Lost in the rigging

Postby Marino Oceangem on May 17th, 2020, 6:37 am

Marino dived after Tazrae, following her down for a while till they grew closer to the reef below. He swam slowly, conserving his energy while they paddled through the water. When they were close enough, he realized the same problem Tazrae did, and tried exhaling some of the air in his lungs which helped him stabilize somewhat to where he only had to paddle occasionally upwards to maintain his position. However, he was very conscious of the fact he wouldn’t be able to stay down here for long because he was not a experienced diver. So he did his best to soak it all in with Tazrae while they were down here.

The reefs, to his delight, teemed with all sort of life. From little fish that flitted about, to other creatures that clung to the protection of the coral. Twist stalked from above, but for the moment he didn’t seem to interested in the reef. Knowing him, he probably wanted a large group to chase than a small fish hiding in a reef.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw Tazrae start up, and he quickly followed her. His lungs were starting to burn anyways. Surfacing near her, he smiled as she talked about the reef, and he basked in her excitement. “You did great down there. Didn’t even need Twist.” He splashed in Twist’s direction to accentuate the point, prompting the dolphin to dive under the water only to resurface and resume his spying from well behind Marino.

I’m sure there is. It always feels new seeing everything, and I don’t names of at least half the things down there. I heard there might be someone in Syka who is good with plants. If I learn them, I promise you’ll be the first I tell.” Though perhaps ocean plants weren’t her specialty he considered, but it couldn’t hurt to ask in any case. He could hear Tazrae breathing hard, but he just chalked it up to excitement.

Sure” he said after thinking about it. “You can take another crack sailing on our way back if you want.” After speaking, Marino swam to the ship, and after getting aboard, offered her a hand getting back onto the deck. He wave bye to Twist, and then hauled up the anchor. If Tazrae took him up on his offer, he would meet her over by the rigging, glancing from her to it with a grin. “Do you remember which line to start with?

Lost in the rigging

Postby Tazrae on May 17th, 2020, 4:27 pm

Truth be told, if Tazrae was absolutely honest with herself, she loved swimming. She really did. It was liberating and while she was absolutely terrible at it, the worlds below it opened up brought her to her knees with their beauty. She would quietly fall apart thinking about how much of the world she wasn’t part of when Marino wasn’t around. It didn’t take much for the young woman to feel small and vulnerable, but this was a whole new scale to it. She decided she’d practice off her own Inn’s shores when the water was calm. She’d noted that the waters changed there, sometimes the seas rolled in heavy and sometimes they were as still as glass.

“Marino….” She started off curiously, treading water next to him. Tazrae enjoyed his company and while her questions might be trying on his nerves, she hoped he was having a fun day despite that. “The beach off my Inn… sometimes the waves roll in fiercely, huge and foreboding, and sometimes the water is as still as a lake. Do you know why?” She asked abruptly, curious, and thinking perhaps there was no greater source of ‘why’ about the sea than a Svefra. “It’s so beautiful, but its like every day there is a new mood. And its not very predictable. I’d like to practice swimming there more… where the water isn’t so deep. Do you think it would be safe?” She asked, carefully wording the question.

He’d praised her attempts at diving, though she knew she hadn’t lasted as long nor gone as deep as probably any Svefra could. Still the praise made her feel good. She needed more practice, that was certain… after all… Marino had years at it. She’d had… a bell or so?

“If you are looking for a woman that is good with plants, I think it might be Uta. I don’t know her in person, but Juli sold me two salves when I was shopping at the mercantile. One was for sunburn… which she said I’d get. I haven’t… I’ve just gotten more golden every day. I honestly think it’s the desert blood in me. The other was for insects… to keep them from biting you. She said Uta makes them and has a place … she just called it Uta’s Place, on the outskirts of town.” Tazrae supplied the information readily. “Do you think she’d know underwater plants too?” Tazrae mused, then chuckled. “Juli assured me that Uta would teach me how to make both salves. She’s taught everyone that have asked. I’ll need to know, I suspect, for my guests.” Tazrae said, looking thoughtful. “Maybe I’ll go find her in a few days and ask her for lessons. Do you want to come with me?” She asked, pegging Marino for someone that wanted to learn new things just like herself.

