Clyde relinquished a sigh, Ferrin registered the tension that grew from the man holding the staff. He swiftly silenced himself and stroked the mares head beside him as his other hand still clung to the reins. Waiting for Clyde to speak.

“A staff is a weapon for combat, if used right. Not everyone swings around steel, or shoots arrows. A staff is a simple weapon yes, but maybe I don't want to kill everyone I swing it at. Hammers and swords are fine and all, and you are both training to be knights, so you need weapons that can kill. But have you ever tried to swing a sword at a person, and get a good hit in, and not kill them? I can smack someone good with this, and make them think twice about fighting, and still have them walking around the next day. Can you say the same?” Said Clyde. Ferrin looked at the staff and almost felt ashamed and childish as he mentioned it.

The staff seemed adequate, yet it didn't feel like a 'proper' weapon to use against the Yukmen. He doesn't want them alive though, from what it seems. "I understand." Said Ferrin in shame as he looked up to the man before him, the Kenashian knew better then poke the bear. At least, he always knew when he agitated his mother with questions when he was younger. Clyde, though. He was a different person. More.. Complex in a way then Ferrin imagined he'd be.

It didn't matter to Ferrin though, he can work something out with this strange man, hopefully.

"I apologize. It was ignorance that led to my inquiries and my fault for asking of them. I meant not for the relationship between us to break. I was... Only gathering a sense of information for myself. To er get to know you." He said apologetically. "I also know these woods fairly well. Since my time being here I have been out hunting these past few seasons since Summer. I had only become a Squire this spring." He said cordially as he looked yander to the Gates.

"How intelligent are these Yukmen? Maybe, if we're lucky we can be able to sense a fire of some sort? Are they even that smart to make fire?" The last bit was intentionally for himself, he wasn't aware of how the Yukemen acted. He knew the existed, but he had not encountered them before in his life time. "If they were smart enough they wouldn't camp near the lake. I've heard rumors of a sea creature that roams the Pavi Lake. So, they'll probably be inside the more deeper parts of the woods." Said Ferrin assuming thats where they'll most likely be.

Cly“A staff is a weapon for combat, if used right. Can you say the same?”de started off and Ferrin pulled on the reins, with a light tug. With a whinnied and a snort the horse eventually pulled through and followed the three.

Ferrin wondered if Clyde knew magic. He heard rumors of creating things from flesh and the like. Though, he hadn't been so sure of Clyde. His trust for him is questionable. Clyde being responsible for the two, made things a bit more strained. Ferrin hoped that all things would go well for the three of them, er four. Including Cyprus. By Sylirs hand, things will go right for them.

A Seeking of the Blood[Irathia, Ferrin]

Postby Irathia on June 19th, 2016, 11:25 pm

"From my experience of Yukmen, which is very little mind you, they are rather dull creatures. They scream, scratch, kick... Kind of like a little child? Anyways, they probably don't have the ability to make fires." She told Ferrin. Irathia was mainly assuming about the fire, she really didn't know if they had the mental capabilities of lighting things on fire properly. For all she knew they could make small camps of sorts... She was just stabbing in the dark.

"Other than that, I have no questions." Irathia said, looking at Clyde as she spoke. She didn't like Clyde currently, he seemed a bit off. For one just a big stick wont really do that good when they are trying to kill the monsters. Not capture them or scare them... But she understood what he meant, she refuses to use blades because they are only used for killing, while hammers can break stones, build homes, knock out people. It wasn't a weapon only used for killing, unless specifically designed for killing.

Irathia began to think about the actual mission, a small spiral of fear began forming at the thought of berserking, what if she actually hurts a Clyde or Ferrin? A bunch of what ifs began to come into her head, but she just pushed them back. There would be no room for her to freak out.

A Seeking of the Blood[Irathia, Ferrin]

Clyde smiled at the two squires, a thoroughly non-serious expression as if someone had just said something funny.

“Besides the point, you two are here. I've got a pair of squires by my side, to deal with the yukmen. Will I even need to fight, let alone need a proper weapon? If I must I will, but I imagine you two will have them well in hand.”

“As for fires, I've never seen them make any. I've seen them travel in packs, like wolves, hunting in pairs and small groups. I've seen them travel in hordes and large groups like ants swarming. And I've seen them hunt like hungry men thinking of nothing but filling their bellies, rushing headlong regardless of the danger. I've never seen them make fire. They are deceivingly fast for their appearance, and rather strong, so I'd avoid grappling with them, but they aren't a match for a proper fighter. Particularly if you keep them at a distance and use your weapons. ”

Clyde smiled at the two, a rather different tone of voice now that they were talking on things he felt were more on topic, namely information about what they hunted.

