This forum is an OOC forum for PCS and Organizations to work out plans in hardcopy. Each PC or Organization gets a single thread where their players can help work out plans for their PC. Quests, mini-sagas, and Trips can all be organized here as well working out timelines and points of travel and things PCs need to do along the way. Each PC however gets only one Plotnote for their individual PC. Groups get one as well. There is no limit on individuals posting saga or trip plotnote threads. Please denote [PC Plotnotes] or [Group Plotnotes] or [Quest/Trip/Saga Plotnotes] when titling your threads.

Info on Tents and Food Storage
For navigating the lore you sometimes need to have the spelling perfect to get a hit. Go ahead and type 'Spearback' into the lore exactly like that and at the top of the page it will have a link to the monster directory. You mentioned Grass Bears and Nightlions though which can only be found in the Riverfall fauna list. If you type Riverfall into the lore and scroll right down to the bottom it will show you the link. I think you'll get a real kick out of the house cats with wings.

The webbing is invisible, which I believe you already know. It's just lines of tightly spun djed and like a spiders web, think of the web Mage as a spider, he knows when someone is touching his handy work.

Dogs and cats are probably the best bet for rats and mice, I would say there is a mix of storage methods depending on how they want to keep the food. The ground works as too does simple tent storage or maybe even trees in summer. They have drying racks, etc. I will check the Drykas lore and see if food needs its own section.

A resin is rubbed into the fabric of the tents that keeps them water tight and protects them from the wind. I'd say there are also a number of types used, but feel like this is mention somewhere. Tents don't last forever and it's safe to say they spend the summer making repairs or replacements when they need to, but for the most part they're hardy and a new one will go a couple of summers without issue.

If anything I'd say the wind isn't so much an issue as the design of the tents will fight that (for a large pavilion tent, the ones that cost 50gm, think of the Arabian desert people whose tents are large enough to house even their animals. Drykas have whole areas of their tents dedicated to keeping their animals from the weather.

If anything is going to be an issue I'd say it would be a lot of heavy snow fall. If the Drykas aren't keeping on top of removing the snow from the tops and maybe even sides of the tent they will start to see structure problems.

Yes the Drykas move during the season, just like a farmer moves his cattle to different pastures, the Drykas have to keep their large herds on the move so that they can graze down the tall grass but not stay anywhere long enough that it scars the land to the point where the earth would struggle to recover. If you look at the map of the fall grounds for example, there are two small cities near the coast. They might start camping closer to one at the beginning of the season and end up closer to the season by the end of it. Is would say there are at least two or three shifts that take place; people don't really tend to mention this, some of the smaller pavilions might only make one shot, but for the clans who all own a lot of Zibri and Striders, they need to move to survive and a lot of people follow them for security.

Step 4b: Learn archery, other fighting/military skills

Step 4c: Help Dravite communicate with his horses/help when purchasing new horses

Step 4d: Learn Pavi

Step 4: Understand what it means to be free/master of his own destiny

Step 5: Become as full-fledged a member of a clan/of the Drykas culture as possible

General: Learn to live life other than being purely driven by the need to survive

a: Develop the ability to trust others

b: Make friends

b 1: Possible inroads to mind and heart-

Dravite's children?

Dravite's animals- horses, other livestock

c: gain a family of some sort

Character Arc

Postby Kaitanu on September 7th, 2015, 7:47 am

Overarching character journey:
1. Find bondmate
2. Put Kai's mind back together
3. Heal his emotional/psychological scars
4. Develop his personality beyond traumatized slave
5. Build trust in others/work on interpersonal relationships
6. Reveal his true personality under the scars/bring him up to his true potential
7. Possibly bring him into alignment with Yahal
8. Set him on the path to save others and do far-reaching good under Yahal
8a.: Use his past experiences to help slaves/former slaves/the downtrodden

Possible future plot (must get permission from Ravok mods):
I would also like to work on him getting memories back of his very early life, partly because it involves his parents and their master, who was a good man who was part of The Rising Dawn. He was found out and killed, and Kai was separated from his parents and sold off to various masters from then on. I'm hoping perhaps to have this come into play sometime, maybe spurring him to help The Rising Dawn himself. Kai needs something to fight for, rather than being dead inside. It will take him a very long time, though, to even get to trusting anyone, or to have a life and identity of his own beyond being a slave.

