[Stumble Alley] Hunting for Heads (Bob)

Postby Eryss Waldu on November 7th, 2011, 10:04 pm

[Incapacitating the Daggerhand that had been distracted by the dog Eryss had diverted his attention to the man that Bob was now engaging and aiming carefully. The Dog should have been able to finish off the last man or at least ensure he was thoroughly ravaged and out of the fight which is why Eryss spared him little residual thought as he watched Bob and the final Daggerhand. Bob appeared quite the skilled combatant when it came to the use of his Cane Sword regardless of his small stature and Eryss was suddenly gaining a bit more respect for the man despite his stature.]

[Using the gaseous res he had shaped into an orb in his right hand Eryss, waiting for an opening despite his accuracy with reimancy, would have shouted...”BACK!”...a moment before unleashing the force of his attack on the Daggerhand. He’d shouted loudly so that Bob had enough time to move away from the man and out of the radius of what might have been an explosion. Igniting the exterior of the gaseous res Eryss would transmute it until it was a brilliant flame and then with a subtle mental command he hurled it at the Daggerhand after warning Bob to move away and out of range. It didn’t take long for the attack to land and less for its real potential to show through.]

[As the Fireball hit the Daggerhand Eryss transformed the remainder of the res he used to control the movements of reimancy though instead of doing this in a simple flesh he’d will the gaseous res to expand while igniting the rest of it. Like a veritable, though contained, tidal wave of flame Eryss watched as the fire spread out across the Daggerhand and began burning him in a brilliant display of pyrotechnics that made the Mage beside himself with glee. Were the man already near death it might have shocked his system into killing him instantly but instead the young Daggerhand would burn and sizzle and his life would drain out of him slowly while his body was disfigured beyond recognition.]

[Watching this Eryss seemed extremely pleased and when he was sure the burnt boy was no longer living, or at least so burnt he might as well have been considered dead, he looked back at the Dog and the man he had helped the canine render inert. Nodding his head Eryss would have announced...”Well done. Like clockwork.”...signifying that he felt everything had gone according to plan though before they could loot there was one more thing the Mage felt needed to be done as a precaution. Moving beyond the area where the Daggerhand had originally engaged the Sun’s Birth Eryss would have stepped several paces away before coming to a halt without looking back at Bob or the Dog who were likely now recovering themselves.]

[Outstretching his right hand Eryss would open his palm as though he were pressing it against a wall before slowly stirring the Djed in his body. Channelling that same Djed Eryss would will it to wash outwards from his palm across the width of the alley as though it were a wave of translucent force that gradually began to fade from view. The entire process would take several minutes and Eryss raised his left hand, plucking at the translucent wave, as though he were weaving something before he finally finished in due time. The Shield itself was as wide as the alley and roughly ten feet in height meaning it would be difficult to pass over and Eryss had tasked it against Biologics meaning that men could not pass its threshold while giving it a secondary task against light and the sense of sight so that the Shield appear as a wall of darkness to anyone who witnessed it. At night in the darkness of Stumble Alley anyone looking from a distance would likely just think it was a product of the night itself and might risk running into it if they weren’t prepared. It would last several hours before dissipating on its own if Eryss calculations were correct and no one penetrated it. No one would be able to come from that direction of Stumble Alley now.]

[When he was finished Eryss would look back towards Bob and nod once, civilly at least now that Bob had played his part, before saying...”We may as well begin. This loot is yours as well. Don’t be shy.”...and then glancing towards one of the fallen bodies. He was paranoid and wanted to make sure the Daggerhand that the Dog had been fighting with was actually dead so reaching into his robes Eryss would draw a dagger in his right hand before approaching the fallen youth. Without hesitation as he sank to a knee Eryss would plunge the blade into the fallen bodies chest, stabbing deeply to ensure that there would be no mistake. Wiping the blade on the tunic of the Daggerhand then he’d conceal it back inside his robes and seem satisfied with this outcome.]

