This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]

The Vantha nodded excitedly, her eyes turning blue as the sky. Everything was working out... and she would finally have a job! Also, not just any boring regular job... something doing the things she loved, excluding exploring of course. That could always be done in her spare time. Some might have the exact opposite opinion of Spirit's on this occupation, but to her, it held many interesting things. She could meet, or at least just see, many newcomers that came by, which was always entertaining. Working with animals to her was just like working with people, they had their own personalities after all. Just thinking of what she would be doing made her even happier than before, and she couldn't help but grin.
"Yes, I have some experience with horses and elks, but not a huge amount. I can also handle birds and know a bit about medicine, but again I'm not very good at it... I hope that's helpful here!" Spirit said, answering Lusina's recent question. It was true, she did have experience in those fields, having helped out with various animals in the hold. Truthfully, is was quite strange for a Frostfawn not to have any experience whatsoever with animals, but, of course, there were exceptions. Spirit was not one of those though, and had worked with a wide range of creatures, though her attentions were of course mostly focused on Wind. She knew there were most certainly others who were better in all the subjects she had just listed, but having a wide background in whatever you did was always good.
Since Lusina also seemed quite good at dealing with nervous people, Spirit had calmed down completely, and had forgotten all about her earlier fears. Now she was smiling happily, fully relaxed and happy that her effort had born fruit. |

The older Frostfawn woman nodded her head faintly as Spirit listed her experience with a variety of animals. Lusina found herself smiling when the younger Frostfawn mentioned having some knowledge in medicine. "Having at least some basic understanding of medicine and of animal health would prove valuable in this kind of work. Your knowledge, however sparse you may think it is, will be most welcome here."
With more practice and intensive training in animal medicine, Lusina might consider promoting Spirit to resident veterinarian of White Elk Stables. However, there was still much work waiting for young Spirit Frostfawn before such a day will arrive, and the lead groom will also have to put into consideration whether Spirit will last long enough in the job to get a rise in position. It might be a little too early for the woman to assume that Spirit will be given such a big responsibility at the stables someday, but Lusina believed that with the young girl's interest in the animals' well-being will come great dedication for the work given to her.
Lusina laughed softly and patted Spirit gently on the shoulders. "Alright. Come back here tomorrow morning. There is much work to do early in the day, and things can easily get busy getting all of the animals groomed and cared for." she glanced at Spirit's dog and smiled sadly. "You might have to leave your furry companion outside or at home, though. Some of the horses here don't take to a canine's presence really well, and we don't want them getting all scared and nervous." Lusina sighed. She felt for the poor dog, having to stay away from its human companion for most of the day. However, the general safety of the animals in the stables comes first.
"Anyway, I have to get back to work. I'll see you tomorrow, Spirit." the woman smiled kindly, nodding at the girl, and her dog, one last time before returning to tending to the animals once more. |
