[Syliras Location] An Elegant Weave

4th Day of Winter, 511 A.V

Stepping into the store with a sigh of relief and a shudder of appreciation, Jeim let it be known that he was glad to be here, in the Elegant Weave. After having chosen to brave the cold of winter rather than properly layer against the wind, Jeim's entrance into the store was, in his opinion, like being thrust into heaven on earth. Rubbing his biceps repeatedly, Jeim attempted to utilize friction to warm himself back up, it had not been a good idea to step out of his apartment in no more than his usual sleeveless tunic. Eventually, once Jeim had successfully warmed himself up via his own effort, he lifted his head so that he was now staring into the eyes of the relatively bewildered shopkeep.

"Hello there" Jeim exclaimed, breaking out into his usual grin. He had, undoubtedly, embarrassed himself, but he did that often enough that he was able to play it off. "I was hoping to buy a few things"

As the woman opened her mouth to undoubtedly ask "Anything in particular" Jeim cut her off "Yes!" As the woman looked stunned for a moment, Jeim continued on, refusing to give the woman any real time to make this into a conversation; normally, he would have loved to talk, but he was freezing and needed some clothes. "I'd like two pairs of Wool Trousers, three cotton tunics, one wool cape and one leather jerkin", as he finished his order Jeim lifted his eyebrow as many who visited the tavern he worked in tended to do, thus making it plain that he would like his order filled sooner rather than later.

As the woman hurried off to get what Jeim had ordered, the red-haired youth jumped from foot to foot. He wasn't freezing to death or anything of the sort, but he was uncomfortably cold. When the woman returned and informed Jeim of the price, he left the 11 Gold Miza onto the counter before grabbing the folded clothing and donning the jerkin and the cape he had just purchased.

"Have a nice day" Jeim shouted over his shoulder as he exited the shop.

Winter 29, 511 AV

Yve was relieved she finally had the opportunity to get some new clothes. Everything she'd had the past 3 years was always given as charity, and never fit perfectly. As she stepped into the store, she gave an uncertain wave to the clerk behind the desk, who smiled warmly."Do you need anything in particular?" she asked. As she gave Yve a good look though, she nodded to herself and left the room. Yve made her way to the giant piles of fabrics, in awe by the hundreds of colors and designs. She'd never seen so much color in the life. She ran her fingers along the folds of the cloth, feeling the differences of texture. In her glaze-eyed state she didn't notice the woman had come back into the room, carrying several bundles in her arms. She cleared her throat, starting Yve out of her daze. "I have several choices I think you might be interested in, dear. I take it you don't have much experience with these sorts of things. Come on over here and we'll take a look." she said, smiling as Yve turned back and walked excitedly to the counter.

The clerk spread the clothing out on the counter. "This is just to get a general idea of what you want. After that, I'll go and get you the color you want, and the right size. Go ahead and take a gander." Yve looked at the items spread out before her. The woman seemed to have brought out one of everything in the store. She thought carefully of what she really needed; she couldn't carry much because she traveled almost always by air. "I'd like a cotton blouse and a pair of cotton pants that are a close fit, ma'am. That's all." The clerk nodded absently as she bundled everything into a pile and came around the counter, expertly taking Yve's measurements. Yve told her her desired colors and the woman quickly disappeared again. No sooner had she left before she was back again, setting the order on the counter. Yve quickly pushed a fistfull of GM toward the woman, who grinned, counted out the proper amount, and returned the change. "I hope your new clothes serve you well, dear." The woman waved kindly as Yve picked up her parcel, smiling, and made her way out the door. "Thank you, ma'am!" she called back as the door was closing behind her. Her first ever purchase went very well, she thought. The most important thing though; she finally had some pants.

