Oh wow. I was pronouncing most of your names wrong.

Well, glad that's cleared up then! Again, thanks for the welcome, all!

I'm planning on getting through the grading que in a... Timely-ish fashion so you all can have your goodies! Once that's done (or maybe somewhere in the middle of it), I'll be discussing something like a seasonal calender with Mirage. I'm not entirely sure if it will be a typical day bound layout or something else, but hopefully it'll be a useful tool for all of you in regards to plots and such!

Hello everyone! I realized I should have done this much sooner, but those of you who do not have jobs, this first part of the post is directed at you!

If you do not have a job added to your Storyteller Secrets thread (especially if you don't even have a Storyteller Secrets thread), please PM me with a request for your desired job. I would like to get these done and assigned as soon as possible (now that I'm thinking about it) so that you all have time to write some job threads to get seasonal wages. If you're not sure what jobs you qualify for, feel free to shoot me a PM with questions.

Sorry this took me so long to think of! I was skimming through the Request thread and realized half of you don't have your SS threads linked, and I thought... "Oh right! They don't have jobs." So. I would like to remedy that haha.

Of course, if you don't want a job, that is also totally fine, just remember that negative ledgers are very bad. If you have negative ledgers, please PM me and we can work on that together.

--

I would also like to take this time to just make an OOC post about language proficiency here. I noticed quite a few of you have Common as a basic language - which is totally fine and fits all of your characters' histories. However, if you take basic common, please do not write it as fluent. At basic, characters should have a limited (though operational) vocabulary and a grasp on syntax. PCs at this level of fluency should be presenting issues both with speech (grammar, pronouns, synonyms, idioms especially - all of these things will depend on the respective character and their native language) and with comprehension. At basic, understanding the gist of what is being said is fine, however implications, intricacies, and advanced abstract concepts that may not be clearly defined might cause issues.

These things, however, will take time to adjust to as they have not been previously addressed. I understand that it probably isn't want you're used to writing when you want to have your character speak, so as long as I see an effort to write at the PC's language proficiency, I'm not going to smite you for using a contraction here and there. Really, language barriers can be a huge tool to push characters towards development, color their understanding of others around them, and really be a powerful force in storytelling. All threads prior to this post do not need to be edited for language, I just want you all to be aware that from this point on, I will be expecting to see PCs played at their language proficiency. How exactly you want to go about doing that, however, is up to you! Have fun with it! Some of the most hilarious things I've ever heard have come from language miscommunication. Peanut butter is a pretty funny word when your friend pronounces the "ut" as "us". Heh.

So far, from what I've read, Alvadas is no slouch when it come to good writers. I think I've said this a lot, and I'll probably continue saying this, but I am very pleased with your individual skills at writing. It makes grading more enjoyable, and each of your quirks and techniques are fun to see how they trace back to your PC and you as a writer. Please continue to bear with me while I finish sorting out the grading que and all the previously un-addressed issues I find along the way. I want all of you to know that if I am correcting something in my notes or asking for changes, I am not upset with you. If anything at all, I am upset that you have not been told sooner. I want you to be successful storytellers in your own rights, and I am taking steps to better equip you for that, I hope.

If you do feel like I am being unfair or personally attacking you, first please know that that is not my intent. Second, please PM me and talk to me about it. I really want to have a good line of communication with all of you. If you have questions or frustrations, I want to hear them. I cannot help you if I don't know you need help, nor can I adjust my own way of handling things to better suit your needs if I don't know what those needs are.

Anyway, again, thank you guys for your patience! So far, I am very pleased with the characters I've interacted with so far, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better!

Hello again, Alvads!

The season is beginning to come to a close, and while you still have a whole month left, I just wanted to remind everyone who hasn't (though most of you have) to start on you job threads! I definitely would like to be awarding everyone their wages at the end of the season.

Good luck and swift pens to all of you!

As always, if any of you have questions or need anything from me at all (or want), just send a PM my way!

Hello again, Alvads!

So, the season is quickly coming to an end, and I have a few announcements/questions to give to you.

Firstly, I have been asking a lot from all of you, and I am very very happy with how understanding all of you have been. I'm so grateful you're all willing to work with me, and I've really enjoyed my interactions with you all so far! That being said, I'm going to ask just a little bit more, but hopefully this time it'll be good fun for the both of us!

I would like to know if any of you have any sort of desires in terms of moderated threads for the next season! I won't be doing a seasonal quest this spring, as I'm still settling in, but I am hoping to run at the very least three moderated threads with a max of two PCs in each. If you have something you've always wanted to do, but haven't had the ST support for, please don't hesitate to ask me! I can't, however, run gnosis threads, so if that's your desire, I'm happy to talk with you about it and see what I can do. Everything else, however, is totally open for grabs! I've finished... most of the calendar, and I'm also hoping that that'll be something fun for you all to delve into in the coming spring.

