5 Summer 516

"Remember" Remi said, shoving the basket at Shiress, "only the big, fluffy white shrooms. They grow in soil or on a log. Don't go gettin' any of the others, you'll poison us all" Shiress arched a brow with a mischievous quirk to her lips. Remi swatted at the girl, before rounding the bar "Now, tell me again whatcha goin after" Shiress sighed lazily, throwing a dark cloak around slim shoulders "Wild onions and mushrooms. Only the white, fluffy ones are poisonous." The cook opened her mouth to speak, but stopped and scowled at the girl's grin "Get you gone now" she said instead "I'll need um for supper"

Shiress gathered the basket and turned to leave "I don't see why you don't just grow them here, in the back, like you do all the other vegetables." She said over her shoulder. The old cook grunted "Wouldn't rightly be wild now would they?" Shiress turned to face the woman, hand on the door handle, expression suddenly confused. "Oh..." she said, turning slowly and pulling the door closed behind her.

Shiress contemplated this all the way to the city gates and through.

Can you grow wild vegetables..

If you grow them, would they not be wild any more..

But it's the exact same vegetable. Does it change if a human grows it..

Shiress shook the bemusement from her head, drawing up serious, as she began scanning the earth for -white- mushrooms and onions. She found a large patch of wild onions and quickly filled the basket with more than enough, but the mushrooms eluded her. No logs. No soil. So deeper in the forest she roamed, head down, eyes scanning for white, fluffy mushrooms.

Half a bell later, she had 4 large, beautiful, fluffy mushrooms. No where near enough. Frustrated, the girl found her a stump, and sat, dragging an apple from beneath her cloak. As she sat chewing, a shuffling in the leaves came from directly in front of her. She ignored it for a breeze and took another bite of apple. Another sound cracked the silence, this time accompanied with a snort. Standing slowly, Shiress let the apple tumble through her fingers to the ground, as she lowered the basket to the forest floor. Pushing the cloak aside, she hiked up the hem of her skirt, unsheathing the dagger from her thigh, and took a cautious step forward.

The forest was eerily quiet as Shiress rounded a tree, then another; taking slow, deliberate steps around the debris littering the forest floor. Rounding the next tree, Shiress froze, looking straight into black, beady eyes. Those dark eyes glared back at her, too. Locked in a death glare, Shiress let her eyes dip to the large and very sharp tusks protruding from the boar's mouth and back up. That was enough. The large bore charged and Shiress turned and bolted deeper into the forest.

The girl's feet pounded the earth, as she dodged and weaved trees and branches, her dagger held before her, despite the fact that Lorna, her mother, always warned her to never run with sharp objects. Just as Shiress gave serious thought to tossing the sharp object, she tripped and slid chest first 5 feet, her arms, thankfully, stretched out before her, dagger safely away from eyes. She lay there trying to gain control of her breathing, marveling that a heart could beat so fast and not stop from exhaustion.

It didn't take long for the familiar snort to sound just behind her. She ripped herself from the earth, but the boar was faster this time; a long tusk sunk deep into the girls calf. Shiress shrieked, back slashing with her dagger. The blade met with...something and the boar let out a squeal and shuffled backwards. Shiress tore herself from the ground again and ran, ignoring the jolt of pain coursing through her leg with every step, the relentless hunter charging again.

Tired lungs and injury made her stumble several awkward steps, until she finally fell again. Long, chestnut locks flying up and over her face. She began to force herself up, but a low, throaty growl made her stop. She peered up slowly, through the veil of skewed hair, to see a thin man and rather intimidating dog. She shifted her weight and sat upright, chest heaving with the effort of impossible breaths and speech. The girl stretched out a thin arm and pointed in the direction she had come.

A whispered "Boar" was all she could manage.

5 Summer 516

Clyde knew he was going to be busy this season. as it was, he had plans for work, plans for magic, and plans for travel. With the intention of going to Alvadas for a short trip, along with everything else he had to do, he knew he wouldn't have much time to get out of the city and into nature later on.

So while he had time to take, he was taking it.

