The Final Dawn
Part 5.6 of The Part Of Moving One
Winter 92nd/Spring 1st, 512 AV; Early Hours of Twilight

There was nothing but the cold black sky, little balls of lights scattered throughout to decorate the empty chasm that once had a moon. Ricky sat on the cold moist ground but found no shivers came around, to him he found a state of mentality that blocked out the cold. He had been out here all night thinking of the journey that he and Odis had together, and how that journey had set them on different paths.

Odis was still with Ricky of course but only in spirit, deep down in Ricky's heart the dog still lived on even after death. The memories the two shared were memories that made a lifetime difficult, no, impossible to forget. From the day Ricky saved Odis from the street brats that dared bullied a poor animal to the departure to Syliras. The bear they encountered with Nex, and then finally the sailing across the Suvan Sea. It was a trip he would never forget, and was glad to have shared it along side a dog.

Yet what had happened left a wound deeper than any blade could cut, and now a scar remained upon the healed and mended heart beating in his chest. Time was his ally but Ricky was not alone, in this endeavor he had met many people to help push him along. Many he would always be thankful to, many he would always feel grateful too.

This wasn't a story to be written in books, just a simple tale for the fisherman to tell. For he struggled and fought not against enemies but against himself, all during a time when the city seemed to fall in chaos...

The Final Dawn

Postby Ricky Maze on February 19th, 2013, 7:24 am

In our times of need we look for ways to avoid ourselves, watching as we fall apart as we lose who we are. The things we hold dear vanish from our life and our eyes can only see the darkness ahead, searching for the light that we long to see once again. That light was lost for him, never could he once find its source. In short he began to fall back, and bury his head in the sand. No longer willing to see the truth of the world.

Denial is part of a grief, a part of human nature. When faced with something we cannot comprehend we deny it to the best of our abilities. Whether its a memory, or a feeling, or even a change we all disagree with; we all find ourselves unable to accept. It is in this process of change we all learn to adapt, but the path is long and difficult. Filled with many challenges we must learn of ways to cope, and even if its hard we must learn to count on others...even if we deny that we need them most. In which he did. Ricky denied everything and everyone. He felt that he only had one thinf left, when in truth he was scared to admit there was more.

When we are faced to see reality we close our eyes, hoping to shut out what lies before us. Forced to turn to reality we seek to hide from it, to withdraw into a place where we feel no pain. Yet the pain still followed him. It haunted him like plague soon haunted the city. In a world where the fisherman once saw color, everything had turned to dark.

How do we act when we face reality? How are we suppose to act when all we feel is lost? We deny to ourselves that the truth is real, but even that only gets us so far. In really... We're just stuck. Stuck because of the one thing that has torn us apart, and left our road unclear. What do we do though? Even if our eyes are opened to the truth what then? All we can do is just press on, continue down the broken road and see what lies ahead; and press on he did. Ricky allowed time to carry him forward, unwillingly he was starting to face it. Starting to face the truth, the reality that he wanted to be a nightmare. It was never going to turn away.

Reality becomes difficult to grasp. We feel the agony of truth and wish it a lie, creating a veil between two worlds; the imaginary and the real world. However when we dwell in our imagination for to long, we seek a way out of it. A way out and away from the pain the truth brings, it's then and there we learn; in order to live in reality one must go through pain. That is how the real world works, and so with pain he became stronger. He fell into a deeper part of himself that felt nothing but misery, and in the end it made him stronger.

Sometimes we don't recognize ourselves anymore, we look into the mirror and see someone else. Someone we were never familiar with, someone we knew never existed. Yet we don't know that person is us, because we deny ever reaching that point. Yet for those who have denied so much for so long, they become a part of a fantasy they only they remember. In this particular time it is left up to them; to either live within that fantasy, or to break free and face the reality they hide from. That fantasy shattered like the mirror before him, the image of a broken man in many pieces laid before him. It was the truth... and Ricky couldn't help but feel angry about it.

The Final Dawn

Postby Ricky Maze on February 24th, 2013, 5:46 pm

Anger is another ordeal we have to face, when we all finally begin to face the truth; we become angry. Our emotions grow hotter with each question as to how and why, only to find that those reasons are just what they are. We begin to feel rage and even hate to what had happened, and when we least realize it; that anger can become a danger to ourselves and our closest ones. Already others were experiencing it first hand, Ricky on the other hand didn't notice the damage right away.