[Syliras Location] An Elegant Weave

Postby Markus Andres on August 11th, 2012, 1:19 pm

Summer 6th - 510 AV

There were times where Markus felt like a real man. When swinging his sword around. Defeating lesser squires and inexperienced knights in duels. Riding around launching deadly arrows at targets. But then there were the times where Markus stood in a shop surrounded by clothing. Going into a shop buying clothes wasn't his cup of ale. He took a deep breath as he moved up the middle aisle. Looking at things he really. Really needed to get. He picked up three cotton blouses and three cotton trousers for a total of 3 gm. He then spent some time looking at a leather jerkin which he ended up buying as well. Adding another 5 gm to the costs. He added a cotton tunic. Simple. Another 5 sm. Finally he found a fur cape he, despite of everything, thought looked good. So he added that to his pile of clothes. He fished out the gold mizas required to pay for the clothes and grand total of 13 gold mizas. The color scheme was simple for the blouses and trousers. Two of each were black, one of each was blue. The tunic was white and reached just above his knees.

Price and math :
3 pairs of cotton trousers: 3x5SM = 1½ GM
3 cotton blouses: 3x5SM = 1½ GM
1 Cotton tunic: 5 SM
1 fur cape: 5 GM
1 leather jerkin: 5 GM.
------------------------------
Total price: 13½ GM

Ledger: 119.7 GM - 13.5 gm = 106.2 GM

[Syliras Location] An Elegant Weave

Postby Vanari on July 30th, 2013, 5:38 pm

Summer, Day 58, 513 AV

Vanari's smile stretched ear to ear as her eyes gleamed tangerine with delight. As hard-bitten and unladylike as she felt, the tall Vantha couldn't help but feel a burst of girlish glee. It had been far too long since the last time she'd set foot in a proper clothing shop.

"Where do I even start?" she sighed, scanning the garment section from one end to the other. Suddenly something bright caught her eye. It was a half-sleeved velvet tunic in light, summer orange. The color reminded her of melons, and her mouth watered at the thought.

A totally justifiable purchase, she assured herself. I haven't worn proper clothes for an entire season. Besides, she had plenty of coin to spend and was thoroughly tired of feeling dirt within every crevice of her body.

The tunics were obviously made for men, but this one seemed more ornate and slimmer than the rest. It also had a collar embroidered with tiny acorns. Peculiar, but she liked it. Looking around, she also picked up a pair of silk pants in muted plum. The weather in Syliras was much warmer than she anticipated and the silk would feel like a blessing.

Eager to finish her errands and dunk herself in a warm bath at The White Swan Inn, Vanari paid 11 GM for her clothes, gushed with gratitude, and hurriedly left.

One shirt and one pair of pants was what she had. Of course there was her undergarments and the cloak she left at home. Those were the only pieces of clothing that she possessed. She worked, trained, and often slept in those few pieces. It was about time she got some more.

Walking into the store Adara spent her time browsing the shelves for a moment, occasionally reaching out and touching a soft fabric or a color that caught her eye.

"Can I help you?"

Adara spun around to see a small, older woman smiling up at her with her hands neatly folding in front of her.
"Ah, yes, I think so. I was looking to purchase some things."
The woman chuckled a little, covering her smile with a small hand. "Well of course you were dear. That is why you are here. What were you thinking?"

Adara's dark eyes shifted around the large first floor for a long while before finally deciding in her mind the items she wanted.
"Two piece Lingerie, a cotten blouse, a pair of cotton pants, a pair of wool trousers, a cotton skirt, a wool scarf, and a pair of wool gloves." Man, now that she said it all it seemed like a whole lot of stuff. Perhaps it was best to only get some of it. The women was running off before Adara could dare call her back and change her mind.

It took a moment, but the women came back with her arms loaded in goods, nearly taller then her.
"Here we are my dear. Everything you wanted. That will be 11gm, 4sm, and 5cms."
Adara could not help but frown at the amount of money she was spending on clothing. Saying not a word more she paid, grabbed her things and rushed out.

[Syliras Location] An Elegant Weave

Postby Rhaegar on May 11th, 2014, 6:19 am

2nd Day of Spring, 514 AV

Rhaegar had always had a taste for clothing. More so than his father, less so than his mother. His mother taught him that clothing tells a lot about a person. You could pinpoint his manner, personality, and preferences just by what he wore.