He took his camping gear, some of the leftover field rations he had from his yukmen trip, and a hammer currently tucked into his belt, and headed out Cha in hand and pack on his back.

It was always nice, Clyde felt, to get out of the city and away from the knights.

Between work, magic, and other things he was busy with, he didn't have much time to go out and be alone in the wilds.

As a child he had done it almost constantly, as often as he could, in these same woods and wilds.

Now here he was as an adult, looking to escape back out to his childhood haunt.

Of course, he wasn't really alone, as he had his faithful hound Rye at his side. It was always a bit odd walking along under the trees with him, as he appeared to melt into the shadows as they passed under particularly dense foliage, another of the odd traits of its breed. That and its red eyes that saw things in a different manner.

With the irregular shadows cast by the leaves, it often left bits of Rye gone, an odd speckled appearance as if bits of him had been ground away and vanished.

Feeling the familiar touch of Cha in his hand, the odd weight of a hammer at his hip, and Rye walking alongside him, he felt oddly... Calm. Something Clyde didn't often manage to achieve. Problems seemed to gravitate towards him, and more often than not he couldn't go two steps without something trying to kill him or needing killing.

Two steps later as he walked deeper into the woods he met more trouble.

Clyde puzzled over the sight before him, as a girl sprawled across the ground a few paces in front of him. As she rushed and fell, he watched, listening as Rye let out a low growl.

A bit further in the direction the girl had come from he could see motion, which was the direction Rye was growling. He couldn't see anything just yet, but he imagined Rye's eyes were better than his, and could see things he couldn't.

The girl confirmed it as she pointed in the same direction and said "bore". Clyde had no idea what it meant, until a boar grew close enough for him to see.

Clyde paused for a moment, pondering things, a flash of thoughts and decisions made in a blink.

His first choice was to help the girl. He could either help her, or leave her to be hurt or killed by the boar. If he did that he would gain nothing, and might lose something if others found out he'd done nothing. A risk.

If he helped her, he risked the immediate bodily threat, though he had his tricks for such things. He also had a chance of gaining, gaining the woman's trust and gratitude, something that couldn't be overlooked. There was no telling when such a thing might come in handy.

All of this was thought out and reasoned in a moment. Clyde took a few steps forward around the girl, getting closer to the boar. At the same time he willed his djed to flow down and into Cha, willing through and out of her a stream of focus. Two focus split off, one honing in and surrounding the girl, the other extending out and surrounding the boar.

With both clearly within his aura sight he was fully aware of each, and fully aware of where each one was in relation to himself.

He also flowed a second unique steam of djed into Cha, one of Reimancy, though only a little. This he flowed into one of the non-physical niches within Cha, within which he could prepare and store spells.

By force of will alone he gathered and flowed his djed, the res flowing within Cha and into this tiny niche. He then quickly crafted a spell, a small one but a spell nonetheless.

Normally when he released lightning it was big, the size of a person and able to kill with a single strike. That however took distance, as there was the risk of backlash from its violence. Also such a display of force would be far to visible, something he didn't want as he was currently hiding his abilities as a Reimancer.

Instead of forming a full sized lightning bolt, he molded the res within Cha into a tiny one, a length of compressed and shaped djed the length of his fist, a small line of lightning.

With one direction he transmuted the res, turning it into lightning. With another he willed the inside of the niche within Cha to grow cold, slow, dead. As the minute lightning bolt was created, it began to slow and stop, instead of racing away freezing in place.

With a small bit of his awareness and focus he willed the line to stay, to freeze, ready to release it when needed.

While he had done this, the boar had snorted and made a squeal, and then began to charge once more.

As it did Clyde noted a small cut on its right flank, fresh and still bleeding.

Holding Cha in a two handed grip he waited for the boar to near. As it grew close he stepped forward into a two handed swing, the end of Cha aiming right for the boar's head as hard as he could.

Right as Cha's surface and the boars head met, he released the restraint he had place upon the spell, letting it surge forth from its hold. The tiny bolt sizzled and burst forth, releasing its power directly into the boar instead of arcing and launching out of the staff as normal.

The swing of his staff, aided by the sudden discharge of the minute line of lightning sent the boar flying, knocking it over and onto its side where it skidded to a halt a good four feet away from the point of contact.

