Ely, I have a question for you. It's about the thread contest. Are people allowed to vote for their own? Don't get me wrong, I am not asking so I could vote for myself, I almost never do. But, I was thinking that it would be pretty, well, maybe not unfair, but not nice if people would do just that. It is a competition and every vote counts, just one extra could make the difference between winning or not winning. But well, I feel it would be pretty low to win like that, wouldn't be a real victory. And some people always vote for someone else than themselves. I mean if someone's thread is the best of the entries, or if you simply enjoyed their thread the most (which basically means they were the best ) , then they deserve a vote, so ... Well, I'm sure you get my point. Thought I'd ask. People might agree with me, or they might not, but I thought it was something important.

Oh, that's a good question... voting's starting in two days, isn't it? Though I'm not Ely, personally I agree Brandon.... voting for yourself complicates things, and the actual best thread might not win... which isn't the point, right?

It wasn't my point, but it's a good point as well. I do agree with you. Though not on the complicating part.

What I meant was something like that self voting changes the outcome for the worse, and also, pure hypotheticly, if only you, Cass, Julius and me were the ones to enter the competition and only we were the ones to submit a vote, and each of us did a self vote ... :/ but that might just be what you meant with complicating things...

Well, that and the unfairbess of selfvoting is what I wanted to point out.

Anyway, you stated some valid points yourself and I totally agree with you.

Very good points, all around!

I strongly discourage self-voting. If there is a biased vote, if there is a tie, or if everyone votes for themselves, then I will intervene by either choosing the threads myself or breaking said tie, one way or the other. That way, everyone goes home happy. I'd just really rather not do that.

Sadly, I don't have any threads that would really qualify... of Jenni's three co-op threads this season... one is dead, and the other two with potential are just really beginning

But I'm pretty sure that everyone else has a few good threads out there that would be good competition

I'm in the same boat as Jenni; all of my co-ops are incomplete. With that said, can we nominate an incomplete thread with the assumption that it will be complete (or atleast closer to conclusion than before)? The voter, if (s)he is in fact interested in the thread, could just cast their vote later, when the thread is complete.

Same here. A lot of co-op threads, but none is quite finished. Too bad, too bad. I did enjoy your and Sana's thread though, so I wouldn't mind you winning

I wouldn't mind reading and voting on incomplete threads, as long as maybe a certain post number has been reached so that the content can be judged appropriately!
