Sei laughed hardily. "Your a hardy little bastard arentcha'?" He said. He charged and jabbed his sword for Rods' stomach. He could feel the vibration of the blade, and it tingled his arm. He swirled around to the right, and swung the blade around, gaining momentum, and slashed at Roderick. "YAAAAAAH!" He exclaimed. He stepped back, the vibration stinging his arms. He charged Rod, and brought the hilt of the sword to his sword to Rods chest. He backed away and used his shield to push Roderick back.

"C'mon, you have to do better than that!"

[Fighter Pit]Just a Friendly Spar?

Charging Sei jabbed his sword at Roderick's gut; the hunter managed to bring his shield up in time to knock it away, feeling the shudder in his arm as the blow impacted on the dented steel - heard the ringing of the metal. Arm tingling, he turned about in time to stop the Kelvic's next attack, blocking with his sword. The parry was awkward and hurried; the force behind the attack unbalanced him, making him stumble away, which saved him from a pommel strike to the chest. Feeling the steel of the Kelvic's shield smacking against his ribs, he moved back further from the force of it, shifting his fingers about the hilt of his own weapon and bringing his shield up to guard himself; its bulk felt more than a little on his arm and he felt the effect it was having on his arm.

"C'mon, you have to do better than that!"

"Do you ever stop mewling?" Roderick smirked and swung his sword forward diagonally, aiming to knock his opponent's shield aside, then slam himself shield first into Sei, hoping the Kelvic would be slightly off balance so he could knock him to the floor. Regardless of what happened he'd take a few steps back to stay out of range of Tendo's blade.

Sei took a step back when Roderick charged, allowing a better hold when Rod tried to knock him off balance, and was still pushed back by Rods shield. He took the offensive, and brought the blade flat to Rodericks' side. "Me? Stop mewling? Never." He joked, jabbing the blade tip for his opponents' stomach. The clang of steel was hurting his ears, and his arms were numb from the constant vibration of his sword. He went in with the sword hilt, and went for Rodericks' arm. If he hit the right part of the arm, Rodericks' arm would cramp, causing him to drop the sword, and would follow-up with a shield bash to the stomach. He took a step back, and waited for Rods reaction.

[Fighter Pit]Just a Friendly Spar?

Sei took a step back as Roderick charged, preparing himself for the clash so he wouldn't be smashed to the floor. The impact still set him reeling backwards. Feeling the flat of his opponent's blade against his side, the hunter backed off, "Me? Stop mewling? Never." Sei joked, thrusting his sword forwards, aimed at his friend's gut. Stepping away again, it scraped along the Zeltivan's shield slightly as he took a little too long stepped away from it. Wavering slightly from the strike, Roderick straightened his shield arm and prepared for any more attacks that might be coming his way.

Seeing the next move Sei made, the hunter tried to avoid it, stepping away while swinging his sword out to catch the Kelvic beneath his guard. Before his strike could land he felt the pommel of Sei's sword come crashing down into his arm, forcing a pained shout from his mouth. Feeling his strike waver, he forced more strength into it as his arm throbbed and spasmed. The taste of blood coated his tongue and his head still rung with the memory of the strike he'd taken from Sei. Every movement sent razors across his skin, cutting through to the flesh below; when the pain subsided a dull throb remained as a reminder. Shaking the pains away he brought his shield back into place, trying to condition himself into doing it without thinking. As with anything, practice would save him where skill wouldn't.

Sei waited for Roderick to regain his strength, but frowned when Roderick yelped. He looked at Roderick blankly, and waited several moments to let Rod calm down. He looked him over, and waited a few moments more before he spoke. "I'm beginning to think that you have no physical strength..." He said bluntly. He took another step back, and charged Roderick slowly. He stepped forward, and gave the sword a light thrust. He stepped back, and flexed his arm, forcing out the numbness, and stepped forward to bring the blade flat to his head. He jumped back, and waited for Rodericks' body to catch up.

[Fighter Pit]Just a Friendly Spar?

Sei watched him over for a while before he spoke, "I'm beginning to think you have no physical strength..." I'm beginning to think that you have no brain.
The Kelvic stepped back before charging forward, jabbing forward lightly with his weapon. Roderick shifted about so his shield moved the blow aside with a loud scrape. As Sei flexed his arm the hunter readjusted himself, then looked up in time to see the Kelvic's blade coming at his head.

Stepping quickly away and bringing his shield up over his head, he heard the clanging of metal on metal, feeling all the muscles in his arm shudder and twitch. He brought the shield, ringing like a bell, back down to his side to protect himself. The effort of moving it around was beginning to put a strain on his arm; already he felt it becoming numb and sore from the unfamiliar weight it was holding.

Making a testing blow towards his opponent, the hunter made a quick slash at the Kelvic's shield to try and knock it away, bringing it back towards Sei's sword to keep that aside, then pushed his arm outwards, hopefully towards an exposed chest. Done with that he moved back to defend himself, gritting his teeth as he felt fingers of pain clawing their way up his spine.

"Curse this damp..."
He was surprised when he realized he'd just spoken in Pavi - the language of the Drykas. During his trip from Zeltiva he'd met a Drykas and traveled together with her for a time; during their journey he'd picked up some of the words they used - but the gestures. Every word seemed to have at least two different meanings; there was training - then there was training. All throughout their trip he'd suffered through several damp nights, shivering in the chill while his back ached; that must have been where he remembered the phrase from. He could be ever so cheerful at times.