Together, they agreed to cut the swimming lesson short. Tazrae didn’t have an ounce of excess flesh on her, but she also didn’t have the stamina nor strength to keep swimming for bells on end being so new to the colony. Her life for the last two years had been one of leisure, and the work here was doing wonders to toughen her up. But it still took time, and the girl wasn’t beyond recognizing she had her limits.

They climbed aboard the casino, and Tazrae took a minute to stretch out on the stern, relax and drink deeply from her waterskin. It was warm by then, the shade having moved from where she’d stowed her original gear, but she was still thirsty and it did much to slack her thirst. She pulled out the oat and honey bars she’d stowed in her bag and handed one to Marino. Taking a second for herself, she began to nibble the treat. It was made of rolled oats baked with brown sugar and coated with almonds that had been sliced thin then drizzled with honey. She also removed two bananas, setting one near him as well. Lunch was light but flavorful. “I’m not happy unless I eat like ten small things a day all day.” She told him wistfully, then patted her bare stomach as if it were now happy it was getting sustenance.

Taz should have felt exposed, sitting on the deck in just her bikini with Marino, but instead, she felt… free. She didn’t want to put her skirt and oversized shirt back on. Even those two gauzy fabric items felt somehow oppressive. She’d originally worn them to ward off sunburn on the water, but her skin wasn’t reacting the way she thought it would. Normally with a deep subtle olive tone to it, Taz had been fairly pale all her life with a golden green undertone. But since moving to Syka where the sun shone all the time, her body had reacted to the exposure with pure happiness and her skin tone had continued to darken until she was almost coppery. It hadn’t offered to turn red even once. She’d always laughed at her father’s claim they were desert people – Benshira – but now she wasn’t so sure he was wrong.

Marino wanted her to take another crack at sailing, as he put it, so when their little break/snack time was over, she nodded and rose, walking up to the mast and studying the lines.

“Well, you started out showing me the… Hay… hay-yar… no halyard? That’s the line that moves the head up and down. I’m not sure if that’s exactly where we start to get underway, because I think we need to pull the anchor first right?” She said, giving him a cocky little grin as if to say “Are you testing me?” Without actually saying that. Tazrae touched the halyard as if to indicate which actual line it was, but then gestured to the anchor. “Wait… do we set up the sails before we pull the anchor or does that make things harder if the ship is being pushed by the wind already?” The girl said, her feet firmly on the deck now and her mouth once more full of questions. There was no fear left in her, no uncertainty of the water… only the curious need to learn. “Lets see.. then you moved on to the leech… which keeps the big one up there… the main sail? You never named it… it keeps it taught right?” She added.

“We need to pull down the boom, bring up the head, draw out the clew? Gods this is so complicated. Am I even remotely close?" She asked, pushing her wet hair out of her eyes and peering up, eyes tracing lines She swore softly, gently, a quiet girl-next-door swear. “You did name it… both those… luft and sheet.” Tazrae said, pointing out each in turn.

“What can I do first?” She finally said, turning to him and shaking her head. “Sit quietly in the corner and watch the real sailors work?” The mirth was evident on her lips. She wasn’t upset, but rather was a person with a lot of new stuff in her head. She remembered the terms well enough, and the order he’d done things – she thought – but she was still uncertain. A salty finger was inserted into the corner of her mouth and she worried at a fingernail with her teeth as she lost herself in thought for a moment, visualizing what needed to be done.

Lost in the rigging

Postby Marino Oceangem on May 17th, 2020, 9:30 pm

Something about the way Tazrae said his name grabbed Marino’s attention. He was again conscious of the fact that he liked the way she said things, though he didn’t know where he was going with that. It wasn’t like him to be so scatter brained. Not wanting to detract from the conversation, he instead focused his thoughts on what she had asked. While he hadn’t been paying much attention to the waters of the Inn, she explained her point well enough that he knew what she was referring to.

However, it was difficult to explain. His mark granted him unique senses in this regard. He always knew which way the tide was without really thinking about it. Still, he wanted to help Tazrae so he took a few chimes to put it into words.

Sorry, you just pose an interesting question.” He said finally after what seemed like an uncomfortable pause to him. “What you saw has to do with the tide cycle. It comes and goes with some still periods in between.” Marino paused, and smiled to himself, remembering something. “My mothers have a story about how it all relates to the passage of the divine. Syna and Leth. Their story is one of a love so strong it can move anything. Even the waters of the sea. Anyways, my mothers tell it better.” He said, and looked away towards Twist as his face flushed slightly. “When the water is still or at least calmer is generally a good time to swim. You’ll be able to see better in it which is necessary if you plan on going it alone. I can take a look for you and tell you when will be a good time for you to go swimming.