Anger is another emotion, and it works just the same as denial does. It causes one to feel rage or bitterness, putting themselves and others down. Some tend to bottle that emotion up to avoid conflict, but that can only stem the tide for so long. Like every other bottled up emotion they all have a limit, a breaking point that must soon be breached. That breaking point approached quickly for Ricky, and the only thing he could do was hide away all the emotion.

As we press on down our wild path we must learn to deal with ourselves, to learn what it is within us that makes us the way we are. It is when we reach this point that we find ourselves halfway down the line, in the long journey we make to move on. Ricky had to learn this, and found that he could count on friends to help.

In lost moments that seem critical we are faced with decisions to make, decisions that not only affect us but those around us as well. It is in moments like these where we must learn what we're truly capable of, and either lose ourselves or find it in us to press on. In the time it mattered most Ricky learned to make the decisions that mattered.

In the event that the storm hits it leaves only a destructive path in its wake, only to die out after the severe damage is done. In times like these we define it as the calm, a time of quiet stillness just waiting to be disturbed. It is here when we must let go, and carry on to the next step in our life. Yet what we find waiting at the end of the calm, becomes even more dangerous then what we have left behind. A storm that has released its ferocity, and subsided into a dormant state; just waiting to release its final wrath.

When the anger has died and we find that we only bring ourselves down further, we come to withdraw into a new state of mind. It is a process to where we think back in our lost moments, wishing for a chance to undo whatever it is that was done. We seek only an answer, a solution as to what could've solved or prevented our problem. Only to find that what we bargain is never enough to lift the veil. Nothing could change what had been done, and Ricky acted rashly upon his ideas.

He believed himself incompetent, incapable to protect what mattered to him most. It tore him apart inside and he couldn't come to rely on everyone else like he wanted, because pride demanded that he play the part of a strong man. This is why he became so angry with himself, and soon he came to feel regret. A earnest to change things, an wish to make everything different.

The Final Dawn

Postby Ricky Maze on February 24th, 2013, 6:06 pm

In dark times we find ourselves lost, a shadow of our former selves. A piece of something we once were, left to put ourselves back to the way we were; yet unable to finish the job as we remain incomplete. It is from then on we seek answers, we find new things that will fill these holes. Just so we can put back together our broken life. Ricky thought he found an answer, but that was just a reason. An idea to keep him moving.

When given a chance to regain a piece of what we lost we become desperate, eager to do what we feel is necessary to gain it. Our mind's incapable of balancing out morality, we seek for a tangible reality where we can thrive. However it is in these moments we can become someone, whether that someone is truly us or not. He lost himself of course to the boundless desire to become someone, mostly because he was tired of feeling the same. Stuck like a stone at the bottom of a river, and that river was time.

After every obstacle we come across we find a greater one stands before us, it is then we are left with a challenging decision to make. Either face it and struggle to perservere once more, or give up and run away from it. What we do is left up to us, but it's what's waitong for us at the end of each road. Both paths are a test we must face, and it is when we face it with courage and hope... that we learn who we really are. That was when Ricky finally remembered who he was. The challenges not only showed this but convinced him, and in the end he found himself growing stronger.

The challenge proves to us who we are but what we do afterwards only signifies this, our actions we take seal the verification and leave us to wonder; are we really ready to move forward? Can we hope to make it through the storm that awaits us? These were questions that held great weight, and that weight became more overwhelming than Ricky could've ever prepared for.

Thus he fell into a state of depression, and from there the storm that once remained dormant...released its dying wrath.

The Final Dawn

Postby Ricky Maze on February 26th, 2013, 6:58 pm

When we reach the end of our bargaining we come to learn that what we would give could never be enough, and so we move on to the next state of mind. We sink back into our withdrawal knowing that there is nothing that can change, accepting what the truth is and then come to cope with it. It is critical in this point that we push past our sorrow, and move forward with caution along this path. Because when we look back and see what progress we've made to get this far, we only realize; that the true test has just begun. However no amount of progress felt enough to stem the tides of depression, and Ricky soon found himself in a terrible position.

Carrying on. We find it hard to do when we become cornered, surrounded by an overwhelming force that's too strong to oppose. It becomes difficult to try and overcome, and we lose hope in ourselves during this process. That is, until we finally give in; and so he did. Ricky lost himself to the overwhelming sorrow that hung over him, just when he thought the storm would end however things took a different turn.

