The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

A man's trust in soldiers

17th of Summer 518AV

Frequenting the Shinyama Pavilion wasn't at all part of his daily routine. Quite the contrary. In spite of having unfathomable respect for those who kept the city safe, Raeyn preferred to leave them to it. The only exception was when he couldn't find this dearest friend at the seclusion of the hot springs. A favoured destination of their where the two men could escape the hustle and bustle of the city and delight in some relaxed banter, just like the old times.

And as of late, even though the Inarta wouldn't dare admitting it, he needed friends. The unnerving whispering in his head started to intensify. No longer was it just the murmours of his name. It - what ever this 'it' might have been - now spoke full words, sentences even. And what it was saying was furthest from what Raeyn liked to hear. He was not one for getting his hands dirty unless it involved the practice of magic of the hunting of rabbits for supper. Having grown up a sheltered existence in a loving family lead the man's stomach to churn at the mere mention of spilling human blood.

As he passed Kagaya which a more of less ignored not of reverence in the pavilion hallways, those stomach churning requests was preciselly what he heard.

"So many weapons in this place. Wouldn't it be lovely to see them plunged into someone's chest?"

Raeyn shook his head, pale and disturbed at the mere thought. "It's just your imagination." he hummed beneath his breath as he swung open the door to investigate one of the training rooms, hoping for a familiar face to smile back at him once he entered. But between dummies of straw and wood and rack of training weapons, his eyes coduln't find the familiar mop of black hair.

For a moment Raeyn stood there, certainly looking quite peculiar wrapped up in his own thought. He was neither fine and frail, nor exceptionally muscular, yet his frame was clad in the most exquisitely cleaned and richly coloured robes. A rabbit fur lined cloak draped over his shoulders, keeping out this summer's chill. He was quite the refined presence with a face of somewhat androgynous beauty, disgruntled however by whatever turmoil churned behind the eyes. The Inarta ran his fingers though his hair, allowing long strands of white and red to fall onto his shoulders, revealing just for a moment a path of snow white skin that lined his hair line, matching the crescent beneath his eye. His left arm, albeit no longer in a sling, still seemed to retain the muscular memory of the painful event as it settled at the height of his stomach.

A man's trust in soldiers

On his way to the training room of the Pavillion, A place where the citizens could freely train and to take lessons from the Shinya or solo, he was on his way to train with something new today, something sharp and quicker to draw than his Sword, or maybe something long range. A thought occurred, Perhaps both, a dagger would be a good idea, it could be used for throwing or parrying, quick cuts slashes, it all sounded good on paper but he needed some actual practice with it.

Walking into the unit he saw someone just standing there red-haired and a beautiful face, he was caught off-guard by them just standing there. He spoke out in a voice as cool as ice.

"Stranger, are you okay ? " He approached slowly from behind as he examined his face he looked the face of the stranger over, he honestly couldn't tell if this was a man or a woman but they certainly looked beautiful. "You look lost, are you looking for something? "

The stranger startled him. Before his mind had even the chance of coming to terms with the absence of the man he was looking for, Raeyn's muscles reacted. He jumped back, finding himself staring at the soldier wide eyed and with his back pressed against the door frame. His heart pounded. So wrapped up in his own musings was he, that he hadn't heard the footsteps creeping up on him.

Raeyn breathed a sigh of relief, as his eyes settled on an unfamiliar face. Perhaps he was a stranger; but a stranger was still better than horrors unknown. "I... er... my apologies. I was just looking for a friend but he doesn't seem to be here at this time. I beg your pardon for being in your way."

Nodding his head in a sign on respect, Raeyn shifted out of the way of the open door, assuming that the soldier had been heading for the training room. Deep in his heart he prayed that this encounter would be over quickly. To say that he detested social interactions with strangers was to put it lightly. The uncertainty of how the other would react, the awkwardness of finding the right words. In that moment there was little more than blank stares between the men and indeed Raeyn intended on keeping it that way.

Much like most sane folk of Lhavit origin, Raeyn too bore a certain reverence for the city's sworn protectors. As the daredevil that he was, who often ventured out past the city gates, the alchemist knew much of the horrors that lurked in the forests of the Misty peaks. The shinya were the only true wall between those horrors and citizens much as himself who wished for nothing more than to grow old in peace and die, leaving a family legacy behind. Granted Raeyn's imagined legacy was a tad more ambitious than most.

"I need no assistance in the search." he added, jumping to the assumption that the seeker was eventually going to offer it. Such was Raeyn's luck that in spite of wishing for nothing more than to go about his day as a one man island, someone would always poke their nose into his business. Then again assumptions were just that; assumptions. "I'm almost certain you have far more pressing tasks at hand."
