Garland gave a few test swings with his sword and nodded contently, this will work. He noticed that she had two weapons on her right now, was she proficient with two weapons? She didn't seem like she was use to using two weapons and the fact that she only had one weapons in the previous fight supported this.

Whatever her plan of attack was, Garland would be ready with a block. He raised up three fingers. "On the count of three..." He closed his fist and started to count. "One... Two... Three!" He yelled, making sure she heard him. He was going to try to be defensive about this, move slow and with caution, never going in for a risky move, or taking a risky maneuver.

He circled his smaller opponent, eyeing her, scanning how she would react, how she would approach him. Would she spring in with a flurry of attacks or would she attack slowly and keep him guessing, he didn't know, but he will be ready for whatever she was planning to throw at him.

He raised his shield up to his chest, protecting him from any attacks up front, also he could easily shift his shield to protect him from lower or higher attacks, though Sekai probably couldn't hit him from above, then again he needed to be prepared for anything.

He stepped lightly on the snow covered ground, the terrain would be harsh this winter, he needed to be extra careful in combat during winter, one wrong step and you can slip and get probably draw your last breath. Icy mist came out of Garland's mouth, chilling him, he drew the cold air into his lungs, breathing was key in a fight, and he wanted every advantage he could get.

Sekai carefully looked over the squire's stance, paying more attention to the shield's positioning than the rest. With that sword centered as such, it might make her ridiculous plan even less likely to succeed. Or....maybe not...?

Even when the signal was given to start, she, like the squire, had circled carefully. Noting how the squire had continue to stay in a more defensive positioning, Sekai decided to make the first move.

Immediately breaking into a run, she bolted towards the squire, before attempting to land the first strike. She had drew back the shortsword in her right hand, with her hand almost touching her left arm, before swinging at the last second. Though her trajectory was rather obvious, it being the shield held by the squire, she did not attempt to slice it with the blade. Though she swung the sword, she did not swing the blade. Instead, she pushed forward, intent on striking the shield with the pommel of the sword.

He watched as he and Sekai circled each other. He had his shield raised up, noting every move Sekai was doing, she just seemed to be observing him as well, noting his movements through the snow, she was especially keen on his feet, was she going to attack his legs? Try to trip him up maybe?

He didn't have time to think since his answer came to him in a fast run. She had drawn back her one of her shortswords. He expected a slash towards his chest, seeing as she had her sword raised and poised to strike, so that is why he raised his shield to block her incoming strike.

Instead though, he saw her closing in, she was close enough to strike him with her sword, but instead he found a pommel coming right towards him.

He leaned back just in time to dodge the unexpected attack. He saw that the pommel was mere inches away from his face, he moved his head to the side and countered with a quick swing with his sword.

She could block it with sword or she could dodge, either way it seemed rather unlikely since he countered quite quickly.

Sekai frowned slightly, as she watched her first strike miss it's mark. Quickly pivoting on one foot, only to widen her eyes in surprise as she saw the blade of the squire's sword moving towards her. Having not enough time to bring her main sword back, she could only dodge it. However, with her momentum, it was highly unlikely that she could actually change directions.

However, yet another idea flashed through her head, one probably more ridiculous than her last one. But it might work. In the middle of her turn, she dropped the sword in her left hand, in the path of her moving feet. Yes, her plan involved tripping herself under the sword swing. Falling to the snow covered ground, she wasted no time in rolling away from the squire, before springing back up to her feet, the sword in her right hand raised, her left hand emptyhanded.

Clearly, she was the one who underestimated the squire, a mistake she would need to be careful not to make again. Carefully gauging her opponent, Sekai let out her breath that she had subconsciously held.

She had gotten away fast. He gave a small smile, she rather impressive to say the least. Using her momentum to trip herself up and avoid a very lethal(if this was real combat) blow was actually quite ingenious. With a small step forward, he held his sword to his chest, holding with two hands in an attack stance.

He circled around her, watching ever closely at how she would react, he was in a difficult position to block or parry right now, but he wouldn't need to, he needed to press his attack and he will not let up.

He had discarded his shield and rushed in, aiming for Sekai's sword hand. He gave a quick swing towards Sekai's sword, to try and keep her busy and guessing. He kept on the pressure, attacking hard, but he was getting slower. He was tiring himself out.