Sometimes we face our past and wish we could live there once more, sometimes we wish it never happened and wish to forget. However no matter how hard we try to look for the future we must first live in the present, even if we face something that reminds us of that distant past; and face it he did. Ricky soon realized just what it was he didn't consider before, and when his eyes completely opened to the truth he realized a lot. Thus began the final moments of a dyimg storm.

When we realize that the reality is what it is and the truth can never change, we fight it until we're done and ready to give in. After we give in we think about all that was and could have been, only to find that no matter how much we dwell on it; there is no going back. Afterwards we deal with it like a storm, watching as the rain falls endlessly in our crushed world. Its when we allow the storm to end though that we see the light it hides; and that storm had ended. It's dark clouds that had loomed over finally began to break, and beyond them awaited a light he believed to have gone out.

That light was his will. His meaning to carry on, to live in this world with the reason to be there for those that mattered. Ricky was never alone when he convinced himself that he was. Thus began the final step in his journey, the part of moving on...

The Final Dawn

Postby Ricky Maze on March 1st, 2013, 3:16 am

After we see the storm pass we realize our actions, and in turn react to them for the better. Where we once sought redemption in a lost world, we seek out a resolve to our problems. The first thing we have to do is reconnect with those that stood with us, to remind ourselves that they have our backs in the darkest of times. Ricky didn't have to think about the people that did have his back, he knew immediately who those people were. They would always be there when he needed them, and Ricky then knew that to be true.

We admit our mistakes and try to prove we're ready for a change, and when we do this we have to be ready for whatever comes. Because no matter how scary or uncomfortable it is, change is what makes us a better person. Thus Ricky accepted what was to come, the challenge to accept change made a turn for the better. Which in turn made Ricky become better as well.

When it comes to change we do it for the better of ourselves, more importantly for the ones we truly care about. With a new clean slate we look forward to our goals, and remember the hard lessons of the past. That is what allows us to fix our mistakes, to make our wrongs right for the future that lies ahead. Thus Ricky made amends with what he said, the past was done and now was the time he should focus on.

After what has been said and done is corrected we have to look to the future, to prepare for it's inevitable appointment of occurance. We set ourselves goals and prepare to rise to their challenge, but we must first ask ourselves if we can do it. If we can rise to the challenge and complete what we set minds to, can we truly carry on to the next? The answer is yes. We have the capacity to do great things, to achieve our goals; from the simplest to the greatest. It exists in all of us, all we have to do is find it in ourselves to push forward.

With each step we take we find ourselves closer up to the top, our winding path leading us on the hill we have set our goal on in life. What will we see when we reach the top? Will it be another goal to achieve or our dream? All we can do is make the steps we can, and allow time to carry us forward. For the future isn't written in stone, and the chronicles of the past are not the ones to decide it. It is the present that shapes the future, and with each passing tick we find ourselves closer; closer to our greatest goals than we've ever been.

With time and friends on our side we see a new dawn, a new difference in our life. The change unknown but welcome in it's appearance, and with it the will do to something. To be something. That is the part of of moving on, to be able to look past everything and find the will to change.

Thus it began.

Ricky opened his eyes to see the first breaking daylight over the horizon. The colors of the morning bringing forth a new day, a new difference in the world as life had passed another day away. What awaits beyond the new day is a mystery, but that's the future for anyone really. Spring had officially arrived now, it was the turn of a new leaf. The final dawn that followed after a dark stormy night that never wanted to end.

Ricky took in the smell of the cool moist air, and kept his eyes fixed to the sky above. No sun had broken over the horizon yet, but there was light to bring the new day. Just as the future would bring the next chapter in Ricky's story. The guard finally stood up to wipe the dirt from his pants, and looked down to Odis' grave once more. "Thanks for always bein there. Even when I thought ya wasn't." He exhaled a sigh with a pleasant smile, and headed on home to get a bit of sleep.

The future would come as he expected, and he would face it with courage and hope in his heart. This is after all his story, and the next chapter waited to be written...

Sad but uplifting to see Ricky find a reason to go on. Looking back it really seems like he's gotten stronger in more ways then one.

I remember listening to that song in my play through of Dark Clouds. I admit both versions were very satisfying. I like building things up so you can imagine how I loved the customization and such.
