Finder's keepers losers weepers as they say and that was the reason why as soon as Bob heard about the shipwreck he raced to the bay. While he might find that cool looking lizard tomorrow and maybe something else better the day after, nothing beats having the first pick. "You know Jinsen...you may like boring old stuff like food but Bob likes to have the interesting stuff you know? They need to look fun and interesting with their own things to tell" he told the dog as though it would understand what he was saying and realize what he wanted. The reason is eventhough humans were smarter than the animals unless you count the dead in Sunberth and fools like Darik, dogs like Jinsen just had that very astute sense of things. Danger, valuables, food, you name it they know it. So..."Jinsen! Find me something which will make me happy today you hear?" he asked grabbing a rock and rolling it on the sand like Jinsen's new favorite toy which was the snowglobe it also found "and maybe I will make you happy too" rubbing the dog under the jaw before rolling the rock over to the front which it followed.

Bob was not the only one looking around though. Walking around the bayside he saw Jinsen scratching its paw on...something. Not a body like he will find tomorrow but a box! Where there are boxes there are stuff, hopefully. "What do you have there boy?" Bob asked excitedly and ran right for it. On his way he saw that Jinsen was just about to..."wait! Stop! Jinsen! Don't do it!" he yelled out. While the dog may have found it, the contents should go to Bob as its owner but now Bob could only "sigh..." and rub his face in frustration because the dog had just marked its territory on the box. For those who do not know how its done, lets just say that Bob is not going to want whatever is inside unless it was really worth it. In fact, if someone else came asking nicely that they wanted the crate he would be very willing to give it up.

Sweeping his cane sword to push the dog away from the crate slowly he would tell it to "just wait and let me check what is inside alright?" Jinsen must have really sensed something inside because it was not letting up. Pointing the cane away from the box, Bob who was getting quite annoyed growled a command that "Jinsen, go now and wait!" until Bob was done. The dog by now should know that Bob was a really patient master but there are times that he gets tired of it. Pushing the dog away with the cane to the side Bob would tell it one last time just to get through its skull that it should "stay!" and proceeded to draw his sword out on his way back to the box.

Holding the sword up, Bob took aim of the crack between the box and the crate and made a stab right into it. Wedging it in deeper and deeper until it stopped, Bob started applying pressure on the box to prop it up but it was just too tough. These things were really built to keep things in but Bob would not give up. "Too. Bad. You. Can't. Help. Without. Hands" he grunted out to his dog each time he pushed the sword down until he finally gave up. "This is so not worth it right?" he asked Jinsen as he struggled to pull out the sword. Even better! Now even the sword was stuck on it. This was so different from the rocks that he used to train with years ago. Right that is going to be his story. He cannot pull out the sword because some akalaks thought that pulling rocks are more useful for training the body. Pressing his foot at the side Bob continued trying and it was maddening until he yelled out at random a very popular folklore that "if I get this out then I will be king!"

All the commotion would bring a lot of attention and Jinsen started growling first. Ignoring the dog he put a finger to his lips and told it to "keep quiet! If I find something for you I will give it to you as well alright?" Maybe a new toy like that snowglobe but then he finally heard some other voices behind him asking about what they were getting. Surprised, Bob gave a tiny hop and the sword got pulled out but it was so sudden that he dropped on the sand and had an upside down view of the world. Wait that was Sunberth where everyone was a petching shyke in their own way like the three people who wanted to get a share of his goodies.

At least they had the decency to wait until Bob got up so maybe Bob would give them a share or maybe they were just held in place by the growling of Jinsen which Bob looked to with a smile and said "its alright Jinsen, they are friends. Remember? Like Zenai?" bringing up one arm and wrapping it around an imaginary person so that the dog would get an idea. Then facing the trio he lifted the other other hand to show his whole body all friendly like because he had to ask if "friends share nice things together right?" but apparently in Sunberth the answer was no because they said the short friend has to work to open the crate and then leave whatever he took from it including his sword so that his other friends will not have to beat him into a pulp for it. That was not very nice. Forget giving them anything but a butt whopping after this.

When they mentioned beat, Bob took a good look at them and found out why they said that. They were nothing more than a group of impoverished kids if what he could think from their tattered clothes told him looking for something to keep them going for the next season. They did not even have a proper weapon between them. Only the biggest one had a cheap kitchen knife all rusty and dirty unless the other two had weapons on them. One thing for sure, Bob did not want to get but by that. It was not because he was afraid of knives but of what would happen after that. He would have to "brrrrr..." meet the doctor of Sunberth.

They started to get impatient and Bob knew what he had to do and so did "Jinsen, you know what to do with friends right?" ignoring any outbursts he pointed at one of them and said "he is your best friend" with a smile and waited until the dog started charging at him tongue wagging before Bob went at the one with the knife with his own sword. He heard some shouts of surprise indicating the boys inexperience in any fight and then a squeals of terror when Jinsen started lapping on one's face. After that anyone close by could hear the clanging of his sword on the biggest's dagger.

While Jinsen had that one incapacitated, Bob still had to take on two. Using his sword he blocked and sliced at the rusty dagger with focused tenacity of not wanting to get hit. His other hand had him waving his cane wildly without restraint at the other. In the end it was no use to try fighting two people off even if they were just boys and he had a weapon for each of them. Bob was still not used to using both in each hand and the rusty dagger still terrified him so...why not share what he felt? Staring at the one with the dagger, Bob focused some djed into his eyes with all the terror and pushed it out into his armed opponent. It could have worked if not for the fact that Bob only worked it out in tiny trickles instead of one gushing powerblast. When he saw the dagger coming his way, Bob cut it off leaving most of the djed lingering in him unable to work on anything...but himself. With a squeal or terror he beat the dagger away from him and knocked the cane into the other's cheek.

