Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Tailen looked rather happy today and with good reason too, ever since he read about this place in an advertisement upon their arrival, he'd really been bugging his older brother for a visit here. Now of course it looked as though he was getting his wish, as they'd finally arrived at the front of the building. Their patio held a sure fine quality structure as the style just beckoned for visitors to come in and enjoy themselves, Byron started to wonder if the two were actually going to find a healer here at all, granted that the advertisement mentioned something about a "a cure for what ails you" as well. It could've very well been metaphorical granted that men and woman who drank used that to ease their sorrows and pain, and there could've been some sort of variety of drinks or something for every type of situation? The older brother shook his head, he honestly didn't quite understand the gist of it. Therefore after he'd managed to stall long enough, and with the additional prodding of his younger sibling, they both arrived and walked through the double doors to find themselves inside the premises.

The smell of herbs wafted through the air once they were inside as the place looked both stunning yet pleasing, almost everywhere in Riverfall they have visited has had something unique about them, and this place proved be no different in its effort to draw in the boys. "Wow! This place... is so cool!" Tai cheered with a bit of enthusiasm while they continued to look around for a moment, an uneasy look on Byron's face as he still felt unsure about this whole idea.

"Yeah, its pretty impressive alright. Still I don't know if anybody here is going to be able to help." He took notice of a couple people that appeared to be tending to the bar, one was a female while the other a male with definitive horns found from the side of his head. Byron knew well enough that anybody whose figure had such mystical form had to be an Ethaefal, off and on the boys had seen some in Lhavit from time to time. This one had a different feel about him compared to the others, granted he still had that mystic vibe to him of course, but there was something else that just tugged at Byron's spirit. He felt a strange innate desire to approach the fallen soul, to beckon with him and in turn share what hopes he had for his little brother. It'd immediately become unusual for the boy, yet at the same time he had to wonder and know, just what sort of person this Ethaefal was and could he actually manage to help out somehow?

"Come on Tai," Byron murmured as the younger brother followed with a bit of a sheepish expression, "Excuse me sir." The older brother called out to this man with a small but gentle smile on his face, as they soon reached the ivory marbled bar where he stood on the opposite side. "We're here looking for whoever is able to provide aid, somebody who knows about healing perhaps?" He wondered if that were a bit of a redundant question to ask given its advertisement, no doubt the bartenders here got that a lot when they had somebody in need of aid come search for them.

Chasing Shadows

Postby Caelum on November 20th, 2014, 11:46 pm

It was a slow afternoon at Alements. That was growing more and more rare as the reputation of the healing parlor as well as its proprietor burgeoned in the autumn wind. As the weather grew cooler and tempers shortened, fresh dangers seeming of late to spring out of every shadow, more and more people found themselves seeking temporary sanctuary or respite within the welcome of these walls. The incredible increase in business was a joyous thing, but it also meant that Caelum had begun to fall behind in several other areas. Today, he was attempting to improve his cooking skills while Elise manned the bar.

There was a bowl of freshly beheaded, shelled, and deveined shrimp sitting on the stretch of granite counter beside Caelum. It was the kelvic kitty cat Cadra who had taught him the basics of that preparation work, but despite her efforts and Caelum's good intentions, the shrimp was still a little bit mangled. For all of his mastery with a scalpel and his knowledge with daggers, the simple application of a paring knife still gave him problems. He suspected this was due to the fact that the majority of his existence here on Mizahar had been spent in poverty where food, not a necessity for him literally half the time, was rarely something he worried about.

Now Caelum wanted to serve food in addition to everything else he did at Alements, and his past self was probably laughing his butt off.

After thoroughly washing his hands at the sink, using a cake of hyssop scented soap and a great deal of fresh water, he grabbed a clean kitchen towel and aimed himself out the door to slide behind the bar. He put his head together with Elise to have a muttered and doubtless amusing conversation about what he was supposed to do next with the shrimp.

That was when the brothers Allestor walked in and immediately drew his attention.

Golden eyes performed a sweep, studying the strangers from top to bottom. Auburn hair spilled into his face, a rich and ember colored hue this season to defy the copper and gold of elegant horns. He wore his standard uniform of a plain, cream colored tunic, long sleeved shoved up, and a pair of bark brown leather pants. His boots were only half buckled up today and he wiped at his hands with a clean kitchen towel.

As the brothers approached, he raised his eyebrows with interest and a smile sprawled over his face with immeasurable charm. "You've found what you're seeking, friend. I'm Caelum, and this is my place."

His head tilted with curiosity as he took in both Byron and Tai, this time searching for evidence of an injury or an illness.

"I'm a doctor," he went on amiably and slapped the kitchen towel over the curve of a strong shoulder. "Among other things. You don't seem to be bleeding out at the moment --" Humor hinted in the corners of crinkling eyes. He lifted a hand and angled toward the kitchen door and the end of the marble bar. It was an invitation. "So why don't you join me in the kitchen rather than the infirmary, have a bite to eat, and tell me what ails you."

Chasing Shadows

Even if they'd encountered an Ethaefal on occasion back at home there still tended to be something unique and special about each and every single one, and this particular Eth they met was by all means no exception. With the warm greeting he provided them Byron found the horned being already an interesting soul, thus the memory of the man became imprinted in mind with the details of his physical aspects as well as personal characteristics. No doubt the man had to wonder just what exactly troubled the two brothers, as neither of them proved to have any sort of wound or injury present. This led the older brother to wonder though, while the proprietor of the establishment admitted he was a healer, just what exactly was he capable of in terms of medical treatment and the like?

"Yeah, a fortunate circumstance." Byron mused at the observation Caelum made, a smirk made at the awareness of the joke obviously made. The man took to invite them though for food in the kitchen, and while he hosted them with whatever he may have had, the boys would in turn share with him their story and how their searching led them here today. "Sure, I don't see the trouble in that." He agreed to the proposition along with a nudge on his brother's back, the notion to shepherd the younger sibling as they both followed Caelum further to the kitchen area. "By the way I'm Byron, its a pleasure to finally meet you." He added with courtesy present in his tone, he allowed his little brother to follow along with the introductions of course.

"I'm called Tailen, its nice to meet you!" When he spoke he seemed a bit more cheery than usual, his spirit raised a bit as he proved to look adventurous in their trip to the kitchen, a more curious and enthusiastic bounce in his step compared to the usual Tai the older brother knew. Byron figured that it had to do with the fact they probably found a lead of course, seeing as how they could've very well found somebody that could figure out just what exactly happened to wipe Tailen's memory. "This is a nice place you have by the way, has a very cozy feeling to it really."

"Yeah, I'll say. I honestly expected it to be more like a bar or tavern, but the fact you actually provide medical treatment is a nice touch." Byron shared in the complimentary praise, even if they had yet to discover whether or not Caelum could in fact help them. They had to at least applaud the man for owning a fine establishment, granted that it could've have been easy getting it up and running of course. Byron then decided to untie the lace of his cloak then, so that he could fold the red fabric over his shoulder while the two found a place to sit. "So, do you want us to get straight to the point? Or would you rather hear the whole story?" He figured that having the option would not only provide a bit of interest, but as well determine what could better serve for Caelum since he appeared able to help them out. While Byron waited to hear whatever choice would be made, he would also wonder what sort of food would be presented to feed them while the two shared their story.
