Just a reminder for those who are looking for work in Syka.

The best option is to start your own business.

There are not really 'places' to work here in the city. City is a loose term. We have maybe one or two apprenticeships available at The Panacea for budding young healers, and that's about it. The Tavern might have one or two server/cook type jobs done. I was hoping someone would start a bar/tavern/medical clinic, but since that didn't have I had to create NPC driven ones. There's no jobs like scout, guide, guard, etc. That's mainly due to the fact that no one comes here to go anywhere else especially in the jungle.

The Founders will employ a few to mapmaker etc but those positions are filled unless PCs go inactive.

Your best course in creating a life in Syka is to have a craft and sell that craft to people that use it. We need Potters, Seamstresses, Weavers, etc. We have one full time Leatherworker already. I think we have a blacksmith too. Mages aren't going to get employed. Builders are. There might be work at the sawmill too pulling green chain or something like that.

I hope that helps your employment questions. I should start a list of who is employed where. So let me know on this thread what you are doing for a job here in Syka. That way people know whats taken in terms of jobs. I'll add employment to the character registry for next season to make it less confusing..

Karin is a shipwright with her own business. She builds small boats and does boat repairs. I haven't as yet finished the threads in which she builds the damn place though, so until they're actually done the location doesn't exist. Once I've made it IC, I'll submit the location OOCly.

Planning to be a weaver, once I get here. To clarify, are the options only to create a business or hire at an established place, or is it also acceptable to just be self-employed?

Miz isn't really set up to be self employed. If you are a weaver, you would sell your things to the Mercantile or you'd sell them out of your home or both. Either or its a business.

Don't make up locations. If you want a new one talk to me and I might approve it. I don't care if a past ST has approved it. Syka isn't located near anything that's populated except maybe a few beaches that Svefra moor on. Recently a player mentioned a "nearby village" when they registered. Is that on the link map? Nope. In fact Miz has zero villages outside the major cities if you've noticed. The outposts it does have indeed have been developed IC.

Then what can a mercenary do to earn miza in Syka? I remember in chat someone mentioning treasure hunting and selling what they found to the mercantile as a way to make a profit.

You have to get creative Xen. All jobs need to be ran by me. Many players here are learning trade skills to help the settlement. I'm not going to manifest treasure every time for you to sell to the Merc because who are they going to sell it too? One of the half dozen people here?

My own PC has no marketable skills so she's learning leatherworking to bring in income. I made it very clear opening Syka that normal jobs Luke guards, scouts, hunters, etc were going to be limited due to the size of the settlement.

Why not hold on to the treasure and sell it in one lump sum in Riverfall after a couple seasons? Delayed wages, essentially.
