Dimitri's mood continued to sour. Everything had been going perfectly until Jaelyn butted in. Then she continued to follow him, to nag at him as he searched for Flick. He was feeling a very unknightly anger within him. What did it matter to her what he did? He would be a knight before her, he was just as dedicated, if not more so. What right did she have when his training had brought him further. No one had ever questioned his work ethic or training before.
He stopped and turned aggressively toward Jaelyn, his anger finding a foothold. "I am going to be a Knight, I'm going to take care of her. All Knights have a family somewhere, and I'm wanting mine. I've trained hard every day of my life, broke my body down and built it back up, and now that I am close to both of my goals, Knighthood and a family, a friend of mine shows up and tell me it's wrong."
His anger continued to grow and fester, perhaps a trait inherited from his notoriously fiery mother. He continued, a bit louder now, "Well you are the one in the wrong Jaelyn. You want the same things I do, but unlike me, you aren't capable of achieving both together. I on the other hand will become a Knight and head of my family while you are still 'playing' squire. I considered you my friend. I don't know what to think now."
He started to turn to leave, regretting slightly his barbed words but refusing to apologize for them. His goals came before his friendship with Jaelyn.
