Summer of 32nd.

It was getting warmer by the day, and today; it wasn't so muggy out. The crisp cool winds brushed through the clothing that Ferrin doned himself in this morning. Synas rays of bright gleaming light shown all about Syliras and the rest of Mizahar. Ferrin had his sword for protection and that was it weapon wise. Ser Xervos had explained to Ferrin that he didn't need his armor for prayers. So, he went along with it and had seemed it fit to just brandish his blade for now. Nothing wrong would happen, right? So what will go wrong...

"Your ready? Are you?" It was Ser Xervos, his tone was precarious. Though, Ferrin figured that the older man was getting nervous. The Knight wore armor and his weapons.

"Yes, it's my first day of doing this you know. What am I supposed to do really? I've never prayed before..." Ferrin said awkwardly.

"Don't be nervous." Cooed Ser Xervos with a polite smile. "I'll walk you through the process of praying Ferrin. Your father never showed you how?" He asked wearily. The two rounded a corner, Ferrin bumped into a lady and quickly stated his apology, the woman just walked on babbling about him being a bafoon and to watch where he was walking. Though, the woman obviously turned around the corner and Ferrin was glad that he couldn't hear her anymore.

"Alright, thank you Ser Xervos." Responded Ferrin politely. "Hey, is that it?" Asked Ferrin curiously pointing over at the building like an excited child.

"Yep, I believe so. The Temple of All Gods. Denizens from the Dyres family. They've been kind enough to introduce the Temple for the citizens of Syliras." Replied Ser Xervos.

Ferrin nodded and understood. Though, he was still quite unsure of the praying thing. He didn't know how to begin it or even how to end it. Even though, his patron just told him that he'll learn how to do it. "No... My father didn't teach me."

"What?" Asked Ser Xervos.

"He didn't teach me how to pray..." Ferrin admitted weakly. The squire looked down at the ground. Watching his feet Tao against the weathered stone.

"It's alright. We're here now, and I'll show you how. Don't worry." Said the Knight calmly. Ferrin looked up and Ser Xervos held the door open. "After you." With a nod, Ferrin walked in. Ser Xervos followed and the door closed behind them. "We can start as soon as your ready."

"Okay. So what do I do now?" Asked Ferrin politely. He unbelted his sword, Clivath and placed it on the nearest table.

"You kneel and speak to your God that you'll be willing to speak to. I'll go down the hall to give you whatever privacy you can get, okay?"

"Okay, I'll be fine with that. What am I really supposed to do-" he cut his words off as he just noticed his patron walking down the hall."Okay." He breathed out. Ferrin sat on an empty bench closer to his sword.

"Sylir. I pray to you. I seek your wisdom and knowledge[, I understand of how your all so busy. Though, I pray for your acknowledgement that I'm praying to you today. I have endured many things in my past, some things I will not ever forget, but I'm asking you to guide me through my future."

Ferrin heard footsteps and opened his eyes. "You won't be able to speak to the Gods like that, my friend."Ferrin turned.

"So, what am I supposed to do?"

"You've asked that earlier. First you'll need to clear your mind. Just relax."

Note: If Morian Devan is a free to use NPC I'll edit this if not... Then I'll use some random local NPC. :)

I wouldn't mind someone letting me know, thanks.

"What do I clear my mind of?" Asked Ferrin doubting his situation.

"Your focused on to many things. Your mind needs to be calm before you yourself can be relaxed."

"What do I call you?" Asked Ferrin slowly. Looking at the man.

"My name you ask?" Said the hooded figure. "Mind if I sit?" Ferrin nodded. "Thanks." He said slowly, pulling down the hood to reveal his dark cropped hair. "I'm Morian Devan. I don't think your patron knows much about praying..." Morian informed Ferrin. It kind of struck Ferrin as bovine to even talk like that about a Knight.

"That's not very nice you know. It's rude? Are you religious by any means?" Asked Ferrin curiously looking over at the man.

"Oh, indeed. I am." Chuckled Morian. Mr. Devan said eyed Ferrin carefully, scanning him up and down. "What's your name boy?" Asked the man.

"Ferrin. I'm a Squire..." He responded lightly. The Kenashian took a look around as if he thought someone was watching him. "Does it always feel... Weird in here?" Asked Ferrin awkwardly.

"Weird? The thing that your referring to as 'weird' is the energy that roams around within this Temple. It's the calming sensation of meditation and relaxing. That's what this is., Ferrin. It's not weird in any way. It's a really holy place. Since this Temple had been built, no one ever has stolen something from it. That proves of its pureness." Replied Mr. Devan seriously.