On the note of calendars: Please do PM me if your character has been doing anything of import to the city in both the prestigious and notorious connotations of the word. While I have been grading and reading through your threads, if there's something you feel your PC has really been contributing to in terms of city wide plots, I'd love to hear about it and (potentially) incorporate it into the calendars. Of course, I'd also like to just hear more about your own visions for your characters as well. If you have the time (and the knowledge of it, because I definitely know how it can be when you're like, "I'm not really sure what X is doing, because it's all just so crazy!") please let me know!

OK, with that done, I'll move on to my last little bit!

So. Magic. There are a couple wizards and a few mages in the city already, and that's great! I personally love magic. The city, however, isn't very fond of it. Starting in spring, there is going to be a little bit more of an emphasis of distrust and general poo-pooery of magic and its practitioners. This doesn't mean that it is going to be illegal to practice or have magic, but keep in mind through your threads that people should be treating you very differently if they realize you have magic (spiritism aside). The general consensus in regards to magic is that is cheapens illusions. Where a firebreather might create the sense that he's breathing fire, a reimancer just shoots out a ball of res. There's no true artistry or effort. This doesn't mean you can't get creative with your magic to hide and conceal it while still reaping the benefits of impressing people though. Really, this is less of a call to say, "Don't do magic, augh!" and more of a call to really embody the nature of Alvadas. Weave your spells into the city itself, keep people guessing, and really show me and the rest of the city what your wizards and mages are really capable of!

And, of course, avoid the Wilderwizard. He's been running around lately trying to initiate people into all sorts of craziness. (This is joke. Please do not actually write about the Wilderwizard. I will find you, and I will sternly talk to you.)

So that's that! I'm really looking forward to getting to work more with you all, and hopefully there is a similar sentiment among you? Maybe just one? Either way, may your thoughts fester within the confines of your skull to such an extent you have no choice but to let loose the full fury of your creativity onto the pixels of your respective screens!

Hello again, Alvads!

So: Here's what I have to talk about today!

Job Threads!
Please try to get these done by the end of the season. We have eleven days left to finish these, and I'm not fond on the idea of awarding wages for a placeholder. So if you can get those done with the highest priority, that would be tops. Really, tippy tops. For those of you who may not be sure what to do for your jobs, or are having a hard time figuring out what you might want to do, please send me a PM, and I'll write up a prompt (or prompts if you want even more lovely options) for you! I would prefer "job threads" to simply be the same sort of enjoyable story weaving I've already been reading, not a chore. Any way I can help to make them fun, I will do my best to do so!

Alrighty, with that out of the way, on to spring!

So we have a neat new location coming that will be linked to some seasonal events. There will be more of that next month, just wanted to give you a little taste (and to assure you all that I have been doing something).

As far as calendar events are, I've set up what I'd like to think is a pretty entertaining season! At current, I'm hoping there will be plenty of things to catch your interest and guide your own threading without my direct interventions, however this doesn't mean I don't want to be writing with you all. There are several things on the calendar that I'd be happy to run a few moderated threads over, or just a simple prompt or pop in if you'd prefer. However, there are lots of goodies to be had, so don't be surprised if you start getting little messages (beyond me either saying "No, don't do that." and "Wow, nice job!") and some looty-loot. Of course, goodies aren't a guarantee, but I would definitely like try to reward you all for completing events.

And onto moderated threads! Reysin, I have a quest in mind for you! I believe you were the only one who PM'd me about that, so you'll be at the top of my list for spring. Kuvarakh, I also have a quest for you! As for the rest of you, if you're interested, please don't hesitate to PM me with wants and desires, and I will see what I can do for you! For now, I won't be doing more than 3 moderated threads at a time, however I may be adjusting that limit as the season progresses. Just because I may be "full", please don't think I don't want to hear your ideas or work on your individual plots. I've had the pleasure of getting to know most of your characters through the grading (and CS snooping) I've done, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where you take them this coming season!

Finally, and I've said this a lot and I'll keep saying it until it isn't true any more, I am very, very proud of all of you, not just as writers, but players as well. When I find a problem or a discrepancy, you all have been exceedingly gracious and polite, and I can't thank you enough for that (though it seems I keep trying!). I have been very impressed with everyone's maturity and willingness to work with me. Keep it up guys, I couldn't have asked for a better set of players!

Hey, hey :)
I'm not going to be worried about job threads this season.
I've got more than enough money to cover LEs.
And I'm thrilled to think there may be some specifically crafted misfortunes to come my way. :D