He didn’t go into detail about how he would do that as he wasn’t quite sure how to explain the ability to an non-svefra. It was something he’d had with him all of his life, something everyone in his culture had so their had been no need to explain it until now. He realized then that these questions Tazrae posed were another reason he appreciated her company. She got him to think in ways he hadn’t tried before, and he greatly enjoyed that fact.

That’s my hope.” He said, smiling at her mirth. This Uta did indeed sound like a person he should meet. Since he was planning on an extended stay here, he intended to full heed the founder’s advice. That meant learning about the local ecology and in more general terms, how to survive while traveling through the jungle. While the last part gave him some pause, he was determined to tackle this as soon as time would allow. He had a deep need to explore, but first he would need to learn how to safely traverse the jungle.

I would like that very much” He said, nodding.

Back aboard the Seasilk, Marino stretched and took a pull of his waterskin alongside Tazrae. After pouring some of the warm fresh water over his eyes, he gratefully took an oatbar from Tazrae. Biting into it, he found it to be pleasantly sweet. “Thank you.” He said around the bite, though he remembered his manners enough to cover his mouth with the back of his hand. “That is something we can agree on.” It was a nice change of pace, sitting here with her on the deck. He wasn’t fiddling with the sails, or worried about keeping her afloat. Instead, they were just sitting here, enjoying a snack and each-other’s company. A nice, quiet moment with someone was not something he’d had in a while.

Marino soon finished with the bar, and banana, washing it down with another pull from his waterskin. With that out of the way, his mind turned back towards getting them safely home. Grinning back at her, he said. “You were right the first time. We take out the anchor first so we avoid undue stress on the ship when we start to catch the wind.” He didn’t immediately go to do that however as he was enjoying her talk about the sails to much to get to work setting it up just yet. Instead, he simply nodded along as she said what she remembered from earlier till she asked him what to do.

While I get the anchor up, can you pull the boom down, and start drawing up the head? Then we’ll pull the foot out together. After I’ll show you how we are going to catch wind to go around the island from this direction.” He said, quite happy with how much she remembered. As he spoke, he touched the appropriate lines, not because he didn’t think she remembered but because it was so common for him to direct the eye with gestures as he spoke.

After they had gotten that out of the way, Marino stood behind the wheel with Tazrae. The sails had been trimmed appropriately so that the foot had a slight curve to it, and the leech was taut. Bending across the wheel slightly, he watched the sails carefully as he spoke with Tazrae. “Now when we come around the island we don’t want to sail straight into the wind so we are going to do a bit of-” He trailed off and instead gestured in a zig-zag pattern with his hand. “I’m going to need to be pretty hands on with the sails for this so I’m going to need you to turn when I say if thats alright. Then after we’ve done it a couple of times, I’ll leave the turning up to you. For now, just keep this heading.

Then going down to the deck, he flattened to foot so it caught the wind fully before looking up at Tazrae and grinning. “Turn starboard” He called out, while wrapping the outhaul around his right arm, pulling it out taut for now. After they started picking up speed for a few chimes, he called out. “Port now.” And relaxed his grip on the foot allowing it to furl as the ship changed directions. Putting his shoulder to the boom, he lifted it up until they completed their turn. Then, yanking on the kicking strap that ran under the boom, he brought it down again before pulling hard on the outhaul, tightening the foot again. The sail fluttered briefly until the tension took affect and now jerked them towards their knew heading with Marino adjusting his footing according to the sway of the boom.

I didn’t want to catch the wrong wind on the turn.” He called out to her as he spared a glance towards the wheel. “If you look up ahead, you can see that gap between the island and the beach. When get off center from that gap, count five chimes and turn us starboard.” He suspected that she could already see where he was going with this, given how much she had intuited so far. Still he watched forward just in case he needed to say the turn when the time came.