As Rhaegar slipped into the store and looked down at his simple, loose, and sightly sweaty clothing, he thought of one word that he knew people thought of him on first sight: inconsequential.

The silver-haired man glided into the clothing store with a grace of someone who didn't belong in such clothing, though. Every move he made was one of absolute precision and fluidity, like a cat padding across the floor, silent as the grave. His boots lightly rang off the floor as he stepped over to one of the shelves, lifting up a pile of musty, blue tunics. These will not do, he thought. Aren't Syliran's supposed to be master tailors? That's what his father told him. Father had been acquainted with many Syliran silk merchants, clothing merchants and their ilk.

Rhaegar sighed; thinking of Father would not help with anything. He turned around to leave the store... but then his eye caught something. A red doublet, silk, with a golden-weave pattern on the shoulders. Like webs.

He unhooked it brought it up to the counter, and asked the price. "Thirty-five golden miza's, mister," the woman replied. Her amber eyes pierced his blue ones as she spoke to him.

"Thirty-what?" Rhaegar's mouth dropped in feigned surprise, then he chuckled. "You charge quite the fee here, eh? Well, alright. If that's the fee it takes to look nice in the public eye."

He picks out the thirty-five coins, sets them on the counter, and walks out with his new red-silk-doublet in arm, grinning, heading out back to his apartments.

Postby Kayuqtuq Snowsong on June 17th, 2015, 12:07 am

Kayuqtuq crept in, her ever-present lute in one hand and several mizas in another. She needed a dress for the wedding, and this would be where she got it. First, she looked at all the dresses. She picked out a simple white, wool dress. Now she needed a cape . She looked at them all, and none matched the dress. Except one. This one was a beautiful white brocade cape. She sighed. She could not afford to waste mizas on a cape. But she loved so much. She sighed and picked it up, placing 15 mizas on the palm of a worker's outstretched hand.
Vani Common Nari Thoughts
Note: Kayuqtuq is only basic in Common, and particularly has trouble with grammar and the structure of words. If you notice she talks a little like a six-year old, that's why.
Note: Due to real life, posts will be delayed. I'm working hard on some non-Mizahar writing, and that plus school and various other things makes it hard to post.

[Syliras Location] An Elegant Weave

Postby Elann on June 30th, 2015, 7:34 am

Timestamp 25th of Summer 515AV

Not much time had passed since coming off the boat. The welcome center had directed Elann toward the shop An Elegant Weave to see if Navia Druva had any need of a weaver. She was told if anything, since she was not very fluent in common except trade language that she would either work the register, be a maid to the stables and apartments, or if a weaver was needed of her competent skill level then she would likely hire her. Elann however was one to stick to weaving as she knew what she was doing. She never was much of a saleswoman, but her father was quite impressive.

She came to the door before opening it she tried to make herself look as presentable as she could. She had surely spent a couple months at sea and so was not the most well dressed nor clean of individuals, but her hopes were high and her charisma lit up. She took in a deep breath, grabbed hold of the doorknob and entered. She was met with a wonderful array of colors, a wafting familiar smell of fabrics, and the faintest sound of people working in the back or customers speaking in hushed indoor voices.

She closed the door behind her and could see out the window to the streets she came from. This perhaps could be the start of her home. She wasn't sure though. A young woman came up to her in the few moments since opening the door and asked her courteously if she could use some help.

"I would like to see Navia?" The woman looked surprised as not many come in to see the owner. She nodded and went to the back to retrieve her. A few chimes passed and down came Navia. She wore the most beautiful dress, as was expected in Elann's mind. Elann moved to greet her kindly and peacefully said, "Hello, I was wondering if we could speak in private about any possible employment needs you would have?"

If accepted, she would follow her into the back wherein she could display her excellent skill at weaving and her understanding of rug making. While her skills were not limited to rug making, she provided a unique style to Navia's retinue. She grew up knowing how to make Benshiran rugs, which to say were beautiful and durable was an understatement.
