I am very very very skeptical of this. Game of Thrones is good but it's not as good as the book. I am going to be critical, perhaps overly so, of whatever TV show they make of name of the wind. It's my favorite series. I dare say ill ruin it for myself a bit becuase of that. It'll be my own fault.

Maybe if I hear enough good things about the writer and if Pat is involved in the show... Maybe. I watch Pat deal with Shane when he was making The Name of the Wind playing cards and he was so hands on... Yeah if Pat is involved with the script I might be okay with it. He wouldn't let anything go wrong.

As far as I know, Pat’s not a screenwriter. He’ll definitely have to work in conjunction with someone who has the chops, though Eric might able to smooth that out himself. Bottom line, yeah, Pat will need to be hands on for it to be any good.

Interesting factoid – Pat made a big fuss over what Fox did to Whedon. Now it’s Fox who’s optioned his book. Makes me curious. I feel like there’s a story there.

That's where I'm torn. Between giving it a shot and not watching it at all. I don't know! The choices!

I agree with the fact that it can’t be as good, but I’m not the sort of person who looks at (most) adaptions and feel they’ve ruined the book for me. Novels, television, and movies require drastically different stylistic approaches, et cetera, so what I try (and sometimes fail) to do is to enjoy the adaption for its own beauty versus in comparison to the original format.

I think it was Warren Ellis who wrote an article a few years back where he opined that hating an adaption based on what it is not is wrong. It needs to be hated or adored based purely on what it is.

I don’t know if I one hundred percent agree with him, but I like the idea; and I will absolutely watch The Name of the Wind on t.v. if it ever gets greenlit.

My people- this is sudden because I had dates wrong and I thought I didn't leave back to Cali till NEXT Wednesday but alas it is today. I am boarding in 35 minutes and I will try to be around as best I can but I won't be landing till 9 PM pst.

Also I have a two hour layover in Chicago. Ew.