At the same time Cha flew out of his hands, flying in the opposite direction the boar had gone.

Later Clyde would ponder if this happened due to his poor skill in handling the staff, if had he prepared himself and had a firmer grip Cha would have stayed in his hands, or if it was the added force of the lightning that had made him lose his grip. Or perhaps he'd overdone it, and used too large of a piece of lightning. Perhaps if he'd thrust with the staff and released it from the front end like a spear, instead of swinging it like a club, he would have done better at keeping it in his hands and instead of sending it flying sideways it would have only pushed him back a bit while keeping it in his hands.

Either way one moment Cha was in his hands, releasing in an instant a flow of raw power into the boar, and the next it was flying

As the boar landed and Cha vanished from his grip, a sudden feeling of emptiness and vulnerability struck him. Without Cha in his hand, he felt... Odd... Vulnerable... Alone... Weak.

His first thought was to go after Cha. However with a second thought, he realized he needed to make sure the boar was down for good.

Taking the hammer he'd stowed earlier tucked behind his belt, Clyde ran over to where the boar had fallen, and struck it in the head where the bolt had struck.

He struck once. Twice. Three times. Then he stopped. He looked down at the pulp that once had been the head of the boar. Now the skull was staved in upon the brain, bits of blood and gore lying in a heap where its head should have been, bits oozing out and leaking and spreading in a manner quite odd for someone so recently solid.

For a split tick, the girl thought the stranger hadn't understood her one word explanation as to why she came skidding up to his feet, head first. But, as soon as his back was to her, she lowered her green eyes to the dog, that wasn't a dog at all. Not one she had ever seen. His eyes were disconcerting, to say the least. She scrutinized the beast a bit longer, before turning her attention to her hands. Her empty hands.

"My dagger..."

Shiress moved her legs beneath her, still ignoring the injury to her calf, as well as a new pain in her thigh, and lifted to her knees, eyes scanning the forest floor for her blade. The boar's squeal, however, drew her startled attention and she looked up in time to see the stranger position his staff and step into a two handed blow. What happened next, baffled the barmaid. Instead of following the momentum of the blow, the extricated staff flew opposite the boar's body.

Green eyes narrowed as they trailed the staff through a pair of thick tree trunks. Straightening to her feet, her right leg smarting much worse than it should be, the girl limped to the staff, and brought it up from the ruble of undergrowth it had settled in. Turning, she stumbled, and nearly fell, but for the support of the staff, that now she used to hold herself up right.

Shifting the weapon to her left hand, her right gently lifted her skirt over the two inch, jagged gash left on her calf in the wake of the boar's tusk. But still, she lifted the skirt higher, hesitantly, to expose most her thigh. A sharp intake of breath pierced her nearby surroundings, as she found her dagger. The blade had slid vertically, to the hilt, under her skin, and held fast there when she had fallen.

Doing her best to hide the shock on her face, she let the hem of her skirt return to her ankles, as she turned to the stranger, who currently seemed to be looking for what Shiress had just found. She pivoted her leg away from the man, hoping to hide the blood spilling down her leg and soaking her skirt.

"Looking for this?" she asked, holding the staff forward, stumbling a little, wondering how in the hell she was going to remove that dagger, stitch it, with what, and walk back to the city. All before nightfall. which didn't look that far off.

Full lips gave a lopsided lazy effort of a smile, as she swayed, abliging herself the use of the staff again, sweat sheening her brow. "Mind if we make camp together for the night?"

One of the upsides to personal magic was that it didn't always require specific practice and training. A personal mage after all, Clyde reminded himself, acted as much on instinct and willpower as he did on planning or techniques. He willed it to happen, and if it was within the magic it usually did.

It was one of the reasons it was possible to actively use it in combat, since variation and initiative could be taken to react to new and unexpected circumstances. His attempt at a lightning smack with his staff had been one such attempt, though clearly not a fully thought out one.

It had worked, but not as he'd intended.

Next time, he knew, he'd try a lightning jab, not a smack, and perhaps then he'd keep his hands on the staff and not lose it.

