Magical Research [Location: The Rock Garden]

19th day of Spring 514 AV

The sun was only beginning to show its face, only hints of its bright orange grow could be seen on the edge of the horizon. The Trees surrounding the location blocked most of the light but it could still be seen on some of the stones and monuments that decorated the area. According to Grey this place was called the stone garden and was created to honour the dead. Nivel supposed since tall folk didn't turn to stone when there time on this earth had ended they needed to leave a stone in place so they could be remembered. Nivel would have liked someday becoming part of the stone garden but knew it would be better to return to her Pive like her ancestors before her.

“Today training will be a little different then the usual fair” Grey finally spoke up “This will be a lesson on meditation and magic” The women paused for a moment to let that sink in.
Nivel was very excited but did her best to restrain herself, She didn't want Grey to think she wasn't going to take this opportunity seriously.
“Understood” Nivel nodded her head in agreement.
“Well then let us start with Meditation, first we need to do a bit of stretches to relax our bodies” Grey instructed “just follow what I do”
Grey bent herself forward with her arms outstretched towards her feet, Nivel did the same but found the exercise to be far to easy. After holding herself in that position for a while, the patron reverted back to a standing position and began to twist her torso back and forth with her arms bent and held perpendicular to her chest. Nivel did the same and still had no idea what was to be accomplished by doing these movents, this was not at all what the pycon had in mind when Grey said they were going to do stretches. They did a few more stances before Grey decided it was time to move on.

“Okay, now I would like you to get into a comfortable position” Grey calmly directed as she followed her own advice and sat down cross legged on a flatter part of the tiled ground. Nivel did the same, but still found this exercise far to painless for her to consider proper training.
“Now close your vision of the world off and only focus on your feet” The patron continued as she slowly closed her eyes.
Nivel removed her sight and began to focus all of her mind on her small feet. It was very hard for Nivel at first but her mind soon began to focus intently on them. She could have sworn she could feel the water and clay shifting from within, and she found the sensation surprisingly relaxing.
“Now move up to your legs”
Nivel followed the instructions and shifted her focus upward.
“And now your torso, and remember to breath deeply” Grey said as she began to make exaggerated breathing noises.
Nivel found this command odd and lost her focus for a tick, but quickly regained it. Nivel mimicked Grey's heavy breathing and found that it did relax her quite a bit.
“Okay that should be enough for now” Grey interrupted. “Let us start working on your skills in Auristics.”

“Take this” Grey handed Nivel a book that was about half the length of Nivel's body. It was bounded with a leather cover and upon opening it the pycon could see that it's pages were blank. Nivel was perplexed yet again, as she had no idea what a blank book had anything to do with Auristics. The pycon hadn't seem many books in her short life but the ones she did usually had some semblance of text in them.
“The book is for you to take notes in, You are not very knowledgeable of the world and I feel you should use your skills in Auristics to learn more about it.” Grey explained “I would like you to focus on one object today and write about what you learned.”
“why only one?” Nivel questioned
“well, My dear Squire...It would drain you far to much at your skill level to use Auristics more than once a day” Greys tone went serious “and I hope I do not have to mention again the grave consequences that come with over stepping your bounds...you do know of Overgiving, do you not?
Nivel nodded in agreement, She felt extremely embarrassed that she even thought of asking such a momentously naive question. The young squires parents lectured her frequently about the consequences of abusing magic, from going insane, permanently damaging ones body or even death, it was made abundantly clear that magic was not to be trifled with.

“Good and under no circumstances are you to ever forget it” Replied Grey in a harsh tone. “now let us begin”

Magical Research [Location: The Rock Garden]

Nivel scanned the area for any object that seemed interesting enough. There wasn't a whole lot in this area to choose from just a bunch of rocks imbedded in the ground in a crude pattern and the surrounding greenery. The pycon decided she would investigate the rocks on the ground and maybe find out why they were laid here. One of the stones had some interesting markings, they must have said something but the message was eroded away with time. A few of them had text carved into most of which were names but this one just seemed to stick out to the pycon more than the others.

