Guestion about gender and pycons

Postby Sinoa on November 4th, 2013, 3:31 am

True, genetics don't play a factor with pycon so those rules may not apply and I can't really argue magic so I guess I'll just stick with just being gender queer. thanks for the help

Guestion about gender and pycons

Postby Ball on November 4th, 2013, 1:00 pm

Thank you Alea for that input, my statement Sinoa wasn't about the thinking of being 'gender queer' my statement was concerning the physicality of it. As pycons we are designed as either male or female, no genetics about it as we are made of clay and djed... -nods- SO physically (and that is what the bit on one's CS is about (I think Tarot/Goss would be best to answer this question however). But playing the pycon as gender confused is acceptable. =D

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *

Guestion about gender and pycons

Postby Sinoa on November 4th, 2013, 3:00 pm

I get were your coming from and the misunderstanding came mostly in how I personally define gender. I explain that part a bit when you hover over the gender portion of my character sheet. I get now that it was a bit silly to want to play a Hermaphroditic pycon when it was pretty obvious they don't work the way other creatures do but I figured I could at least ask.

Guestion about gender and pycons

Postby Kalina on November 4th, 2013, 3:38 pm

Sinoa wrote:The definition of gender tends to fluctuate, I like to think of gender as the social construct and the sex as the physical representation[...]

Semantically speaking, the English Language defines "sex" as your biological make-up, what bits and pieces you have. For the majority of sexual beings (of which a Pycon is one), you are endowed with a specific set of procreation apparatus and genes, and you shouldn't have both or neither. Gender, however, is a personal identity, an abstract concept in modern discourse.

In lay terms, there is no difference, but for the purposes of RP, I suppose it possible to have a fluctuating gender... assuming the bits and bobs down below stay the same.

Then again.. the fact that Pycons can morph... an interesting question..

Guestion about gender and pycons

Postby Sinoa on November 4th, 2013, 5:35 pm

Well I think this has pretty much been resolved, Pycon's sex is assigned through magic. I’m pretty sure there are mutations in sex that result in varying manifestations in other living creatures but yeah... Pycon's are magic. I don't really want to start a debate about sexual mutations in the question and answer forum but if your like a scientist or are really knowledgeable on the subject you can message me and be like "Sinoa....ya dumb, this is how it is". I might see if I can write a lore page for gender and sexual orientation for people who wanna go down that road, Imput on that is much appreciated (if/when I post it).

Actually, If you want to be gender neutral, there are gender neutral pronouns, at least in english.

Guestion about gender and pycons

Postby Gossamer on January 9th, 2014, 11:02 pm

Mizahar isn't the proper forum for Gender Identity validity discussions. Pick a gender. Don't pick one. RP whatever you want too. I think making it an issue in a Q&A thread isn't really doing the whole 'issue' any service. :)

We are here to roleplay. Go debate it in thread.

I though this was resolved long ago, I know now that I shouldn't have made this thread. You may all go about your business and forget this thread ever happened.