If there was a next time.

As he stood over the corpse of the boar, his mind jumped to Cha, focusing on her. As he had learned to do long ago, he reached out for her, and through his connection and bond to the staff knew where she was. He got a clear sense of direction, and could have pointed at it right then. Until he noticed it was moving, that the point of her presence was not stable as it should have been, wherever it had fallen.

For a moment a sense of panic and abandonment fell across him, until it registered in his mind that Cha was moving towards him, and not away.

When the girl from before returned to him, now holding out Cha, he fought the urge to snatch it from her grip, instead just smiling and nodding his head.

If he hadn't been so preoccupied he might have notice the pain on her aura. As it was, now that he was losing the immediate need of the staff, the fear of losing it, he was able to focus on the aura. However, he quickly noticed not just the pain, but how.... Weak his magic felt. Normally the reading at this distance would be crystal clear, pulling in information fast and processing it in his head into various outbursts of information.

He still had skill, and still knew quite a bit but... Not as much as normal. The only different from before and now was Cha. Which meant that his loss of the staff had literally weakened him. An unforeseen circumstance he'd not heard of or known about Magic Staff's before then.

It was clear the woman was in pain, was physically hurt to some degree, though he wasn't sure where. He also noticed now that he looked at her with his more mundane focus, that she was sweating in an unhealthy way, a way that didn't appear to just be because of the exercise of running from the beast.

“Here, why don't you sit down, take a rest. Are you hurt? We can make camp later. You don't look so good.”

Clyde would help the girl to sit down, and then retrieve Cha from her, before dropping his pack on the ground.

Looking over a the boar, Clyde smiled quickly, also noticing he'd left his bloodied hammer resting next to it, noting to himself he'd need to fetch it and clean the sledge off.

Going through his pack Clyde began to go through things, trying to find something of use. As he did he stumbled upon an old container brought back from Mura long ago.

“So, did the boar get you? How bad? I've got some cattail ash, if you'd like to use some. Though mind you its a bit old. But I got it from a healer on Mura who helped me make it, and it was supposed to be good stuff back then.”

This was hard for Shiress. Not just the pain and her injuries, but the vulnerability of it all. Not to mention the Bronze Wood itself. Nothing ever good came from visiting these woods. Ever.

The last time she ventured farther than a stroll, herself and the two Knights escorting her, came under attack by a host of Zith. She had nearly died when the last surviving Zith stabbed her. One Knight did die. Before that, she had killed her former slave master in these very woods, after a torturous attempt of reclaiming his escaped property. She'd nearly died then, too.

Needless to say she was uneasy of her surroundings. Now, add a debilitating injury, a dagger sheathed in her thigh, and a stranger in the mix. She wanted to make it back to the city, but doing so before nightfall, at this point, was hopeless. At least she wasn't alone. But she couldn't help but wonder if she'd be better off alone. There was something about this man that wasn't right, but she just couldn't put her finger on it. The staff meant a lot to him, she could see it in his expression when he saw her with it. Not to mention it had flown off in the wrong direction for no apparent reason. And the...animal companion.

She had bigger concerns, now, though. She needed to get that dagger out and clean her wounds before they festered. And with the heat and a filthy tusk, that wouldn't take long. She needed help, though. That meant revealing to the man 'hey, if you want to rape me or murder me, let me show you just how easy it will be!' Why couldn't she just run into a nice, gentle, old lady. That was a doctor. And had whiskey.

Trust issues sucked.

As it was, the girl knew she couldn't make it back to the city and she was, indeed, starting to feel more than just her injuries. Light headed, dizzy, and a bit nauseous. Blood loss sucked, too. Besides, the man offered and she did need the help. But could she trust him? She decided to play it safe for a little while longer. If she fell unconscious anytime soon, he could find out she had lied then, as he mutilated her corpse and fed it to that..dog thing. Or so her mind envisioned it.

Unclasping her cloak, she laid it across her legs, as she lowered herself to the ground. She propped most her weight on the left side and gently straightened her right leg out in front, away from the mans direct line of sight. Or so she hoped. She'd remove the dagger as soon as she had the chance. Right now, the tusk wound needed cleaning.