Lost in the rigging

Postby Tazrae on May 18th, 2020, 12:10 am

Tazrae was constantly surprised that with Marino there were no awkward silences and though they’d just met, it felt like they’d known each other for years. He answered all of her questions, the one about the beach outside her Inn taking a bit more thought than she had admitted. But his answer was satisfying enough. “I’d love to invite your mothers over for food and hear the story sometime. I do know a few stories and can retell them from my days in Riverfall. I’ve heard about a million fables and myths too.” She commented idly, without thinking if that was appropriate or not. Syka seemed open to people moving from fire to fire, even gathering in The Commons, and surly an invite to the women of Marino’s family wouldn’t be amiss.

“Thank you for the offer. I would appreciate it if you took a look and gave me some advice on it.” She said quietly, then smiled at him. “I know your people are different… that you all have a special relationship with the sea. With Laviku. I knew that, but I didn’t really know what it meant before I met you… met Twist… saw how the Svefra are here in Syka. Your people are blessed, Marino. They really are. I have been on the receiving end of more than one pitying looks from a Svefra. One was when I was asking Randal how to clean a crab because I didn’t know which parts were edible and which weren’t. But…. I understand more why that came to be. And we must look…. we being us non-Svefra humans… we must seem so … dull. Ungifted.” She said with a little shrug. It wasn’t self-pity, but rather just idle conversation and a bit of empathy towards his people and a sharper clarification as to why some Svefra came across with a little bit of a superior attitude.

When they spoke about Ulta, Tazrae nodded. “I’ll definitely include you then. I really need lessons on sunscreen and bug repellant.” She reiterated, then chuckled. “I wonder what other fantastic recipes she might have as well? My mother used to have this amazing burn cream that would sooth anyone who got burns…. Working around an oven and hot grease, that happened more than I liked to admit. I’d love to get more again.” She mused, looking thoughtfully around.

Then they turned back to sailing, eating a light snack in companionable silence then discussing what they were going to do to sail home. Tazrae was all for trying everything, and she shadowed Marino, trying to anticipate what he wanted done and be a spare pair of hands so he could get the Seasilk underway. She did as he told her, getting the boom in position while he pulled the anchor up. She drew up the head, following his called directions and calling questions of her own as she reset the sails to where they’d been before they’d started tacking across the water. Marino helped her pull the foot out, and she laughed with him as they got into each other’s way more than once.

“I’m looking forward to going back around the island.” She said, standing at the wheel with him finally as he made preparations to get underway. He explained what they were going to do from somewhere close behind and to the side of her, thrusting his hand out to mimic the zig-zagged pattern they were going to follow letting the wind guide them. “I’ll listen and steer as you call out… until I get the hang of it.” She said, suddenly not wanting him to move away to adjust the sails. He was warm comfort behind her, and for a brief moment she stepped back into him leaning against him lightly. It was something she used to do with her father, when they would stand together to do something… painting a wall, watching a sunset over the great falls, even just greeting newcomers. It was a gesture of … I am here. I am with you. This makes me happy.

Then she was once more gripping the wheel, ready to follow his directions. He was forward, calling out directions, and she was turning the ship gently starboard, angling right – following his commands. She laughed as they picked up speed, rising up on her bare toes, and feeling the salt air start to dry the curls hanging wet around her face. When he changed the rigging, she was already turning port before he called, and yelled… “Lets go faster!” She urged, eyes wide and face alight with pleasure. She wasn’t perfect, sometimes she moved too slow or too fast, reacting late or a tad too early. But she was picking it up a bit.

A small flock of gulls dove down and joined the ship, keeping pace. Tazrae cried in the voice mimicking the sea gull. They flapped periodically, glided along, cawing and Tazrae called with them, feeling akin to birds since the little casinor was flying across the waves. She wanted to throw her arms wide and flap them with the birds, but she wouldn’t let go of the wheel to do so.

But the gap drew nearer and she followed Marino’s direction, letting go of the moment to instead maneuver the little ship at his direction. It wasn’t perfect and it wasn’t smooth, but the lessons Tazrae was learning in leaps and bounds. Her important lessons weren’t about rigging and what the sails were called, instead she realized acutely when they shot the gap and came out around the island backed by a beautiful azure sky, those lessons were about letting go, trusting, and actually being alive. The young woman had never felt more alive and could have never imagined being at the helm of a beautiful little ship like The Seasilk even a short season ago.