[Stumble Alley] Hunting for Heads (Bob)

Bob was too busy with his own opponent to even bother with how the dog was doing with the one it was against but he will not have any troubles believing in its capabilities. It was a dog trained in Killroy's Kennels specifically for the type of dangers that Sunberth had to offer which was not excluding a Daggerhand recruit. For Bob's own opponent, he first took a slash with his sword against the boy to block the sword that was coming for him. While he struggled to push his sword against his opponent's, Bob took the chance to swing the cane as well right at the boy's ribs only to be dodged when the Daggerhand stepped back and came with another charge thrusting the sword forward. It was Bob's turn then when he dived to the side to miss the point. The ground was one of the most disadvantageous places to be and Bob knew he had to get up soon. Trying to keep the Daggerhand away he wildly stabbed his sword at his direction, pressing his hand to the ground until he got up to let the cane join the sword in a harder attack.

The boy went for another thrust which Bob saw in time to try for a block. He smacked the sword at the air in front of him to push the sword away and followed through with the cane coming from the same direction to hit Bob's opponent. Trying to get the Daggerhand to retreat he snarled a warning that "you are going to die unless you get away now" as soon as the cane smashed into flesh. Knowing what happened to his two partners who still did not come to his aid and if that it was a real sword he would be down now, the boy paused for a moment giving Bob enough time to concentrate on his eyes. Unlike Eryss who used res on his hands for an attack, Bob used djed from his eyes staring at the Daggerhand who was blankly staring back to raise the feeling of inevitable doom in him. He was no stranger to it having been in so many situations which had it but he always survived so it was easy to draw on any one of the memories most recently was the mists. However, in order to make his mental attack effective Bob was forced to do his best to blur out his victory at the end and focus only on the parts before it which he hated like the Craven, Lucerne's army of possessed people and even Darik taking the lead which was the best thing to make him think that he was doomed then.

It worked too well and with a desperate yell the boy charged forward with his sword. Bob alerted of the danger looked right at the sword coming for him and because he still did not cut off the release of djed, it reflected back into his eyes causing the feelings to overwhelm him as well. To him, the feelings came from the sword and not himself so Bob who was unaware of the source could not fight back against it and screamed in fear as he raised his sword and cane to meet the Daggerhand's own. The warning from Eryss for Bob to get back was made even more effect from the panic Bob had and he instinctively spun to escape from the side allowing the fire attack to run unhindered towards its intended target and sparing Bob from the sight of a funeral pyre fit for Daggerhands.

For a time Bob ignored anything else which went on as he tried to gather his wits of what was going on. Since he was not dead yet he could figure that the Daggerhand group were dead as well and they were safe, but for how long? The word loot got Bob out of it and he sprung not to make a grab for it but to tell Eryss that "you really are crazy! We need to get out of here before anyone else sees us in" pointing to the dog feasting on barbecued humans "all this." He could tell that Eryss was being very calm about all this but he just attributed this to Crimson Edge madness so unless Eryss told him the reason why, that they would he hidden from sight as long as the shields were up, Bob is going to be focused on escaping.

Grabbing the leash Bob would tell the dog to "come along boy before anyone else jumps out to kill us" but was ignored because the dog was really enjoying its spoils. Bob petted it on the head as he tried to push it towards him complimenting that "you did a good job but we really need to go. I'll give you some food when we reach home" he told it with a nervous smile. He did not want to make it angry because it might even eat him and he learned that rewarding the dogs was always a good thing. Rewarding it with real dog food was what he wanted to do. He cannot have it developing a taste for human flesh under his watch. Think of the complications it will have on its new owners and what would happen to Killroy's reputation. Bob might even get blamed for it too if he was unlucky enough. While the dog was under that woman's supervision he did take it out for a day and that was long enough to mess up. Maybe he can blame Darik?

The plans would have to wait for later and Bob tugged the dog away from the corpse it kept trying to move to. "Just...come...with...me...!" he grunted until it was finally away and Bob was able to put his body between the two obscuring the corpse from the dog. Stroking it and telling it what a "good boy" it was to calm it down he would fortunately miss yet another display of madness from Eryss who stabbed at the body just to make sure that the dead were already dead. The man must have been watching too man nuit horror plays frankly if his paranoia can get him to that level.