"I'm fine, truly." she lied, giving a weak smile. "He got me on my calf, but it's not that bad. I'll clean it and it should be ok." she watched as the man rummaged around in his own bag, producing a small container, and offering it forward. "Cattail?" she asked, accepting it "I've never heard of it, but it cant hurt, right?"

The cut, more a gash, already looked angry and quite red. It seeped blood, more than bleeding freely. Unstrapping her bag, she pulled it around to her lap, and retrieved the water skin, and slid her ankle closer, angling to reach her calf. A jolt of pain shot up her thigh as the dagger embedded there shifted. Shiress' stomach lurched and she fought back the remains of the apple she had eaten earlier. She shifted awkwardly and let the water flow over the wound.

Then, she dribbled a bit of water into her palm, making a paste of the cattail ash and placed it directly into the cut. Ripping her dress more than it already was, she made a make shift bandage and tied it around the wound. "There!" she said, smiling, stretching out to offer the container back. The dagger shifted again and the container fell from her fingers. This time, she couldn't hold back. Drawing in a long breath through clinched teeth, the girl fell to her elbow, then to her back, hand clutching the dagger through her skirt, the edges of her vision darkening. She could feel there, why she was so light headed; the side of her skirt was wet and sticky with a lot of blood.

"Okay" she said, doing her best to stay in control. And conscious. I have a favor to ask." she panted, between rapid breaths. Shiress slid the tail of her skirt up, revealing the hilt of the embedded dagger "Can you take this out for me, please?

By her face and tone alone, Clyde knew the woman lied. It was clear she wasn't fine, and was in a great deal of pain. He could tell this even without the aid of the tang of strong pain clearly radiating off her aura.

When she made mention of the cattail Clyde culled through his memory of long ago on Mura with the healer and tried to recall what all she had said then about the medicinal properties of the cattail.

“Yes, you can eat them, but a healer explained them to me once before. She said something about using the honey to help with wounds... But the ash here, she said it helped to make wounds stop bleeding and helped to stop infection from setting in. She said some other things, but I can't fully recall right now, its been awhile.”

Clyde watched as the woman used the cattail ash, cleaning out the wound with water and then turning the ash into a paste to pack into the wound. Then she pulled off a scrap of clothe from her dress, and tied it like a makeshift bandage over the wound.

It was soon clear though that this was not her only wound.

That was when he saw the blood in full, as she pulled up her skirt and showed the dagger stuck in her leg.

For a moment she wondered how a boar had stuck her in the leg with a dagger, but then he reminded himself boar didn't have hands and didn't have human weapons. He also then recalled the small slash wound on the boars flank. It made a sort of logic then that this girl had tried to hurt the boar, had got a small hit in, but had then in her inexpert usage of the blade managed to stab herself with it.

When she asked a favor of him, requesting him to take out the dagger, Clyde just shook his head.

“Me! But... I don't know how! What if I do it wrong, or make it worse? I mean... I've no training in such things, I'm not healer!”

As he watched he could see the girl was visibly growing fainter, the source of the problem clearly the blood seeping out of the wound around the dagger. And he imagined that once he took it out, the bleeding would only get worse. Clearly she wasn't in any condition to do it herself, and he'd need to do something.

“Fine, I'll do it, but you'd better stay awake and talk me through it, I don't know how.”

Repeating the process he had seen her use, he tore off another length of the clothe of her apparel, further damaging it but making another makeshift bandage.

As he did this he felt out with his aura sight, focusing and expanding the aura's of the dagger and the woman. Sensing both at once, he could see the wound clearly along with the dagger, see how each laid and how the dagger had entered.

He hoped by doing this, by seeing the wound and the blade, that he would be able to guide the dagger back out the way it had come and do the minimum amount of damage.

Setting aside the bandage and putting the jar of ash within reach, along with the water, he set Clyde against his leg and carefully took a grip on the dagger. Carefully and slowly, he tried to ease the blade back out the way it had come, a process that caused the level of bleeding to increase.

Clyde assumed this was because he'd done something wrong, but more likely than not it was simply due to the blockage being removed as the dagger came out and stopped stopping it.