“But I don't think they'd be sending us out to a large group, so I'm sure its no more than a few of the things running about. We just need to keep aware, and we should be fine. Rye is good at noticing things, he'll probably warn us with a good low growl before we even hear them, let alone get close. If he tenses up, and starts up, be on your toes and watch out and listen for the yukking.”

While they talked as they walked, the three people, along with accompanying others, headed along the kabrin road.

It was a decent walk, a bell or two, before they got roughly to the area where they needed to cut off into the woods.

Once they reached the vague area Clyde figured they were headed to, with the right relation in direction to the lake and before the mine, he ordered them off the path and off into the woods.

After that it was just a matter of time, a matter of time before they got deep enough in the woods and found the yukmen. Assuming they'd not gotten too far off direction, and didn't miss them in some other way.

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

A Seeking of the Blood[Irathia, Ferrin]

Ticks slowly passed by. It felt like a bells walk. Who knew that walking this far in silence was... Straight out boring. Hooves clapped against the dirt, panting came from The as the group walked. Ferrins palms were getting sweaty from wearing the metal gauntlets and holding onto the reins of Cyprus. His stallion of courage. Plus, his best friend. He'll let nothing get to him, and same path goes for Cyprus.

Ferrin looked over at Irathia, she appeared to be content. Well, from what Ferrin had seen. Then, he looked over at Clyde. His body was firm, tensed in a way. Firm as in hard as rock. Tense, as if agitated. Ferrin couldn't officially read the status of the posture as he is on psychic. Boots clinked and tapped as well, making the peacefulness of the Bronze Woods dissipate. Birds chirped their lovely lullabies without a care.

A few bunnies scurried across the Kabrin as if in a hurry for some occasion.

Yes, why would the Order send them through to a large group of Yukmen? Surely, it would be quite peculiar in a way of course. Though, Ferrin wondered if there were any yukmen to where they were going. Why on the outskirts of Pavi Lake, of all locations. Pavi Lake. Ferrin mumbled to himself something about the lake being tormented by a sea creature. He kept it to himself though.

As he didn't want to appear crazy to the other three.

The Kenashian then kept silent after a few chimes gone by. It was enough time to have Ferrin register of where they were. He remembered this region, they were getting fairly closer to the lake now. All they had to do, was trek another few miles or so. That'll get them somewhere. Hopefully the yukmen. Ferrin watched the ground beneath him, looking for signs of tracks.

He had Cyprus descend in a slower pace. His clopping became a fair bit faster as his hooves came closer together. He hasn't seen anything yet, he looked around. Watching, waiting for any more tracks whilst he kept moving. Ignoring the other three around him. Letting his hunting instincts kick in. Did he see anything, yet? There, just perhaps thirty yards away. A trail.

Not any typical trail. Blood trail it flowed through the earth, the copper like fluid wafted in the air. "Could this be of their doing? Leaving blood across the ground. . . I do not hear them yet. We should follow, yes?" Said Ferrin as he pointed the direction of the blood trail leading onwards, deeper into the forest. Perhaps, closer to Pavi Lake.

Rumors say, there has been sightings of a Lake Monster. . .

OOCSo sorry for the long wait guys. I've totally forgotten it was my turn this whole time.

A Seeking of the Blood[Irathia, Ferrin]

Postby Irathia on June 30th, 2016, 9:30 pm

Irathia found the walk long, but he didn't quite mind it. She had her hammer on her shoulder as she walked, occasionally switching shoulders and hands because of sweat and the weight of her hammer. She admits she needs to get some sort of holster soon, she was getting tired of caring the thing around in her hands and on her shoulder everywhere she goes. It also would be generally more practical... Maybe she should visit Terag for the holster, he seemed like he was willing to build things for her.

Other than that the walk to this "pavi" lake was quite dull, and she was actually looking forward to conflict now, which is quite... Unusual for Irathia to do, then again they were on the mission and she wasn't quite the type currently to sit by now. Maybe at the beginning of winter but she had to admit she became way more active sense her arrival in Syliras.

Ferrin said something about a trail, "I am not sure, what do you say Clyde?" Irathia said, she really didn't know if it was an animal trail or Yukmen blood. "Do you think this is Yukmen? For all we know it could have been a wounded animal." Irathia couldn't really tell which way the animal or yukmen pack were heading, all she saw was some blood as they approached it.