One last time Bob looked at Eryss before deciding on anything that "we have to go now Crimson!" and he pointed at the direction away from where the Daggerhands and Sun's Birth came from. His only guess from where he had come from is that the deeper in they went the more fighting they would run into and this mad leader would pull him into yet another killing. It was the last thing he needed because all Bob wanted to do now was get back to the Kennels where it was safe.

[Stumble Alley] Hunting for Heads (Bob)

Postby Eryss Waldu on November 13th, 2011, 5:36 pm

[Assuming that Bob would have joined him Eryss only looked up when he heard the man’s voice proclaiming that he was crazy and that all of them needed to leave now. Smirking beneath the hood he used to cover his features Eryss would look at Bob before shaking his head while the smaller man struggled to pull the dog away from its spoils as it enjoyed the charred flesh of one of the dead men. Though Bob couldn’t see his expression beneath the hood he wore he’d likely get the distinct impression that Eryss wasn’t altogether worried nor in any rush to leave the spoils he had just gained. After all if Bob and Eryss didn’t loot these bodies then others definitely would.]

[Placing his hands on the body he had just stabbed Eryss would begin to search the Daggerhand slowly, looking for a coin purse or something similar that he could take off of him, though as he did this he would eventually remark to Bob...”Not to worry. We’re safe from prying eyes. I’ve Shielded this alley from that direction.”...Eryss would have said while motioning towards the section of the alley opposite the way Bob and he had come down before continuing...”Anyone on the other side will only be able to see a wall of darkness and anyone actually wanting to investigate will need to pass through a potent biological ward.”...if that wasn’t enough to reassure Bob then Eryss would let him go on his own way and leave. As it was though after Eryss had found the coin pouch on the body he had been searching he moved to another of the fallen combatants and began to likewise search him for anything of value no matter what it might have been.]

[While Eryss worked he’d occasionally look up so that he knew what Bob, and the Dog, was doing. He was paranoid so it stood to reason that Eryss was quite thorough when it came to his own safety and would take precautions to ensure it. Inspecting a dead member of the Sun’s Berth that was propped against a wall, his body riddled with multiple stab wounds, Eryss would lean closer before startling somewhat as the man gasped for breath and his eyes popped open. Looking frantically the man would have rasped... ”Hhhh....Help...me!”...though Eryss, recovering from his mild surprise, would have only shook his head at the man before responding...”Yes. Yes, I will help you.”...the Mage exclaimed before reaching out to place his hands around the man’s neck.]

[Maybe this wasn’t Bobs cup of tea but Eryss quite enjoyed it. It didn’t seem like murder to Eryss who reasoned that the man was dying anyways and he was merely helping him along. Locking his hands around the neck of the man Eryss began to choke him though, the man tried to fight raising his arm and such but in his weakened state he was no match for the Mage who suffered none of the limitations of fatigue or blood loss, it didn’t take long before the man was dead and Eryss was wiping his hands off against the cloak he wore. As though nothing had occurred Eryss would then go about searching the body of the man, patting it down and looking for valuables, like he had with all the others before moving on.]

[Throughout this entire process Eryss would leave several corpses for Bob to search as well for his own spoils, the Dog got cooked meat for its reward, seeing as though the Mage did have a sense that Bob had assisted him and so should be rewarded. Naturally sharing in the loot was his reward. Once he had finished looking for coin, rings, jewellery and anything like that Eryss would stand back onto his feet and glance at the bodies of the deceased members of the Sun’s Berth and shake his head subtly. It seemed a shame not to be able to take their weapon and armour with him but he was only one man and could hardly carry all of them back to the Crimson Edge camp with him so they would have to stay. Besides that it seemed a more natural scene if the bodies were largely untouched of what they wore.]

[Now that he had finished Eryss would look back at Bob and in a satisfied voice state...”Pleasure to make your acquaintance. Now I’d suggest we go our separate ways until the next time.”...and by the way he said it Bob could likely only assume that Eryss believed there would be a next time for the both of them. No names were exchanged, nothing like that, but Eryss knew his face and well which would be enough to help him find him again. On that note Eryss would have turned to move down the alley in the direction that Bob and he had come from leaving the corpses of the dead to lay until they were discovered by someone else. It was over for tonight.]

