[Rice Patties]Three-Blades Vs A Pointy Piece of Metal [Nira]

Once again Nira'lia and Ball are training, this time... With weapons.

Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

The Rice Paddies

Ball forced his mount to stop just in front of Nira'lia, it was a funny sight seeing a round ball of clay sitting on top of a fluffy dog.

“Yu Knee.Da.Ter.An.Tu.Ser.Vi.Va.” ['You need training to survive.] Ball nodded, well more of rolled, before he shifted his round figure and his mouth tore open once more in front of Nira.

“We Ter.An. Yu. Wid. Su.Vay. Me. Wid. Th.Or.Na..” ['We train. You with suvai. Me with Thorn.']Ball nodded, and held up his little pointed piece of metal that he just ca lled 'Thorn'. Once he made that clear he lowered Thorn and looked around, “Jus.Ta.Knee.Da.Sp.Ot.Ta.Tu. Ter.An.” ['Just need spot to train.']

The squired pycon wasn't just using this training attempt to get better with Thorn, it would help, but it allowed Ball to have a reason to keep Nira in his sights at all times, after all... That is what Blue Pycon wanted him to do... \

“Pur.Tee.La.Dee.Py.Con. Yu. No. Dis. Pla.Ca? ['Pretty Lady Pycon, you know this place?'] Ball paused, “Buh.Ta.We.Ter.An.Fur.Sa.Ta.” ['But, we train first.']

Ball turned position and motioned for Nira to follow as both him and the dog started down a trail, it was obvious he didn't know where he was going yet. After several minutes Ball managed to locate a large area of what appeared to be a marsh or swamp area... And to be honest, it was a set of rice patties.

“Dis.Puh.La.Ca.Will.Du.” ['This place will do.'] Ball nodded. Dismounting from his mount by rolling down it's side Ball looked up at Nira.

EDITMade a few changes, that had to be made in case Imass doesn't survive his match in Sahova

As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

[Rice Patties]Three-Blades Vs A Pointy Piece of Metal [Nira]

The rice paddies were a nice site. Similar to the rest of Mura, it was quiet and peaceful. Those who tended to it had already gone for the day, and the sun was just about to set. Nira’lia couldn’t even remember what led her here, but she was sitting underneath a tree and whistling to herself. Her bag was sitting on the grass, filled with a skin of water and her suvai. The rest of her belongings were back in the inn.

That was when Ball arrived. She sat up straight and looked at the Pycon. Her eyes squinted as she fought to understand his words. Nira’lia had known Ball for some time now, but it was still difficult to make out his words. Fortunately, she could mostly bring out most words and know the gist of what he was saying.

Suvai. Train. And he was pointing at the miniature weapon that he held with him.

“Why should we train? We just came back from a lot of turmoil… this should be a time to relax…” she said in a soft voice. However, she followed the Pycon, trailing behind him by a few steps. The only reason she brought the suvai with her to many places was because she preferred to be near it. It seemed ridiculous especially in a place such as Mura, but that was how she felt at the moment. Sahova and its waters had changed her outlook about safety.

They stopped by a set of rice patties. Nira’lia avoided stepping on the rice. Instead, she stood by the dirt road that separated the patties. The Konti didn’t want to damage the crops.

“Alright, alright…” she said reluctantly.

‘I could probably use some training, anyway…’

The Konti rummaged in her bag and brought out the suvai. The weapon’s blades were tightly wrapped in cloth. She had done that to avoid any accidents from its edges.

She tossed the bag to the side of the road. Before they started, she pointed towards the suvai. “We don’t have Eridanus to shield and blunt the edges this time. You will be paralyzed if they hit you, so I’ll keep the cloth here, alright?”

Ball nodded to her comment about the blades of the Suvai and readied himself, he had nothing to cover the tip of Thorn so he paused. Set his blade down, “Wa.Un. Moe.Men.Ta.” ['One moment.'] He rolled behind his dog, who was laying down. Retching sounds could be heard followed by the trickling sound of coin and then finally the sound of finding what he was looking for came.

Ball came rolling out from behind his mount with a strip of fabric that appeared to be from a shirt of sorts. The pycon tried his best to tie it around the tip of Thorn in a half managed knot. Once tied in place Ball picked up his weapon and looked up at Nira, “Yu.Ne.Vah.No. Wen. Pee.Pol. Wan.Ta. Hu.Ur.Ta. Yu.” ['You never know when people want to hurt you.']

Ball held his weapon in a semi-ready position, it was already getting heavy, the pycon hadn't had a whole lot of training with it. “Yu.Sta.Ar.Ta.” ['You start.']

The Konti smiled and nodded at the pycon. She tested the suvai’s weight in her hands, passing it back and forth. The cloth was not the best kind of barrier, and she knew that if she put in too much force and was not careful, it could easily slice through and put him in danger.

She had to hold back. This was a training match but the weapons were unsafe. The Konti just hoped he had the same thoughts in mind. His blade was so much smaller but it looked menacing all the same.

“Alright…” she whispered.

Nira’lia took a careful stance, one that she had learned before. She put her right foot forward and bended her knee slightly. She held the suvai perpendicularly to her body. This was a basic offensive position she had learned before.

Truthfully, she hated being on the offense right from the start. She would have preferred it much more if he had gone first.