All that was not without its effect and the big boy was wavering even if it was a little bit. That was enough for Bob to make a quick slice at his hand and make a big cut in it forcing him to drop the dagger. The other one? He was rubbing on his cheek on the sand crying and the last one finally got Jinsen off eventhough his face was all soggy. He looked angrily at Bob and then at his friends who were incapacitated somewhat and Bob asked him whether "is it your turn?" with the evillest smile he could make and gleaming the sunlight off his sword to his target. Finally they all gave up.

Now it was not that Bob was evil but he just could not allow the boys to leave so easily. Taking the knife and throwing it into the water he told the boys to "open up the crate" and of course they were protesting with lame excuses. Tired, Bob smacked one in the head with a cane, smashed the flat of his sword behind the knee of another and whistled shaking his head at the last for Jinsen to do whatever it wanted. In a matter of moments they were saying that they would do it as long as he stopped and he put his sword away and carried up Jinsen telling it that "that is enough boy. I am sure they know how friendly you can be now" and with a smile he asked a question to confirmed whether he was "right?" getting back some forced smiles and nods for his trouble.

Long story short, they all got the crate open and its contents was not that interesting for Bob. Just some cargo to be shipped off somewhere and there could be other people who could use it. While he could have tried to sell it, that would be too much trouble on his part since he did not have much business sense or trusted any of the Sunberth merchants to give him a good price. Still, it was a shame that it would all go to waste so he smacked his cane at the head of the biggest boy who he believed was the leader of the group since he also had the only weapon to get his attention when he told him to "put all this to good use" and smacking it at his bleeding hand he told him to "get that wound looked at too." Grabbing Jinsen's leash he began to walk to look for other things but he looked back and pointed 'V' fingers at his eyes and then at them telling them to "watch yourselves properly. Next time you won't get someone as nice as me."

That was a waste of a good morning but things could not get any worse. No, they only got better. Like everyone already knows, finder's keepers losers weepers but Bob did not get to keep anything until it was first come first served. It was that rowboat that Antar would find later only getting the one valuable left which was the compass. Want to know why? Simple. As soon as Bob stumbled on the body, he went "Do you know what this is Jinsen?" and lifted the dog up to have a look at it. "Its a captain of a ship! The most important person on board" for all the good it did now that he was dead. Looking around so that he will not be caught by surprise as with the three boys earlier, Bob told Jinsen that "now it is me" with a satisfied grin and went over to take what he wanted.

Bob excitedly stripped the man off his clothes. All the nice pretty clothes leaving the dull and boring armor behind and yes, he took the mark of a captain as well or what he thought it was from how he saw them back in Zeltiva. The longest spyglass he had ever seen maybe because this was the closest he had ever been to one. It was so big that he scoffed at the stupid small compass and left it behind for whoever else to get it like Antar and ran off with it and a bundle of clothes with Jinsen telling it that "now I am going to show you the power of clothes." The worst part was, if Bob could he will end up dressing up his dog sooner or later and Jinsen could do nothing about it even if it wanted to unless it prayed. But what do gods pray to if not their masters?

He ran off towards the city hoping that no one would find him there since they were all so busy scavenging the remains of the wreck until he found a concealed place to hide in. Bob led his dog to a spot at its entrance and told it to "stay and bark if anyone comes alright?" Nodding his head and pointing to himself to tell Jinsen that Bob was good and looking outwards and shaking his head to tell it everyone else was bad, he went in coming out a few moments later all dressed up as Captain Barton! No one would recognize him well enough unless they were looking real closely. There was the cool captain's hat, the most awesome monocle with a matching eyepatch to go behind it even if he found those on separate eyes on the corpse and the oversized but snazzy captain's coat. While the coat gave him some problems which he solved by wearing his clothes under to give him some extra bulk, the pants were the worst of all. It was just too long but with the help of the belt and folding up the bottom, Bob was able to make it work somehow and it was really effective. When he stepped out Jinsen started barking very wildly until the sound of his voice when he told the dog "it is alright Jinsen" was so familiar that it knew just who it was dealing with.

"Now for the fun part" Bob said holding up the spyglass. Grabbing everything he ran to a high point and started looking through the spyglass and saw all the looting going on and them being satisfied with something as stupid as musical instruments. Then he held it out to Jinsen asking it to "look through it. It is fun" but the dog was shocked which just how far that it was looking and shook Bob's arms off. "Have it your way" Bob said looking through the spyglass again to watch the group and after a while the red haired one turned to his direction and he recognized who it was. Keeping the spyglass away Bob told Jinsen that "its time for us to meet our real friends" and wondered just how long it would take until Zenai realized that Captain Barton is actually his buddy Bob?

With Jinsen at his side Bob made his way to shipwreck dodging the rest of the scavengers on the way just in case they wanted his stuff again. It became easy when he told "Jinsen, we don't want to meet anyone but Zenai alright?" which made the dog in the lead move away from anyone whose scent it caught and also with the spyglass, Bob could see people before they could see him. "No Jinsen, not there. We will go through there" pointing at another direction. It took longer than the straight route but then safety was always better. Only once he was forced to pass by a group and that he hugged on to Jinsen whispering for it to "be quiet" over and over as he crawled on the sand until he passed them by and were on their way.