She blinked back tears, blaming them on the wind instead of the emotion she was feeling. Tazrae strained, watching where they were going, looking ahead and also turning her head, studying where they’d been. The sea and the land were beautiful. The world here was beautiful. It rained daily. The sun often blazed down. And the humidity was unbearable at times. But she loved it. And in that moment, she realized she loved all of it, the good and the bad… the insects and the sharks and even the snakes. It somehow made the living more precious.

“I love it.” She said to Marino, half shouting over the wind. “I love all of it!” She cried, even louder, over the wind. It might have been the silliest thing anyone had ever said, but she followed through with… “I wish we could live in this moment for as long as we wanted too.” She added, watching him yet again rearrange the rigging as she took the opportunity to turn, anticipating what the Svefra would call in terms of directions. She was watching how he adjusted, had noted what he called after each adjustment. On a smooth day with ample wind, it was easy…. so easy.

But Tazrae didn’t fool herself. She knew when the storm winds blew, things would be hard… terrifying even. She watched Marino and knew…. the knowledge he was sharing with her was the easy stuff, the good stuff, but she wondered how strong he must be when things got hard… how strong all his people must be. Just because it was beautiful today, she knew it wasn’t always so. She envied his connection to his people, their skill, and even their culture.

Narrowing her eyes at him, she could almost see the spiderweb of connections around him. To the sea, to the wind, to the dolphin…. to the each of his people as if they were invisible spiderwebs trailing off into the distance, overlapping the sea and interconnecting every Svefra alive. She smiled then, at him, at the great spiderweb she imagined, and called out over the cries of the gulls.

“What next? Shall we go home? Or is there anything else you want to show me?” She asked, pitching her tone above the wind and the rush of the wake behind them.

Lost in the rigging

Postby Marino Oceangem on May 18th, 2020, 4:57 am

I think they would like that too. I got my love of a good story from them after all. Though I will warn you, you’ll end up with more guests than just my mothers.” He said, almost apologetically. She probably knew that about the Svefra already after seeing how many of his cousins had shown up at the Inn, though it didn’t hurt to mention. Little get togethers had a way of spiraling out of control. Marino didn’t think that Tazrae would have a problem with that.

You continue to surprise me, in a good way. In all the tales, across all the seas there has never been a person quite like you. Though having met you now, I can see why. You are rather unique. It would be difficult to put you in one of our songs, but worth the effort.” Marino chewed on that for a moment, looking at her. He had listened to her very carefully, hoping he had interpreted her words correctly though he knew his common ran into problems when it came to expressing abstract concepts. A part of him felt anxious at having expressed this sentiment, unsure of how it would be taken. However it was easy to soothe that worry away when he thought about how comfortable he felt with her.

Are the bugs bad?” Marino asked when the conversation shifted to Uta. He’d gotten a few bites over the past few days, but he hadn’t gone into the jungle yet. If this woman was offering lessons on bug repellent though, he guessed it was pretty necessary. He wasn’t too concerned about making sunscreen, but if she was offering that too when they went there, he wouldn’t turn down the chance to learn something new.

Marino felt renewed after the little snack break on the deck. That, and it was too much fun sailing with Tazrae as they working close together to get the sails prepped. She was a great student and made him feel like he was actually teaching her something. Even if it was by sheer happenstance. It felt even better to be standing with her at the wheel, with the wind blowing across their bodies. They both smelled like the sea which was one of the most pleasant scents in his opinion. He was ready to go when she leaned against him, and for a moment, the world slowed down to the pace of a few heartbeats.

It skipped a beat when she went back to the wheel. His mind shifted quickly back to the task at hand as he started to manipulate the sails. Like before, Tazrae caught on quick to what he was trying to do and he felt excitement bubbling up within him as the sail caught the full force of the wind. For half a chime he even closed and soaked it all in. The creak of the sails, the spray of the water, the shift of the deck, and the feel of his heart racing in his chest.

Looking up at the gulls and back at her, he smiled wide. It looked like she was still enjoying the experience. He shared her joy at seeing the Seasilk skip across the water, occasionally heaving to and fro as Tazrae made her turn. When he first started sailing on his own he didn’t think it could get any better. Now though, he knew it could. With Tazrae it was a magical experience, like he was learning how to sail for the first time all over again.