Shaking off the memories Roderick straightened himself and held his shield in place, readying his sword arm so he could thrust forward with it if he needed to. The weight was steadily building as his arms weakened, but he wasn't going to give up now. Setting his mouth in a line he kept his arms up.

[Fighter Pit]Just a Friendly Spar?

Roderick said something, but Sei couldn't understand it. He stepped back to avoid the sword thrust, and gave Rod a smirk. "If your getting tired, we could switch back to hand-to-hand fighting." He said willingly. His arms weren't used to the weight he'd been logging around today, and he couldn't help but wonder if Roderick was feeling it too. He charged Rod, loosened his grip, and thrusted the sword outward. Roderick had swung his sword at him, and he tilted his shield to block the blow, causing his arm to spasm. He ignored the pain, and continued his assault. He was breathing hard, due to the amount of force he put behind his strikes, and as he swung the sword up to meet Roderick's, his ears rang. He was sure his opponent was having the same problems, but he didn't have time to lose his focus.

He stepped back, and waited for his breathing and vision to catch up with his body. He stopped to calm himself, and when he was ready, he charged again. He turned in a circle, and brought his leg up with the building momentum, aiming a kick for Rods left shoulder. He continued with a swing of his sword flat to Rodericks' head. He feigned however, and instead brought his shield to Rods' stomach.

[Fighter Pit]Just a Friendly Spar?

Shaking his head at the offer of returning to their hand to hand fighting, he continued with all he had been doing. Disappointed that the Kelvic had defended himself against every attack, Roderick scrambled away from the kick aimed for his shoulder, then moved his shield up above his head to protect himself against the flat-ended blow heading towards him. When the weapon dropped down again he realized he had made an awful error; shifting in an attempt to close his guard, he felt the hammering of steel against his exposed chest.

The force of it set him stumbling backwards, no hint of air left in his lungs. Feet back peddling on the ground as he fought to regain his balance, the hunter set his boots flat on the ground after a few moments of wobbling. Not wanting to waste any more time, he moved forwards quickly and brought his blade down towards Sei, not caring if it landed or not. At the same time he kicked out at his opponent's shin, then slammed forward with his shield - then went for another strike with his sword.

None of it was refined; the attacks were nothing more than a rushed flurry of swinging in the hopes of landing a hit. Backing away again he felt the breath rushing from his lips and the sweat that coated his skin, dribbling down his neck in a tickling stream. It wasn't overly hot that day, but the effort of fighting with unfamiliar gear was proving a daunting trial in endurance. Rolling his shoulders about, the Zeltivan started to know the agony of holding up his arms. Feeling them dropping down to his sides, he gritted his teeth, growled quietly to himself in pain and forced them back up into place.

[Fighter Pit]Just a Friendly Spar?

Postby Sei Tendo on September 16th, 2013, 6:43 pm

Sei was shocked he'd managed to hit Roderick, and he stubled backwards in exhaustion. By now, his breathing was heavy, and he was covered in sweat. His shirt was soaked, and clung dearly to his back. He could feel the sweat drops race down his face and neck, and he wanted to charge Roderick again. He walked up to Roderick, and spoke between gasps. "Lets.. Call it.. A damn.. Day..." He wheezed, dropping his sword and slumping to the ground. He pulled his arm free from the shield, and winced as it sent a spasm through his arm. He wiped his forehead, and groaned as him arm was immediately covered in sweat. He looked over to his bag, and back to where he sat. "So far..." He mumbled, when in truth it was only a few feet away.

He reached his arm lazily, and grabbed his rucksack. The movement made his arms spasm, but he didn't care. He pushed past the pain, and took out his waterskin. He drank the water greedily, and glanced over at Roderick, who looked in the same condition as he, and pushed the waterskin towards him after wiping his face. "Here. You look terrible." He joked, trying to put out a laugh, which sounded like more of a heavy pant. He tried to smile, but couldn't find the energy. After Roderick had denied or accepted the water, he put it away and shook out the stress in his arms. They were numb, and even the slightest movement caused them to sting. He shook them until he could no longer feel the numbness, and stretched his arms happily. "Much better!" He said, taking a stand. His legs felt oddly heavy, and it was no doubt an effect of the weight he'd been carrying. He ran in place, and when his legs felt normal he gave a sigh.

"Go home, or go another round?"

[Fighter Pit]Just a Friendly Spar?

Postby Roderick on September 16th, 2013, 7:10 pm

"Lets.. call it.. a damn.. day..." the Kelvic was standing right in front of him as he said it; a trick, maybe? It was possible that Sei was waiting for him to drop his guard - but the sight of him collapsing to his knees and shaking his arm free of the shield convinced the Zeltivan the tiger was speaking the truth. Lowering himself to his knees, he set his blade down on the ground and tugged at the shield, suppressing a moan as the weight slid from his arm. Unarmed now, he accepted Sei's offer of water gladly, smiling at the jackass comment. Draining a goodly amount of it he returned it.

Throat less parched than before, he rose together with the other hunter and stood opposite him as the decision between continuing the fight or going home was laid out before him. Arms twinging in pain and back complaining, he decided he'd had enough for the day.
"Another time, Tendo," he winced as the pains worsened, "Gods, I feel the same as I did after that challenge we had back in the summer - remember that?" he let out a raspy laugh, wiping the water on his mouth on the back of his glove, "I'll see you around, eh?" he backed away towards where his things were. Belting his cloak into place, he slung his bow and arrows about his chest and half turned to face his friend.
"Someday I will beat you at this fist fighting," he repeated the promise he'd made earlier, "but it sure won't be today." With a pained smile he got ready to leave the pit.
