Sorry I haven't been around much -- I'm in a 2 week exam period, and I'll be done next Friday (at which point I will catch up on everything Miza!). Thanks for your patience, you guys, and especially my AS's, are awesome!

Being Thankful

We have our ups and downs. We have our dramas. We have our disputes, snide comments, rage quitting, and utterly ridiculously assholes. BUT, we have our Mizahar.

I think there's been a ton of negativity lately, and fine, I'm sure it happens on all websites, but lets just stop and look around us. We all come here to write. We come here to dream. We come here to create. Many of us have friends here. We don't pay for the privilege. No one is holding us at gunpoint and forcing us to come to Mizahar. The website is NOT a chore, unless you make it so.

There are a million and one roleplay sites out there, but NONE match up to Mizahar. We have something special. Call it a spark. Call it a soul. Call it what you want. We have a community like no other. We have people from all walks of life, and from all parts of the world. We have students, shop workers, IT gurus, delivery drivers, librarians. We have professional writers, we have mums, dads, and everything in between. ALL of us brings something different to the table. We might not all be grammar and spelling experts, but what we do bring is imagination and a desire to write and craft and tell stories.

We get lost in the drama and disputes, and we forget what's right under our nose. Mizahar is magical. It's like a microcosm of everything the world is about: hopes, dreams, a desire to learn, to progress, and to build.

Let there be no misconceptions. We are human. We bring our views and discourses to the table, whether we choose to or not. But none of it matters, when we just remember the magic. When we be thankful we have this haven for our wandering minds.

I'll toast to that.

This PC has the Blight gnosis. As such, you as a player need to be aware of what that consists of. Wrenmae has an invisible aura that amplifies sickness and disease. Wounds may become infected, small sneezes may become coughing, and a slight fever may become more serious. A nuit's body will also break down faster in the presence of the Blight. These effects may not be immediate, but within the few days following your encounter, the symptoms will manifest. Some sooner than others. I cannot control your character, so creativity will be left up to you. Best wishes and stay healthy!

Special shoutout to Fallon for my new CS

Explosions!

I was talking to my fiancee earlier this evening when she told me to look out of the window. I did, and saw black smoke everywhere. My Facebook news feed was awash with photos and status'.

ImageI live near an industrial estate, and a scrapyard there has gone up in flames. Lots of gas canisters have compounded the problem, and I can hear explosions from my room.

The thing that's worrying is that Michelle's (my fiancee) parents own a factory on the same road as the fire. The smoke is beginning to fill the sky, and the fire's pretty major. Her dad drove down there but they can't get near the place. That factory is their livelihood -- they've literally spent their whole lives building up. I'm praying the fire doesn't ruin their place.

They've had a rough time recently, and that would seriously destroy them. I can still hear bangs so I'm not sure what's happening.

This was the scene over town earlier. It's kind of beautiful in a weirdly morbid and devastating way. Fire is the destroyer. It brings change, it clears the ground for new things. It also reminds us of the fragility of our world, and how nature can quickly take it away.

Image

Update: They've evacuated around the fire, and said it's gotten out of control so it could take all night to put out. Also, Michelle's Dad thinks it wouldn't be so bad because they'd get new machinery on insurance!

A Failure?

I debated posting this. I don't want to look like I'm throwing some sort of tantrum, but this is how I honestly feel. I'm having messages from all directions. I'm having people tell me we should apologise to the game as a domain. I'm having people tell me how Zeltiva should be.

Frankly, I feel like a failure right now. I feel like people think I've ruined Zeltiva, I've damaged the game, hogged the player based, and sent Liminal's vision crashing and burning.

I'm happy to change stuff. I'm happy to try and make my domain fit its "theme" truthfully. But it upsets me. It really does. And I'm only being honest, because as Jen would say, I feel "butthurt" over the whole thing. I wonder how far people think I've truly strayed from the vision and how much damage I've caused?

And I'm waiting for annoyance from players too, since we're going to be changing stuff with the University in Zeltiva, that will effect most of the students in it.

I feel a bit helpless at the moment, and it doesn't help I've been working 10 hour shifts to cover off holiday at work and dealing with full system failure 2 days in a row. I'm tired and grumpy. I hope I feel better in a few days.