Gods and Goddesses

Postby Kaitanu on September 21st, 2015, 3:55 am

A note about possible patron gods/reviled gods:

Kaitanu has an innate sense of right and wrong, in spite of what he's gone through. His world view may be somewhat distorted, but he's got good basic instincts if he's ever allowed to let them work beyond mere survival. He may want to worship Yahal- he needs all the support and love he can get. Hopefully he can work up to a gnosis mark or two. Kai has the potential for real unselfish heroics, perhaps even effecting massive change within Mizaharian society. Whether or not he will ever reach his full potential is unclear, and may never happen, due to the severe damage done to him at a young age. It's also possible for Kai to be deadened so far that he swings into full self-destructive/other-people-destructive ends.

Other possible gods/goddesses:

Kelwyn, since he's a lost cause

Qualaya, to get his memory back/make it easier to recall things if he realizes there's something worth remembering.

Priskil- hope, because he needs it

Rak'keli- healing

Rhaus- because music is incredibly important

Syna- the joy aspect, because he hasn't had joy in his life

Kihala- life

Tavasi- because he needs a new beginning

Tyveth- Honor, Justice, Valor, Chivalry, Truth

Xhyvas- Transcendence, Possibilities- he needs to be able to transcend his past

Any demigods of horses, should they be created.

Rhysol and his ilk are to be avoided at all costs.

He would also avoid Nikali because he doesn't EVER want to feel pleasure when something bad is happening; he feels it would be giving power to those who abuse him. The only thing he has left is what's happening inside himself when he's being abused. That little corner of his mind is the one place over which no one but himself has control and he will never relinquish that. In addition, he has seen the ravaging effects of addiction and it's one of the other very few points of control he has left over his life; that he's not addicted to anything. Also, the addiction would probably fracture his mind and memory even more, and he can't afford that. Broken as he is, Kai remains at least somewhat aware of his mental state and how it could be even worse. He would rather avoid that.

Plot Notes

Postby Kaitanu on January 29th, 2016, 2:10 am

Spoils from "Dominion Over Self" thread:
5 x 467 (1/3 bison) = 2335 SM =

Personal Total: 233 GM +5 SM

4670 for both Kai and Tribal + 1 horn (4 GM total) = 467 GM + 4 GM =

Pavilion Total: 471 GM

Notes(From Lian Windrunner)Well, Lian is going to sell his share of the meat. You might want to sell some of yours, too. I was asking Prophet, and here's what he told me:

The size of bison ranges dramatically based on several factors; sex and age, mostly. Standard sizing is between 701 to 2,205 lbs. An adult male on the plains would probably teeter between 1400-1700 for the most part. Aggressively moving herds (ones often pursued by predators which any in the SoG would) don't reach that 1 ton mark often. As far as pricing goes, assume the same as Zibri.

As I remember, the bison we killed was a young adult bull. I asked if we could assume it was 1400 lbs given what Prophet said, but haven't heard back yet. But if so, 1/3 of the meat comes to 466.66666 lbs (which can probably be rounded up to 467; again, I asked, but haven't heard back). So for you, 2/3 would be 934 lbs of meat assuming a third can be rounded up to 467 lbs, and that we can assume our bison was 1400 lbs. That's a lot of meat for one pavilion. XD

Back to the hide, you (and the Blackwater pavilion through you) might have more use for it than Lian would. It can also be assumed that Dravite did most of the work in skinning the bison, and tanning the hide. With 1 exp in tanning, and 4 in butchery, I doubt Lian would have been of much use. Since Dravite is going to be a presence in your pavilion, it seems right that you get the hide. Even if you don't have the skills to tan it, some of the pavilion NPCs might. Would you consider trading some of your meat for my share of the hide? If that interests you, we could decide what a fair trade would be once we find out just how much meat we have to work with.

As an update, Prophet says that 1400 lbs for our bison's weight is fine, as is rounding up 1/3 of the meat to be 467 lbs.

We also get its horns (one each would be fair, I think). They would be valued the same as 4 point deer antlers if you want to sell yours.
