The evening was balmy, but not too hot for a merciful breeze was rolling gently off the sea. Torches flickered on the beach near the Tidepool Bar, almost as if they were dancing along to the strains of music that could be heard from the ranchos that sat over the water. People were milling around on the sand and inside the Bar, Syka’s residents having gathered in one place at the persuasion of an individual.

The individual in question was currently sat on the bar top itself, orange drink in hand and a smile plastered over her face. Wearing her brightest dress, an off-the-shoulder pink one, and her hair adorned with tiny seashells, Sophia Sunshore was bringing a Svefran party to the shores of Syka.

For the last few days, Sophia had been stopping every resident she had come across to invite them to the gathering and to pass the message along. Stu, Syka’s resident Priest and owner of the Tidepool had listened to her plan with enthusiasm and responded by going all out for her. The man would easily fit in with the Svefra for he appeared to love a party as much as, if not more than they did!

She had arrived early to decorate the bar with strings of seashells that she had been gathering throughout the season, and to set up the torches so that the dancing could easily spill out onto the beach. Sophia hoped that the residents would bring along stories and traditions from Syka and beyond, for there was such a blend of people inhabiting the paradise they were all lucky enough to call home.

With Syna starting to sink below the horizon for the evening, the skies mirrored the orange glow of the torches and the pink of Sophia’s dress. The Tidepool Bar was filling up with people chattering and catching up, and the docks were being used as impromptu dance floors, people clapping and stamping their feet in time with the beat. It seemed that Sykan’s could not resist a party with most of the prominent figures even milling about. Sophia waved at Randal from her perch on the bar, reminding herself to get the carpenter a drink for all the work he had put in helping out with her home.

Uta was here too, joining Sophia in conversation with a couple of residents she had not met before. She was recounting, with Sophia, one of the Svefra’s first forays into the jungle where she continually tripped over everything and managed to almost get stuck up a tree. The botanist was good-naturedly rolling her eyes and Sophia chuckled into her drink as the other residents guffawed with laughter, her feet tapping the side of the bar in time with the music. She downed the rest of her cup and placed it on the bar top, gaze sweeping over the room to decide if it was time to join in with the dancing.

Kamilla Circe Gordon

Kamilla wasn’t one for public events, especially parties, not since she’d fled Sunberth years ago becoming somewhat of a loner, but when the blonde, Sophia, had so eagerly invited her to her birthday party several days ago after saving Roo, she’d been unable to say no. Her precious annoying talking plant had been thriving since receiving the botanists assistance, so Kamilla figured she’d owed the blonde this at least.

The mage was wearing her animated scarf, Scarlett, wrapped tightly around her bust with help of a command spoken in a deep manly voice and a simple short black skirt with longer lace tail, her thighigh boots ever present to hide her hideous burn scar. Lips were painted red, eyes lined with black and hair fell in long dark and wild locks, while copper earrings, necklace, armband and rings adorned her tan skin. It had been a long time since she’d gotten dressed up, but the moment she’d arrived at the bar and laid eyes on the birthday girl, all thoughts of her own appearance vanished.

Sophia was sat on the bar, with a drink in her hand, easy to spot, and looking absolutely stunning. Kamilla felt herself pause for a moment to take in the blonde’s appearance. Pink had never been a colour they interested Kamilla, but Sophia seemed to thrive in it, her dress pulled gazed toward her while her hair draped with shells secured them. Of course she’d thought the blonde was pretty since meeting her, but this was an entirely new level.

Taking a moment to gather her wits again, Kamilla bravely made her way toward the birthday girl, smiling widely as she came to a stop in front of her. ”Sophia, happy birthday. You look beautiful, honestly. I hope you’re enjoying yourself.” The words had come out a tad more enthusiastic than was normal for the mage, but it didn’t matter. She leaned in closer to the Svefra and spoke more quietly, though not by much since there was music and laughter everywhere, ”Roo wanted to come along too, but I told him I’d wish you on his behalf. Thanks again, you really saved him.” Done. She’d made an appearance and was ready to leave if she so pleased, though she considered staying a bit longer, at least until she’d committed every part of the blonde’s appearance to memory. Perhaps she’d be able to recreate the look and dress for sales.

