protection a horse would lack when you get through the Wildlands. It makes a good companion too." One which this woman would obviously need given her lack of proper manners. "Zarek's loss is your gain and you know you want this..." How could Bob not think of this before? Give her the most violent dog in the Kennels. One that would eat her in her sleep.

Postby Revy Hiroe on November 21st, 2011, 9:18 pm

The mercenary clacked her tongue. The runt was truly pissing her off with every single word he said. The horses he presented, looked truly expensive and while it was true that prices usually defined the quality, something in the back of her mind kept telling her not to go for what he said. And as her gut feeling usually didn't fail her, she followed it this time as well.

"Got any other horses that fulfill my requirements?", Revy asked. She just went by her feeling, even though the words of Bob made her doubt a little. One thing she did know, a dog wasn't going to work. She needed a horse and not some mutt. What would carry her possessions otherwise?

"Great, now the runt is trying to make me buy a damn mutt as well. What's he gonna try to sell me next? His mom?", she thought annoyed as her face started to twitch a little. Her patience was wearing out and her bloodlust started to rise again. She needed to hit someone or something and soon. Otherwise she might just lose all of her cool and destroy the place.

OOCBob, weren't you going to let some thugs come? Right now, I'm starting to lose complete inspiration for this thread. Btw sorry for the crappost.

If this woman was a real lady, Bob would take her hard to get attitude as an incentive to court her but she was no lady at all. Bob could only guess that she was common muscle which could be found anywhere in Sunberth if not a thug for one of their gangs when he looked at the longsword she is without a doubt putting on display and remembering that menacing shield that she tried to throw at him earlier but would she really have a chance to be a part of the latter? Setting aside her mannerisms which would cause a lot of friction with the other gang members and inevitable rape-murder, she was still a woman and unless very very very capable she had no chance of recognition. No, Bob concluded that if she tried to cause him any trouble today he could handle it or escape very easily as she would be encumbered by that large sword and heavy shield.

As much as he wanted to, he just cannot do it yet...he still needed to make a sale which she wanted. Giving a smile to hide away his anger he told her pleasantly that "all the horses fit your requirements miss. You will of course get to Zeltiva" as she wanted but getting there in one piece is another story. "Now these horses are trained by the best Killroy has. Of course the price reflects on just how well the training is. You want a good horse you gotta pay more but if you really want..." then a cheap and bad horse would satisfy the both of them at a halfway point... It was really what Bob wanted and his face showed his disgust towards this cheapskate customer in a little glaring frown as he told her "fine. I will show you the cheap horses. Not as good for getting to Zeltiva but it is your choice. Just come with me this way" leading her to the back where the less presentable horses are kept because not many people wanted those.

Just as they were about to reach the back the door opened for "more customers?" Not quite. It was a group of three men trying to pull something with much difficulty through the door. "Do you need help with that?" Bob asked with a smile prefering to try another attempt at successfully making a sale today than wasting his energy on a failed one. Well, it is fine if they wanted to do it themselves because it meant less work for Bob but he really did want to get on those people's good side so it is easier to swind...persuade them to buy something but it seems that "you fellows want to sell a horse?" This was bad. Now Bob really needed Killroy but the worst part of all was this horse is the one that a certain impolite customer left outside unattended.

Forgetting about what he was actually supposed to do because he left her to "choose one you think you want and get back to me", Bob went up to appraise the horse just to see if he could prove himself as a valuable employee asking a few of those important questions like "how long did you have this horse? Not even a day?" of course since it was only here at the Kennels but it was nothing strange here since anything not taken care of can be appropriated without a second thought. "Where did you find it?" Bob raised a scrutinizing eyebrow since the leader said "just outside?" That could be Killroy's but normally the horses as far as he knew were kept inside unless someone needed to work with them. "You are sure that this does not belong Killroy's right? No matter. We will find it out soon enough" and continued on to appraise it like he think he learnt for the past few days.

Bob stepped closer to the horse which began to back away. "Hold it still why don't you?" he asked them and held out his hands which the horse did its beast to avoid. "What a shy horse...no wonder you do not want to keep it for yourself..." he mentioned until he was able to feel over its head to its ears and then its shoulders. "It feels kind of strange too...are you sure you have been feeding it right?" he asked. With all the other horses the parts felt more thick and firm. This horse is not really that good but it was only in his personal opinion. Killroy had the final say and of course, the horses very own owner in the stables who should act soon before her property is forfeit.