A Seeking of the Blood[Irathia, Ferrin]

Postby Clyde Sullins on July 2nd, 2016, 3:30 pm

Clyde enjoyed going for a stroll now and then, and also enjoyed the occasional hike or camping trip. However, he still spent most of his time exercising things other than his muscles.

For the first bell or so he was fine, keeping up with the group, but by the second bell a stitch was beginning to form in his side. It started as a small crack, a spot of heat, but began to spread and grow and intensify as they kept going.

Clyde knew there was nothing to it but to keep pushing, and to focus on his task. Using one of his deep breathing exercises he used for meditation helped to keep his mind off of it, and kept him from panting so hard, but he couldn't block out the bit of pain stabbing into his side from the exertion.

Clearly he needed to get out more, but if nothing else this was another chance to do just that.

It seemed, Clyde thought to himself, Clyde was getting a chance to use all of his wilderness skills on this trip. He was navigating, getting them in the right direction, all while tracking and attempting to observe signs of the yukmen. So far he'd seen nothing that didn't seem normal woods stuff though, nothing that might indicate their tracks or signs or leftovers.

Clyde was walking along, keeping his eyes open, when one of the squires spoke and pointed to a bit of ground a bit of a ways off in the distance.

It was a short trail or streak of redness across the ground.

Eye-Rath also pointed it out, deferring to Clyde and questioning if it was related to the yukmen. Which made sense, as he was the leader.

Clyde inspected the blood streak, walking a bit closer as he did, taking in the details.

As he grew closer he noted a few other things. A few bits of bloody matted fur thrown about... Something that looked like a wet pile of something full of bloody meat and bits of more fur... If he didn't know better, he'd say it was vomit.

And lastly, the hind foot of a rabbit, looking as if it had been ripped off at some recent point in time.

However what he mainly noted was that it was still wet, still fresh. Which meant whatever had done it was still close, and hadn't done the deed too long ago... Not to mention it meant no normal animal had done this, as it wasn't how most beasts or things ate.

Most of the food had been wasted, and if his suspicions were right one of them had thrown up what it had eaten afterward.

“This wasn't some random animal attack, something... Tore this thing apart. I thing it was a rabbit or something... I mean, the thing that was torn apart, not the thing that did this.”

“Plus look, its fresh, still wet. This happened recently. Whatever did this, it must be close. Keep on your toes pe-”

Clyde's last word was interrupted as Rye began a low growl, facing off to the right into the woods from the direction they had been heading.

A few moments later a sound came out of the woods, sounding somewhat far off as it tore through the air. "YUK YUK YUK!"

Suddenly Rye stopped and turned, facing the opposite direction from the first sound, just as another sound echoed back, this one much closer, perhaps fifteen or twenty feet off from where they were, but deeper into the woods. "YUK YUK YUK!!!" If they weren't so deep in the woods, the source of the sound would likely be visible, but as it was the trees and vegetation blocked their sight-line on the source of the second much closer sound.

Clyde held up his staff defensively as he heard motion coming from the direction of the second sound, motion and scuffling of feet coming directly towards them. He couldn't tell just by sound how many there were, but it certainly sounded like more than one pair of feet.

Feet traveling fast right at them. Feet that would reach them in moments, and emerge from the woods.

“Petch. Alright, weapons out people, on guard.”

“This wasn't some random animal attack, something... Tore this thing apart. I thing it was a rabbit or something... I mean, the thing that was torn apart, not the thing that did this.” Clyde spoke. Ferrin assumed that he was being concerned.

"Certainly, this can't be the yukmens doing..." A rumble in his stomach made him want to throw up. He's not very good with these kind of situations.

He wanted to throw up. . . "You mean, that this is how they eat?" Thought Ferrin aloud to no one in particular. He was awestrucked really. It wasn't a pleasant site to see, or even a mesmerizing one to be in fact.

Ferrin held back a gag. He plugged his nose. The smell was rancid. It soiled the air around them like a smoke.

“Plus look, its fresh, still wet. This happened recently. Whatever did this, it must be close. Keep on your toes pe-”

"I think that we can see tha-" instinctively, Ferrin had drawn out his shortened broadsword. The blade made a nice clink sound as it was pulled out, Ferrin let loose of Cyprus the horse whinnied anxiously and stood by Ferrins side. Ferrin used his open hand to undo the hunting stuff. He quickly had strapped his longbow and quiver on to the saddle. It wasn't a very good job, but it still held on tight even doing it with an elbow and one hand. It would've been better if he'd just put away his sword, but he didn't have the time. Now, he has his sword and his shield at the hand.