Finn hurried towards the Tidepool bar, he could hear the music had already started and he didn’t want to be late to the party. He wore pants, a dark blue shirt, new and still bright, and for the moment at least he wore sandals but didn’t doubt they would be ditched within chimes after he arrived at the Tidepool. In true Svefra fashion he also wore a copper necklace, bracelet, and ring that he was kind of fond because it came from his pod. Camira cried as she flew overhead to land on top of the bar, probably in the hopes of another free meal. That bird seemed to eat anything she could get her beak onto.

He admired the beautiful sunset as he made his way through the people, the music and laughter only boosted his already good mood. He hadn’t been to a real party in a couple of seasons so he was quite glad she had put this one together as it already enthused him. People were grouped here and there to talk, a few had started dancing on the docks, and most everyone seemed to have a drink in hand. He realised that he knew very few of the people from Syka yet as he looked around at the gathered crowd.

The pretty young Svefra was easily spotted as she sat on the bar in her pink dress where she could see everyone and everything going on. He was mildly surprised to see Sophia and Kamilla having a conversation as he made his way towards the bar and ordered “Can we have three rum punches over to the birthday girl please?” as he pointed down to Sophia. He really expected that the drinks may beat him over there as well but he started weaving his way over to her as well.

Finn gave the two lovely ladies a big grin as he approached them from behind Kamilla, although glad he didn’t already see anything on Sophia’s neck. He acknowledged the dark eyed mage as he passed by her “Great to see you Kamilla, hope your doing good! You certainly look nice tonight” Although he hadn’t doubted her ability, she appeared to be thriving here in Syka but he didn’t want to be rude to the party’s hostess either.

“Hope you have a happy birthday Sophia! And this is for our lovely hostess” he told her as he stepped next to the woman and leaned against the bar beside while he held up the copper necklace that he had draped over his index finger and waited for her. “The birthday girl needs her present and we all need some Rum Punch” he told them as the bartender arrived with their drinks.

Uta had moved off to speak to someone she had spotted over the other side of the room, and the two others had huddled into their own conversation. Sophia was still sat on the bar, feet tapping away when a familiar face caught her eye.

Kamilla was weaving her way through the room towards her, and the Svefra smiled brightly at her, the corners of her eyes crinkling. She slid off the bar top as Kamilla approached, leather-sandaled feet hitting the floor with a light thud. Her smiled turned into what can only be described as a beam at the brunette’s words and she pulled her into a hug, the drinks she had already consumed leading her to forget about things like personal space and the simple fact that not everyone liked physical contact. ”Thank you! I am!”

It didn’t last for long and she let Kamilla go, chuckling at the mention of Roo. ”Ahh tell Roo thank you too. I’m so glad he’s feeling better.” Sophia leaned back to see Kamilla’s outfit better. ”You look great tonight, red suits you Kamilla.” Sophia nodded to herself. ”You should wear it more often.” She still didn’t understand quite how the brunette managed to wear the tall boots without overheating, but they did finish off the whole look quite well.

Over Kamilla’s shoulder, Sophia caught sight of another figure approaching. She smiled and waved at Finn, blinking in surprise as he greeted Kamilla by name. ”Ah you two know each other already?” Syka was fairly small, so she really shouldn’t have been surprised by the fact. Her eyes then fell on the necklace that appeared in Finn’s hand, swinging lightly from his finger and glinting in the twinkling lights. ”Oh that’s so pretty… are you sure? Thank you so much!” Sophia let Finn clip it round her neck, before she pulled him into a hug too.