Then she charged forward. She ran in careful strides and closed the distance between them. Nira’lia aimed low, towards the smaller creature. She made a sideways strike, aiming for the center of his body.

Ball did the only thing he could think of at this current moment. Heeding Nira's warning in case the cloth wasn't in a good position he jumped. The pycon nearly lost his little lance that Imass had given him, but that was quickly saved by his tentacle tightening around it.

The Pycon landed with a thud against the ground just as the suvai whooshed past him, he wasn't quite sure if he could launch an attack with Thorn against Nira and so he kept himself placed in a rather defensive position. The point hovering just inches off the ground up towards Nira.

Screw it. Just training. Any pretense that Ball was going to hurt Nira in this session melted from his mind as he leap towards Nira, Thorn rushing through the air like a wedge through a block of wood before Ball had the common sense of pulling back on his initial force behind it and tried his best to aim for a non-vital place, like her upper leg.

It wasn't smart of Imass to have trained Ball to only attack vital spots, but he knew he didn't want to hurt Nira.

Pretty Lady must not get hurt by me or Thorn.

‘Oh!’

Ball was much smaller than her, and in effect, much faster. However, that also meant that his swinging range was not that wide. Wherever his body would be, it was not difficult to predict the range of where his attack would be.

‘But he’s fast!’ she reiterated in her mind.

Her suvai had missed him, and he answered with an attack of his own. The lance came towards her upper leg, and in a panic, she almost lost her balance. With wide eyes, she pivoted as quickly as she could. She felt the Pycon rush past her, missing her by only a very short distance. She shivered at the thought of such a weapon piercing through her skin.

The Pycon went past her, and there was nothing to halt him—and unless he had a way to do so, he would not be able to stop himself mid-air. Nira’lia followed his back with another swing of the suvai.

Ball wasn't entirely shocked to see himself going past Nira, unfortunately though for him he had no idea she had an attack coming at him from behind. Fortunately for Nira though, the attack was a solid contact and Ball's projected arc just got longer as he was pushed farther into the air and went soaring some more.

Finally when the pycon finally did land, in the middle of the patties, he pushed himself out of the gunk, shook like a dog spraying the mud all over the place and then proceeded to close the gap between him and the Konti once again. It took the squid like pycon a few minutes to get where he could attack Nira again and once in position the pycon just simply thrusted his little lance forward, it was a slow moving thrust simply because it was obvious Ball didn't really understand how to use the weapon.

As Ball fell into the mud, Nira’lia backed away quickly. With swift strides, she stepped away and clutched her weapon to her chest. At the same time, she wondered what he would do next. When he finally made his move, she held the suvai from her body. It was in an upright position and an arm’s length away from her torso.

The Pycon’s thrust was not a quick one, and Nira’lia had not much trouble following it with her eyes. However, her problem rested on how to react. The ways to defend herself with the suvai were muddled in her mind, and as a novice, she fought to remember them as quickly as possible.

In an impulsive action, she decided to thrust weapon forward in the exact same way that he did. Her suvai was not the biggest of weapons, but it was certainly larger than Thorn. Aside from that, she had panicked, afraid that she would not be able to react in time. Consequently, she blocked his weapon while mimicking his move, most likely causing the blades to clash together.

[Rice Patties]Three-Blades Vs A Pointy Piece of Metal [Nira]

Postby Ball on February 11th, 2013, 2:03 pm

Ball felt the three-bladed metal connect with Thorn, it wasn't surprising to find that Ball dropped his lance. And within an impulse to defend himself, maybe it was training or experience, but regardless... He was physically without a solid weapon, but he was a weapon...

The dropping of Thorn gave Ball an advantage now, and one that he was sure Nira'lia remembered well enough. He was small, flexible, and quite fast. Before Thorn even finished dropping and settling into the wet ground Ball had already pushed himself off of the ground towards Nira'lia's weapon holding hand, he was aiming to disarm her, he was weaponless, and those blades were dangerous to him... Covered in a cloth or otherwise. They hurt, and he wasn't going to allow her to use him like he was part of some child's gamebaseball ;) again. Once he arched over the weapon the squired pycon shifted his center of gravity that he would drop.

… And drop he did... Closing the gap wasn't too difficult to do, he was literally just inches above her hand. The impact of him hitting her hand should be enough to drop the suvai, then it was once again an even match... Well, sort of... Ball had a feeling he was far more capable to defending and attacking in a weaponless state than Pretty Lady Pycon was.

The pycon’s weapon fell to the ground, giving a soft sound as it fell on the dirt. Nira’lia was caught off-guard as she assumed that they would halt the practice. Her hands slacked slightly as she weakened her hold on her suvai, and she was oblivious to the fact that Ball was already planning his next move.

Ball fell on her hand, the impact of him slamming against her startling. “O-ow!” she said involuntarily, and the suvai easily fell from her hand. Just like his weapon, hers fell on the ground. Nira’lia went red with embarrassment—she had let her guard down completely, and she had been disarmed without a second though.

Fine, perhaps the fight wasn’t over.

She pulled her hand towards her body and nursed it as she backed away from the pycon. Nira’lia was slightly annoyed, the back of her hand stung and she was sure it would bruise later on. Without really thinking, she balled the pained hand into a fist and aimed to punch at Ball.
