| I realize this is a longshot, but I have this character concept and looking around for where to launch it, I thought it might be a cooler idea to attach this character to another character rather than a city. I realize I'm asking a lot, too. Especially in trust. Nothing is more annoying than going out of your way to aid another player for them to ride off into the sunset. I am however extending the same trust. In the end, if anything comes from this it's probably based on sheer luck. I'm still gonna try my best. So this is Branimir: To Branimir, knowledge isn't just power. More importantly, knowledge is knowledge. Born with an insatiable curiosity for nearly everything and a driving hunger to understand not just what is happening but also why things happen, the pursuit of knowledge has been a driving, all-consuming passion. A passion so powerful and so dark that it often drives a wedge between him and other people. When he does things they conceive of as taboo or downright malicious they do not comprehend that all he seeks is understanding. In all fairness, neither does he comprehend their objections. Being used to negative reactions to his ravenous curiosity, Branimir at one point stopped trying to build lasting personal relationships with people. The kindness and compassion of others still allows these to grow sometimes, but Branimir tends to not see them for the treasures they are and is more likely to unwittingly exploit them to the brink of the other person's ability to give... then discard them and move on. Professional relationships, he tends to take somewhat better care of. Of all the things he understands, the understanding that he actually knows very little is both clearest and most maddening. That alone tends to ensure that he attempts to apply some amount of caution around those he wants to learn from or gain employ from. The sad truth is that he is in theory a fully functional social being. He simply values his pursuit of knowledge higher than the tender feelings of his fellow men and women. He is aware of this but finds himself utterly unwilling to compromise for the sake of some teary-eyed waif or angry landlord. Indeed it is his manic obsession with reading, research and putting his thoughts and assumptions -sometimes preternaturally brilliant, sometimes insanely outlandish and often a bit of both- to paper that allow others to tolerate him at all. Being around Branimir is a bit like watching a moth flirt with a candle flame it's been said: Watching an obsessive dance of attraction and rejection in which there are no winners, only survivors. Which may be a very astute observation. Branimir is a new character and I'd love to bring him into the world as someone's apprentice. I'm even somewhat open to what kind of apprentice, though I'd prefer something magical, but there's several other areas of study that would definitely interest him. I'd like to do this because I'm still a relatively new player who feels safe writing in Mizahar but is somewhat overwhelmed by the mass of information to be found on a lot of things. I thought having an IC filter in the form of another PC with both that PC and Branimir also profiting from the setup might be fun for everyone involved. I mean, who doesn't like having minions? I haven't fully fleshed out Branimir because I'm actually able to swing the concept a few ways without in my mind giving up the core idea of the character. In that way I could mold him in some way to the needs of a potential master. Within reason; I'm still very married to the basic personality. Are you a Magecrafter who'd like someone around who has some rudimentary smithing skills? I could bend the concept that way. Just need someone to keep the house clean? That might not fly. What's mostly open is what region or city he'd be in and maybe 10-26 points of skills. The rest will be reserved for 'his' skills. Some Writing and Copying as well as History and/or Architecture, the latter being his grandest passion. If I ever manage to play him for that long, the dream would be for him to construct houses that also have the properites of Magecrated items. But that's just the big stretch goal. For now I just want him to learn and grow. Actual details would probably have to be hashed out between myself and interested parties as I'm really not set on several aspects, right down to his race. Though on that I'm mostly debating between plain Human, Isur and Symenestra. Human being the default while both Isur and Symenestra would work well into his final backstory in my mind. Eypharian would work too, but not with a name like Branimir. ![]() Skills and city are very very open as mentioned above. Edit cause I ramble and don't bother with the important stuff it seems: Though what I'd ultimately look for in a master would probably be Auristics above all things. Some appropriate type of World Magic would also be cool. Probably Glyphing but again, very flexible. Architecture would be cool but that's Branimir's hobby more than anything else. History and Archaeology might be interesting but not required. But generally I'm up for anything that makes sense. Even Masonry or Construction or a creative trade in a pinch. If anything is unclear, just ask. I really want to see this work and I'm willing to do almost anything it takes short of paying for it! Please? Pleasepleaseplease? |
