PM to join Desolation (S'Essy)

Tydus anguishes over the weakening of his sight.

(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role play forum. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)

Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

And so the wine poured.

The Tempest had not glasses to use for the wine, his custom being to simply drink it from the bottle, so it was how they would do it. The Svefra took a long swig, a satisfied sigh escaping his lips as the carbonation burst upon his tongue, the tart flavour of the wine cascading upon his tongue before he passed the bottle on. Satisfied that his throat was momentarily sated, he felt the stories burst forth in his mind. It was a measure of pride that rose from him in her first words that compelled him to respond with drawn out laughter,

"Aye. Having teh freedom to sail teh seas and live a life of freedom is wonderful. I can be 'ere, or in Alvadas, or teh Flotilla. Gods, it feels like I've been on shore forever, actually."

The Svefra easily noted the sour change in S'Essy's expression. It was as if a sour, disturbing thought made its way into her mind and began to twist within. Tydus knew the expression well, but wasn't sure exactly why it was there. Even more confusing was the very sudden, and to be fair, rather unwelcome change in subject. Syliras was a place that Tydus' pod had not enjoyed in the slightest. Strict laws and brutal enforcement was like a leash that defeated the very essence of the Tempest pod's heart as a whole.

It was... disgusting.

"Aye. I've been, and if I can 'elp it, I'll never go back. T'is a hole, that place is. Rotten and putrid by smell an' by law. Could ne'er find a bit of peace innit. So-called city of peace, my arse. Teh only peace to be found is outside of a box made o' walls."

There was no small amount of bitterness in his verse, for he remembered that a podmate was pinched in Syliras at one point. Two seasons passed before he had seen that podmate again, and he was forever stained with a darkness in his gaze.

He brought the wine just without glasses. An odd way to serve but she didn't mind. She was here to learn about the Svefra way wasn't she? Not that it was important to drink from glasses, it didn't change anything. The Konti was waiting for Tydus to drink from it. As he did, she slowly took it away from him, but she didn't take a sip yet. She was holding it with both of her hands and was listening to him. Talking about the freedom which the Sea offered to him. Can be anywhere he wanted. What a nice image. She was grinning just imagining it.

She wanted a similar life. Getting away from Mura and see the world. Though she didn't manage to do it much. "I envy you.. really. I was only in Mura, Syliras and of course here. I wish I could have been in more places." She wanted to travel around Mizahar not stick around in places. But she did the exact opposite of that twice. Although she had a lot of years ahead of herself, she could still travel sometime and see the world around herself.

The Konti noticed she was holding the bottle. As the Tempest told his experience about Syliras, she raised the bottle and was drinking from it a bit. The sweet taste of wine. Though their experiences were totally different about Syliras. At first she thought nearly the same things. She took down the bottle next them. "Good wine you have here. And I really don't agree." She had her best days there. And she found love there.

"Don't know, I managed to find fun in that place. I do not agree with everything the knights do but they are not that bad. At least I know one who clearly wasn't. But that's just me." She wanted to forget about it. It was in the past. And thinking about it was just painful and made her have a strange feeling rule her. She leaned down on her back and was staring at the sky.

"I wish I could stay here forever. Join your lifestyle."

TThe Konti's opinion about Syliras was invalid. Not one to accept the words of another in regards to a place that he had already been, he simply allowed the matter to pass by and fade into obscurity. The towering walls of Syliras were exactly that. Walls. A stone cage that both shielded and imprisoned. There was no freedom in a place where most could not see the sky. Zulrav was a God that the Tempest held highly in regard, just as Laviku, and the storms and tides could not impress upon the Sylirans. It was a detestable life; if one could not smell the salt of the oceans, at the very least they deserved to feel Zulrav's winds kiss upon their forehead.

"Looks like yer enjoyin' teh wine, lass."

A playful jibe intended to break the sordid mood that came with the discussion of Syliras. Though, in truth, the Tempest could say that any of the given cities were a veritable prison. The life of a beached whale did not appeal to him, and the covetous nature of his voice had shown in the words he had spoken before. He craved the ocean's embrace. He reveled in it. He wished to leave the cities and live as one with the sea as he had when he was part of the pod. The blissful days of Tempest reverie were so recent, remembered. However, treasured as they were, never would they come again. A sigh wafted from Tydus' lips before he rested his back against the ship's deck and allowed himself to look skyward, reveling in the sharpness of his sight. S'Essy had saved him from the blurred darkness of a world without sight, and he had not yet properly thanked her.

A hand rose to clasp around the image of Leth in the sky before Tydus turned to face S'Essy properly. There was a smile upon his features, a tender expression its gaze upon the Konti woman. His left hand propped his head up, his right reaching to caress the Konti's face as he remarked,

"I haven' thanked ye properly for savin' me eyes. Is there anything else I can do to repay ye? There's not much that I have to give in teh ways of prize, but yeh can choose anything."

She turned her head to look at him. He was enjoying the wine just like her and enjoying himself too. Maybe a bit too much. She was smiling at him but the good feeling in her didn't last too long. She just couldn't forget one memory. His hand reaching her face was also just odd. She didn't enjoy it. Her Call was just keep bothering and that one little memory in Syliras was keep coming up, and it was painful to even remember that. S'Essy still felt the guilt about it.

It also made her think, was she still really that woman? The woman who could be so easily charmed and would even accept one night enjoyments? She just missed it so much, to find her own dear again. It seemed her time in Riverfall was over, the gods and goddesses wanted her to go back to Syliras. How could she not see it before? She sighed, it was time to go, she lost the mood and it wasn't right, she didn't feel right. "You did more than enough. And I'm sorry but I'm... erm.. tired. It was a long day for me. I will go home. Have fun Tydus, I'm glad I could help. And say good bye to your Tavan for me!" She stood up and take on her clothes. They were still wet but she didn't mind for now.

She was walking at the Docks again, walking next to the sea. On the way back to the Pearl House, she was staring at His waters. Her face hardened. She felt dumb, she let him confuse her about her faith. She wanted to forget this day. "He is wrong You know! You marked him but he is wrong! In everything! I'm just as much Your daughter as he is Your son." She was talking to the Sea, to Laviku himself. She believed He could hear her. "You gifted me and I'm thankful for that! He lives on a ship, while I can swim and live in your waters. I respect you and LOVE you as my true Father, I had you as a Father, you raised me up. So he is wrong. Thank you, Laviku!" With that speech, she moved on back to her the Pearl House. She had much preparation to make and also much thinking.

OOCI know a sudden turn but since Tydus' gone, I tried to explain the future threads.

Additional: The acting points may seem out of nowhere, but it’s for your brief accent imitations. As Tydus is retired, I didn’t award any lores related to him, but I can if you like. Additionally, you had a couple posts in here that were quite short, only around 200 words. 300-400 is the bare minimum, so you’ll want to mind that in the future.

Tydus :
Tydus, if you ever decide to come back to Mizahar, let me know, and I’ll add your grade here.

Notes :
I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting here, but it turned out very interesting and touched on a lot of topics between the two of you. I’m glad we got to see some kind of conclusion instead of the dead ends that so often seem to happen. Great job!

If you have any questions or concerns about what was awarded, don't hesitate to PM me. When you're finished, please edit or delete your grade request from the grading queue.
