Kavala could feel what Vahn was experiencing, but she tried not to eavesdrop too much. There was little she could do to explain how someone who had experienced so much violence and wore a different skin tone could feel so alone among people, but she did.

Kavala said, then stepped out of his arms and let him drift off to whatever place he was going to take that rest. She headed for building, wanting to take a load off her feet and put them up.