He was placing himself there for a little while, keeping her defending, and finally he attacked her hand, she could have dodged the attack, but he did not have enough energy to continue this little skirmish.

He backed off and quickly grabbed his shield. He was back to the defending stance. He looked back at his handiwork, her sword was nearly useless now, just a few more swings would have broken that weapon.

Off all the possiblities of different attacks that Garland could have done, she was not expecting a frontal assault, devoid of anything defensive. However, even when focused on the offense, Sekai wasn't given a chance to counter attacks.

By the time the squire had backed off, her sword was already heavily damaged, and most likely unusable. That, and her hand was extremely numb from holding the sword tightly during the clash.

She looked at Garland carefully, trying to come up with another plan. With the differences in their height and builds, she was at a disadvantage in frontal assaults. Which means she would have to come up with something unexpected.

She ran towards the squire, before drawing back and swinging her sword, pommel aimed at the shield, once again using the same method of attack that she used the first time. However, midway through, she let go of the sword, allowing it to fly hilt first towards Garland. At the same time, she lowered herself to grab the sword discarded during their first clash, and hurriedly swung towards the legs with and awkward, crouched position.

His attack had been a success, but he didn't have the time to celebrate with his attack. He watched Sekai silently, judging her movements and waiting for a chance at a counter attack that should finish the fight.

He watched as she took the same position she did in her previous attack, it would have been effective if your opponent was slow or if he was distracted. Her frontal attack would have been good enough if it was real fight, a good feint could turn the tide of battle. He watched and raised his shield to block the incoming attack, the sword was almost useless, even an old stick would be equally useful as the sword, any stronger attack and the sword would shatter in two.

He watched as Sekai did what she had done before, when she was close enough, instead of attacking with the sword or the pommel, she attacked by throwing the nearly useless weapon at Garland, he blocked the sword easily, but she had slipped pass his vision because of the shield and attacked his leg with her other sword, the one she had discarded earlier.

Her attack caught him off guard and he fell down and landed on the snow. He raised up his sword at an attempt to defend while he was down. He could stand up quickly enough, but without the small defense his sword gave, he would have gotten a sword to the neck.

He raised his sword at Sekai. "Not bad, should we continue... I would have been beaten in a real fight right now." Honestly though, he could have rolled and bought himself a few precious seconds and maybe counter Sekai's attack, but with him on the ground, she could easily knock the sword out of his hand and finished the fight. He raised his hand as if he's asking to be helped up. If Sekai grabbed his hand and tried to pull him up, she would have slipped and he would pull her down on him.

Carefully, and slowly rising up from her crouched position, she looked at Garland, who was still on the ground, before smiling. Lowering her sword, she nodded. "That was a good fight. A continuation doesn't sound to bad." Leaving her sword at her side, she reached out her hand to grab the outstretched hand. However, before she could attempt to help the squire up, she found herself moving in the opposite direction.

Falling onto the squire, Sekai coughed softly, unprepared for the impact, despite being rather light. After glancing up at Garland for several ticks, she asked with amusement, "Was this part of your plan?" with a small smile, partially obscured by her hair that had shifted over and covered her face.

He gave a small smile and licked her nose. "Maybe~" He said with a wink and pushed her off into the snow. He got up and dusted himself off. "Haha! Don't worry, I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you." He said and offered his hand to help her up.

He pulled her up and helped her dust off the snow on her body. "Hey, I like you. We should really train some more when you have time, it might be good to have someone to train with." He said with a small sincere smile.

He turned to leave the ring, he picked up the weapons and returned to the weapons rack, he grabbed his bastard sword and dusted off the flakes of snow that had found it's way on sheathe of the blade. "Sekai, would you like to join the knights? It might be a good thing since you can train there. You don't have to become a full knight, maybe just a squire. I'm not forcing you or anything, I just think that maybe you would like to join."

He gave a tiny laugh climbed up a low broken wall. "It would be nice to have a friend with train with, most of the other squires are just too busy or too new to the fighting." He gave a sigh and sat down on the wall, he placed his sword on the wall and waited for Sekai to join him if she wanted.

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *
