Kavala could feel what Vahn was experiencing, but she tried not to eavesdrop too much. There was little she could do to explain how someone who had experienced so much violence and wore a different skin tone could feel so alone among people, but she did.

Different. Outsider. Ruined.

Just when she was feeling those things, he hugged her and she looked startled. Returning his hug because it was the thing expected, even when hugs came from unexpected sources. And oddly at his words, she did feel better. Protected. Comforted. Cherished.

Vahn was a herd stallion who already knew his job and was doing it, working on the lead mare first and foremost. Kavala smiled, nodded, and simply said "Thank you. I know it will take a bit. But take your time. Get to know us all - horses and people alike. And let us get to know you as well. It will be worth it.. I promise." Kavala said, then stepped out of his arms and let him drift off to whatever place he was going to take that rest. She headed for building, wanting to take a load off her feet and put them up.

Vahn, she decided, was someone she'd really like having around.