It was just disappointing that when he reached the shipwreck there were guards all over the place. Bob looked around to look for another way in and then he saw that the ship was riddled with holes. Excellent! After looking at the way he would do it, he started to climb up using the holes and footholds and handholds. It was so slippery and tiresome, worst than anything he had climbed before but after taking the time Bob got up to the middle hole when he realized something. Jinsen had no hands! Putting the bundle on the floor, Bob searched around until he found a rope and tied it on one of the supports which were still intact. Holding on the rope, Bob started hopping down. Releasing and tightening his grip each time until he reached the bottom where Jinsen was to tie a rope around it. At least now there was a rope and Bob used it to hold with his hands. The holes were still needed as footholds though and he got up faster this time with the support of the rope. At the top he started pulling Jinsen up and heard some panicked yelping mostly muffled by the sounds of the sea but instead of his dog's feelings, Bob was more worried about "what have I been feeding you Jinsen?" This was ten times worst than the trying to open that box or anything with rocks that Xalet had put him through.

After catching his breath from all the hard work Bob started walking around the ship looking at all the other neat things that he will not be able to get because he was just in time to hear the words chest and wretches. Bob walked in right through the door after Eridanus and heard the word Captain so he just spoke out loud saying that "the only captain we have here is Captain Barton you petching landlubbers!" knocking his canesword on the floorboards to get their attention. "And my first mate..." which was nowhere to be seen...stupid Jinsen..."is on his way shortly." While Bob had no idea what was going on, if it came to a fight he would take sides with his friends or "my crew" gesturing to Zenai and Eridanus "would be more than enough to take care of you scum who are still wet behind your ears" gathering a large quantity of saliva and spitting it to the side in disgust as he saw all sailors do. If he was going to look the part he might as well act it as well only...instead of one clean shot to the side the saliva stuck to his lips and made a disgusting trail to the floor which is going to tell everyone that he was not who he seemed.

Is it just a coincidence that these people are here? Or is Fate playing at his strings and tangling it up with other’s? The situation was already tensed with the so-called Captain Morgan Stanley wanting his chest back, and clearly willing to put his rapier through anyone’s and everyone’s hearts to do it. One by one, they all appeared. Eridanus, Zenai’s good and reliable friend, had come at a bad time but his intentions were noble. Zenai couldn’t blame him. Then Zenai followed the Zeltivan captain’s gaze and saw there was someone watching from above. Who was he? Another scavenger? He could be a vulture, ready to pick at the corpses when all the fighting has been done? Zenai needs to keep an ear on that one. Then there’s Bob, good ol’ Bob willing to help out Zenai then ask for something in return. Not only that, he came in a captain’s uniform that’s clearly too big for him and tried to act like a sailor of sorts. Zenai assumed that his first mate was Jinsen or Darik. Petch! This left the real captain surrounded and corned, and cornered beasts usually would fight the hardest and the most desperate of fights.

Zenai didn’t have time to draw his own swords out as the captain rushed forward with all the unnatural speed he can muster. The slippery floors didn’t even slow him down, showing that he has been on ships at sea more often than not. The captain elbowed Carsten in the face throwing her down onto the floor. Zenai leaned back to barely dodge a stab by the captain’s rapier. The rapier cut up across Zenai’s right side of his face as Zenai turn his head to avoid being skewered through his jaw. He was then tripped by captain who hooks Zenai’s left leg with his own leg. Zenai fell onto the ground as well, splashing into the small pool of water. Lug roared his defiance as the captain ran towards him. Lug was able to bring out his battle axe and charged forward. The captain grabbed the chest by its handles while he went for a slide across the slippery wet floor. As the captain slides towards Lug, Lug brought down his axe in an attempt to cut the captain in half but he just missed him by a hair. In response, the captain used his rapier to cut across his left leg and used the chest as a flail to smash it against Lug’s groin. Lug roared in pain and fell over to his left side. It was all done in a matter of just a few seconds.

The captain then made his escape through the broken wreckage of ship to the outside world. “After him! By Leg’s only leg, get him!” Carsten shouts an order to all available helpers. Zenai don’t know about the rest but he managed to get himself on his feet and started his pursuit of the captain who slid in between two marble slabs to try and avoid pursuit. Zenai was not to be outdone and went after him. The inside of the wreckage made for an interesting obstacle course. He leaped over wooden beams and ducked under fallen slabs of marble rock. The captain was fast but all Zenai had to do was keep him in sight. The captain was slowed down by the chest we carrying in one hand and a rapier in the other. Zenai also sensed that he was injured somehow but he doesn’t know where exactly. Zenai saw daylight which means they were going outside where Zenai could probably try to outrun him.

The captain jumped out into the open beaches with Zenai in hot pursuit. Now in the open, he drew both his talon swords. Petch! If only he brought a bow to shoot him down but alas, he didn’t have that foresight. Zenai had to chase after his prey the old fashion way and pounce him when he’s close enough. “You two! Guard the wagon and wreckage while we go after that petcher!” Zenai could hear Carsten shouting from behind ordering the two taggers who were still with the wagon and the running footsteps he could hear from behind him indicated that she was catching up to Zenai. They both chased the captain across the beach and they were heading towards Sunberth. If they can’t run him down on the beaches, the city would provide ample hiding places for the captain and they wouldn’t be able to get him there. Carsten also had her long sword out intending to get a swipe at the captain first chance she gets. The captain then suddenly tripped and tumbled. This was their chance to close the distance fast. The captain rolled and jumped back on his feet. The Taggers were about to close in for the kill but the captain saw them coming so he got his rapier out and parried all of the attacks as he rolled.

