Sei watched him over for a while before he spoke, "I'm beginning to think you have no physical strength..." I'm beginning to think that you have no brain. The Kelvic stepped back before charging forward, jabbing forward lightly with his weapon. Roderick shifted about so his shield moved the blow aside with a loud scrape. As Sei flexed his arm the hunter readjusted himself, then looked up in time to see the Kelvic's blade coming at his head.
Stepping quickly away and bringing his shield up over his head, he heard the clanging of metal on metal, feeling all the muscles in his arm shudder and twitch. He brought the shield, ringing like a bell, back down to his side to protect himself. The effort of moving it around was beginning to put a strain on his arm; already he felt it becoming numb and sore from the unfamiliar weight it was holding.
Making a testing blow towards his opponent, the hunter made a quick slash at the Kelvic's shield to try and knock it away, bringing it back towards Sei's sword to keep that aside, then pushed his arm outwards, hopefully towards an exposed chest. Done with that he moved back to defend himself, gritting his teeth as he felt fingers of pain clawing their way up his spine. "Curse this damp..." He was surprised when he realized he'd just spoken in Pavi - the language of the Drykas. During his trip from Zeltiva he'd met a Drykas and traveled together with her for a time; during their journey he'd picked up some of the words they used - but the gestures. Every word seemed to have at least two different meanings; there was training - then there was training. All throughout their trip he'd suffered through several damp nights, shivering in the chill while his back ached; that must have been where he remembered the phrase from. He could be ever so cheerful at times.
Shaking off the memories Roderick straightened himself and held his shield in place, readying his sword arm so he could thrust forward with it if he needed to. The weight was steadily building as his arms weakened, but he wasn't going to give up now. Setting his mouth in a line he kept his arms up. |