Nivel hadn't ever tried focusing on anything with Auristics too intensely, She had only really used her other sight to see in the dark or detect magic, just simple tasks with very little risks. The pycon was a little bit apprehensive of looking into these things but none the less tried her best to focus her energies on finding out about this object. As she focused all of her nexus on the object its aura began to speak to her. Not with actual words but more with a language the pycon was only beginning to understand. Although when the information came, it came fast and hard and there was too much of it to handle at once.

“Try focusing on a question you’d like answered otherwise you’ll overwhelm yourself” Grey instructed seeing that her Squire was struggling. Nivel followed her advice and tried to search through the information filling her tiny clay head. She wanted to know what was originally carved into the stone or who the stone was intended for. The information she was able to deceiver didn't really answer this question, Nivel only saw a quick glimpse of the large hands that carved into the rock using tools Nivel hadn’t seen before. The Hands were most definitely tall folk and probably male. The only other information that Nivel got from the experience was that the rock was very old and that it was made of “Granite” a word Nivel had never heard of but now vaguely understood.

When Nivel severed the connection she felt an indescribable feeling of euphoria and exhaustion at the same time. She forced herself to scribble down what little she learned and even did a crude little doddle of the rock and the hands she saw.

19th day of Spring 514 AV

Nivel felt that today was a good day to get back to her Auristics training, so she headed back to the rock garden with her note book in tow. With her patron not present, Nivel decided to opt out of the stretches she suggested for ones that the pycon had learned in her pyken training. The squire formed a fist and let it fly, pushing it out as far as it could go. She felt the strain as her arm was pulled out to about twice its length, she pulled it back and did the same with her other arm. She continued the process with her arms getting slightly longer each time. When she felt she had done enough with her arms she moved on to her legs, then her tail, then her wings and even her entire torso. She enjoyed the process and it made her feel far more limber than the stretches Grey had taught her.

Next was the Meditation, Nivel didn’t necessarily mind Greys methods of meditation but since she was doing stretches her own way she might as well meditate her own way too. The pycon began by imagining a tiny worm burrowing into her foot, the worm wiggled its way fully in and began burrowing up her leg. As the little worm made its way through her body it ate tiny little creatures that dwelled in the pycons body. The little worm made its way throughout Nivel’s body eating every last one of the little pests until it reached her head. It burrowed out her forehead and turned into a beautiful looking butterfly which promptly flew out of existence.

With the Meditation now at a close She needed to find an object to study. Nivel didn’t want to examine the rock a second time since she didn’t get a whole lot out of it the first time. She wanted something with a more interesting aura and a lifeless object simply wouldn’t do. She didn’t feel she could focus on a moving subject so a plant would be the next best thing. A bright yellow flower from a nearby growing weed caught her attention

Nivel walked up to her new subject and watched as it subtly moved with the wind. The flower itself was kind of fluffy with a long stem that ended in a patch of long spiny leaves. It was a common thing to be found but still very much a foreign thing to Nivel. She looked at its aura for a moment, it wasn't as complicated as a more sentient creature but still have a humming glow with a calming rhythm to it. The pycon thought about what she would want to learn form her subject, which was much harder than she expected.

The first and least interesting thing that came to mind was what the plant was usually called, she would have this in mind but that was something she could just ask about. The question would have to be something she would never be able to find out on her own. Then it hit her like a bag of potatoes, what does this plant taste like? Nivel had seen many other creatures eat just about everything but as a pycon, she was limited to clay. The plant was far more colourful and different than what she was used to eating, she couldn't even theorize or imagine what it could taste like. Nivel was mostly just excited to experience something she would otherwise never be able to experience through natural means.

She jumped right into the process and let herself be flooded with information yet again. The name of the object came in whispers and it seemed to have two “weed” and “dandelion” since nivel already knew what a weed was dandelion must be what the plant was usually called.

Then came the taste, she focused on eating the plant and what it would taste like as if she was eating clay. What came after was strange and confusing. Nivel didn't know what to think of the new sensation it wasn't entirely unpleasant but it wasn't entirely pleasant ether. The pycon had nothing to compare it to, it just felt bizarre but she was still glad she did it.

She severed the connection and wrote the plants name in her book, with a little scribble that was supposed to resemble it but didn't. She tried to write down what it tasted like but couldn't come up with any words that accurately described the experience so she left it bare.
