Kuvarakh took no offense at the wording of Nanami's dismissal. He assumed that she was simply letting him know that she was no longer needing company. It was really a favor to him. He would have stayed all night as long as he thought she was having trouble dealing with the horrid revelation of Victor's taunting. That obligation was now discharged.
And she was right about "sleeping easier". Though Nuits did not really sleep, they did meditate. And they were pretty much just as vulnerable as a sleeping human when they did. He would "sleep" easier once this "Kirby" thing was resolved. And as for Nanami wanting Victor's hands, he had no idea what the basis of this demand was, but he just chuckled grimly, "I don't want any part of Victor, I can assure you. I can't undo inhabiting this old corpse, but I've certainly learned something about jumping into the body of a known criminal, currently at large in your own city...Not real smart. I should have thought it through a little better."
He stood up, twisting the kinks away and shaking her offered hand. "I will look for you at the Wolf's Cave, then. But right now, I ought to finding a few friends that might also find themselves caught up in this business. I need to warn them of what I appear to set in motion." He was, of course, thinking of Rey and Phobius. They weren't actually wearing the body of the target criminal, but they'd been involved in his "dispatch". "It could be that there's some group partnered with Victor that could be looking for them as well."
He'd been to the Wolf's Cave Inn a few times. He did not expect to have any real trouble finding it. Phobius had been a there now as well and the young man was getting better at finding places in town. One of these days he was going to have to bring him out to the Mansion. He wondered how comfortable the Inartan kid would be around Nanami. He was outgoing, but easily intimidated, where she was grim and fearless. He decided it would do Phobius good to have to deal with Nanami's imposing personality.
He thought about how he would arrange to introduce them as he walked back to the shop. He hoped this run-in with Victor would prove to be the worst that came of his habitation of Kirby's body. Phobius' getting used to Nanami would be trying enough, without it being under the added pressure of some violent confrontation. He hoped he was worrying for nothing.