With two of them, Zenai thought they could easily overwhelm the captain but the captain proved to be a very tough opponent because of his speed and agility. He would attack Carsten with a dozen jabs before switching to Zenai and swinging the chest around to try and bash Carsten away. Now, on Zenai, the captain fired a few swipes at the Guppie, Zenai blocked and parried with his twin talon swords but even with two weapons, Zenai found it difficult just to parry and block the captain’s only weapon. He had an unnatural speed about him and Zenai suspected that he knew how to flux like Eridanus. Zenai wasn’t able to counter one attack and the captain rapier cut across Zenai’s abdomen but Zenai jumped back and only the tip of the blade made a superficial cut across his armor. He jumped at the captain and tried to do a double-sword power attack but the captain countered it by swinging the chest at him. Unable and unwilling to block the chest with his own swords, Zenai stopped and ducked under the swing. He got back up to attack him but he saw the rapier already going for him and Zenai had to block it with his talon swords. The rapier traded sparks with the talon swords as it cuts across them. The captain twirled again; bringing the chest back against Zenai who then ducked under it again. Zenai hoped Bob and Eridanus would come over and help them out. Zenai have a feeling that this opponent is needed to be outnumbered to even the odds.

As Bob appeared in his moronic get-up and obviously false declaration, Eri's mouth gaped open as he stared at the comical sight, unsure if he should laugh or smack his own head to see if he was dreaming. If it were the latter, it would be a very sad day for the Vantha to be hallucinating about an insane midget who clearly had a sense of humour. It was unfortunate that this humour did not appear at a good timing for they were in the middle of an extremely tense situation.

Before Eri could say anything, the captain dashed forward towards Zenai with unnatural speed, and he engaged in a melee with the rest of Zenai's comrades, dispatching most of them quickly before Eri could even react. This man was ridiculously fast, and Eri wondered if he was using Flux like him or was his physical condition simply at its prime. The captain reappeared outside the wreckage, this time with the chest in his hand and he dashed away towards the city, with Zenai in hot pursuit.

Eri swore, for his attempts at trying to reconcile this situation without physical conflict had apparently flopped, possibly due to Bob's ill timing, and he ran after the captain as well, along with Zenai and another comrade of his. After the taggers closed in, the captain drew his rapier once more and launched a flurry of strikes so fast that the steel simply flashed in the air, and it was all Zenai and Carsten could do to avoid being skewered.

Eri watched in some sense of awe as the captain handled both taggers as well as both of Zenai's blades with a single rapier, using the chest as a weapon if need be. As he closed the distance between them, he sighed and drew his blades, not wanting to kill the possibly innocent Captain, but also not wanting to see his friend getting skewered by the paranoid man. There should be a way to end this without anyone dying, and he was intent on seeing this through properly. No doubt he would have to deal with the other tagger if she got too blood-thirsty. He hoped that Zenai would help him in this regard.

For now, it was time to throw his lot into the fray, and Eri attacked the captain from a different direction. The captain found himself surrounded unfavorably, and he seemed to mutter curses, before spinning around to meet Eri's attacks in a dazzling display of speed. Eri swore, parrying the attacks just in time to avoid being decapitated as the captain spun around to counter Zenai's attacks. It was a ridiculous situation, a three on one with 5 blades against one and yet the combat odds seem equal.

The scavengers already stopped their looting and began to stare at the fight, some of them awe-struck while an enterprising few already collecting bets regarding the outcome of the fight. Eri did not want to drag this, and he swore again as he desperately blocked the lightning fast jabs of the captain's rapier, rolling and sidestepping several times when his blades were not fast enough to parry the incoming steel.

He lunged backwards to give himself some space, and drew the djed deep inside his body. While his friend kept the captain occupied, he quickly drew up the map of the djed streams within him and began his improvised incantation to augment the upper torso of his body so that he would have the strength to wield his blades fast enough to meet the captain's strikes. As he finished the incantation, he grinned with satisfaction as he felt his upper torso filling up with vitality, and he stepped back into the fray, swinging his blades at the captain.

The captain seemed surprise at the sudden increase of speed of Eri's attacks, and for the first time he dodged instead, side stepping out of the circle such that he made Eri in between him and the two taggers.

"Surround him!" Eri cried to the other two, and he battled the man, and the captain did not seem pleased when Eri's augmented strength allowed him to match his speed comfortably, and the Vantha began to make advances towards the sea-farer, his dual blades swinging through the air at an unnatural speed not unlike the captain's rapid-fire succession of thrusts from his rapier.
NOTICE: I am currently mostly inactive til August. As such, guild activities are temporarily halted (watch out for major revamps, changes and organizations when I'm back in full force). Any activity with Eri will be rather slow as well, but I am slowly readjusting back to "Mizahar life", so to speak, so do PM me if we have a thread that I left hanging and we'll talk.