Watching the process with his mundane eyes, and carefully comparing the aura and physical sight and appearance of the wound and the dagger, he pulled it out of her leg. The entire process took perhaps half a chime, in his attempt to do it slowly and without causing any more damage.

As soon as the blade completely came out of her leg, the level of bleeding increased, and Clyde moved to spill water across it and clean it out as he'd seen the woman do with the smaller wound.

At this very moment, Shiress was swearing off the use of a dagger for the rest of her life. Either that, or actually learn, not only to adequately defend herself with a blade, but a few safety measures for herself, as well.

"Unless you are a surgeon, or there's one wandering around nearby in the woods, all you can do is pull it out. Shiress said, pausing to moisten her lips "Just pull it out slowly, following the direction it went in. This was going to hurt. Like a child, part of her wanted to tell the man to yank it out the same way it had went in, like what you would do with a briar, or a bandage stuck on hair, but she knew better.

Shiress gave the man a wide, reassuring smile I'll stay awake she said, hoping as much as the man that she would. Drawing in a breath, she tried her best to relax. She closed her eyes and steadied her breathing. "Okay, do it.."

Shiress' hands balled into fist, clamping around sticks and dirt, as the blade began to move. The process was relentless and slow. By the time the man had the blade free, the girl was visibly shaking from head to toe, but had managed not to make a sound, save audible changes in breathing. The pain, though bad enough, was nothing like she had expected. The long, drawn out, inevitable agony was not there. Only a sharp twang, then a dull ache. She was fully impressed.

Shiress lifted her head, seeing the man retrieving the water skin, and promptly lowered it again, as a wave of nausea settled in the pit of her stomach. "You are better ..." she began, but her voice cracked. She cleared her throat, licked her lips, and tried again. "You are better at this than you think" she smiled warmly "Now, take the cloth and put pressure on it. Hard pressure, until the bleeding slows."

Shiress opened her eyes, wondering when they had closed and for how long. It couldn't have been long. The man was still beside her, face intent with a mission. She studied that sharp featured face a tick, the striking blue eyes, before speaking. "Thank you for helping me" she said, placing a small hand, appreciatively, on the mans arm. "My name is Shiress, by the way"

She reached down and tore another long length of material from her skirt. A skirt that was growing scandalously short, what with all the needed bandages. "Did you watch as I made a paste with the cattail ash?" she asked, nodding toward the jar of herb, " Place a good amount on the wound and place that cloth over it." she nodded to the cloth the man held in his long, slim fingers. "It will insure the medicine doesn't bleed away. Use this one" she offered forward the one she held "as a bandage and wrap it around my leg and over the cloth on my wound. Then.." she reached yet again for her skirt. This time tearing away a long, slim portion and handing it to the stranger, "use this to tie the bandage in place"

"You will be a doctor before you know it." she laughed, bravely, trying to give the man more reassurance than she felt, as she fought against unconscious. And vomiting. She would spend all her strength to avoid either. She had had enough vulnerability for one day.

Once her leg was bandaged and secured, Shiress forced herself to her elbows and pulled herself backward, to rest in a half sitting, half laying, position on the trunk of a tree, letting her head rest against it, as yet another wave of dizziness and nausea protested her movement. "Now" she began, situating herself, green eyes finding the strangers blue "lets see how well your cattail works."

She grinned, finding it hard to look away from such blue eyes. "Tell me about yourself." her gaze dipped to the beast by the mans side, brow arching "And what that is.."

Stranger meets girl (Clyde)

Once the blade was out and the wound rinsed, Clyde followed her directions, focusing on the task at hand and disregarding the compliment.

Using the makeshift bandage he'd prepared before, Clyde placed it across the opening of the wound, and applied pressure with both hands. He was glad she'd not passed out, as he didn't want to think how things would go if he had to figure it out himself.

Clyde gave it a moment, as it seemed did the woman, as she didn't bark out any more orders right away.

About a chime later it seemed the bleeding had lessened a bit, and his "patient" began to speak again. Of course, there was also the chance she had simply passed out for a minute, and hadn't given any orders because of that.