”I’m so glad you both made it!” She didn’t have too many friends in Syka. Truthfully, she wasn’t sure if the trio had reached the level of friends yet, but these two were currently the closest she had to some. As more drinks arrived, seemingly also from Finn, she passed them out and clinked each of their glasses with her own. The punch was stronger than the Sunrise’s she had been drinking but that just made her smile wider.
Sophia’s feet were still tapping, and after a couple of sips she turned to the other two again. ”Do either of you want to dance?” The Svefra would happily pull one or both of them out onto the docks to join in the stamping and clapping. She had a feeling that Kamilla was not the dancing type however, so she would happily settle into conversation, or a game, or whatever else everyone was comfortable with.

I don't like my writing today... I really hope this is okay. I really wanted to get something out so I've gone with it!

While Kamilla wasn’t exactly elated when the blonde embraced her, she allowed the hug to run its course, neither reciprocating or rejecting it. She figured that the Svefra was already a few drinks into the night and so, wouldn’t hold it against her, already offering a small smile as Sophia transitioned from hugs to compliments. Kamilla had always liked the way she looked in red, so it was nice of Sophia to confirm that it did indeed suit her.

She’d been about to open her mouth, considering excusing herself now that she’d made an appearance, when a familiar figure appeared beside her, Finn. The Male Svefra offered her a smile and a compliment, but she reciprocated the smile, though she couldn’t help but think that the dark blue shirt contrasted his warm skin and blonde hair well. ”Hey Finn...” She was surprised to discover that he and Sophia knew eachother, though on second though they were both Svefra, which made them more likely companions in comparison to the odds of either of them knowing her. It did seem they knew eachother well as Finn offered the Sophia a beautiful looking necklace as a gift.

”Finn’s the one that ferried me across the Suvan from Riverfall to Syka...” She finished the statement with a shrug, not seeing any reason to elaborate.

Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a man appeared with three drinks apparently ordered by Finn and before Kamilla could say ‘no thanks’ the drink had been thrust into her hand, leaving her to shrug and ‘just go with it’ for the second time that night.

”Do either of you want to dance?”

Kamilla stiffened, while she may have been willing to go along with more than usual in favor of the helpful svefra’s birthday, dancing was not one of them. Subtly sipping at her drink, Kamilla used her free hand to politely shove Finn forwards, effectively offering him up as a sacrifice to save her own skin, shooting him a guilty smile as she did. A silent ‘Sorry’ was mouthed as well.

Finn was glad that Sophia seemed to like the gift as he closed the clasp and let her hair fall back over her back, a small jingle came from her seashells as they fell back in place. The necklace looked nice against her tanned skin. She startled him for just a tick as she pulled him in for a hug, not that he minded in the least though he hadn’t expected it. He slid an arm around her as he returned her hug before he stepped off to the side of the two women.

A small laugh escaped Finn when Kamilla answered Sophia’s question about knowing each other as he didn’t add to her statement at all. Although he couldn’t hide the smile he shot at the dark haired woman as he thought back to their trip across the Suvan at the beginning of the season and one that he wouldn’t forget easily.

“Wouldn’t of missed your party.” He answered Sophia before he accepted the drinks she handed out to Kamilla and himself. “I hope you enjoy your birthday and your party!” Finn toasted after she clinked their glasses. He took a large drink of the punch as he looked around at everyone having fun talking, dancing, or playing games. The Svefra lady seemed to be quite popular by the size of the crowd at the bar..

“I would….” Finn’s answer was interrupted by a shove in his lower back that caused him to nearly spill his drink. It didn’t surprise him the Kamilla didn’t want to dance, he used his free hand to reach behind his back and gently grabbed at the offending hand or wrist to pull her with them as he finished his statement to the ladies “I wouldn’t mind a dance at all, shall we?”. The young Svefra had no issues with any party, whether they danced or not as Svefra parties were always entertaining at the least without prompting from anyone.

Kamilla’s shrug didn’t actually go unnoticed by him but he simply chose to ignore it as he smiled back at her and motioned her to follow after Sophia. He mouthed back ‘Dance’ as he tried to coax the mage into joining the festivities with them. He set his punch down on the bar after he took another drink from it so he could follow after the Svefra lady himself, her pink dress easy to follow around the small groups of people that stood talking in the bar as they made their way towards the dock where people were dancing.