Trying his best to recover from this humiliating spectacle, Bob continued trying to spit out the saliva until it was all out and on the ground and turned back to the real captain posing in triumph while he laughed "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Pointing to the captain with his cane he wanted to just ask the man to give up but the words which came from his mouth was "we are going to send you to the Black unless you know what is good for you!" Black for anyone who had lived in or near the Suvan like Zeltiva refers to the ruthless Captain Black and to invoke his name was a threat worse than death. The only reason why Bob knew this was because once when he beat a sailor in a game the sad fool cursed with the name and was pummeled by the others almost immediately out of fear. "So..." Bob asked hoping that the captain will take the hint. "What will it be?"

He was hoping that the name would get the same reaction as the rest of the terrified sailors but then...the captain attacked Zenai and his group to make at the chest. Bob could only imagine that it had to have something good for everyone to fight over and drew his own sword to try and scare the captain off with the threat of having to fight an equal saying that "not even a king's bounty ca- Yikes!" leaping out of the way of the man lugging a heavy chest and still managed to fight his way through. No way Bob was going to get in the way of that, not even if he was a real captain. This was up to the rest of his "crew" and when he got up he saw them already giving the chase. "Go you accursed scallywags and make sure this petcher walks the plank with sharks who eat sharks who eat sharks!" and then Bob was all alone at least until Jinsen finally made his way to him. Because it took sooooooo long Bob told it that "you are going to swab the decks for a season!" even if it was his own fault for forgetting to untie the dog that it had to waste time chewing through the rope.

Should Bob follow them? Things already had gotten pretty messy. "No" he told Jinsen "the captain never has to get his hands dirty, but..." Looking around Bob could see there was actually nowhere else to go but deeper. There might be something better than a stupid chest he would have to share but Zenai might need help. Decisions, decisions... Then he noticed where he saw the captain. No wonder he was able to know it was the captain as soon as he walked in instead of having to make out the rest of the people. The hole in the ship he came from had sunlight shining through to give him a special effect. "Next time I make an entrance Jinsen, I am going to do it the captain's style but now it is time for an exit" pointing his cane straight to the hole where the dog quickly went to after getting a little stir crazy being alone in the ship followed by Bob who climbed up a nicely placed bookcase.

At the top Bob took out his trusty captain's spyglass and looked through it so "we can assess the situation like a boss." However the stupid noob had to waste time because he did not even bother looking for a specific area first so he wasted time. Enough time for most of the party to get out of the ship while he was looking at other scavengers and nearly forgetting his purpose when he saw some crates with real valuables. "Now why didn't I find something like that..." until the spyglass reached the scene of the fight. "Do they really need help First Mate?" They got him horribly outnumbered but their goal was not to defeat the captain but to get that chest. Walking down the side of the ship again using the holes to help him get down Bob made his way to the fight telling Jinsen that "once we get that chest, I am getting you a costume of your own." Instead of concentrating on Jinsen he should have looked at where he was putting his foot because he missed a hole and slipped down into the water just as he was about to reach the bottom.

Recovering, Bob ran to the fight with Jinsen close behind. He even ignored all the betting going on because that was just small time compared to what he could be getting. "If you want to win, I wouldn't put my money on that fake captain." After that he circled around the "fake"captain keeping his distance until he was right behind him and took a crouch so that his small body will be made even more smaller and unnoticeable. "Alright Jinsen...when I run you better keep up..." Taking his time Bob waited until the captain's attention was fully on the fight and off the chest. Zenai might was some help with the fight but Bob wanted the chest because it will make him the heroic Captain Barton of the Bay. Once he had his chance he will charge, try and wrestle the chest from the captain and take off at another direction announcing to all the other gamblers that they are "losers!" and that "Zenai! I better be getting a share of the booty for helping you liberate it!" Unfortunately things do not work out as planned and the chest fell on the sand with a "THUNK!" alerting the captain of Bob if he had not already known about it.

"Parley?" Bob asked letting go off the chest and backing away slowly before taking a quick jump back to avoid a bewildered captain's attack? Alright, swords work too and Bob held his one up to threaten the captain long enough for Bob to keep his distance. Jinsen suddenly came up beside him and Bob asked it "where the petch were you? You will be scrubbing decks for seasons if I get out of this!"

[Baroque Bay] Salvaging the Future (Open)

The captain matched Eridanus’s own speed and agility, with blade for blade. It was a spectacle not to be missed; two mortal seemingly fighting as if they were the gods of war themselves. Though Eridanus had two long swords with him, the captain was obviously more experienced and skilled with his own rapier. Despite the Vantha’s increase in speed and wielding two weapons, the captain keep him on his toes by throwing stabs and swinging slashes at Eridanus. The swordsman blocked a slash against his left and parried a stab against his right. He then in turn returned the favor; fired off his own sets of attacks but the captain mostly dodged and evaded Eridanus’s strikes while parrying and blocking a few when unable to use get out of the way. The captain parried a blow and twirled around to swung the chest against Eridanus who ducked under it. From the corner of his left eye, he saw a flash of steel and brought his two long swords to parry the captain’s stab. Eridanus could felt the captain’s augmented strength twisting at Eridanu’s long sword in an attempt to disarm him. However, Eridanus pulled out before the captain successfully disarmed him and would have left Eridanus defenseless.