"Oh..." Ferrin spoke slowly, he looked down dismissing the fact of how pointless praying must be. "Do the Gods really hear me? When I speak?" Asked Ferrin.

"Oh they do indeed Ferrin. They do indeed. Who knows, maybe one day they'll respond."

"Respond?" Jumped Ferrin. "I've been just starting to get into religious beliefs, but do they really talk to you?" Admitted Ferrin slowly.

"Oh yes? You've heard of the Windoak? The great tree at one of the courtyards within the Stormhold Citadel?" Ferrin nodded. He knew of it, but not much. To be honest, he didn't really know anything about religion.

"I know of it..." He admitted slowly watching Mr. Devan closely.

"Well, at least you have that much." Affirmed Morian. The hooded man looked out to one of the windows with multiple colors draped over the glass. "It's important to know Ferrin."

"Important to know what?!" Exclaimed a commanding voice that erupted behind the two. It was Ser Xervos, Ferrin turned to discover that fact. He was alone. "Ferrin, I thought you were praying. Paying your respect to the Gods, the ones you believe to follow..." The Knight said slowly.

"Well, he was." Admitted Morian. "Though, I'm talking him through the process."

"There really isn't one..." Replied Ser Xervos ignorantly. "I know... It's not hard to pray." Chuckled Ser Xervos.

"Nope it's not." Agreed Mr. Devan.

"Alright." Said Ferrin nodding his understanding.

"Here. Now we can maybe get something started for once." Said Ser Xervos. "I'll sit next to you." The Knight said.

"Alright. I can handle that." Replied Ferrin.

"Good, I'll be leaving now. I have some... Important matters to attend to."

"Alright, since you've done it. I can do it right?" Asjed Ferrin to the Knight. Ferrin listened intently to what Ser Xervos, his patron was praying for. He did believe it appears, and Mr. Devan had left, Ferrin didn't know where to, but it must've involved with private matters.

"It's not hard my boy. It really isn't." Replied his patron politely. The man nodded and observed Ferrin curiously. "Why are you nervous?" He asks.

"Nervous?" The squire croaked. "I'm not-" "I'm not nervous." Replied Ferrin wearly.

"It's alright my boy. I'll be right here if you need me, no backing out now. You do want to become a knight right? Well, you'll need to know a few things or two about religion." Said the Knight simply.

"Okay, I believe I can do it. I know what I must seek from the Gods. Though, I'm not sure of which God to talk to?" Asked Ferrin.

"No stalling, just get on with it my boy. Really come on now." Responded Ser Xervos, he acted a bit impatient. Ferrin sighed.

"Fine.." The squire agreed.

"Good, now actually attempt to pray here."

"Alright." Ferrin took another sigh and looked around, it wasn't empty, the Temple, it was just quiet. Ferrin wondered if he'll interrupt the stillness that's within.

"I'd like to confess. It's obviously my first time doing this. For those of whom listening." Ferrin took in another breath before continuing. Ser Xervos was quiet and observed the room around him trying to avoid eye contact with Ferrin at the moment. "Things have been quite rough for me lately. I wish that soon things will be better for me and my reputation as a squire will be recognized. I'm hoping for more good to come my way. It might seem a bit greedy of me, but through all that I've been in, I think I could deserve something... " Ferrin looked down, his face flushed a bright red.

There was a hand on his shoulder. It was Ser Xervos. "Well, that's a start. Here's your blade, I think we can call this done for today. Perhaps you've learned a few things or two? Sylir is a very busy man, andoverall so is all the other Gods. Soon, I can tell you more of it. Okay. Grab your sword and let's get a move on." Said the Knight politely, but in a more orderly manner.

Ferrin nodded, stands up and heads over to his short broadsword, Clivath, belts it to his waist and heads out. Following behind his patron, he takes one hard glance back to remember today. He'll definitely come back to pray some time again. He closed the doors behind him and left the building.

Grading Complete

Please edit your grade request thread so that it's obvious that it's been graded. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions/problems with your grade.

Name: Ferrin

XP Award:
  • Socialisation 2
  • Philosophy 1
  • Rhetoric 1
Lore:
  • Syliras Location: Temple of All Gods
  • Morian Devan: Religious Man
  • Try to clear your mind when praying

Shield Points: +1 Thread with Patron

Notes:I couldn't really give you anything to do with religion as no gods were mentioned until the very end. A nice idea for a thread, but perhaps Ferrin actually needs a specific god to focus on to actually get somewhere with prayer. I hope you enjoy your grades.