Clyde nodded at her name, responding with his own. “Clyde. Clyde Sullins.”

After that it was back to work, following her directives in further care. He took the cattail ash and removed a healthy chunk, adding in some water to make it more of a paste than a dry heap. It was perhaps similar to how she did it, but his was a bit more watered down than hers had been, having added a bit too much water.

He placed it over the wound, trying to press it in firmly as she had with the first smaller injury. Then as directed he placed the offered clothe bandage over the watered down paste. Lastly he took the slimmer bit of clothe, and used it to tie the entire heap of things into place, gently lifting up her leg to move it underneath, and then tying a simple not on top right over the injury for added pressure for the bleeding.

He was about to respond to her request to tell her about himself, when she asked a question he found quite odd, puzzlement crossing his face.

He looked at what she was gazing at just to confirm she meant Rye.

“Uh... Did you also hit your head? Or are you from some really far off place. Have you never seen a dog before? You know, dog, they go "Woof", four legs, a tail. Well, most have a tail... Have you never seen one before? Or have you lost more blood than I thought...”

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

Stranger meets girl (Clyde)

Shiress' eyes narrowed at the sarcasm, though, she could see his point. The 'dog' did look like a dog, but the girl had never known a dog to have red eyes before. Nor had she known a dog with such a coat color as this one.

She couldn't help but give a childish giggle at Clyde's description of the species. She let her eyes scrutinize the beast a tick, before moving her gaze back to Clyde, studying the sharp angles of his face, lingering on his eyes again, before giving a snorted laugh "Yes" she said, bobbing her head "I know what a dog is, but I haven't seen one such as this one" she placed a hand on her still unsettled belly and frowned "What's his, her, name? What kind of dog is it?"

Reaching for the water skin, she brought it to her mouth, pulling in a small amount, and swallowing cautiously, hoping it wouldn't reappear a tick later."It is a beautiful dog" she offered, tilting her head to the side "Well trained and loyal, I think" she paused, taking another drink of water, knowing she needed the hydration, then offered the skin to Clyde, knowing he needed it as well.

"I have a cat" she laughed "His name is Shadow. Though sometimes I wonder if he's more human, than cat. Or maybe a Kelvic" Her gaze went distant, with raised eyebrows, as she pondered this. Saying it out loud caused the thought to linger. What if Shadow was a Kelvic? Bringing her attention back to the man, she shook her head. "Anyway"

"Are you from the city, Mr. Sullins? I've not seen you in the Stallion, before she asked, wanting to know more about this Clyde fella. "What brings you to The Bronze Wood so late in the day?"

Clyde frowned at the girl's giggle, unsure if she was making fun of him, or if it really was the blood loss. After all, he had just taken a piece of steel out of her leg, and she didn't seem fazed or in pain at all.

Quickly enough she cleared up her earlier statement, explaining she meant the breed of dog and not dogs in general.

Clyde turned down the offered water, as he had some of his own with his stuff.

“Its Rye. He is a bozderon shadow dog. And he is well trained, though not by me. I payed extra to get one with extra training so he'd be a good guard dog.”

“His breed has some unique abilities not found in most dogs, but I don't think they are too rare of a breed. Just not common pets and such.”

Her next question pressed back to her earlier question, prying into his life and who he was. It struck him as a bit rude to pry into someone's life like that, particularly someone who'd just helped them as Clyde had.

Raising back up to his feet, Clyde went to fetch his hammer lying bloody on the ground near the boar, going to clean it off and inspect the boar. He wanted to double check he'd not left any signs of his magic on it, but with a cursory examination he quickly saw that any signs of the lightning was marred by the crushed and smashed head.

“Do you know how to cook? I could try and make a fire, and if you do we could try and cook some of the boar. I'm afraid I've not got much experience with cooking, but I'd be willing to give it a try.”

“And yes, I am from the city. The reason I've not been in the Stallion is that I don't drink.”

“As for why I'm out here, I was planning to go camping tonight. I thought it'd be a nice quiet night outside of the walls. But that hasn't quite worked out... So what are you doing out here then? Whats your tale?”