Something he knew about shielding nagged in his mind that if Eryss was confident that his own shields can do all of that then it should not be much of a problem to remain in the alley a little while longer. "Just a little while wouldn't hurt then" he answered choosing to take what he rightfully earned. While it was only a bunch of greenhorns, fighting with them was still tough. They still had to be fairly competent to at least be accepted into the ranks of the Daggerhands. Without Eryss, Bob might be able to survive on his own at best with some horrible wounds and a dead dog. Without Bob, Eryss would be able to fry most of them before getting cut badly. Bob expected to get at least half of it and the dog seemed intent that it's share was the fried meat which forced Bob to decide to start with the Sun Birth's members. They were from a richer of society here in Sunberth so it was the best choice especially when Bob wanted to keep the dog away from the charred remains and that from the way they looked there would be nothing worth salvaging unless it was able to withstand the intense heat.

Going against the driven dog yet again Bob exerted himself to pull it all the way to one of the bodies grunting that "it is not good to be greedy with low quality Sunberth scum when you get better things back home." Reaching out Bob patted around the corpse to feel for anything that might be there but all he could find then was armour which did not even do much good for their previous owner and weapons he did not need so he tried squeezing in his hand inside. "Eww, disgusting" be mumbled to himself and the dog seemed to disagree with Bob's opinion on corpses. While his attention was not all there, the dog darted forward and Bob lost his grip on the leash and tumbled on the ground.

The prospect of getting something made Bob forget why he was holding on to the dog in the first place and he allowed it to do whatever he wanted. Hopefully this will be the first and last time it had any human meat. Bob now used both hands to get into the pockets and spaces taking any small objects he could find. Coin pouches, trinkets, jewelry and ornaments and stuffed them into his pockets before moving over to the next corpse on his list. "No, no I can help myself" Bob told Eryss. This was his share of the loot and there was no way Eryss is going to help himself to it even if it was under the context of helping Bob out. But wow, these people seriously should have better things to bring along to a fight. In Bob's opinion the things he was looting did not help them much at all unless it was for morale. If he was one of them he would have invested in better armor for himself so he would not have added to the number of corpses here.

Through all that Bob will completely miss the brutal display from Eryss and the dog chowing down even more. How natural was Eryss expecting this scene to be when someone else actually found it? Charred and half eaten corpses would not really do so well for his plans because unless the Sun's Birth utilized attack dogs and mages, it would be hard to believe that this was the work of the Daggerhand's enemies. Not Bob's problems whatever Eryss had planned. His only work right now was walking the dog which turned out rather interesting and collecting the spoils. "Ooooh, this looks promising!" Bob said grabbing on to a rather heavy pouch which he pocketed before Eryss could see what was going on.

After they were done taking all that they could, Bob said his "goodbye Crimson" noting that since he still did not have a name he was was not going to give his either. At least that way once people were hunting for a wild Crimson Edge mage and caught him, Eryss would not be able to provide the name of his accomplice. Next time sounded very bad for Bob but he knew it was inevitable the more he hung out with the rest of the group. It was surprising that their first actual meeting was by chance rather than at the camp itself. Very enthusiastic about finally parting ways with the crazy mage Bob took to the opposite direction from Eryss pulling on the dog's leash as he told it "I hope you are satisfied with you meal enough to not give me any troubles on the way back." The Bob just growled and ignored its small handler which was a little bit frustrating as he pulled on its leash calling it to "come on, lets leave before anyone else comes!"

Bob took the lead for a moment when he walked towards the direction of the opening and then the dog ran ahead only to stop at the clearing. "What now?" he asked tiredly telling the dog that "unless you can sense someone else there we are going through" because they had to go home. "Go, go, go!" he repeatedly commanded and waved the leash but the dog just sat rooted on the spot. "Fine, have it your way you stupid mutt" he said and charged for the opening intent on dragging the dog behind him all the way to the kennels until he was suddenly stopped and bounced back after crashing on something. He just had to forget about the shield didn't he? The dog made some mocking pants and walked to another direction and after Bob recovered he grabbed the leash to follow reminding the dog that "you can lead as long as you remember I am the leader" a little bit rough in the voice until it became pitifully apologetic as he told the dog "if you want as long as we go back now..." when it turned back its head to bare its fangs.