While Eridanus pins the captain down, Carsten and Zenai circles around to cut off whatever escape routes and to fight at the captain’s blind spots. Carsten went for a wide slash against the captain but he quickly faced the group leader and swung the chest at Eridanus so he would back off. Morgan Stanley brought his blade about and blocked Carsten’s blow. Not willing to waste time, he withdrew his sword and whacks at Carsten’s long sword with the strength you would suspect a flux-user to have. The Zeltivan captain would have pressed on to strike a killing blow at Carsten’s exposed defenses but Zenai came in from behind with both blades coming down hard. As if having eyes on the back on his head, the captain spins around to face Zenai and dodged the attack. Zenai then turns his blade to strike at the captain’s right but his talon swords were met by the captain’s rapier. The captain swung the chest at Zenai again who backed off again, dodging the heavy chest that would have fractured his skull. To an ordinary person, the entire scene would have looked like an all-out attack by all three swordsmen at the captain all at the same time and the captain himself would have just a blur in the air.

The captain may have kept them at bay but what he didn’t expect or notice was the short man circling him for an opportunity to rob him of his chest. He stick to the cheering crowd would veil his movements and then he strikes. Bob went for the chest while the captain was busy trading steel for steel with the rest. The midget grabbed onto chest while negotiating with Zenai on the spot. "Zenai! I better be getting a share of the booty for helping you liberate it!" The captain felt his hand had lost its grip on the chest and the chest was on in Bob’s possession. However, the chest itself proved itself too heavy and Bob had dropped it on the ground. He backed off, not so willing to face an opponent who can face off three much-more-competent-at-combat-than-Bob-himself fighters. Bob wanted to parley with the captain and his response was to spit at Bob’s face. He turned back to face the three fighters and fired off a flurry of super-fast stabs to keep them at a distance while he goes for the chest itself. We also fired off a stab against Bob who barely evade it. Now with the midget out of the way, there was an opening for the captain to run through and escape. He grabbed the chest before sprinting off again.

The captain would have a clear path to Sunberth but the crowd of scavengers booed and hissed as they may find their bets invalid on the account of one of the fighters running off. Several of those who betted on the captain ran after or tried to block his path so he would force to continue his fight against Zenai and his comrades. The captain responded by stabbing one in the lungs and slicing off the head of another which forced all of them to back off but a couple, who betted on Zenai and the rest, took the opportunity to cripple the captain by stabbing at him with their assortment of daggers and knives. Whether the captain was disorientated from being swarmed at or that his suspected injuries and use of flux have put too much pressure on his bodies, Morgan Stanley was not able to counter one of the scavengers’ stabs at his left leg. The Zeltivan cried out in pain and the rusty dagger was plunged into the muscle and bone of his left leg. He dropped to one knee and gave his attacker a murderous look. He swung his rapier to decapitate the perpetrator but it was obvious he didn’t use the speed he had when he fought Zenai and his comrades. The scavenger dodged and backed off.

Carsten recovered and got up from the sandy ground then assessed the situation. “Zenai and whoever you petchers are, I want the captain alive so beat the sea-shyke to a pulp. We will be bringing him and that chest before Old Legs.” Zenai nodded and went to keep the captain distracted while his other two friends would flank the captain and jump him. The Tagger charged the captain and brought his blades down upon the injured Zeltivan. The captain was breathing hard, a sign that he has overexerted himself. He barely brought the rapier to block Zenai’s attack. He lets go off the chest so he could wield his rapier with his two hands to effectively hold off Zenai’s swords. “Bob, grab the chest before those scavengers get their grimy hands on it. Eridanus, help me subdue this fellow.” It wouldn’t matter if the captain knew what they were doing. He was on his last leg and Zenai intends to finish him off. Hopefully, Bob keeps the scavenger off that chest and guards it while Zenai and Eridanus would try to relief the captain of his rapier and hold him down. Zenai also called on Carsten to get some rope to tie him up.

Eri cursed as he found the captain matching him for speed. The captain was either far superior in his grasp of the blade, or he was using flux in a more superior capacity than Eri. Either way he was far superior to him, and the Vantha was quite highly annoyed as he tried to gain ground, but yet also avoid getting decapitated by the Zeltivan. Fortunately, he had Zenai and his companion come to his aid, and together they pressed against the captain's defence, though he seemed to be defending against all three of them pretty well.

Suddenly, there was a flash of movement, and the captain found his precious cargo missing as Bob sneakily stole the chest, running away but stumbling and falling quite embarrassingly. The captain recovered quickly from his temporary blunder and he tried to escape, but the forming crowd trying to keep the Zeltivan in the area for they did not want to lose their bets unnecessarily. The captain's violent response helped to make space, and as the sailor was being bogged down by the crowd Eri had been fast approaching the sailor, intending to take him down.

Eri saw someone stab the captain in the left leg, and he quickly took advantage of the situation, moving forward to attack. He could already feel his djed draining steadily from his continued upkeep of flux, and he wanted to end this quickly before he had to shut down his flow of djed. Doing so would most certainly ensure his defeat, and so he had to press the advantage while he still had it. Zenai quickly gave some instructions, and Eri sidestepped the captain so that he and Zenai could catch the sailor in a pincer attack. He timed his attack together with Zenai, two long swords and two talon swords clashing down on the captain, instead of giving the man a chance to alternatively parry their blades. He followed Zenai's timing, making sure that every slash and thrust is replicated with precision at the exact same time to overwhelm the man.

He was similar to Zenai's thought in capturing the man alive, for he had many questions for the sailor and honestly speaking he was more interested in getting to the bottom of this mystery. He was an inquisitive person like that.

