"I used knives and daggers a lot when I was a kid. Nowadays, it's just a great backup for a backup. I'm not ambidextrous, but I do know the basics of dual wielding." He pointed at the two short swords."I think it's time to take a break, after that I will run you through the basics of wielding a katana, if you wish."

He started eying the barracks and the training grounds looking for the storehouse where the Knights kept their wooden training weapons. "Just so you know, the training weapons are always heavier than the real deal, and on top of that, the real swords are always custom-made. It has to be proportional to your body to feel like your sword."

He walked over to the pile, and dropped off the last of the hard leather he was wearing. He gave a quick check to the blades, and put it all back within his line of sight.

"Swordsmen, or swordswomen in your case, aren't born, they are made." He said with a smirk, giving a slight chuckle. "That was the first thing my master told me when he began teaching me."

[Training]Center of Balance(Fade)

Her eyes widened at the prospect of handling a sword, she smiled and said “First lesson, get them with the pointy edge”

She thought back and said “I heard some men talking about swords and stuff…They were talking about the merits of the hand-and- a-half sword. They said it was the best because it was all offensive, I guess that means that you can use everything in combat even the hilt…” She trailed off racking her brain for more about that type of sword, she couldn’t remember anything else.

“Nobody is born anything I guess, apart from status in society which affects us immediately. We are all moulded into something…” Fade smiled at what she had said, moulded what a fantastic word.

"And you should do those stretches whenever you have time, and even when you do normal things try to stretch while doing them. Like when you chop vegetables for instance put your leg on the table and stretch.
Remember that every second you relax your muscles are getting shorter, and don’t eat much salt."

"Status is unimportant. It's nothing more than a shell that people will try to constrict one another with. I believe that status is something that allows one to put another down. And before I proceed, I never joined the Syliran Knights for the glamor. I did it because meeting my mentor was the second good thing that ever happened to me." Wys said.

"Anyways, the theory and philosophy come first. All weapons are different from each other in some way, and thus, they bring different ways of thinking. Basically, the first thing you should always remember, assume that the katana you are holding is sharp enough to go through flesh with very little push. The weapon brings in more cut than longsword, but far less crush." Wys said as he finally found the shed with the training equipment. He wandered off for a minute, bringing two thin arm-long shields and two swords.

"I will teach you how to hold the wooden training sword. It is about seven pounds, it is weighted at the hilt for muscle building. You will try to hit me with it square in the chest by a stab or slash. Don't worry, it's not sharp, I'll be fine. That's what the pair of shields are for." Wys walked over to her handing Fade a better-looking sword out of the pair he brought. "Now, which hand are you more familiar with?" He said with a smirk.

“I think status holds its weight on a person for instance you will never be the same as a Knight who was born and bred among the Sylirian nobility. If you are born a slave you will never think about becoming a painter and you won’t even try, so no slaves become painters. Of course they are always exceptions”

“I prefer writing with my right so right hand it is”
She grasped the sword and touched its blunt edge, it was heavy but she could handle it after all she could support all her body weight on one hand.

She tried to remember the year when two stage fighters had joined the troupe. They invented such magnificent battles which were impractical in reality but splendid to watch. She smiled and raised the sword above her head held it there, one foot behind the other for balance. She had watched their rehearsals carefully in her spare time.
The falcon guard they had called it she looked straight into Wysterns eyes and slashed downwards using gravity to help her blow.

"Right hand on the bottom of the hilt, left hand under the guard!" Wys said as he blocked another strike. He didn't quite expect the hit to come this soon, he barely got the shields on. The girl didn't waste any time. How nostalgic.

"That's the spirit! Pull your hands over your head and the bring it down. To stab, turn it horizontally, level with your chest and thrust." She was wielding that stick like it was weightless. Seven pounds isn't much, but swinging it for a long time isn't easy. The whole thought was that however long one could swing the training sword, one could use the real deal longer. Wys was still learning how to use a shield, most of the time he just rotated his body trying to dodge.

"Put your weight behind it, more pull and push and less drag."

OOC :
OOC Pardon me the falcon guard is not the right word in English that type of guard is called Haukse Bill. I’m studying medieval swordplay with my mate as a hobby from the medieval manual "Il Fiore dei Liberi". I shouldn’t have made such a rash translation without checking.

She adjusted herself as he talked; the training sword felt clumsy in her hands and wavered a bit. She wasn’t getting tired as any acrobat she had an incredible stamina and endurance.

Fade while slashing was lifting one hand away from the hilt just to see how heavy it would be in one hand, it was heavy being a sword intended for two hands.
She did what he said putting more energy in the slashes and stabs.

Fade then paused a split second and positioning the practice sword a bit behind her she slashed up (also called in technical terms Ridoppio Mandritti)

“So, Am I a hopeless case?” Fade said between swings.
A thing had been bugging her she hadnt seen girls in the training grounds, it was unfair she mused. She guessed only a minority of women would be allowed to train as a knight.

Then Fade grinned and lunged to the left quickly passing the sword to her right hand, she did a quick stab.

Wys got distracted by what Fade said right before the thrust that would land square in the forehead. He dropped to his knees, head bent backwards, the wooden blade almost got the skin on his skull, and it did hit his hair as he descended. He quickly looked up, the sword was where his head was a few seconds ago.

"Nobody's a hopeless case. A person is that which he or she makes of herself, beginning matters little." Crow said whilst grunting, trying to get up and avoid another stroke like that. "You have more potential then I did when I started, you almost took an eye out with the last hit. Keep it up."

"You know, you can definitely train in dual wielding these when you get good enough to wield one in a fight." He should have kept his mouth shut, Fade got him right on the shoulder just as he said that. It wasn't a strong swing, but it would be an injury if the weapon was bladed. Maybe it was a good idea to put some armor on. On second thought, this was fine. A few injuries may tell him to lay off the booze for a while.

"Remember, go for the chest."

“I’ve watched many stage fights” She muttered continuing the barrage of heavy blows striking from different places just to experiment the balance and force. “They would shout out when they rehearsed the names of the guards and cuts they were using, it all formed a code so they remembered perfectly what would happen next”

She tried focusing not only on the slashes but also on the hits to make them stronger. She used her gymnast footwork and found it effective. Both sword playing and acrobatics relied heavily on balance, footwork helped to be more stable and steady.

She paused when she hit his shoulder, she was not tired at such but she started to feel the muscles twanging in her lean arms. As an acrobat she was used to going much further than she could cope so the next time she would resist a bit more.

"Feel free to rest at any time. Don't push yourself too hard, you are making great progress." Wys did exactly what his mentor did when teaching him. Land a strike on the chest, then change to a more difficult body part, and make yourself a living target practice. He seemed to have skinned his knee a bit when he fell to the ground in the attempt to dodge.

"The general idea about swordplay is to not think of your moves individually. Think in sequences, think three moves ahead of the one you make now. Put pressure, but keep your composure. That is fundamental to every weapon you would ever wield." Wys said stretching his neck and arms. He was beginning to feel the weights of the shields after he was lifting his body a little while ago.

She acknowledged the compliment with a nod and a smile.

Fade grinned and said “Who said I was tired? It takes much more to tire me Sylirian Knight!”

Planning ahead she paused for a moment. Her mind was used to memory tests, riddles and after all she made up her routines. She struck a blow already shifting ready for another one, she slashed continuously with an obstinacy that only she could have.

After a long series of blows she stopped, her hands ached and she resisted the impulse to drop the practice sword, she voiced the problem “Guess my hands will have to go trough the being raw stage before they harden…” She bit her lip as she flexed her fingers.
