Eanos

Ros was hard at word engraving a particularly intricate design on the cross hilt of a decorative Longsword when an underling approached him, alerting him to the visitor awaiting him. The Isur waved him off, concentrating on his work. It was several minutes before the Owner/Operator of the Ironworks was able to peel himself away from the project and address the visitor.

The gruff Isur hurried over to the counter, his eyes brightening when he saw that his visitor was an Isurian. Perhaps he could finally round up some reliable help. Only in a perfect world...

"Ahhh. A Pitrius." He said in a deep, commanding voice, "Rare to see outside Kalea. What can I do for ya?"

Time wasted waiting would ordinarily have irked the already irritable Isurian but in this case he was waiting for one of his own, and for that different standards applied since an Isurian was always busy and work sometimes could not be put aside at a moments notice.

The sight of his fellow brightened his day and brought a smile to his face.

"No rarer I think than to find you here; the master of mine and forge. My name is Eanos and I seek to further my skills in metal working. I was hoping that you might have a place for me here. I have some skill in smithing, but just what they teach the youngsters back home and I have heard that this is the place where an Isur can continue his training." It was fair to say that since he'd come all this way, he had more than just a hope, but until it was arranged then nothing was certain and reliance upon rumour was dangerous indeed.

Eanos

"I suppose so." he said, considering the concept. He had spent so long in Syliras, that he forgot how Isur felt about leaving. Nevertheless, he was a permanent fixture in Syliras now.

A grin erupted on Ros' face when the Isurian inquired about work. "Ahh! I'm glad that's what you're here for!" Then Ros spewed forth a speech at the speed of life. "The Ironworks have been as busy as ever and I've been having to run around this place night and day to get it all done. My new hires have abandoned their work without notice and I am swamped."

Ros abruptly stopped to calm himself. "I suppose we should start with the introductions. I am Ros Vizerian." He held out his hand.

Eanos relaxed, muscles he didn't know that were tense unkinking at the way that his tentative inquiry was recieved and a broad smile erupted on his face as he reached to take the offered hand and to grip it firmly.

"Roz Vizerian, it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Eanos Swiftand," he did not give his clan for of course Roz had already deduced it from his arm.

"That is great news," he said eager to get to work once more with metal and even though he had only just walked into the city he was keen to get started on it. "I can start now if you need me, but first what are you offering? I have some training in weapon smithing as well as blacksmithing and I have studied some auristics, though I don't know if you have a need for that."

"Excellent!" Replied Ros, just a little too excited. "Well, let me give you the run down of the job. The pay is 8 mizas a day. And that's for a hard days work. Not some half-arsed work. When you're here, you give me everything you've got. Feel free to take a day or two off every 7 or 8 days, but remember that a day off means no pay. An' if you want, you can order materials at our costs for your own personal projects, but you can only use the forges for that stuff after hours. Ros smiled, "You got any questions?"

The smith made Eanos laugh, for clearly he'd had to deal far too long with humans and other races who'd slack if they had the chance.

"I didn't walk as far as I did just to slack off when I got here," he said with a smile. "I came here because you are not specialised and so I can have the chance to learn a number of skills. I'm going to use every moment to put those skills into practice so don't worry about not getting every copper of what you'll be paying me."

He had only two questions, "when can I start and do you have somewhere I can stuff a mattress? I'd prefer to stay close to the work so I can do some experimenting in my own time." He really had little interest in socialising, not here away from his own people; he was here to learn and that was what he would do. When he wasn't learning about metal then he'd be learning about other things, and some of that might require some strategic bridge building, but that would be purposeful not simply to waste valuable time.

[Syliras Location] The Ironworks

Postby Rhuryc on August 3rd, 2010, 5:29 am

OOCI'm self modding this purchase due to the STs busy schedule. If this is a problem I apologize in advance and will do what I can to rectify this error.