[Baroque Bay] Salvaging the Future (Open)

Postby Paul Ares on November 18th, 2011, 8:32 am

Ares meandered slowly along the coastline, contemplating his next move. At times like these he needed silence and tranquility to think clearly, he had no intention of leaving sunberth, but being new, in a place such as this was not easy. Even harder was placing trust in someone from sunberth, he had only been in sunberth for a week now, yet he had seen more violence and deceit here than he had ever seen before. Perhaps he should turn to lawlessness also... It seemed the only way to survive here.

The soft sand felt great and relaxing as his broad stygian paws sank into the damp earth and the fine granules fared up in between his padded digits. His thoughts turned inward once more. This place couldn't possibly be that bad, it had it's fau- his thoughts were abruptly interrupted as he caught the reek of death. The poignant smell of decay hung about the morning breeze, weighing it down and making it almost digestible to his feline senses. Ahead of Ares stood a protruding cliff face, cutting off his view further down the beach. Ares was sure that the source of the stench lay just beyond that cliff. He livened his pace to a brisk canter and as he reached the cliff face, he leaped up on the first slippery rock, then onto the next, and to the next until he reached the top of the cliff face.

His obsidian figure cut a fearsome silhouette, as he looked down at the carnage spread across the beach below. There lay countless corpses and various goods and debris scattered along the coast. There had been a shipwreck, seemed to him that it was a merchant ship. He saw people scavenging for valuables washed ashore from the wreck. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity for him to gain whatever is to be gained from going down there into that repelling stench. But first, he reared back as he heaved in a large breath of air, then pushing his chest out he let off a great roar, the force of which had him stretching his thick neck forward to it's limits.

As if he declared," Here I come!" To all the humanoid figures on the sands below him, he leapt down from rock to rock and landed silently on the beach. Slowly he began to pace toward the wrecked ship. Powerful yet weary, the most dangerous place would be the wreck he's heading for, yet therefore, his logic told him it would also be the most rewarding. As he neared the shipwreck he could hear the mad demands of an unseen person, a low growl emitted from his chest as he slowed his pace and lowered his figure to the ground as he attempted to stalk closer to the large hole in the side of the boat unseen.

It seemed his ears were playing tricks on him, perhaps echoes of the fighting up on the beach. Ares had decided to climb into the wreck, digging his claws into the wooden. Panels, he lurched up into the side of the wreck. Perhaps he would be able to find something usefull here while the masses fought over their spoils.

He had not been in a ship before, and the deeper he delved into the corpse of the once glorious merchant ship, the more he felt an eerie presence surrounding him. He decided to be quick about his bussiness and get out of there. He moved from cabin to cabin, merely scanning over the scattered belongings of the dead men whom once pain service on board.in one cabin in particular He saw several items of interest and with a blinding swirl of light the jet lion dissapeared and in it's place stood a naked, well built man, with a black crop of hair cascading to his shoulders and. Those same golden eyes of the lion.

He paced to an upturned trunk at the base of one of the bunk beds and opened it, inside he found a leather great coat and some breecheshe decided on the greatcoat, further rummaging through the strewn belonging, earned him a rapier still sheethed and some dried meats. He quickly gulped down the dried meat, put on the coat and buckled the sheath around his waist. "Now" he proceeded out of the cabin into the next, there he found a pair of leather gauntlets with steel tipped knuckles, he pulled them on to his large hands, they felt a bit tight, but they would stretch...now he was satisfied. The rapier and sheath were of good quality craftmanship and might earn him a few mizas.

He unbuckled the rapier's sheath and took off the coat, looking for some sort of storage method, He grabbed the bedding belonging to one of the beds and layed it out before him, thereon he layed his goods and then he folded it closed, he looked about and found a leather string with which he tied the parcel closed. There after he reverted back to his true form lion in a mirage of light, took the bedding into his jaws and bounded off at speed. When he reached the beach again, it seemed the fighting had subdued. Taking a look around him for a minute he tried to capture this morbid scene before speeding off to the cliff from whence he came. It seemed he might make it here after all.

[[OOC: Sorry if my posts are not that good. It's my first post of roleplay!]]
Finesse was not sleeping well that day. She was having nightmares once again, and needed to get out of the small room that she was residing in for the time being. The small cottage that was in the outskirts of Sunberth had gotten just too empty for the zith at the moment, and she head out into the day. This wasn't an ideal choice and gave her a chance to either gain more exhaustion to pass out and sleep easier, or a reason to get back into the house and sleep.

The Zith woman flew out to the coast, settling down in a tree far off from a small blob of shapes that she could only imagine were people. She rest herself on a tree branch, staring down, trying to figure out whatever was going on. The sleepless female's sight had been littered with blurs and shapes that she couldn't figure out due to the light. Eventually she closed her eyes, and rest her head against the tree listening in on the situation down below. Her sensative ears picked up the various clangs and clashes of swords being struck together. Soon thereafter one of the people shouted out about owing payment to this that and the other entity, of which the Zith woman knew nothing of.

After a few minutes of listening, she had wondered what exactly they were owing each other before. It was day, however, and the creature of the night would be virtually defenseless outside of the leaves and shadows that kept her from practically going blind. She silently damned her past in spite, and curled up in the upper regions of the tree. Her colors broke up the outline of her tiny body within the leaves, though she was still clear to the eye if one were but a stone's throw away from the tree. The huntress would wait until it got dark in order for her to head down and see what had been going on. She hoped that no one else really gave her trouble, regardless of the time it was.
We are but dust in the wind.

