Oh, I see what you mean, I didn't understand what Caste meant when I read Inarta Lore before I made my account -- you mean list her as an Avora, instead of Hunter?

And also, I thought if a parent was one of the artisans the child could be raised with their parent until taken to the school at eight?
"Children stay with their parents (unless their parents are drudges and thus have no time to raise children) until they are eight years of age."

The Inartan population is sorted by Caste. They are Dek, Yasi, Chiet, Avora and Endal. Each level of the Caste system (Think medieval times with kings, lords, farmers and slaves, and how they relate to each other if you need too) has different jobs they get done. A hunter would be in the Avora Caste.

Avora - The Artisans
These are people with a tradeskill that proves valuable to Wind Reach. These are the glassworkers, tanners, chefs, blacksmiths, and other artisans of the city. These individuals work set hours, contribute greatly to society, and have a voice in how the city is run on a day to day basis. They are respected, protected, and considered important for the smooth operation of the city. Laws apply to the artisans protecting them from drudges and commoners. They answer to riders and see to their needs first and foremost. Artisans often pick the best of the best commoners and youth to teach their trades too. Very infrequently do they select drudges and elevate them. Oddly enough, hunting and hydroponics fall into the Artisan category as well.

I'm going to PM you soon, Ara. I'm actually flying home at this moment so if you can give me a few hours we can straighten this out. As a new pc, I'll help you figure everything out and make sure that you're settled. It is a lot to take in all at once, I know, but we're here to help.

Wind Reach. The only city where four mods jump to greet one new player :)

Arandolya - Love your name.. .yes parents can have a big say in the raising of their kids if they are upper caste. But they always have a good set of babysitters and don't have to necessarily let their kids live with them because they are often off hunting/working etc.

Aran - Caste is you ranking on the social ladder. (: Dek, Yasi, Chiet, Avora, and Endal. Check out the links on Inarta lore! They all have different expectations and responsibilities, as well as privileges!

I would also advise you take a look at THIS. It is the Player Posting Guide. The link will take you to a post that explains the Monetary System. It goes a little more in-depth of your expectations for your caste.

As for being an Endal versus an Avora, I talked to Gossamer, who is a founder of the site.

She's not an endal. She's an Avora. And you can start as an Endal but you have to write your eagle up for me and post a bonding thread.

So in your CS, instead of Hunter, list yourself as an Avora unless you wish to make yourself an Endal with the mentioned prerequisites. I would advise you start as an Avora. :) It gives your PC some room to develop and grow! But it's of course up to you.

Thank you Gossamer, it's an elfin name I found -- I liked the ring of it. (:

And okay, thank you all. :D I shall edit immediately.

Yes, I'd like to start as an Avora, since I'm not only new to Wind Reach society, but also to the site in general, I really appreciate the help. :D

So change her history to in the nursery, and then list her as an Avora. :D Whee, thank you. ^o^

[Wind Reach OOC] Touching The Sky II

Postby Gossamer on November 30th, 2011, 5:06 pm

Greetings Wind Reachers!

I just wanted to remind everyone that the season change is upon us. Tomorrow is the official start of Winter in Wind Reach. Thunder Bay is closed as of the 89th of Fall when the road to Wind Reach is blocked by snow so no new threads there unless you are an Endal and flying.

I will have the calender up tomorrow and a new set of thread goals later in the week if not tomorrow.

Please do not put placeholders in the city unless they are TITLED and labeled with the purpose via thread summary. We've had a ton of these in the past and most of them never get used. So if I see them WITHOUT titles and labels as to what they are for IE. Thread Summaries, they will be removed tomorrow by a storyteller and you will have no recourse to doing any threads in Fall. Placeholders skirt our system of timechange and our ability to move our game forward keeping all the roleplay going and giving our players a chance (as well as a sense of urgency) to wrap up old threads.

Thank you for undrestanding. This holds true of the Unforgiven as well. I know Tabernac is of a like mindset.

All those who are working on NaNo and Wind Reaches Thread Goals, good luck, you just have today to get the rest of the elements incorporated.