"YUK YUK YUK!"

It was horrible. The sound ringing throughout the forest. Ferrin wanted to cover his ears, but he knew he didn't need to. It was only a few moments, that the wait was over. They were finally here. Ferrin would get to see them the first time. He was half excited and half awestrucked. He didn't really know what to do, but he followed Clyde's lead.

Keep calm, and fight.

"YUK YUK YUK!"

There it was again. Cyprus and both Clyde's fog, Rye either shifted their ears or their heads to the other sound. "Hey, how big could a tribe of Yukmen be?" Asked Ferrin in a bit of a panicky voice. He was b really uncomfortable. Then, from separate directions, Yukmen emerged. Five, at most. Three from one end, and the other two emerging from the opposite.

A few of them were blooded and looked ferocious. They looked like dangerous predators, who've taken the form of a humanoid; literally. They kept screaming.

"YUK YUK YUK!" The noise blared out through the once quiet woods. Then, instantly with tremendous speed and vibrance one of the yukmen charged after Ferrin. Presuming, that he was the most toughest of the three people standing in front of them. One hand was bloodied and scarred, his body was fairly naked. Actually, it was all naked and mucky. Dirt covered it's entire skin, almost like the colour of mud. Even rocks and quart sized minerals lined it's body from all around.

The dramatic speed had surprised Ferrin. He was ready for the impact, but at the same time he wasn't. The Yukman, thrashed at him with his wickedly weird disfigured nails. Nails that were from all four. He was naked, and on top of Ferrin. It was gruesome, and unpredictable. Ferrin managed though, to get the Yukman under his shield before they fell. It's nails scrapped against the shield. Ferrin regreeted wearing leather armor.

The Yukans other hand thrashed at Ferrins blade, as Ferrin held it above his face, warding off any damage that could be done to it. Drool slipped onto it though, Ferrin moaned a bit. The weight of this Yukman was more than him. He probably weighed about half a horse. It stunk as well. Worse than a week old cheese that was left out of an ice box.

Ferrin couldn't get it off him, his shield arm was slowly beginning to crack. The blade was slowly cutting through the Yukmans arm. It didn't do it harm, just yet. It wasn't yelping in pain or anything, it kept thrashing and struggled to get a hold of Ferrin. The Kenashian couldn't really see what was going on around him. Finally, the blade seeped through the Yukmans arm. Ferrin had slightly gain the upper hand. He shoved it off with his shield and did his best to jump on his feet. He wobbled a bit, but regained balance.

The Yukman charged again, howling in pain with horrendous YUK sounds. They were each high pitched, and another quickly came into play. Ferrin did a swipe to the one charging, his blade made contact but, it never cut through all the way. Ferrin quickly withdrew. His shortened broadsword was swathed with blood. Just missing the hilt though.

The Kenashian dodged a swipe from the charging Yukamn from before as it attempted another charge, though one of its wicked nails scratched Ferrin in the side. Blood dripped from his side. He winced in pain, but he kept his stance. His will was strong.

Keep calm, and fight.

He slashed vertically down the one handed Yukmans' shoulder. He finally yelped in pain. It dropped to its knees, but thrased at Ferrin. The Yukman who had cut Ferrin earlier came again, it slashed at Ferrins legs. The same amount of blood started from the back of his leg. He stayed standing. He raised his blade and drives it through the cranium of the Yukman kneeling in pain. Blood splattered in different directions and the Yukman had fallen face first. With a loud thump. Hopefully, Clyde will still have the ability to use it?

The one still alive, charged at Ferrin again. Ferrin stook his foot out to trip that one, but failed and so does the Yukman who had attempted to knock him over. More YUKS sounded from the creature. It was egged on. It wanted to kill Ferrin. Ferrin turned round and found himself on the floor, no on top of the Yukman he'd just killed. His back was on top of it. It was really gruesome now... Ferrin wanted to throw up, but he knew the Yukman above him wouldn't give him that chance either way this encounter goes.

Ferrin did the same as he had done with the dead Yukman. His shield was under this one, but his face was scratched by it. Ferrin took his sword and had driven it through it's head as well. It turned limp, blood poured from the mouth of the Yukman and onto Ferrin. Intense.

Ferrin pushed it over onto the ground and hurled his last meal. All over the ground beneath him. Wanting for this gruesome encounter to be over.

Keep calm, and relax.