"Ewww!" what was that? This captain had no manners at all. Only pirates would do something as uncouth as spitting at someone's face when they were willing to negotiate at a weaker position. Bob could have tried talking about letting the captain get away with his chest right Zenai and Eridanus are in the perfect position to beat him to death, or...halfway to death as Zenai's lady friend asked for but all Bob could do when he saw the captain cocking his head and moving his mouth was tilt his head forward for his lovely captain's hat to block the spit. While getting the impressive clothes from a dead man would require a good washing to get the dead man's smell off, Bob was hoping to at least wait for a few days to break it in. Now he had to wash it properly because there was no telling if some of the crazy from the captain's spit is contagious. What else would you call a man who dares to continue a fight in which "you are horribly outnumbered you scallywag! Just surrender and we will throw you into the gallows without any kelp beer instead of forcing you to walk the plank!" Another good offer from the benevolent Captain Barton ignored when the captain tried to make off with the chest again.

Even if the other captain did not want to have anything to do with Captain Barton's offer, other people have heard it. His generosity reached into the heartless Sunberth people and expanded into a brand new heart for joining his crew which he should start shortly. Bob saw a small group splintering off the main crowd to try and cut the captain off and he knew that he should not disappoint them. To motivate them he told them "good job boys! You will all have a part in my crew when you take down that imposter!" which was the best reward they wanted. It even caused more people to want to join him. Another person a distance away that Bob did not notice earlier gave an excited declaration that he was going to join and Bob looked around to see the one who would become his first mate to replace Jinsen. It was only by the rocks falling down the cliff that Bob was able to spot the man when he followed their movements back to the source. This took away Bob's attention from the rest of his new members for the precious time of his instruction they needed but even without it they already took down the fake captain.

This group was very promising, a lot more than Zenai's woman because she just said the wrong things to try and get Bob to work. "I am no petcher you quean, I am Captain Barton and you best remember that when I come for your booty" tipping his hat slightly towards her and then drawing out his sword as he ran towards the chest because as he told her in the deepest, manliest pirate voice he could "first, I need to get that chest to pretty you up later." Bob was not the only one with the same idea because with its protector gone, the group who was fighting off the captain wanted their prize. Bob just could not run fast well enough to make good time and told Jinsen as he pointed to the chest "that is mine. Guard it!" or if the dog failed to understand it as usual, "food! And those other dogs want to take it from you." It was the way Bob has been training Jinsen for as long as he could remember because the dog just could not learn his commands properly. He decided the best way to go with it is to try a conversation with some body language in hopes the dog would understand until he became skilled enough.

Jinsen leaped into action with savage ferocity biting into one of the scavenger's bottom with the rest backing away crying out about but "my dog is not diseased you shykes!" Bob protested and if these fools had the nerve to say this they had no right being a part of his crew. Bob ran right at the one Jinsen had calling his dog "off!" There was no time for mistakes here because his sword was already flying in a slice which has been waiting to continue on his run so he decided to forget his rules about handling Jinsen, the animals and his friends this time because as he found out, trust with friends and animals alike cannot be gained when you hypnotize them but now he had no choice and he commanded for "Jinsen, off!" his words were so full of djed which gave the dog one very simple suggestion that he knew motivates the dog very effectively. "That man does not taste good and he will get you sick if you continue" and it got off in time for Bob to slice the scavenger at the right leg with his sword and smash the cane into the opposite side of his head causing him to trip and fall to the side.

It gave Bob enough time to take his position at the chest posing with one foot on it like a boss with Jinsen standing guard beside him but it did not dissuade the rest of the scavengers. It was not because of Bob's now bleeding mouth yet again since the red pirate coat would hide everything but because of the way the pair looked. The scavengers came on trying to get the two seemingly weaklings away from the chest but Bob did a slice at one cutting him at the chest while he gave a thrust towards the head of another which can trying to get him at the other side. Fortunately he already told Jinsen to "cover me" and when another tried to sneak up to him from a blind spot the dog leaped into an attack. The fact that the two of them were more capable than they seemed forced the scavengers to back off a safe distance and Bob with much satisfaction send a thrust of his sword towards the legs of the one he was defending himself against and a bat of his cane towards the one who attacked him earlier. Satisfied he held his weapons victoriously telling them to "come back when you get your sealegs" but he dropped the cane when he heard one of them saying that they should charge the shrimp and his mutt all at once.

Did Bob drop his weapon out of fear? Not quite. He already proved that he and Jinsen made quite a threat and he knew that Zenai's girlfriend had more friends that are guarding their cart a little bit away. No, tucking his sword under his arm, Bob reached into his coat telling the scavengers to "give me a few moments please." He was so polite asking please but did they care? no, they took the opportunity to charge straight for him. "Stay Jinsen, stay!" he said sternly and the tone of his voice told the dog to obey as much as it's instincts would tell it to attack. Bob pulled his hand out of the coat in a quick whipping motion lashing out his...whip. Who would have thought it? It smashed into the scavenger to his side and it was so deep he felt that the whip would escape him unless he gripped it tighter. Pulling on impact he sent the whip the opposite direction hitting all the other scavengers one by one with satisfying squeals of pain on each hit until it reached the last one behind him. "Do you filths want more? I don't mind whipping you into shape you know." he said bringing the whip back to him and holding on to the other end as he waited.