17th Day of Summer, 510 AV

Rhuryc always felt strange when he visited the forge in an official capacity. He was here almost every day, but his path always brought him through one of the side entrances and right to his master's anvil where his activities involved hitting things with a hammer. And cold, hard drudgery. What was worse remained Ros himself. He met the men once before, years ago when he had first showed up at the forge. His father had known the man - after all, the Naravane family had been smiths inside Syliras for at least two generations, three now, but he was a legend among the community and his very presence was enough to send the apprentices into a scramble. Nevertheless, Rhuryc approached the clattering and clang of the main smithy and waited, patiently, for someone to finish their activities. He knew that interrupting metal once heated would ruin some poor man's product.

When the opportunity finally arrived Rhuryc stepped in with a quick hand and drew the attention of an apprentice. "Would you mind fetching Ros for me? I need to place an order." He spoke with a light tone, hoping that the uncustomary form for a request would be disregarded due to his station. With a curt nod, Rhuryc placed his hands inside the pockets of his coat and busied himself with a few observations, mostly going over some of the products that had been left to cool by the air. Maybe he'd even get a discount. Doubtful.

The conversation with the Master Smith was simple. In fact, it was much less confrontational than he imagined. There was a brief exchange where Rhuryc requested the items in question, a large, steel shield, a sharpening stone - one that the weapon smiths used for regular maintenance on individual blades - and a large, if rustic, set of leather armor. While the Smith gave the apprentice a few quizzical looks the deal went down without a hitch. Rhuryc found himself paying for the necessities at standard price, much too unwilling to haggle. Armored, he went off with a somewhat satisfied poise. Why had he even thought it would be an issue?

Items Purchased :
  • Large Shield, Steel (30gm)
  • Personal Sharpening Stone (10gm)
  • Leather Armor (10gm)
Total Spent = 50gm.

[Syliras Location] The Ironworks

Postby Grayzdo Briety on August 28th, 2010, 7:10 pm

15th Day of Summer 510 AV

The sparks in the air flew from anvils were heated metal was being crushed. They had a particular smell or maybe it was the smell of the smoke from the fires of the forge. He entered in and looked around a bit amazed at the process. Hopefully one day he'd own this place he thought. He looked around and then approached the owner asking if he was looking for a apprentice.

[Syliras Location] The Ironworks

Postby Gareth on September 13th, 2010, 3:40 am

73rd of summer, 510 AV.

Gareth pushed open the door, stepping into the forge, his cloak wrapped around him. He stepped quickly towards the counter, and browsed through the wares.
A raised eyebrow, as Gareth quickly chose a few daggers and a longsword, a smirk playing along his lips. This place was a treasure trove. His nimble hands moved quickly, as he selected a pair of wrist razors, along with a sword gauntlet, and moved quickly to the counter, motioning to his chosen purchases. With barely a hesitation, he placed the Mizas onto the counter and left, his new weapons tucked into his bag.

(Things purchased, 4 daggers, 1 longsword, 2 wrist razors and 1 sword gauntlet. total Mizas paid, 198)

[Syliras Location] The Ironworks

Postby Jilitse on September 15th, 2010, 3:30 am

Razor-sharp weapon
Sometime during Summer 510 AV
(grandfathered with permission from Dusk)

Jilitse the Nuit was defenseless both in physical and magical combat. Truth be told she didn't have any offensive skill at all. The concept of violence did not appeal to her very well. However, she had come across threats to her life - most of which she narrowly escaped through the form of help from kind random strangers. Not about to push her luck to survive, Jilitse decided - an quite unrighteous so - that she needed a weapon in order to protect herself.

None of the usual armor and weapon seemed to match a Nuit. Truth be told, a Nuit was not supposed to carry a weapon, after all. She took a sickle for 6 gm more out of a whim than an actual choice. Peasants used it both as a farming tool and a weapon. The shopkeeper did not bother to ask her why and what the purchase was for.

She left the Ironworks contented, and tucked her new weapon inside her cloak.

II. The Night the Watchtowers Cried

I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common woman with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough.
