Again Joris found himself in his apartment, sitting at his table and dealing with parchment and ink in regards to his magic. The tall dark haired Mage Knight was dressed in his civilian clothing today, having no need for his armor in a situation like this for his training. He was not training his body after all, at least not his physical one but was rather attempting to train his mind and soul. Those were the preferred weapons of a Mage Knight after all, those things that influenced their effectiveness in being able to call upon their magic and utilize it to its fullest extent.
The tall man was hunched over a piece of blank parchment, dipping his brush in ink and beginning to draw out his Glyphs for the scroll he was to make. The first thing he was to make was a Focus Glyph, which took the shape of a large swirling whirlpool like shape. His hands moved slowly and carefully across the parchment, his dark eyes following the stains of ink that were brought into existence. Messing up could compromise the scroll, which would be a rather unfortunate thing to happen. Joris rather preferred not to waste parchment where he could avoid it, preferring to conserve potential resources instead.
Once the Focus was completed Joris moved on to the next thing, a Barrier Glyph that was to encircle around the Focus Glyph. His Barriers took the shape of two lines that entwined around each other rather like a pair of serpents coiling around their mate. Here he took even more care than with his Focus Glyph, the Barrier being the second most crucial part of a scroll for they prevented the magic from escaping the Focus until needed. His work slowed but that was only because he wanted at least some form of quality in his work.
Finishing the Barrier up, Joris’ brush started sketching out the shape of a simply treelike image right on the Barrier. The roots dug into the Barrier itself and the branches reached outwards from it, looking to receive the necessary information. This was his Trigger Glyph and was that which would allow for the magic to be released when certain listed conditions occurred. The Mage Knight wanted to try a non-verbal trigger this time around as he figured there was less chance of activation by accident. His face gained a contemplative shadow about it as he thought over it, nodding to himself once he felt he had what he needed for the trigger.
When blood touches the Trigger, it will lower the Barrier and release the magic contained within the Focus.
Not exactly the most specific of Triggers but even a simple Trigger was fine so long as it was functional at the end of the day. Joris wrote out the condition and once he finished it he put his brush back in the inkwell and stared at the scroll as he searched for flaws that were obvious. Dark eyes looked from Focus to Barrier and to Trigger but so far the entire design seemed rather solid to his trained eye. Satisfied with his examination, the tall man moved it a little over to the side.
The tall man rolled his shoulders, joints popping lightly as they received some use after the chimes it had taken to make that scroll properly. Glyphing could very well be a lengthy process, though it was useful in that it required very little resources to actually do. Glyphs could theoretically be written in any kind of writing material or possibly even be carved into something should the Glypher desire. Joris for his part had yet to experiment with other materials, though he might consider it an experiment for later as now he still had work to do.
