As he'd thought, the dirt smacked the Kelvic square in the face, blinding him "Shyke!" Tendo called as he tried to wipe the earth from his eyes; Roderick kicked his stomach, but he didn't budge, and continued to let Roderick hit him. He moved before the hunter could finish his attack. "I'm a tiger, bum. I have great ears, and SMELL for that matter." the Kelvic smirked "And when you go home, take a shower." he smirked again. Tendo surged at Roderick, using his ears and nose He punched Roderick in the side and palmed his face. "Too bad your trick didn't work!" Tendo said confidently - then tripped over his own feet. He put his arms out in front of him to catch himself before he hit the ground. All the same, Roderick had an opening; he ran at him and delivered a savage kick to the ribs, hurting his foot - and flipping Tendo off balance. He delivered another kick, then another, the blows raining down on the Kelvic's chest and gut. He stumbled back at the sight of Sei on the ground; he looked at his friend and suddenly his pent up anger erupted. "SHYYYKE!" Roderick bellowed, face to the sky, the tendons in his neck tensed, "Stupid bastard..." he wheezed hoarsely, resting his hands on his knees and spitting "I came here...to train with you; instead we're beating each other up like... some drunken idiots in a bar." he spat again, "You don't need to give me... gifts and offer me training to... get something from me - I'd have taught you if...you'd just asked," he sucked in another breath of air, his head swimming - the blows to his head must have been harder than he'd thought, "You...are so...petchin' lucky...that I don't want...to kill you..." He turned and walked away from the Kelvic, leaving him where he was. Roderick took his waterskin from his pack and took a great gulp of it; it was still fairly cool, and it helped ease some of the pain in his head. He sank down to the dirt, leaning his back against the tree, left leg bent up towards his chest so he could lean his arm on it. Breathing slowly to fill his lungs with air again and calm the throbbing ache in his chest, he move his arm off his knee every now and then to take a sip from the waterskin. As his breathing returned to normal and the waterskin grew lighter the pains in his head ebbed; it seemed he'd just been breathless and thirsty. The anger bled from him, leaving a bad taste on his tongue. He shut his eyes and just listened to the sounds of the woods; the rustling of the leaves and the whisper of the wind soothed him like a hummed melody. He waited for Sei. |
