Ahoy! There's one more spot in my open thread if anyone wants to join. It's moving pretty quickly so hop on in if you'd like to explore a little bit of the history of the Suvan. Trident agreed to add a bit of his magic to what we may uncover, so it could be a great discovery.

Some distance/time questions. All travel would be assumed to be Casinor or Giant Seahorse Mount.

1: Suvan Bar, Southern Suvan -> Vanti Islands Southern Suvan Aka Southern Southern Suvan to Northern Southern Suvan.

2: Riverfall Coast, Middle Suvan -> Oyster Isle, Middle Suvan Aka Southern Middle Suvan to Northern Middle Suvan

3: Dynsan Ruins Coast, Northern Suvan -> Skywatch Observatory, Northern Suvan Aka Southern Northern Suvan to Northern Northern Suvan

4: Southern tip of Southern Suvan -> Northern Tip of Northern Suvan

Taking distances give in the wiki between some of the cities, I came up with the following:

Casinor has a max speed of 6.7 knots (7.7 mph)
A ten hour sailing day gives a max distance travelled of 77 miles.
A twenty-four hour sailing day gives a max distance travelled of 184 miles.
Actual mileage may vary depending on weather, current, wind, etc.

Riverfall to Vanti Islands – 100 miles
Vanti Islands to Luvis Islands – 150 miles
Luvis Islands to Black Rock harbor – 150 miles
Black Rock harbor to Sendra cove – 350 miles
Black Rock harbor to Asli Island – 350 miles
Sendra Cove to Asli Island – 60 miles
Sendra Cove to Charbosi – 450 miles
Asli Island to Charbosi – 450 miles

I figure 5 mph would be a reasonable average speed since you can get max speed under ideal conditions only.

I'd really be interested in a critique of this from the more knowledgeable players.

BTW, the max speed a sail boat can make is determined entirely by its length at the water line. I figured a 28 foot boat with a 25 foot water line length.

Hey Daske! Welcome to the Suvan! I can't really answer many of your questions, but I'll give it a go. I'm sure others will chime in here, too.

3) Are you asking about the Anchorage Flotilla? Its location is listed in the linkmap as well as in the thread description of the description post itself. Currently, it's in the Northern Suvan.

4) Have you looked at the Riverfall forum? There should be city information there, probably something in the linkmap regarding the docks, as well.

6) I have no idea, but are you asking about the Drykas and the Akalak races? I just take each encounter individually, accounting for the racial disposition described in each respective lore.

7) All sorts of reasons. But the eye color problem would have to be addressed if the mate doesn't have blue eyes but is part of the pod. They even send their non-blue eyed children off, presumably to death, so I can't imagine them accepting an adult either.

8. I'm using a modern sloop as my model as well. Granted, I know nothing about sailing, whereas it sounds like you know what you're talking about.

9) Yes! You could run away super fast. That's a joke. I'd get a hold of Rage and ask him his thoughts on racial relations, he's a Falyndar AS.

Not terribly helpful, but I hope these answers will be of some use. And with racial/regional questions, it's always good to go to the storytellers presiding over each area. The Svefra are relatively new, so I'm not sure if anyone has really hashed out any specific hostilities other than the general idea given in the Svefra lore. Trident should be by here soon to provide a more official response, as well as correct any erroneous answer I've given. He's good to his players.

Hello and welcome to the Suvan, Dahlia and Daske! I'm Trident, your local Storyteller. Hopefully we can all have a great time together!

And Daske...those calculations are great! I'll have to do a bit of fact-checking just to make sure it's correct, but those estimations will be a big help for both me and everyone in the Suvan.

Now then, your questions...

1. The Suvan Sea does indeed have tides. While it was created a way different to most seas, it behaves as a normal one and has high tide and low tide. The tide has the most effect on the shore, of course.

2. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here, as the only thing I can really say about prevailing winds is that the Suvan Sea's winds are determined by sea breezes and land breezes, which means during the daytime the wind is often going inland while during nighttime it pushes into the sea.

3. Like Sable said, Anchorage's location is in the lower Northern Suvan, and it's location will always be listed in the thread description and in the linkmap. When it does change, it will be listed in the seasonal Calendar (soon to come).

4. Again, like Sable said, Riverfall has it's own forum, where you find any and all necessary information you need. (You should also check out Riverfall's lore page.) If you're sailing around Riverfall, but not in it, you can post it here. However, once you dock there, you should put that in their forum. You'll also need to omit the Warren I'm afraid; unless Stranger (ST of Riverfall) approves a shantytown in Riverfall, you cannot create one.

5. Public reaction to Svefra is usually negative, usually somewhere around dislike. Most of the time, however, Svefra aren't too well received, in any place, not just Riverfall. They prey on ships and a fair few of them are pirates, so you can understand why non-Svefra might be wary around them. Outright racism/cruelty is limited, however, because of the Svefra defense mechanism, the Nal'lyeo.

6. Are you talking about the Akalak and Drykas? Your unfamiliarity with the names seems to me like you don't know too much about them. Always, the first thing for you to do in these sort of situations is consult the lore. It has a wealth of information just waiting at your fingertips. As for relations between the Akalak and Drykas, they seem to be pretty neutral to each other, but honestly I'm not the best to say that. Ask Gossamer, who created both races, or ask the STs of the Cyphrus region.

7. Of course. There is no law specifically forbidding it, but it is in ingrained in the Svefra identity that they stick with their own kind. Most would never open up to a non-Svefra and companionship between a Svefra and a different race would be rare, to say the least. However, it is possible.

8. That doesn't seem like a problem to me. A casinor seems comparable to a sloop, though always be sure to check the description of a ship first before making up details.

9. Unless there is a really, really good reason why this Svefra group would be able to placate the Myrians and stop them from attacking because the Svefra were on their land, or if they manage to get away somehow then the possibilities of avoiding bloodshed are slim. Consult Rage first, as Sable has again said.

P.S. While the information about traveling is good to know, if you are asking this because of our thread, Liandra, just be vague about your location and I'm sure you'll be fine.
