Taking A Break From Riverfall For A Moment...
Just to post some stats!
August is swiftly approaching. It's our anniversary date. We'll be three this year, I think? I know what some of my goals for the next year are going to be and where I want to have Mizahar in terms of activity and RP Excellence. I think we're headed towards my goals like a freight train barreling out of control. It's all due to the lovely players here. We have one of the best communities I've ever seen. I don't think I say "THANK YOU" and "YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME" enough, but you are. You really are. All the people that are here and have stuck with us through our rise in the RPG world deserve a lot of backslapping and hugging. Here's some fun facts:

I'm honestly not sure why we are doing so fantastic. About 99% of our new players say it is our Theme and our Races and activity. I personally think its the community. We don't always get along, but we always manage to write some fantastic stuff. That's the important thing really. And its kinda what I wanted to say about moderating a city.
I love city building. I love taking a place that needs a little TLC and fixing it up. I started on Mizahar with Syliras but honestly it doesn't look as good as it could because I didn't have all the fantastic code Tarot has in now back when I was doing development. Wind Reach is incredible and has an incredible mistress that just keeps adding and adding to it. I couldn't be more delighted to have Jules running things there. I just want to hug her daily - I know you do too! (Have you seen the newest singing video?)
And then there's Riverfall. I never meant to mod the land of the Akalaks with all their complex problems and all their struggles, but I have a pc there. And when you have a PC somewhere, you notice all the little things that should get done that don't get done. And so I left Wind Reach in Jules' hands and moved to Riverfall to take care of some business. Its been an absolute moderating joy.
The people there are amazing. How? Well they try. They REALLY TRY to write in a way that's interesting and thought provoking. They work within the theme and incorporate their issues with the issues the theme presents in a very positive way. We get new players daily, and they always seem to be welcomed by the older players and that's really important.
I can't stop building locations. I just can't. The newest I'm excited about is the
Door of Mysteries. I'm going to take PC's to places that will make your head spin from that location, getting Paonna and Raiha to be my guinea pigs. They'll love it too I hope, just as much as I do.
I love the way RF looks. I want to say I'm proud, but that's not really the way it manifests in me. I think its more that I'm relieved that Riverfall looks the way it does because now I think it comes off as truly the beauty I pictured it to be. As a writer and designer, it is something of a goal and a challenge - and every artist knows this - to get a thing your picturing in your head out onto paper. I want people to really understand the city - if they read the OOC and IC guides - and know it as I do. Riverfall has multiple dimensions and exists on multiple levels. I wanted the Akalak to be deeply spiritual, filled with interesting sideplots, and very well developed in their culture and lore. Working on RF is an act of love. Its an obsession currently, so much so its hard for me to peel away and post for my PC.
And I just hope other storytellers fall in love with their domains as much as I have. I'm truly in love with the city and I hope it shows.