I love it too” Marino shouted back, not looking at her as he focused on the rigging. “Boom” He added soon after, as it abruptly shifted position across the deck with the wind. Looking up at her finally he saw her looking down at him curiously and gave her a warm grin. He didn’t want things to end, but he also needed to see his family while they were still here. “Home.” He called back, a trace hesitant as he went about slowing them down for their approach. When there was little left but to drift into port, he came up to her, leaning on the rail.

Today has been wonderful. Seeing Syka from out there just reminded me of all that I’ve yet to explore, and I would be more than happy to take you on my next expedition.” Whether it was going to see Uta, or exploring Syka’s shoreline, he hoped to see Tazrae very soon. As they approached the dock at a crawl, Marino busied himself with slowing them down even further by pushing against the dock with his grapple pole, before he went ahead and dumped the anchor. Then he was standing beside Tazrae, his eyes meeting hers. “I’ll be sure to tell my mothers about your offer too. They will be so happy.

Lost in the rigging

Postby Tazrae on May 18th, 2020, 11:27 pm

He didn’t have to tell her how much he loved it. She could tell just by looking at him. He was in his element. The smile natural and unforced on his face. Sailing was in his blood. The water, the wind, the sky… this particular Svefra all laid a bit of claim to each. She was just surprised to see him on the land and wondered if he could ever be happy in a single place. His people were notoriously footloose and fancy free.

Tazrae was just the opposite, honestly. She wanted her place in the world, a spot to call her own, that she could live in, thrive in, and be happy. The future Innkeeper sort of suspected she’d found it. But they could share a little common ground, on the fringe where the surf touched the land and the land caressed the sea. The woman laughed at her own poetic thoughts, and had to force herself to concentrate as Marino took them back to shore, tying up on the main dock of Syka, opposite of where The Veronica was moored.

She looked up at him beaming. “I had the best time… the absolute best time. Thank you!” She said, moving to join him and give him a spontaneous hug. She rose up and placed a quick kiss on first one of his cheeks then the other. “I can’t thank you enough.” She added, then stepped back. The future Innkeeper stooped to pick up her discarded clothing and bag, puling out her hat and stuffing it on her head, wiggling the skirt up her hips, and shrugging on the loose gauzy shirt. She shoved her feet into the sandals and then turned to Marino.

“Invite your mothers to dinner and whomever else might want to come meet a future Innkeeper. Any day you’d like that works for all of you… I’m not exactly tied down with guests right now. Just send word with a cousin or ten when they come to work for the day and I’ll have something prepared if I know how many are coming.” She said at his prompt about his mothers. It reminded her she needed to meet more people in the settlement. “I might be able to get a few more folks together too…. we’ll see. It depends on when and what everyone is doing.” She said thoughtfully, having met several people in the course of overseeing the build. Randal and his crew were amazing, but so too were the neighbors that kept dropping by to see if she needed anything.

“And if you want to do anything else, count me in. I’ll come find you when I figure out when Uta can meet and see if you want to join in. I won’t forget.” She said, leaping lightly onto the dock. She turned them, offered him a big smile, and hated to admit to herself she didn’t want the day to end. But she didn’t want to accidently ruin something that had turned into such a beautiful day.

“Marino… I want to really thank you. Not just for the day. It’s… really nice to make a friend.” She said softly, almost soft enough he wouldn’t hear. Then she gave him a little wave and turned heading back towards the common and beyond, south to where the Inn was being built. She did have a million things to do… a million and one actually… and she was certain Marino had just as much on his schedule as well. But the glow he’d left her with… she’d hold onto that for a while… a long while. And be satisfied and grateful for it… that much was for certain.

Lost in the rigging

Postby Marino Oceangem on May 19th, 2020, 4:28 am

It was a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to Tazrae. Marino didn’t want the fun to end, but he took comfort in the fact that they would see each other again soon. “That sounds great” He said, more than a little eager for that day to come already. The more he learned about Syka, the more he wanted to know, and the thought of studying plants alongside Tazrae had an even stronger appeal.

Yes it is.” He said as she walked away down the dock. For a moment, he simply leaned against the piling, and sighed. Then, after watching her walk towards the Inn for a few chimes, he decided it was best time he started looking for his family. It had been a perfect day and sharing it with his mothers would be a perfect way to cap it off. He would need to start thinking soon how he might help Tazrae host his family because he really did want them to meet her. With another sigh, he climbed back aboard the Seasilk to get dressed.
